Hotbot was the one I remember being really excited about.
When I was young I convinced my mom to buy me a Yellow Pages of the Internet. It was a thick low-quality book just like the actual Yellow Pages (maybe not too thick as I try to remember it), and it had a ton of websites in it. That book actually pointed me to Yahoo.com, and that's when it all clicked.
Edit: Something like this from 1995: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0078821827
Screensavers are a great way to get malware/viruses if you're not careful. At least, they were about 10 years back when I was still looking for them. I have several that I like and use. I'll link to them here. As always, user your malware scanners, etc, but I've used these for many years, and they seem to be trustworthy, in addition to being cool:
There's a decent little collection here. I especially love HYPERSPACE. The flying through space effect is great, but I discovered something really neat by playing with the settings. You can get some really fantastic effects, kind of like oil on water, or rippling satin sheets. I listen to music a lot, so when the screensaver kicks in after 4 minutes, I come back to a dual-monitor lasarium show, like the best plugins for WinAmp used to do.
Thought I'd share.
Wow, you do have me beat! Reddit was created in June of 2005, so you got in before the first year was up.
My only claim to elder Internet fame is a 4-digit Slashdot account ID. It's 8080 and I think I created the account in the 90s. My oldest usenet post was back in 1993 where I asked about Linux drivers or something.
I've been on the Internet a looooong time.
Antop Digital Smartpass Amplifier HDTV Antenna 80 Miles Multi-Directional VHF/UHF High Gain Reception - I've been using it for ~5 years with spectacular results - I live in the middle of fucking nowhere and shouldn't really be able to pull many channels at all. Their customer support is awesome as well, my parrot chewed up the amplifier and they sent me a replacement for free 3 years after I bought it. The ANTOP AT-800SBSJ HD Smart Panel: HDTV FM Amplified Outdoor/Indoor(Attic) Antenna with Smart Boost System, 85 mile range is supposed to be better, if I were buying today that's what I'd get.
We went through so many joysticks it was unreal. The cool thing is that the 2600, 800XL, and the C64 all used the same joystick port. (ADDED - I just remembered that the Amiga 500 also used the same joystick)
Summer Games, Track and Field, Decathalon all killed the joystick. And depending on your technique, you could get blisters on your hands like noone's business.
Anyway, this was all true, until we found the best joystick ever made. The Suncom Slik Stik. You literally could not break it. The little ball on the top was great if you used the "palm" technique for sprinting games. The button was such a satisfying click. Just perfect.
Some industries still require a live hardcopy paper log, and there isn't really a better solution for that. Dot matrix printers require minimal maintenance and are basically indestructible as long as you keep them somewhat clean, and have good ribbon cartridges.
Continuous feed paper is still pretty available.
Oki Data even still sells new impact printers, with USB and modern drivers!
night light on windows and reader mode on your monitor if it has it. Reduces the blue light emitted from the screen, which makes whites less bright. it'll look weird at first but you will get used to it.
Ambient lighting strip behind the monitor will also greatly reduce the strain on your eyes.
I don’t feel like I’m that old (upper thirties), but I have a set of these. To be fair, they were handed down from my mother/grandmother, so they are pretty old. You can still buy these, though.
I was fascinated by Aeon Flux. I even have a book my husband bought me!
If you want a real FuckInOld moment, check out the reviews for this modem. Keep in mind this was from the early 2000’s, so this was after they made things standardized and easy (like try doing this stuff under windows 3.1 or DOS):
> Installation was pretty easy although I spent a few hours on it and a few phone calls to tech support who were very attentive and helpfull. The problem I experienced is because Windows XP automatically assign the modem with IRQ. In most cases windows will share the same IRQ between different items. This approach usually works however sometimes it creates conflicts although windows shows none. So the only thing you can do, is start moving the card from one slot to the other and rebooting, until windows will assign the right combination of IRQ. Given that you need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for each slot, this can take some time. However it is only fair to say THIS ISN't CREATIVE's fault. it can happen with any card.
And another:
> Download the correct driver from Creative's site, save it and don't install it yet. Uninstall your modems drivers and any other traces of it you can find. Check to make sure that no sign of it is found in the device manager or in the control panel under the two icons MODEMS and PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS. You may want to at this time see if you have anything under your Program Files folder that belongs to your old modem and get rid of it as well. Shut down PC, unplug, remove modem card. Restart your PC with NO modem cards in it. Install the driver file you downloaded from Creative which as of this writing is DI5361WinXPDRV.exe. Shut off your PC and unplug. Install ModemBlaster PCI card. Restart PC, if all goes well, the card will be recognized as a ModemBlaster and not a generic.
I have this one game I enjoyed on my first Android device - the LG Optimus with a whopping 512MB of RAM running Android FroYo (v2.2). I just found it on the play store recently & it claims it was updated in December, but it doesn't deal with the screen size properly so some shots just aren't possible, leaving me stuck on a level I can't get past. Game specs claim it'll run on Android 1.1+.
That was kinda the point I was illustrating. If someone is gonna give a kid shit for wearing a band t-shirt and not being super familiar with them, then fine let’s turn that around and see how much you know!
By the way, I only know all of that shit because I read this really awesome biography about Nirvana. It not only documents Nirvana’s rise and fall, but the entire Seattle scene in general by a guy who was there for all of it. It’s a pretty hefty book (close to 700 pages), but if you’re into that scene, it’s an excellent read! By the way, the author of the book is the one who rolled Kurt out on stage 😁

I keep ending up with these bent metal things that would rather chop my fingers off than help me cook. WTF's with that? Something like these shitty things: https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Stainless-Kitchen-Non-Slip-16-Inch/dp/B07W34Y7CW
It's like it's all they make.
My bike is about 15 years old and it has thumb-switch ratchet things like this.
I don't know what the norm is these days.

HD DVD Player, CD Players for Home, DVD Players for TV, HDMI and RCA Cable Included, Up-Convert to HD 1080p, Multi Region, Breakpoint Memory, Built-in PAL/NTSC, USB 2.0 is 40 bucks. I just bought one as a backup to my Sony DVD players.
Yep, of course it's available on Amazon too but now there are gummies too! There's also a small history on that second link.
>Fruit Stripe gum launched in the early 1960’s as an extension of the Beech Nut gum line. It is the only gum with painted on stripes. Yipes is the name of the Fruit Stripe Zebra.
So TIL the zebra has a name & it's Yipes.
I’m in the UK, I’m not sure but it feels like they release one of these every 6 months.
If you get a chance watch the Creem documentary.
I still have a DLR Creem cover that changed my life. I saw it at 7-11 & thought "I don't know if that's a man or a woman....wait..**picksupmag**hairy chest....ia dude...." & I went home & took down all my Leif Garrett pics & put that cover up instead.
TLDR: David Lee Roth helped kickstart pubery for me!!LOL!!
Pedro Zamora.
Before he made it big in comics, Pedro's housemate Judd Winick wrote and illustrated a graphic novel and about his friendship with Pedro. It's really good.

I think I might have the best and the same experience as you
I thought the same when looking for some scissors I could keep in my bag. But I think it could be cause advancements in pocket scissors design
