Also, my wife and I moved here about a year ago and she is alway looking for new friends. DM me and I will give you her info so you can can reach out if you want.
I bought a bark deterrent and put it near the fence line when my neighbors weren’t willing to take responsibility for their own dogs. It worked.
This guy acts like he's the gatekeeper to the beautiful trails of northern Arizona. Dude, any hiking-focused website is gonna have the exact same shit you talk about on it. Plus there's the Bible of NAZ hiking, Flagstaff Hikes by Richard and Sherry Mangum.
Def head out here in the late afternoon and stay through the evening. This time of year they look at Jupiter, star clusters, The Ring Nebula, and maybe a galaxy or two. The Clark refractor makes for a spectacular portal to view objects both inside our galaxy and beyond. They usually have at least 2 large style dobsonian telescopes and one larger, electronic telescope that projects the objects through a CCD onto a TV screen. Finally, the solar system walk is pretty interesting giving a sense of scale to our solar system. Pro Tip: after the observatory grab some food/drink and head south on Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Overlook. It's about a 25 minute drive but if you want to see the Milky Way and its myriad of stars it's so worth it! Kill the lights, lay out on the hood, no phones, give eyes ~25 minutes to allow your eyes to dark adapt, and witness the night sky. Milky Way starts rising high around 1030 pm. If cloudy it's not worth it...visit this sight to get a sense of the astronomy (stargazing) weather https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/flagstaff-az/86001/astronomy-weather/326854
Sort of. My buddy was the one who started it, but it didn't get too far to my knowledge. Here's where you can find the most info: https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=132048452889
If I recall, we were about to make it official but had to get a faculty member to support it, which never fully panned out. I'm certain Jeff would be more than willing to help someone get it started again.
A good place to start would be Ron James:

He is big on the music scene up here. Does lots of promotions for local bands and also plays in quite a few local bands. You can usually find him drinking beers at Mia's in the afternoons. If you can't see his info on FB just let me know and I can PM you his email.
Granted, there is a wind advisory today, but in general I understand that it's quite windy in Doney Park on a regular basis.

Highly recommend Walnut Canyon Viewpoint Trail. It’s very beautiful at the end and is a pretty cool walk (no aspens though, I think). AllTrails is a pretty good app for finding hikes

I'm betting on about 5 inches (insert punchline here). Both weather underground and NOAA are sticking to their guns. Drive safely, everybody.
You're using the wrong stuff.
Use Citrol. It will remove pine tar and just about anything else without damaging the paint or finish. It will strip wax, so if you're using it on a car be ready to put some wax back down when you're done.
Hi again, we just got our Facebook and Nextdoor groups set up, please join us so you can know when our next meet up is.
Drive about 30 min south of Flag along Lake Mary Road. Once you get near Mormon Lake, pull off in one of the overlooks. Enjoy!

Finally, don't go when the Moon is up...trust me! The Milky Way deserves your undivided attention!
Also if you want to drive 25 min further down Lake Mary you can stop by and check out my office at the Discovery Channel Telescope. We've got great skies here in the middle of the forest!
Thanks!
Yeah I'll be purchasing the pass... I'm doing a LOT of state parks, so the 80$ will be well spent.
I'll simply trust you on the Criollo restaurant. Margaritas + local food? Sounds like my type of place.
For the camping, I'll probably spend the night at the restaurant you told me, and then head somewhere not too far to sleep and then leave the next morning to the Petrified Mountains National Park.
That's why I'm looking at camping spots close to Flagstaff, I don't want to do another hour drive in the morning to find the highway.
Last July when I moved into an apartment in Flag I got this bed from Amazon and I really liked it, it's slightly firm but definitely not as hard a rock.
Go with Suddenlink and get one of the plans with no data cap. Get some VPN service cuz they will sniff your traffic. Watched an episode of Its Always Sunny with a friend and he got a cease and desist from Suddenlink. Torguard has worked great for me.
There are plenty of trails that are accessible with your car. Your WRX is plenty capable up here in my opinion, unless you want to get into more serious off-roading. Many of the dirt roads are in decent shape as well. This book is indispensable for finding trails and you can pick up a copy on Amazon or in town.
I just moved here recently myself and would love to hit some trails (or routes for that matter). Shoot me a PM when you get to town and we can sort it out!
