Your not looking hard enough. I literally had a house from 1947 that had a knocker. I bought a wired doorbell because batteries are dumb. Went online and bought this from Amazon. I poked a hole through the other side with a drill and plugged it into a normal outlet. Was super easy and after I sold that house I brought it and set up in a house with an actual wired doorbell and a new transformed to up the voltage. It was super easy.
The E40 is also on sale for the pre-order price ($99)! With Amazon's much-faster shipping and easier return policy, regretting placing my order directly with Eufy last night lol. 🤦♂️
Well, there isn't really a lot of outstanding HomeKit cameras out there. iOS 15 seems to be heading towards allowing Matter-capable meaning it should open the door for more cameras that are better quality and reliable, so I didn't want to pay $160 for a Logitech camera that has a fair bit of bad reviews in regards to quality and reliability when supposedly better cameras are in the horizon. But I still needed something in the meantime for my house.
So yesterday for Prime Day, I got 4 Vocolinc Opto cameras for a total of $144 before tax. It can be set up SOLELY through HomeKit and without the Vocolinc app which is what I'm looking for, and also has 2-way HomeKit audio which Eufy does not. Additionally, if you do use the app, it can also pan and tilt, use automations to retract the lens (so my ideal automation would be arrive home -> retract lens automation -> wait 10 seconds -> disable smart plugs), and so on. However, it doesn't use a microSD card if you care (I personally don't) and the camera won't follow you around via motion tracking like Eufy does (though this could be updated via software I assume).
One thing I am looking forward to finding out is if I can successfully restrict the Vocolinc to only allow connections to my home hub via eero router. That way, the Vocolinc app can ONLY be accessed on your wifi network, but you can still access the camera outside the network via Home app. If you try to do this with Eufy, they kill the camera connection in the Home app too.
If Vocolinc doesn't let me do that, then I'll just roll without the app and use it only in the Home app. I got the camera for HomeKit after all, and I'm not fond of the fact that I have to be connected to Eufy's app to use in HomeKit. If the cameras are bad, then I'll just return them. It was either 4 cameras for $144, 3 Aqara cameras for $195, or 3 Logitech cameras for $480.
No. The 2c has a voltage max of about 5.8V in my tests with it. Once you go above that, it seems to have some sort of circuit protection and stops charging. I live in Florida and even though the reolink says output is 6V, I have seen as high as 7.5V coming out of it.
My solution...Since I have 2 cams at each corner of my home, I decided to see if I could get the reolink to charge two at once. So I purchased the following at Amazon (link below) along with a small water tight enclosure. I cut the micro USB end of the reolink, soldered it to one of these boards and plugged the cams in to the board. I now have 8 cams and 4 reolink solar panels. These boards keep the voltage within the proper range for the 2c cams and keep them all charged.
My initial test...two cams were below 60% charge. Three days later they were both 100% charged.

There is absolutely no reason why any regular 120V-to-24V dumb transformer (AC in, AC out) with a decent VA rating (e.g., 40VA) should not work.
eufy wants your transformer to have a minimum 30VA rating.

They come with gaskets for the various supported models. I have one of my 2c cameras under an eave so rain would never hit it. My other was exposed so I bought a camera shade for extra assurance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VGLLLCX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also bought the silicone covers for the cameras themselves.
Thats what I was thinking. It looks a little like this. Im not sure of the voltage but worst case scenerio I could buy a 5V. I know eufy is releasing a wired outdoor but I kind of like how quick the pan and tilt loads and the cost.
Thanks! I did eventually find these, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085RW46BQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that I'm hoping will do the trick. I like how low profile the boxes are though, and with a variety of sizes, they look like they would fit nicer under the gutter or soffit.
No, I actually bought a third party one with a big flat surface, and used the double sided tape on that.

I used these last week in my home and mothers home.
Not thick USB 3.0 cables that would be an eyesore and not too thin to need to worry about data/voltage issues.
Your existing doorbell is probably using 16 gauge wire similar to the 22 gauge phone wire. The transformer, on the other end, cuts line voltage down to 20-30 volts and limits current. The transformer is usually mounted in a garage, by the chime, or in a closet somewhere where it connects its primary to the house line voltage. Finding the transformer is often the hardest part of the job. Here is a link to a typical doorbell transformer of the correct spec. https://www.amazon.com/Wasserstein-16V-30VA-Doorbell-Transformer/dp/B07V8S98PL/ref=sr_1_42?crid=28EJ1RNQ055ND&dchild=1&keywords=doorbell+transformer+16v+30va&qid=1606348148&sprefix=doorbell+transformer%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-42
I've seen a few posts about 3d printed cases so that you can use indoor cams outdoors. Also, bought some Blink camera cases on Amazon for the motion sensor so i could mount it outside. They fit the motion sensor with a little room to spare. Didn't try my indoor 2k but the measurements are pretty close. Got 3 cases and 3 metal mounts that fit Eufy cams for $10.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WCBQ4QH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Same thing with mine, played with the settings and that improved it but to get longer battery life I was not happy with what was being missed so I got this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07PJHVJ2T/ref=dp_prsubs_1 and don’t worry about it anymore.
I've orderd these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FY5J82X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MZqFFbBJKNJKE
I'll do a review when I get them. I need that lip on the bottom to keep the moisture from wicking up on the charging port since I've got a solar panel. I'll be using silicone to seal around that port.
I hung my 2k up outside with Command Strips. I used 2 of the large of these. The camera has been up for about a month just fine.
Edit: In my personal experience the “outdoor” Command Strips work like crap compared to these “bath” kind, even outdoors.
I use this to monitor my dogs and the inside of the house in general: https://www.amazon.com/eufy-Security-Assistant-Compatibility-Tracking/dp/B0856W45VL. Great coverage, can pan, tilt, rotate so you can put it on top of a shelf or up in the ceiling if you want.
I've bought this set 4 times now, and all cameras have been good. It's renewed by Amazon and on sale for $120. I have them around my house and my in laws and it's been great. It's an older model but I wasn't interested in spending more than I had to.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B084CX7DTJ?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
The indoor ones have an option to record a message to play for your pet every time it's on camera, but these outdoor ones don't. The pan and tilt camera is great bc it has pan and tilt, but it's intended to be mounted upside down so keep that in mind, and your pet will be father away on the camera
as of right this second that one is $93 for a 2TB made by Acer. The compatibility should be impeccable. I was just looking and saw it.
Many of the cameras are designed to be outside. I have E40 and C24 camera that are outside. The location of my E40 is in a very similar spot to your lower left circle, and is connected to a solar panel that hangs off the gutter using these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N673SNP
I have thought about doing it with one of the larger "Portable Power Stations", just make sure it will allow for providing power while also charging, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X2HR6FP
It hasn't been long enough and I'm now abroud but I haven't had any issues with a standard HDD. We tested the export function and it's like super primative. You can only plug in a USB stick and then from the eufy app, it will export ALL events for a certain date range. You can't pick or choose. And you can only view 24/7 recordings from the eufy app but I haven't tried to see if you could export a certain time frame.
I will say on the home we're building we don't even have proper gig wifi and have a T-Mobile 5G Home Internet box. We're luckily pretty close to the center of town and getting good ups and downs.

haha. thanks for sharing. i looked at amazon. and prices are wacked for some reason. i just checked it today infact. https://www.amazon.com.au/eufy-IndoorCam-Assistant-Compatibility-Compatible/dp/B08F7LXYCH/
There was a additional doorbell chime available, but I cannot find it on the Eufy site anymore.
Here is a listing on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/eufy-Doorbell-Chime-for-HomeBase2/dp/B08FB38KTK
In my case I have the home base on the ground floor, the old wired chime on the first floor, and the additional Eufy chime on the second floor. Works perfectly.
You can enable RTSP on the cameras and use an app such as this in order to have multiple feeds playing back at the same time on Android.
These are the cams I use:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RHQGS8V/
These don't have AI for vehicle/human detection. The next pricier version at $10 more does have that AI and I'll be buying those from now on.
The Amcrest web interface is a bit picky about live viewing at full 4K res, but Synology Surveillance Station handles a 4k feed just fine. When I'm viewing all four cams, I use the secondary stream at 780p. But when I bring up a single cam, it's at 4k. Plus Surveillance Station has a superb zoom option.
I didn’t see the 3c but the prices on Amazon is significantly less compared to that website. Here is one example:
Jbhifi eufy Security eufyCam 2C Pro 2K Wireless Home Security System (4 Pack) price: $799
From Eufy or from Amazon. Right now there's a $20 off coupon both direct from Eufy, and from Amazon (not sure how long that'll last).
I put up one of these in my garage and the difference is stunning.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MX63RX3
Yes, it's an extra piece of gear hanging on the side of your house and you have to find somewhere to plug it in, but it that isn't an issue, the extra IR light works wonders.
A bit expensive solution, a module available via Amazon can drive a 12v relais from a low level speaker signal. Module is called PAC TR4. Costs around $17
Thanks I ordered the one you linked. For anyone else looking the one that Eufy literally suggested doesn't fit the Eufy bracket.
I literally installed this one, this weekend, due to the exact same scenario- cable pulled straight through the exterior cedar siding. Worked just fine, heavy, seems to be good quality. And white, so it matched the camera. I installed the 2k version but should be identical for yours. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C3YD6HU
I used this and stuck it onto the ceiling in my garage. It hasn't budged so far in 8-9 months. I'm in the south so heat and cold temps hasn't seem to affected it. Fingers crossed:
Yeah I'm not entirely sure about that. I'm just curious if you can get local storage on this thing without uploading it to the cloud/paying their monthly fee (as I really don't want my data exposed like that).

I am using this solar panel on my camera. I have one of the original cams from the initial Kickstarter. There was no official solar panel when I got it. The only issue I have is sometimes the camera over heats (that is from living in New Mexico and not the panel itself, because the cam overheated before the panel was in use). I need to come up with a sun shade for it.
Its what the Amazon listings call it, a sun/rain shade.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018WJQL0S/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_ZJPQQNDNM11YK369NX55_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
In my case I live near a lake and the win is often blowing right at my house. The camera is under an eaves (but about 15 foot under as its a large chalet style roof) but we always get crazy sideways type rain. We always get lots of spiders / webs setting off motion detection, hoping something like this will help although thats wishful thinking on my part!
I'm looking for the same thing.
One of the reviews for this mount on Amazon says they modified it to fit the Eufy, so I was thinking of giving it a shot.
https://smile.amazon.com/Anti-Theft-Doorbell-AgoKud-Apartment-Adjustable/dp/B09ZTWK7LY/
The model number is: AK-194644180591
Yes, it needs a base. Most Eufy products use the centralized base.
. . .and looking on Amazon, apparently they are now selling a combo deal of the battery-powered doorbell and homebase, which is a good bargain. If all you're wanting is just a video doorbell, it's probably your best bet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099RX62SC
. . .and if you want to add door sensors, motion sensors, cameras etc. later, that's pretty easy and seamless to add once you've got the homebase set up.
No interest in the eufycam 2 set? No spotlight, but longer battery life and cheaper than the ones you mentioned. I've been pretty happy with mine. I guess it depends on how important the 2k video is to you. I use Homekit Secure Video, so I'm limited to 1080p anyway.

If you have an existing exterior light \ floodlight you can use this to replace it, then monitor constantly. They also have 2 way sound so you can hear and talk back.
I don't believe the solar\battery ones would be able to broadcast constantly for a long enough period.
Is this the transformer you purchased? I wanted to make sure I bought the right one, Thank you!
I've never heard of any time limit.
You can view your cams live in a web browser, as well as the app. I've used my laptop hooked to my 65 inch TV via HDMI cable before. As well as tablets and my phone via the app.
It will depend on a lot of factors if the solar panels can "keep up" including how much you use the cams and how much sun you get. I live in South Florida so sun isn't much of a problem for me...
I'd recommend getting a different cam mount though. I think the ones that come with the cam are kinda crappy. I went with these : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08P491JC8 and I'm happy with them for 10 bucks. The ones the cams come with will work but aren't great.
You can also get the cams to display on devices like Google Nest Hub (like $60 right now) and the Amazon Echo Show (the cheap one is like $70 right now). We have the Nest in our kitchen, it's pretty neat.

I bought this one. I had to cut it out to unblock the motion sensor, so it isn’t ideal. If you’re not interested in motion alerts, it works perfectly.
If anything, look at any doorbell mounts and scroll down to the questions and answers section. Search for the keyword, “Eufy” and someone may have asked if the mount is compatible with Eufy doorbells.

The flat RJ45 cable seems to make my internet speed slightly quicker, although both cables (the original Cat5 Virgin router cable and the Eufy flat ethernet cable) give me full speed when I check out my internet speed on the website fast.com.
"basically any camera" means that it has to have at least HDMI out, and it needs to be some kind of "raw" format, so you should first try is your camera compatible.
I havent tested that home-assistant.io yet, but on that video you see it is capable of detecting objects, so it will need scripting. Let me know if you manage create a EUFY killer solution :) Should not be very hard :)
This looks like an android phone. If so check out the app adguard, not from the play store but their site. It costs money but you can buy a lifetime subscription. It'll block ads on everything across your phone all apps and browsers. Oh and don't know if they still do but a few years ago, when I bought several lifetime codes, they had regional pricing. I’ve used it to hang pictures and it’s worked ok, however some of them did fall after a few years.
For a small camera for a short amount of time it should be fine.
Short answer is many people get the motion sensor and link it to the doorbell via an automation. You skip using the doorbells built in sensor and instead use the dedicated one which is much more reliable.
Eufy even officially recommends it now. You can find more info about it if you search around.
I’d recommend you have a look at something like this.
From my understanding they are extremely easy to setup and use. Hunters use them to capture pictures of wildlife to see what kinds/numbers of animals are around.
I’d argue that they’re easier to setup than wireless security cameras such as the Eufy ones you’re using. You charge the battery, insert a memory card and attach it to a tree or other object. Depending on the model, you may have to pull the memory card periodically and put it into your computer to view the photos.
This is how I see you using one of these:
https://ipinfo.io/AS6167/174.192.0.0/10-174.192.196.0/22 reports the subnet to which this IP address belongs is leased by "Cellco Partnership DBA Verizon Wireless". Do you Verizon FiOS as your broadband provider, or some other cellular data connection?
I've read that Eufy cameras utilize regional Amazon cloud servers rather than sending our data to datacenters hosted in China, not sure that is associated with this though.
You can use the Wi-Fi you have for now. once you’ve decided on an automation system, you can decide if you want to change Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi doesn’t need to be integrated with home automation. Some people like it, but it’s not required.
You may already have smart items around your home that already integrate with Alexa or Google. If you’re already leaning towards Google, try downloading Google Assistant https://assistant.google.com/. Then get an Assistant compatible smart bulb. They’re economical, and they allow you to test several key features of home automation:
Touch control: Touching virtual buttons to turn things on. Touching virtual control surfaces to change settings Voice control: Saying “Hey Google, Turn on my lights.” Or Hey Google, Change my lights to blue.” Automations: automatically turn off when you leave, turn on when you come home, and dim and change to the same color as your bullet proof hoodie (to confuse any thief who tries to enter while you sleep). Integrations: turn on lights to full brightness in the color of the hoodie when the camera or motion detector senses something wrong, so the thieves are blinded and can’t see you in your bulletproof hoodie.
I have a 3-camera Eufy 2C kit on order and my house is very Google-fied...nest mini's in every room and a google smart display in the kitchen. I'm just hoping I can say "Hey Google show me the front camera" to that smart display and it will come up. Seems to be a LOT of conflicting info on if this will work for the 2C or not, even this page says "Eufy Cam" and "Eufy Cam E": https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/00000040647b148c?hl=en-US
Just uploaded this document that they gave me to check your wiring setup. Mine I believe bypasses the doorbell and straight to the transformer. Good luck! https://smallpdf.com/result#r=16b013af3186bcddab07549231eded10&t=share-document
I moved all mine to POE with adapters at the ends, which makes wiring SO MUCH easier and cleaner. I have one central switch that powers all the devices via regular Ethernet cable. Pull cable through the attic, drill a tiny hole in the ceiling or soffit, and my cameras are up and mounted out of the way. I can hard power cycle them remotely, as well, through the POE controls in the switch. Only possible improvement would be if I could get the cameras to use Ethernet instead of WiFi.
This is one of the adapters I use. I bought several different ones to test and they all worked fine.
I bought this USB cable for two outdoor cams and not only have I had no charging/performance issues, but I can turn the settings to max everything which really unlocks the system’s potential. I was missing too many events on battery power.
Only problem is that the micro usb is right angled and terminates to the right of the camera; meaning if you need the cord to go to the left it’s kind of awkward to not bend the cable which can cause wear over time
Microusb isn’t a tight fit do can get loose over time which is a micro usb problem not a camera/ solar thing
This one here is working really great for me so far:
It has kept my cam at 100% on my back deck, which is where we let out dogs out at. That area has fairly high traffic. I've had it for a couple weeks now, and so far so good.
I’ve used this one and it’s been working great:

I don't like changing batteries for any of my cameras....this is why I got the solar panels for my 2Cs. My house already had doorbell wiring so I was good there, but I personally don't like battery powered doorbells. You might not even need an electrician to do what you want. If you have an outlet near by, you can probably just drill through and plug it in. Something like this would most likely work.

An electrician is going to install a transformer, run wire, and drill holes. This sounds pretty expensive, but once it's installed, it's permanent. Might be worth it if you plan on living in your house a long time. This also opens up more options for other brands if you decide eufy isn't for you. I was running a Nest Hello before I switched, which is also house power only.

I bought these, and they have been working great for me.

Very high quality imo

Yes, as others mentioned, you can. For what it’s worth, this transformer is great. 24 Volt Transformer, C Wire Adapter Thermostat, Competible with All Versions of Ring Doorbell and Thermostat for Nest Ecobee, Sensi and Honeywell, 315" Long Cable 24V Transformer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DJ7RHS5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JH3HEVDMV7C0JA079XQX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hey electro
I know u can’t tell for sure, but what are you’re thoughts on the new model?
From your experience in modifying the older one, do you think this might have a chance at working as well or is it TOO open on the top?
Just thinking if the size is still right, maybe this would work easier since it wouldn’t need the cutting of the case to accommodate the sensor.
I am interested in trying your mod but the. Found this model and though it might work.
Idk if the camera is substantially different that would make this case not work but 🤷🏻♂️

I appreciate your input!
For initial setup, it does have to be physically plugged into an ethernet connection. Once you set it up on ethernet, you can configure the Wifi connection. Won't connect to Wifi unless its first set up on an ethernet connection.
You could buy a wireless bridge device that has an ethernet port on it and set it up that way. You only need it for setup, so could send it back once you have the Wifi configured.
Something like this might work.

I have 4 solo cams mounted near my outdoor lights, plugged into 2 of these things. Whenever I turn my lights on, the cameras get a charge.
Put this $10 siren on a smart plug. You can set it off yourself or automate it with simplecommands.
You need to wire the siren to a 12V DC adapter, I had several lying around from old webcams. You can buy the 12V DC adapters for under $7.
Siren and DC Adapter
Mine had a little room inside and I filled it with some foam pipe insulation to keep the sensor from moving around and that worked fine. There are a few different blink cameras but the case I used is for the XT model and is 80 x 80 mm across the front and 35 mm deep. The front and face are tapered a little. The back piece is 85 x 85 mm. The case has 4 screws that seal it tightly.
My sensor sits right on the outside of the house without any shielding and has worked great for triggering the porch cam and doorbell so I get a good full-face shot of anyone approaching.
Here's the link to the one I used, but it appears they are out of stock.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure if this is a good deal or not, but Arlo Pro 2 3-cam kit is the same price as Eufy 2 Pro 3-cam kit:

In cases where I can't get a specific outdoor cable, I have been using 'split wire loom' to cover the cables. Works well in most cases
I probably screwed up the name but because Eufy product naming is stupid.
