How much does it weigh? I'd take it to a jewler to get tested.
That's not an actual coin in the ring, the real 1821-1947 50 peso coin is big. So it's just an engraving of the coin on a ring. Hard to say what the ring is made of though.

Yamana Gold. I hold about 2000 shares. They're opening a new mine in Argentina in 2018, their price is bargain basement right now, and they've spent the last 1+ year cleaning their books up. When the bear market in stocks hits in 2018, gold price will rise and thus their stock too as it coincides with increased production. https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/09/14/why-i-love-yamana-gold-inc.aspx
Do you have a bookshelf? Try this. Its not a safe but the point is to make it difficult for someone to find. Thief want to get in and out ASAP. They go for the things in plane site and will actively look for safe.
Personally I love crypto I bought a bunch more today

Then once it goes back up I always sell my crypto for PMs to cover premiums and then some. Just my method everyone's different

Thanks that's a perfect description. I've bought a lot of jewelry and the scratch test I bought came with a pretty smooth surface dark granite type of rock with deeo green hues. A rougher, darker abbrassive surface (like a black chalkboard) would be ideal as some of the pieces had to be confirmed at my jeweler.
For my purposes, an 18k piece that detects between 17 and 19k would be good enough.
The one I was considering is
Pieces of Eight is the best book, but its not main stream and its 100% academic. It might be the greatest book/media on money and gold ever published. The problem is that its out of print. Its a huge two volume set. I was lucky enough to inter loan library (ILL) it when I was in college 15 years ago.
I bought this one... Works pretty well.

I found one that is very similar, the clasps are almost identical. Necklace Found.
Nice my grandpas fought for the Wehrmacht so that would close the circle, as we say in Germany.
Pretty dark actually. I’ve read an account of the assistant of Mengele, a Jewish doctor. He wrote about Jewish dentists that had to remove bones etc from gold teeth and melt them. He also wrote about those people use the gold they hid away to exchange it for goods or the possibility to send a message with the SS-guards, obviously for ridiculous „rates“.

Here is a book link which can change lives. It is mainly about central bank digital currencies (new e-dollar) but has an unbelievably explanatory section for the gold standard in US and also great info about silver.

It’s pretty easy to test it on yourself, all you need is a test kit like this:

If you are doing a 1oz, quite a few people have had success with Nationwide coin spot deal. Just avoid when they try to upsell you to other overpriced stuff.
You can check a few online prices and then call/shop around a couple local dealers to compare. I prefer buying local.
Yeah that’s absolutely scary, especially when things like this https://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Tungsten-Service-99-95-Pure/dp/B08VSB61GV/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=47EV3JPLOOQR&keywords=tungsten+coin&qid=1661805999&sprefix=tungsten+coin%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVh... are available on Amazon, not the right weight or diameter but in the right hands I’m sure any thing is possible.

Good thinking. Here is a perfect place for you and your stash, SWP Grand Cayman. Everything you wanted and more. If you want more diversified place go with Kinesis. In many ways it is a perfect solution. Their headquarters is on Caymans as well. I have both. But then I think our ultimate goal would be BYOB. Be Your Own Bank. Get an acid test set (cheap on Amazon) to test gold (10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, platinum) or silver. This is a good value set b/c it includes a 10x jewelers loop which will be easier to use in the field than a 10x30 loop. Look at some youtube videos about how to use the test kit, it's really EASY and does not leave marks on items if you scrape a sample from the gold or silver onto the test stone. https://www.amazon.com/PuriTEST-SILVER-SOLUTIONS-STONES-JEWELERS-LOOP/dp/B00OBWUFJO/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2HTNAC0UX5KP3&keywords=gold+test+set&qid=1646073876&sprefix=gold+test+set%2Caps%2C529&sr=8-2 Use a black ceramic "stone" for gold and a white ceramic stone for testing silver b/c the silver test results are so much easier to see on a white stone. https://www.amazon.com/Puritest-Stones-Platinum-Testing-Product/dp/B00BR1XG70/ref=pd_bxgy_2/130-4015709-5989815?pd_rd_w=RZdhU&pf_rd_p=6b3eefea-7b16-43e9-bc45-2e332cbf99da&pf_rd_r=15S654QTVP087WYNQZJJ&pd_rd_r=89ef5454-2dc7-449c-8f89-165...
Another great method to minimize fraud is to buy a gold meter like a GEMORA or a KEE test meter which are not quite as accurate as the super expensive test meters used in LCS or pawn shops but the GEMORA or KEE meters are accurate and portable (battery option). Between an acid test and a meter test, you'll feel so much more confident in your ability to spot the inevitable fraudulent pieces of you'll see on the market. Good luck out there!
I would do something completely different. Open Kinesis account and buy gold no silver there. It will solve a many issues your are encountering. You get lowest cost, you can buy fractional amounts, you don’t pay for storage, it is stored in neutral to you jurisdiction, easy to buy more, easy to sell whenever you want and soon there will be a debit card based on metal holdings so you will never need to carry metals to the coin shop or anywhere to exchange it for fiat. Lastly, But then I think our ultimate goal would be BYOB. Be Your Own Bank. So I wrote a book about how to Be Your Own Bank. It is found here:

They can certainly attack centralised exchanges, forbid them from offering services to their citizens. It's the only real vector of attack they have, and it would certainly be a setback. But there are decentralised exchanges too (e.g. Bisq), which are not as easy to get into, but are the fallback option if governments ever did decide to go down that road. A setback, not a killing blow.
this reminds me of an article I read a while back where a woman got cancer from radioactive gold made into a wedding ring. before the gold was a ring it was used for cancer treatment. kind of ironic

Goldmoney recent reviews:
Interesting. Seems they had some delivery problems around 2015. There is only one review after 2015 on that site, which is a bit odd.

On the other hand, I know that at times supply in precious metals dries up (for example gold bullion was sold out this December in Germany because of a new law coming into effect January 1st), so this could explain that.

Google over speculation or massive speculation or any variant on that phrase and add "in the gold market" and you'll get a ton of different articles. Although I still haven't found the authoritative one by UBS a few months back regarding this issue.
I found this article a week ago, and have been passing it around to friends. Thought I'd share it here.
It's titled, "Determining the True Inflation Adjusted Gold Price."

Check Amazon or eBay, entire kits go for ~$20
I'm not an expert. But I've seen a guy using something like below. His looked more like a pyramid shape which was sort of cool. The various metals and impurities form into different layers based on their weight. So a metal like gold would probably stay near the bottom while the other stuff would form in the upper layers.

Hello! Yesterday I took my watch in to get repaired, and I ended up picking up a gold chain - something I had been thinking about doing for a long time. However, I'm very ignorant when it comes to gold/jewelry prices, and was wondering if someone from this subreddit could tell me if I purchased this for a good price?
I found this on Amazon, and it appears I could have overpaid?
The acid scratch test is reliable. If you cannot purchase it off Amazon because of restrictions in your country, going to a REPUTABLE Jeweler with an in-store goldsmith, will help you get definitive proof either way. Ideally though, I’d hope you can purchase a simple acid test kit for gold. You can get them for the full spectrum of gold: 18k, 14k, 10k, and they tend to cost the most. You really likely only need one that goes up to 14k where it is a cast piece. They come in little squeeze drip bottles. I’d be very surprised if you weren’t able to purchase it online.

Here’s a simple one that includes 18k identification. Check out the illustrations included with this one. It shows you examples of what the different scratch identifiers look like. Enjoy your adventure into the world of gold. I’ve been involved in the jewelry trade since 1979.
Be careful with what you choose. Here's an idea (see link to amazon item), you can probably buy these at LCS as well. Your gold is still an ounce of gold and that is where the value is at but the ding may cost you a very slight amount if you ever go to sell. No worries, we all do this on occasion. There is really no perfect holders, hope you find something that works best for you. Here's a link and they have tons of these is you search flip coin holders or similar phrase. https://smile.amazon.com/Collections-Collecting-Protection-Supplies-Weathering/dp/B07RSXNVWK/ref=sr_1_47?dchild=1&keywords=coin+holders+clear+flip&qid=1628928533&sr=8-47

Depending on how much you're storing, look at the Vaultek MX series. It's a steep price but if you're storing thousands or tens of thousands of dollars worth of PMs it's worth it. I have the slider series for a handgun next to my bed and it's fantastic.

If you're serious about the best protection, these are amazing
>Any advice on specific audio spectrum analyzer apps?
On Android, I've had success with Advanced Spectrum Analyzer Pro. Any app that performs similarly should do, so this is not a particular endorsement. I don't use iOS so I can't comment there. On a desktop PC you can use (and I would highly endorse) Audacity.
There are a number of apps specific to recognizing coin pings. I don't endorse the concept of a special-purpose coin app, as these are closed source, proprietary, and don't have verified ping data or methodology (they're not independently verified for trustworthy coin parameters and diagnostic quality). You also have to worry about eavesdropping and security.
Instead you should know the ping frequencies independently, and use an independent spectrum analyzer to perform testing. Hence I've published my ping frequency tables here in /r/Gold from time to time.
Hmm, I’m not sure on these. If you are in a ‘western’ country, I think all rings are supposed to be marked.
The light spot appears to be a repair, but not sure why anyone would repair a ring if it wasn’t gold.
I would probably take them to a jeweler, or a pawn shop. They’d probably test them for you.
Or you could get yourself a testing kit. Amazon sells them for $12-20 depending on the kit. I would suggest getting yourself a kit if you plan on buying and selling gold jewelry.

I haven't read all the comments, but you haven't mentioned how much it weighs. If it weighs 31.1g and has the proper dimensions, then one would think you would have to be ok.
Buy a scale on Amazon..they are only $14:

Simpler, and just as reliable I would say, in todays market. Bonus points: It also validates older coins without the engraving.
