Sounds like you need to read So Pretty/Very Rotton. It has interviews and essays by Novala Takemoto (writer of Kamikaze Girls, and a longtime lolita fashion expert), as well as personal insights from several lolitas. Also, I recommend F Yeah Lolita. It's not updated anymore, but a lot of her articles are very well researched and touch on the early history of lolita fashion.
Dress is handmade from Otome no Sewing 7
Antler headdress is handmade
Blouse is Infanta
Shoes are some junk from Amazon
otks stand for over the knee socks! i know it’s hard to wait but it seems like you have a lot going on, and that everything is really stressful. maybe just take some time to do like collages of coords first(coord collage instead of buying your pieces, that’s what i did!
to help you more with lolita, here’s the crash course from the lolita amino! this guide helped me so much, and i hope it’ll help you too!
and no worries dude, it happens! hope you’re feeling better now.
I didn’t know so many people would be interested! I’m going to live link here, hopefully it is OK for this community to do so. Pink and blue Lolita hangers
You could add an apron of sorts similar to this one.
Petticoat, decorated straw hat, ect.... And it I think it would turn out pretty cute.
i know, this one was good quality tho :< i think it was this one, a pretty good quality for the price honestly. amazon can be good so long as you make sure to check pictures and reviews! besides this dress though i haven't really seen a lot of good stuff on there when it comes to finding actual lolita stuff.
i did make an order off devilinspired recently! it hasn't come yet of course since i just ordered. though, people say it's overpriced but it seemed about the same price as other places to me? i'm trying to figure out taobao shopping services as well but it seems a bit complicated and it looks like there's lots of fees here and there that kinda add up and makes it just as expensive as the resellers. so im not even sure what's better by now :')
When you say you're allergic to allergic to most accessories, do you mean you have a metal sensitivity or do you not like them? Because adding a retro plastic chunky bracelet or a flashy headscarf can help tie it together. Take it even further with some red nail polish!
I would also shy away from adding black to this. There is not a lot of black in the print to warrant lots of black accessories. Consider cream, tan, or red shoes with a similar jacket.
Love the belt and sunglasses! You could tie the accent theme even further together by adding a heart keychain into your bag!
Great look, love the idea!
Alright don't judge too much. But it's from Amazon. It's not a copy or anything though it's from a steampunk shop called scarlet darkness. I'll post the link below. They're blouses are made of a thicker stretchy material. I wouldn't call it cheap but I wouldn't call it too fancy either. The shop focuses on more stuff that can be worn comfortably for fairs and events. I have two blouses from them, this and another and I like them because my shoulders tend to fit awkward in most blouses and the stretch of the fabric means I can get a small and make it work comfortably. I think they're comfortable though but they aren't designed for Lolita so don't expect Lolita quality cotton. It's nothing like that.

Hello! I am so glad I have found this thread because I need you help!!.. I am doing a market research on handmade 'kawaii' jewellery and am trying to identify the type of customers within this market. It's very hard to find statistics on this market, and confusing as the Japanese Pop Culture market is booming each year. I would really appreciate it if you could answer a few quick questions from the link below or if you know anyone who is into kawaii, please could you share the link.

Thank you soo much.
If your interested in giveaways I will doing a giveaway of cute handmade accessories on my instagram and blog soon!

Once again, thank you so much!!
There's no such uk site, where in the world did you hear that!? I ordered from the actual global store. Four times. They managed to get my order correct only once. You can check trustpilot, Sitejabber or reviews in this reddit, a lot of people have the same issues and that's not even starting on their Insane markups.
Smiling Angel Sweet Lolita Printed Rabbit Dress Sleeveless Chiffon Lace JSK Princess Dress https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W4476SD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7C6356MAZP8JQPR38G8K Is this shop legit or is it just a scam? I’m interested in this dress in particular but I’m not sure.
I've been interested in the fashion since the first Obama presidency but have never pulled the trigger. Mr Ptarmigan, being an absolute delight, got on Amazon and ordered a dress. I realize that is not ideal but, first dress/gift/etc. What do you recommend pairing with it to make a coord? He ordered the green. I'm 5'2" and age 42. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083TQKZQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_7KQ11QB5RHJPX3712P5C
This blouse is the one I got. Looks like the sale is over, but the medium in black is still only 12.99.
I purchased something similar on Amazon a few months ago for the summer. The one I got was definitely a hoop skirt with pull strings to adjust as well as adjustable hoops. There's also some overskirt things going on to smooth the hoops, but it was really flexible in terms of getting the shape you wanted. It does have limits with how long or short you can get it, but I think it was well worth it for the hot summer months.

Maybe black/ pink ribbon otks and pink shoes. Black and pink wrist cuffs. Some bracelets with blue and white color. A large black bow headpiece with smaller pink, blue, and white bows. Cat plushie bag i seen a pink pusheen bag on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Pusheen-Mint-Pastel-Cross-Shoulder/dp/B078YCL78H/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=pusheen%2Bbag&qid=1600882354&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1 Some options. I think most of the other accessories you can get from angelic pretty. But etsy has some really nice unique accessories id recommend them.
What do you all think if I wore something like this to homecoming? I think this lolita dress is beautiful <3 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B094JBHRJ5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1 I've been to a homecoming before where all the regular people were tight dresses with spaghetti straps, but this homecoming I want to do some cute lolita with this dress, white tights, and black dress shoes and I think it'll also be cool because itll look good in freezing January weather. What do you all think though? <3
Tbh even though the shoes aren’t the best match, I think most everyone understands you have to make allowances for the weather and such!
Highly recommend getting a pair or two of thermal tights for winter lolita, or something like these, I have a very similar pair and they help so much in keeping warm, and I can just layer a pair of cute socks over that.
I’d also suggest getting a mini steamer if you go to cons a lot, just another thing that helps a lot with getting outfits to look nice after they’ve been in a suitcase :)
(Sorry if you know about these already, but they’re just things I find helpful personally)
I haven't used this one but it's the same length as my beginner one (45cm) which I found perfect for angelic pretty pieces :) looks like it has good reviews too with pics from lolitas :D
I'm not sure what country you live in or if you're planning to buy extra things but etsy has cute star accessories like this star scrunchy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1022607126/star-bow-scrunchies-celestial-gold-star?click_key=e23011c8b8ba68fb9b0be31f3f98028edbff71fe%3A1022607126&click_sum=c8bdd1b3&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&g...
You could also look for some constellation necklaces or you could get like those zodiac bracelets and necklaces. You could even try star head peices and head bands. I even found some metallic star hair clips on Amazon which you can put on individually. https://www.amazon.com/Yean-Bridal-Clips-Vingate-Packs/dp/B01JFQTODS
You don't need to make one! Well, you can but it's definitely easier to buy one unless you have the tailoring and sewing knowhow.
Here's the link to the seller on lace-market: https://egl.circlly.com/users/tulutulu This person regularly gets new hoop skirts in stock. If you make an account and get approved, message then and its likely they can help you get one :)
I know lots of people shun amazon/ebay/brand store "lolita" and rightly so, but a suitable hoop skirt from amazon is virtually no different and will do just fine for your first few coords until you decide to expand your wardrobe
Some of the top reviews for this one are from lolita wearers. This is on the UK amazon so results may vary for your country.
Just be careful buying anything lolita from amazon etc. Its only really okay for miscellaneous accessories (and a petticoat in this case). I would 100% look elsewhere for actual lolita pieces.
The silhouette is an integral part of lolita. To start out, just remember your skirt has to have some form of poof and it should make a cupcake shape or an 'A' shape :)
When I was learning about lolita I watched so many dress reviews videos, so many lolita guides, scoured the wiki and lolibrary to learn the 'types' of lolita. You develop an eye for it in time :)
oh, sorry about the link. Does this one work? I hope you can see what I mean now. I can’t really pair it with any of my clothes, because as I’ve said I’m leaning towards gothic/kuro lolita. Also, I’m not really a big fan of backpacks. Maybe I should really do as you did and try to find a non-lolita brand bag that still fits. I’ll look up the brands you suggested too.
I think one of the easiest and also handiest things is just to incorporate a lot of frill, silk and check if you like it. There are a lot of cloths about like this, which us ruffle lovers will recognize but to others just look pretty cute. There's a lot of lace to go around- tablecloths, bouquet wrappings, stuff like that. A lot of this you can get in pink/blue too if you don't want the pure white wedding thing. You can get a lot of pearly decals too, there's a lot of "normal" wedding stuff that is usable for elegant lolita. Bows too. There's a lot, it's just about linking it back to your own aesthetic.
About the others, because ele lolita is so applicable you can throw in gloves and socks and bows and it wouldn't be too out of place (depending on the cut). For guests maybe you could ask them to dress lighter colors+ frilly, most people have at least a frilly blouse or dress in their wardrobe. I don't think that would be too out of hand considering how crazy people get with dress schemes nowadays. If not so specific, maybe ask guests to wear pastel/neutrals, if you don't I guarantee someone will show up in a red bodycon dress they wear the work and ruin all your photos. If you care about that, I mean, I am projecting a bit XD
It's your day, be selfish, weddings are one of the only times where everyone will accept your demands :)
https://www.amazon.com/Antaina-Cotton-Ruffle-Victorian-Cosplay/dp/B01N9FPFQM I always see this dress floating around Amazon, Aliexpress and Pinterest. Could you help me find the original dress brand/name as I am pretty sure the Ali and Amazon ones are just replicas of an original design. If you can’t help me find this particular dress I would appreciate if you knew any similar ones thank you!! I just can’t stop thinking about this dress QwQ
Could you possibly replace the handles with something that goes well with the purse? I’ve never purchased an AP purse but I’ve done similar with other purses! Maybe something in another color, like white, similar to these would look nice, just so you don’t have to try to match the color? I also saw some fake pearl ones that might look cute, but it also might not be your style or could look cheap. Just a thought! Best of luck, the purse is really cute and I hope you find a solution!
i want to find the brand that makes these shoes . i bought them on amazon for abt 40 usd and they're really nice quality, it says "isunny" inside the shoe but when i looked that up i couldn't find anything. amazon says they're by a brand called lorie & knight which is a lolita brand (it seems) but if that were the case i'd think they'd say that somewhere on the inside or sole of the shoe.
I've done lace-trimmed socks with opaque tights myself, in white. IMO, it looks a little funky, since it looks like your tights just grew a random row of lace. But you should get black lace socks anyway, so there's no harm in trying it out yourself.
But black lace socks with semi-sheer tights would be great! You could also look for tight-knit lace tights. Not fishnet, lace. Something like this.
Yeah you really don't wanna trust washers for dresses. I'm glad the damage was minimum. I usually wash my dresses hand washing or this hand wash machine it's expensive sadly but hasn't caused crazy damage but you still need to be gentle with some items. I do use my dryer tho lol
I got it as a set on Amazon with the dress and blouse : Cute and Gorgeous Print Bunny Band Sleeveless JSK Princess Halloween Christmas Weekend Party Dress Three-Piece https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MPBBQBJ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_GTNAYGYYE28AYSWBC18G?psc=1
But you can get it by itself here : https://lolita.bhiner.com/taobao-agent/631612195638
what you can do though is buy shoe clips something like this and then glue bows. it’s actually pretty smart because that means that the shoes are more versatile than regular lolita shoes
I was thinking something like Led glasses could work, but some recommendations of other accessories and headwear would be appreciated!
I totally would get some holographic shoes to go with it cuz that would be so cute with some blue tights or tights with stars.
Or maybe something like this Super Shimmery Oil Shiny Plus Footed Thigh High Sheer Hold Up Pantyhose Stockings 30 Den Tights https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KG7KHZ9/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_P9Y2DHK6B0BM8CWB1KP5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
With some cute holographic Dolly shoes
Thats such a great idea thank you so much! Something like this could be really cool! : https://www.amazon.com/Glitter-Sequins-Crossbody-Star-Shaped-Shoulder/dp/B07TY9D3X1/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=star+purse&qid=1645255185&sr=8-4
I'll definitely keep my eye out until I find the perfect purse to match up :3
Amazon! It was a good find and good quality
Cute Kawaii Bunny Hoodie Jacket Coats for Women Fashion Japanese Fuzzy Fluffy Rabbit Hooded Sweatshirt Outwear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DKK12YZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_XWT4F3SYB9S4AMEHPC75?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There's so many dupes of this dress
All over Amazon and etsy...a lot of the etsy ones even seem legit but I can't tell :(
You could possibly get crafty with it and make your own head piece. A headband with roses in different shades of blue. OR I also think that a small hat such as this one or possibly something like this
ForeMode Fashion Women T-Strap... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CDFH8TD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I know some might consider it Ita but I got them on Amazon! They are amazing shoes, I wear them to work outside of lolita and they are super comfortable.
As of recently, there isn't really much in NY anymore that caters to lolita. The stores closed a few years ago unfortunately.
Getting a petticoat on Amazon is honestly pretty fine, like - it's underwear anyway and the more important thing is getting the right shape. Whatever brand or store you buy from, you just wanna get the right length and shape. I know people have had success with this petticoat, but your mileage may vary! I wouldn't really use it as a permanent petticoat, but on the fly it's probably fine.
Also, there's no need to worry. There's not like "regulations" about buying stuff from Amazon haha - we just really don't recommend people get anything from there, that's all. Most of us don't want people to waste money when they can get better things for the same price or even less.
I use one of these highly-adjustable hoops on those rare cases when I need maximum silhouette, and cover it with light floof to soften it. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJW6C9C
Otherwise, I strongly recommend MeLikesTea, Aurora & Ariel, or another reputable Lolita brand. It doesn't look like Cream & Sugar has them right now, alas.
Amazon is not the best place for proper underpinnings.
The best lolita patterns are in Japanese, it can be used by foreigners as they're pretty straightforward though. I can link those if it interests you, but I understand if that seens too hard!
McCalls has several "cosplay" patterns that work well for lolita. This one has a shirt and skirt or jsk. They're technically too plain for lolita so you will want to add ruffles and lace somewhere but they're a great base.
This pattern is technically too long in the body and too short in the skirt, but both are easily adjusted if you want to and it's one of the most easily obtained lolita patterns
If you're not opposed to Amazon these first two links are seriously awesome!
^This one is straight up a summer petti, good for layering another on top for extra poof while keeping the petti itself of your legs so your not sweating too too much lol.
^This lovely lady is mega poofy and I mean MEGA POOFY, I literally have an Aurora and Ariel Petti ( also an awesome petti but there always seems to be quite a wait for them since they're popular, on Devilinspired) that it rivals itself against! It's a tad on the long side for conventional skirts and jsks but a little pin and sew solves that! ( Or a snippy snip if your not opposed lol).
Here’s the embarrassing part… I got them on Amazon. Hopefully that doesn’t make people angry. They are pretty comfortable and seem well put together though, and weren’t too super expensive. Here’s the link.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z3YBP7Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used to be paranoid about sitting down and ruining my dress every single time I went out. But now I sit down in public in lolita all the time and if my dress gets dirty (which almost never happens) I just wash it! But if you're paranoid about ruining your dress like I was, I reccomend getting a small blanket that you can compact into a bag or something so you don't have to carry it around everywhere. I bought this blanket from Amazon and just attached it to my bag and carried it around with me whenever I went out in lolita!
You might need to look for larger mary jane shoes from normie brands. This usually works best with classic and gothic, not so much for sweet. For sweet you'll want to look at spring and summer collections. Brands to check out are Clarks, Doc Martens, Dansko, sometimes Naturalizer and other mid-tier fashion brands.
See, here are some dusty rose Clarks in an 11. Not super lolita, but no one is gonna be mad at you for wearing these. Hell, I might pick up a pair.
So I found a dress I like on Amazon, but I'm also kind of not sure about it? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X4666X7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_014NGD3XC8EXTV49K76D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's a lot cheaper than others I've seen, and it doesn't have reviews. Is it a knockoff? I can't even find plain dresses so cheap and it makes me suspicious. If anyone knows about it I'd really appreciate it because I'm really new to this and I don't know what's good online. I know sewing, but pictures don't really show seams and stuff usually.
Can anyone help me find this dress, I read a couple comments about how most Lolita dresses on Amazon are ripoffs or replicas and I would love to find the original dress! Topin Lolita Princess Dress Kawaii Long Sleeves Sweet Girl Chiffon Fancy Dress https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083ZG9FTX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M0Z1SWNZCYC7ZY2H46SR
Hi All, I am looking for a quickly available (i.e. Amazon) lolita petticoat for some of my dresses that are on their way. My actual voile petticoat has still not shipped out and I bought it with a preorder so I likely wont get it for another few months but I only have an a-line that I use for vintage so doesnt work with the lolita dresses I presently have. This is the one that I am looking at for the moment: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Y1SJRMB/ref=ewc_pr_img_3?smid=A1MZ9O8LB9IFBS&psc=1. Since its largely for temporary use I dont want to spend a lot of money, around $20 is good. I will likely repurpose it later.
Hi. I'm new to the fashion, and I just bought a coat, but realized I'm not entirely sure what to wear under it. Every piece similar I can find online or outfit I find goes all the way up to the neckline, so research hasn't yielded much helpful fruit. Some advice on this would be great. :)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VSYKNXS?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image
Maybe you can find some on amazon? I don't reccomend getting dresses there but it's great for shoes! Like these! they have size 11!
I like to use It Stays! when I wear OTKs!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765W3B6J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MTMT42E609ECVY8SKTAY
This is the one if anyone is curious. Doesn't come with the ribbons tied on the two sides but the lacing is there for you to add some
I understand that makes things a bit easier. I do have picture of the shoes. I found them on Amazon 😅. I can share the link. I am not sure how to attach a pic on a reply using my iPhone. 🙈shiny Mary Jane heels
These little pink hangers blew up!
If this helped you, maybe we could be friends? My Lolita fashion social ig is here. I am brand-new to the community, but stellar at fashion sourcing because of my previous years spent in the industry. I have four egl and cl gowns in production (that will be here in February/March), and have been designing a few of my own otome kei and casual looks currently as diy until the others arrive!
Dropped my social in the mega thread when I first joined, but it has been crickets 🥺👉👈🎀
For everyone just seeing this, here are the hangers!
So excited!! I have had this JSK in my closet for years, finally invested in pieces to fill out the outfit and the last main piece (the blouse) just arrived! Just need some dark themed accessories to complete the coord~
shoes, not pictured, are these
I'm probably not going to be the best person to ask about this, as I bought a petticoat which I needed to adjust because it was a lot bigger than expected, but in terms of a good lolita petticoat that you might be able to work with considering your budget this one from Amazon has a lot of positive reveiws from lolitas. Please keep in mind that Amazon is not always the best for lolita fashion, and that this item was found on American Amazon, but if saving up for a brand petticoat is not in your option right now this could be a good starter one that you do not have to double up.

can you tell me which brands these two are actually from? :)
"White blouse Black skirt"
and the very first one (all black) in OP's link?
I have to have them! _
I'll include a link at the end of this comment. Do you have any ideas where I could find some coord pieces for larger sizes? Partiss Women Long Sleeves With Bowknot Classic Lolita Fancy Dress, S, Black White Square Collar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0130LAABE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_A1zoyb37GJFRT
Wa is very hard to pull off for beginner Lolita's, but if you like the aesthetic of eastern-inspired coords, I would recommend Qi. It's like wa, but Chinese inspired. In my opinion I feel it looks more refined than wa. Here's a Qi dress I found on Amazon Shui Mo, Qi Lolita Wash Painting Floral 4pcs Dress Set (Large) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010UROGXE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_fnp6wbY569TKZ
They have a good tea-length one for this particular instance, but the 582 is also great for regular Lolita! I've had mine for seven years and it's still damn poofy.
