these ^might be signs of early type 2 diabetes. I'm not a doctor, check this webmd page and mayoclinic one and see if it fits what you are experiencing. Also, don't freak out (if I did freak you out), those symptoms sound very mild to me if they are from diabetes. edited for grammar
You're doing great! Your prohibited foods identify the ones you find especially difficult to manage. I suppose you have a daily food plan, it helps to use an app such as Cronometer or something to keep track. Lapses are part of progress, don't let them discourage you. Just keep going no matter what.
It's a great help to do specific recovery work. For example, here a list of worksheets. There are so many helpful resources and books that teach about how to recover from addiction. There are free self-help groups (e.g., Overeaters Anonymous and the like) that host meetings via Zoom. Explore, you'll discover so much and it'll keep you motivated and inspired.
You're already feeling the benefits. It's great, isn't it!
Audio download on UK Amazon is £13!!

Wow! This is a comprehensive resource! I'm definitely holding on to it.
Bright Line Eating also has a book. https://www.amazon.com/Bright-Line-Eating-Science-Living-ebook/dp/B01MUA6QAX?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=5dd33aaa-403d-42ad-9288-69caaeb0385d
Not sure if this will be taken down for violating a rule but this product worked ok for me with sugar cravings:
Empower - Instant Willpower™ Sugar Cravings Help for Healthy Food Choices | Gymnema Sylvestre, 5HTP, Biotin, Chromium Picolinate | Supports Keto, Low Carb, Paleo Diets https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07DR7NTFR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_i_72V0JE7VFXN0W0H26KS7
Mileage will vary of course. You might find something with this idea but a different product that works better, I don't know, I haven't looked. At the time I was using this I wasn't committed to losing weight so I just didn't use it like I needed to. I wanted to eat the sugar products. If you have the desire to not eat sugar products, this may be of some use to you. I suggest figuring out what the active ingredient is that neutralizes sugar on the tongue and then see what types of products out there use that active ingredient.
Here you are: https://zoom.us/j/565460726 Password is: Auburn That’s the info for the FA food addicts in recovery meeting at 7pm tomorrow night where I share my story. From there you can decide if you have willingness to give up the drug of sugar one day at a time. There are meetings daily and list of zoom meetings are available on website foodaddicts . Org
So I struggle with this and recently downloaded the Noom app. It’s a holistic approach to logging what you eat and much more. Focuses on the “why’s” of your eating habits and how to create new healthy habits. Psychology based and pairs you with a Goal Specialist. So far I’m liking it and am already noticing changes in how I think about food. Worth a two week trial to see if it’s something that’s work for you.
The definition of addiction is a predictable, reliable coping response to meaninglessness and lack of control, which simultaneously relieves and worsens one psychologically. It’s a destructive behavior chosen in response to circumstances and provides a substitute sense of purpose and security. It replaces what is lacking in society by filling the ”empty self”, which has been unmoored from its web of cultural meaning.
See if your library has any books by Stanton Peele if you want to read about addiction. He has a pretty low cost recovery program, but I can't vouch for that. I would suggest you read Recover!: Stop Thinking Like an Addict and Reclaim Your Life with The PERFECT Program and see if it makes sense to you.
Also, with eating there is a big stigma plus a control issue where families/society try to shame people and put them on diets that don't work/punishing exercise programs or the person tries to to do it to themselves and then gets mad when they binge because their blood sugar is low, which is how it's supposed to work. Your community is supposed to emotionally regulate you, not shame you or stigmatize you because of what you look like.
Ultra-processed foods are cheap, easy to eat in large quantities, and contribute to blood sugar crashing which makes you hungrier by design. It's more of a vicious cycle if you're eating mass quantities of glucose raising food because it physically makes you hungrier. But you can become addicted to anything including the internet, shopping, video games, porn, working too much, etc..
Life in the Fasting Lane: How to Make Intermittent Fasting a Lifestyle―and Reap the Benefits of Weight Loss and Better Health by Dr. Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, and Eve Mayer.
This book really helped me rethink my relationship not just with food but hunger, and my feelings of guilt and shame around the way I was eating.
The Beck Diet Solution. My therapist recommended it to me and it's really great. The title made me roll my eyes (I'm sick of diets, damn it) but the content is good. It's focused on your thinking processes when it comes to food instead of "You just need willpower!"
