On my S10e, the stock camera app only supports 30 and 60 fps. FilmicPro on the other hand also supports 24 and 25 fps.
You can try the FilmicPro evaluator and check if selectable fps is available on your device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmic.compatibilitytest
I've shot 4 short films, actually episodes (first 3 are on Amazon). First one I shot flat and got a lot of noise and red skin. Following 3 I shot on natural and am much happier with the result.
Just every time I see a comment about Filmic and noise issues, it's always after shooting with Log. There's a guy did a test on YouTube. He wanted to shoot a night scene. First attempt - lot of noise. Second attempt, he added a lot of light and it was fine.
So basically you need more light. I think what I've read about Log (on any camera) is you need to overexpose anyway. The question is, are you really benefitting from this procedure? Because it adds quite a bit of extra work, so unless it really makes a big visual difference, why add this extra work?
The one I used was unavailable, but this one seems similar. https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Smartphones-zttopo-Wireless-Compatible/dp/B07MR1PHPZ?pd_rd_w=FAdGI&content-id=amzn1.sym.e918b948-eed1-4f44-a6ba-e25cbef339e8&pf_rd_p=e918b948-eed1-4f44-a6ba-e25cbef339e8&pf_rd_r=8WBPH1VQ773B1PP4PSX0&...
I received an email from FiLMiC with the following info:
The following list contains all the current devices that we support 10Bit recording, since this is a normally requested feature because it allows for a much deeper color palette I believe it would be a good starting point to start discarding potential devices:
LG
LG V40
LG V50
LG V60
LG G7
LG G8
OnePlus
OnePlus 8
OnePlus 8 Pro
OnePlus 8T
OnePlus 9
OPPO
OPPO Find X3 series
POCO
Xiaomi POCO F2
Xiaomi POCO F3
Redmi
Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro
Samsung
Samsung Galaxy S10
Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Samsung Galaxy S20 series
Samsung Galaxy Note 20
Samsung Galaxy S21 Series (only Exynos variants)
Sony
Sony devices, but please note that this also depends if the device actually supports 10-bit for 3rd party apps, meaning that not all Sony devices actually support 10-bit.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi Mi9
Xiaomi Mi10 series
Xiaomi Mi11 series
But of course, we always recommend using our FiLMiC Pro Evaluator app if possible before any kind of purchase. The FiLMiC Pro Evaluator is available in the Google Play store at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmic.compatibilitytest&hl=en
Once downloaded, the app will test your device to determine compatibility with the various FiLMiC Pro features and give you a report about what you will and will not be able to do with FiLMiC Pro on your device. This should give you a clear understanding of what FiLMiC Pro can do, and whether it will be useful to you or not.
Please note: if the Evaluator is not available for download on the device, then the device is not compatible with any portion of the app. Also, at minimum, the device needs to be running Android 7 or a newer operating system.
In my experience, you would most likely need a third-party device like a portable mixer to make this happen. Something that will allow two mic receiver inputs and one output going into the phone. The device would have to be able to split the two inputs into stereo. I use the Saramonic LavMic system for this. It’s a wonderful gadget. If there’s a simpler way to do what I think you are asking, I don’t know but I’d love to hear it. I don’t have the DJI system but I’ve done what you describe with two Rode Wireless Go II receivers. Here’s a link to the Saramonic device if you’re interested: https://www.amazon.com/Saramonic-Microphone-2-Channel-Smartphones-Camcorders/dp/B01HFGDN28
I can't answer you directly, but my 7t can do 4k/60.
There is also the evaluator app you can use to find out things for sure. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmic.compatibilitytest
I wanted to use my old Google Pixel 2xl but same thing. I couldn't download filmic remote to that device. So I decided to buy a tablet. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money so I settled on the Dragon Touch Max 10.
It has Android 10. The display is adequate. It runs Filmic Remote.
Ah, I understand. Well, I don't think, you have much of a choice. I would recommend unlocking ISO and shutter and use the exposure ticks.
Your other options are:
Yes you're correct about the stabilizer being imbalanced. I tried by best to balance my Smooth 4 gimbal, but with this lens it's not entirely possible.
Also this was shot in 4k 24fps-- I just walked really really really slowly- haha!
The shaking was more noticeable prior to editing-- I used the Warp Stabilizer in Premiere to fix that-- but as you can see, the lens flare can't be stabilized.
Do you have any tips or advice on how to better balance a gimbal?
As I mentioned to the other poster, I used a cheaper Ulanzi anamorphic lens for this shot-- and used the clip-on mount to attach it to my phone-- so naturally it wasn't super balanced. I don't think I will be seriously using this lens anymore-- it's far too stylized and clumsy-- but in these kinds of experimental shots, its fun to see what it can do.
Also, thank you for your comment and observation-- always happy to hear from my fellow mobile videographers!
It's actually a cheap (cheaper?) 1.33 Anamorphic Lens by Ulanzi
I would not recommend this lens at all, I've only used it a handful of times and have noticed a few things:
I have watched a few videos with the Moment anamorphic lens and its miles ahead of this Ulanzi one.
I shot this at 4K 24fps while walking as smooth as possible while using my Smooth 4 gimbal-- I just can't nail it down quite yet in terms of shake prevention.
Also what didn't help me what the fact that I used the clip on attachment for this lens!
Thank you for you comment, I appreciate the insight and feedback!
Hi! Sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.
Boya microphones should work with FiLMiC Pro, but some users have written in regarding issues with Boya products, and we've determined that these issues are generally related to the build quality of the cable and/or connectors on Boya microphones. FiLMiC Pro requires exceptional TRRS connectivity in order for the app to support its advanced audio features, such as live audio monitoring. Sometimes, FiLMiC Pro will fail to recognize Boya BY-M1 microphones or there can be some echo in the audio recording when cables or connectors become worn out or damaged.
A great alternative to the BY-M1 would be the RODE SmartLav+, if that is of interest to you. Additionally, some users have found the use of an active USB-C3.5mm adapter can alleviate connectivity issues with budget microphones. Please let us know if you have additional questions or feel free to email our support team at [email protected]. Thanks!
Haha right, sorry bout that. I'm trying to set it to 4k 24fps 16:9, filmic extreme, AVC. As for the SD card, it's this.
The setting I put on the filmic pro is 4k 24fps 16:9, filmic extreme, AVC currently and the card I have is this.
What class is the SD card? If you’re trying to send more data to it than it can process it’s not gonna work. That’s probably why it’s saying to lower your bitrate. 8k footage is really really big, and you’re gonna need a stupid fast SD card specifically for high res video, not some $15 for 64gb card from Target. This one is fast enough. Here’s more info on SD cards and how the classes are laid out, if you’re interested.
Honestly, there isn’t really a great reason to record in 8k right now. People barely own 4K capable equipment as it is, and whoever edits that stuff is gonna have a really bad time unless they’re on a crazy ass workstation. 4K is more than enough for pretty much everything these days.
