I have this Tung Sol one that a lot of people seem to enjoy. It’s great for providing more of a classic tube sound (darker, more distortion, and can help to neuter sharp treble). I just prefer the PSvane tube as it has better bass extension and less distortion without sacrificing any detail in the treble. Still retains a nice, warm sound but is much cleaner than a lot of people look for in a tube. It sounds more like a class A solid state than a traditional tube amplifier.
Mostly I spent a lot of time on experimenting with the drivers and cups, I settled with some kind of home-made "DYI" Lawton mod, like this.
It tightened up the sound of X00 so much, bass and mids are separate things suddenly, every detail stands out much more now, very enjoyable and worth doing imo. Next up was a combination of attenuation rings under the pads and rotation the original foam around the drivers. I've tried many more things than that, but I settled on those since in this case, "less is more" and new wooden cups + foam on the drivers really makes these shine. The rest is just to correct the tonality. If someone wants a darker sound, they can place a thin piece of felt directly over the speakers, tho I prefer it without it :) (felt over the driver also tames the sibilance but makes the sound less airy which I dislike)
EDIT: In case you're wondering, I used this foam for the driver mod. Amazon link here
The one in the photo is made by Silverstone. It's on Amazon. Another similar one and similarly priced is the Woo Audio stands. They both are extremely well built and can do alot of damage for self defense. Haha
A cheaper alternative is this one: Solid Base Dual Sides Aluminum... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C37TOXQ
It has a smaller width rest though but surprisingly well built.
Cheers man! This is the "shelf". I removed the legs on the front side (from the pic's perspective) and rest it on the Asgard 3 with some rubber spacers. I'm quite happy with the result, saves me quite a bit of desk real-estate haha.
You can use whatever power cord you want that connects to the standard 3 pin plug on the back of the Formula S or Powerman. Initially I just used a generic one that probably came with a PC power supply or monitor, I'm not sure which. Now though I am using this: Audiocrast Power Cable. It's very stiff and heavy but it looks nice. Someone mentioned Audio Envy cables to me the other day so I might pick up some from them in the future.
it's a 4.4mm balanced but they have a standard 3.5mm version as well

Forget the name...cheap from Amazon but it does surprisingly well. Crisp highs, warm mids, okay bass but that’s what the SUBPAC is there to substitute haha

The only sound changes ive noticed is an increase in sub bass.
Dekoni Audio Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BYYJRL8
I only swapped because the sheepskin is my preference. But they do relax the treble peak a bit and enhances the bass for sure. Didn't change the vocals hardly at all though which is what I love about these cans and would have been a deal breaker.
Well, first of all, are we referring to the same cable? The one I got is this one - Ablet. From where I stand this cable is really worth the money, I have no idea if it differs sonically compared to the standard single ended cable or the balanced cabled I have from custom cans UK, but it's simply the way I have wanted it to be: nice connectors, nice Y splitter, great looks and handling.

Interesting will look at the psa1+ but might pickup a cheap arm since I don't want to invest too much and the quadcast uses a adapter I think, I was thinking something like this Luling Arts Microphone Arm Stand for Blue Yeti,Snowball,SM7B,Heavy Duty Mic Boom Arm Stands Desk Suspension Mic Scissor Arm Stands with Mic clips,Screw Adapter,Cable for Recording,Quadcast https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099NBNM3K/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_E7RRT44VZ7Q6BJB8SCN8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks! This one is Pueblo leather, you can get faux leather here:
The volume knob is this one:
mxuteuk Black Aluminum Alloy... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TZ3M6F5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The tubes are Tung Sol 5998 and Genalex Gold Lions.
They match very nicely. The general consensus is that ZMF headphones pair best with a good tube amp.
I've only really had Schiit Gear, but I think you're doing great with Burson anyways.
As for a stand, I spent a bit of time trying to find the best option. The Meze Couch looks great, but it is bulky (as you mentioned) and doesn't work for all settings. It does really show off the Empyreans though. After some consideration, I just decided on something cheap from Amazon until something else catches my eye.
Navaris Omega Headphone Stand -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QH5NMPH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The beauty of the pads is that they can be switched so easily. Awesome design.
I didn’t put the ear hooks on a set of aftermarket balanced cables. I just swapped the stock ones with the balanced.

Download this app, then use the preloaded profiles for the Elegia. The profiles are created to match the Harmon standard, there's a really big community over at Github involved with this app, give it a try.
Thank you for that! Unfortunately they are sold out. The good thing is that i found a similar product here in the US that is 2 for $16. It looks very solid. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LVZ7WCF/ref=cm_sw_r_sm_apa_fabc_DC56H0VAVGX0PW9EWE4E?psc=1
Here's the link :) There are similar pouches from other companies but I like the iFi logo and it comes with earplugs lol.
Hello,
I was wondering if you could point out which pads I should get from this Canadian listing, as it's a bit different from yours:
I'm looking to improve the isolation>comfort>stage in that order.
Thank you for your time!
They sound so beautiful and warming, the bass is "delicious", for the price they are amazing.
I will strongly recommend to change your cable, the stock cable is fragile, I personally bought the Tripowin C8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SS9DB16/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_0FR6Fb2F48MKR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Or you can also purchase the Yinyoo one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PHFJ67T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_qLR6FbPT5D7ED
I'm not really sure if the sound changes between these 2 cables, but definitely there is an improve between the Tripowin and the stock cable.
You caught me, I watch Z-reviews 🤷🏻♂️
Figured I’d give these a shot to breathe some life into my Kph30i as I much prefer the sound signature of the Porta-Pros (a little warmer and has more low end when swapped with Yaxi pads).
These are the pads I went with: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071VXQNR9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_WiS4FbDE4K971 Arrived in about 2 weeks.
So I didn’t cut the pads to adapt the fixed cables on the cups because I’m actually looking to do the mmcx mod on these eventually and will make a smaller hole on the bottom when the time comes. That being said, they really do fit quite well and the installation was a lot easier than using Yaxi Pads.
They are quite comfortable for what they are. The material could definitely be softer but you get what you pay for. I’ve never been a fan of on ear but I start to forget I’m wearing these after a while which is a win in my book.
So do the Grado pads actually make a difference? Yeah, both good and bad. The soundstage pulls out a bit (and imaging gets a little better) they become slightly warmer and the low end gets a little beefier. The only issue is that since they have to sit farther away from your ear due to the larger pad size, you have to push them quite a bit harder with whatever your amplification is. For reference I’m using a Topping A90 fed by an RME ADI-2fs. The Kph30i bass was never that heavy or detailed. But since you have to push more power through them to get to a pleasant listening level, the bass becomes noticeably muddy (IMO).
So would I recommend these over Yaxi pads? No. I prefer the near stock sound you get from the Yaxi over the benefits of the Grado pads. In my opinion, these are really only for people like me who are just fucking around or for people who don’t want to pull apart their Koss to install the Yaxi pads (for whatever reason).
These won’t replace any entry level popular headphone on the market but they do look cool.

Oh and I have this preamp tube as well that I’m not using:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HQZ27UW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_b71FFbN7HJNDH
If you’re interested, I could sent it to you for no charge! It’s a nice little tube but I just preferred the other one I went with. It’s already been burned in!
My preamp tube: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E8RNUZM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And my power tube: https://www.thetubestore.com/winged-c-6h13c-6as7g
I use these tubes. They’re 100% amazing after about 80hrs of burn in (got rid of all the buzzing). Everything sound so creamy and smooth with this combo.
It sounds amazing. Still breaking the tubes in. It adds a bit of mellow warmth over things without making them muddy. Worth every penny.
I also swapped the tubes with these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J671QV3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nQquFbAJKKT24
And swapped the power supply with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073QTNF9F/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_gRquFb9AY5F50
They're bigger and softer, which makes them much more comfortable, and they improve the clarity of the sound as well. Plus they come in fun colors.
Well, I saw Amazon selling a black nylon spacer kit that includes 6mm M2 spacers (~0.25"). I didn't want to shell $10 just for those, but maybe I will eventually, haha
Cable is from periapt cables. Their website shows very little options for colors but make sure to email them! My current cable scheme wasn't listed but I asked what colors they had so I chose my current pair.
The stand I got from amazon. Should be this Link
Those look great, last week I was shopping for a longer cable for my Sundaras, and was deciding between those and these on Amazon. I ended up choosing the Amazon one because I would get it faster. Not disappointed, though.
Just bought a pair of these bad boys from Ebay "used" with no box but are still very "Brand new" for $130+Tax... Almost bought some from amazon warehouse with a "damaged" box for $150... who needs the box anyway. Amazon has referb pair for $130 used too.. https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR1AM2-Resolution-Headphones-Refurbished/dp/B07F1WS11P/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=1am2&link_code=qs&qid=1589125879&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-2
I'd say they are worth 150 but not the $300 asking price from Sonys website..
So very light I can wear them all day.. I wish they had a tiny bit more bass but they are more accurate to the recordings as intended. They have a very wide stereo sound and almost makes stuff sound like theyre right there in the room with you. I'm noticing tiny little flaws of edits in songs I never noticed before already.. My ears are kind of small and do fit all the way inside the holes
Rando Dongle DAC from Amazon....
Found it: Moshi Integra Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter [MFi Certified], Ballistic Nylon Braided, Aluminum Housings, Exceeds 10,000 Bend Cycles, for iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, Jet Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H8L3VFV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bOSHEbEMRZMW7
Just search "braided IEC power cable" (without the quotes) on Amazon for more options
Big upgrade from my old KZ ES4 so I am very happy. Supposedly there is a lighter cable on the purple set, more copper color than brown. Had I known, I might have gone purple. Went Amazon due to lack of patience.
Well, I couldn't find the pictures but IIRC, the mod I did consisted of:
If I decide to get another pair, I'll try to do a more comprehensive guide.
This case isn't just for its insane durability. I got it so people know they're in for something special when my friends demo these. In contrast to the outside, the case is lined with a very soft, almost bouncy rubber freeing up any worry of clanking around. I'll be honest here. The first twenty or thirty times screwing the lid back on felt sort of scratchy and unnatural. It's fine now. Smooth without any noise at all. Anyone interested can find it here
I found one pair of chrome's on amazon tho https://www.amazon.com/BeyerDynamic-Premium-Special-Version-717258/dp/B075F9PDGM?th=1

I'd recommend you look into the https://www.amazon.com/Micca-OriGen-G2-Resolution-Preamplifier/dp/B01N14SY65, which I just got, works perfectly on windows now & linux & mac osx :) Has more features too, and sounds great.
You can get the fake ones on ali or amazon for like $40.
The real original Sieveking Sound Omega Heaphone Stands are like $180.
I have had both and returned my Sieveking because it was the same identical one to the one I bought on Amazon.
Although the black ones seem to be out of stock.
