Schoch is an interesting character. Good science education, yet he disregards the scientific method when it comes to ancient civilizations. The way he jumps to conclusions is remarkable.

Field theory of consciousness - if electromagnetic fields are consciousness [or derived therein] then it's conceivable the brain is merely a processing unit. This ties back into ancient wisdom where each part of the body and organs are related to other parts of the body.

The brain then, from a materialistic view would seem to operate only as well as everything else would be operating.
