If you do want to buy the deck, or the Elven Empire commander deck which is also on sale, here are clean links:

The U is actually direct from WotC, it's the first unique letter between blue and black that wasn't taken by another card type (a was reserved for artifacts.)
If you like Nightmare, you could try a mono-black deck. There are lots of black cards which are great in mono-black, like [[Squelching Leeches]], [[Nantuko Shade]], [[Tendrils of Corruption]] and [[Corrupt]].
You could make a black/white deck based on Zombies from Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation. Here's some decklists from old standard, it should be cheaper now since many cards rotated out. https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/how-build/revisiting-zombies-hour-devastation-2017-07-18
60 is the minimum and, competitively, the most optimal because it eliminates dead draws (cards that don't help you).
This does a pretty good job of explaining the general strategy of deck-building.
Try not to have single copies of any cards, the chance of you getting it become very, very slim.
34-36 spells (creatures, sorceries, instants, enchantments, etc), 24-26 lands.
If you absolutely cannot streamline your deck with 3-ofs or 4-ofs, find a win condition, and build your deck around it as best as possible.
They were announced in this article https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/news-editor-odds-ends-2018-04-30
all we know is there will be five, they have one included booster not two, sell $11 instead of $15, and are "friendlier to new players" and "designed to better integrate will welcome decks".
I expect them to be fairly lukewarm but hey, it's only $7 if you strip away the booster pack.
Actual spoilers for cards & mechanics for Core 2019 are a long way off :P
If you have time, it would help a lot if you put it on a website like tappedout.net. I'm actually having trouble remembering a few of these cards, haha!
What's your experience level when it comes to playing tournament magic? Have you attended a bunch of Modern events or FNMs? It kinda looks like you're a bit new to deckbuilding. If you have time, you might want to read some deckbuilding articles such as this one. In general you want to: stick to 60 cards, run lots of 4-ofs, keep a consistent mana base, and really hone your strategy. A basic skeleton for decks I use is 9 sets of 4 with 24 lands. That way you'll more consistently draw your threats/answers. Of course you can (and in many cases should) deviate, but it usually helps me with the initial deck design.
It also looks like you're running an aggro deck, so you might want to cut most of the 4+ mana cards or cards that take a few turns to go active. If all goes according to plan, they should be dead before you can play Mass Calcify. Modern is typically quite quick, so it's even more important to interact quickly. You might want to run some spot removal as well such as [[Fatal Push]] if you have them. Depending on how your token production goes, more board pumps might be useful. Something like [[Zealous Persecution]] or more Intangible Virtue.
If you have questions, I'd be glad to try my best in answering them. I am not sure how much success this deck will have at a pptq (even with my suggestions), but I hope you at least enjoy yourself!
If you're going to play standard then the planeswalker decks are not a good starting off point. They're more geared towards players who are new (which you are) but playing against other planeswalker decks. If you show up with one to FNM you'll not get close to win a match.
A challenger deck is designed for a new player to jump into standard. Some of them, like the red one, can immediately hold their own and most of them can become T2 with minor addons. The deck you bought doesn't share a single card with the "real" UW control decks being played besides the basic lands.
If you want to play this archetype in standard I recommend you buy the Second Sun Control challenger deck and go from there. It's not a huge financial commitment, you'll get a feel for the archetype and how to play standard.
Start by taking out the Kefnet for Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. The mana base only needs 4x Glacial fortress and some numbers of Field of Ruin to be optimal. Cut Renewed Faith for a Negate or Essence Scatter or Forsake the Worldy. If you don't own the latter two they are practically free and might be just that if your LGS has a dump box of cards. You will need to then make more modifications based on how the meta at your store is but at least you can show up and immediately win some games.
I am new to deckbuilding, too, but I'd say you should consider the topic "mana curve". There are a lot of articles about it like this one. Have fun!
the 2017 precons are seen as some of the best precons so far, upgradable, and fun. Could be a good place to start for you.
here's decklists:

see if they look interesting to you.
Ive just got some "Art Focused" apps Ive been working on to a stage that other people might be interested in using them too, especially people into Magic Art (or any art!).
It doesn’t contain any wallpapers itself but you could take a key card from your new brew and if you can find its art, download it onto your phone for your life counter to match your deck.
It’s a free iPhone and Android app and as well as livewallpapers it also supports static wallpapers together with a wallpaper editor and a few other goodies. :)
Anyway please let me know what you think and what features I should add next. :)
Its on the Apple App Store here and the Google Play Store here.
Hope you like it and thanks for reading! :)

From the Comprehensive Rules:
> Effect
> Something that happens in the game as a result of a spell or ability. See rule 609, “Effects.”
.
> 609.1. An effect is something that happens in the game as a result of a spell or ability. When a spell, activated ability, or triggered ability resolves, it may create one or more one-shot or continuous effects. Static abilities may create one or more continuous effects. Text itself is never an effect.
So planeswalker ability isn't technically an effect itself, but whenever you use a planeswalker ability, that instance of it doing something is an effect.
I like what you have done, the mana curve makes sense for the pacing of the format. And the [[Bishop of Rebirth]] will be good at turning the tide in the longer games. The Legion Of Dusk deck from the Explorers of Ixilan boxed game is a similar type of power level and could be good for you to take a look at for ideas. https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/explorers-ixalan
Yeah, you can't have two with the same name. Two legendaries that share a subtype is fine.
From the Comprehensive Rules:
> 205.4d Any permanent with the supertype “legendary” is subject to the state-based action for legendary permanents, also called the “legend rule” (see rule 704.5j).
> 704.5j If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.”
Here is a list of info on modern provided by Wizards themselves, it states all the sets for modern and what is currently banned from play: https://magic.wizards.com/en/game-info/gameplay/formats/modern
The following sites can be used to get a grasp on what the meta is looking like: www.mtgtop8.com www.mtggoldfish.com
Elves are a fairly competitive deck in the format, and discard/attrition decks are now played in more aggressive shells like pyromancer, death's shadow, jund.
I would probably start with building a cheaper tier deck when getting into modern that matches your color preference and has a fair amount of staples. This will allow you to branch off into other decks as you expand your collection or obtain more money to invest in the game. Mono white and Taxes style decks are probably the most cost efficient decks in the format at the moment, however goblins/bomat red/storm/burn etc are all fairly cheap too. Taxes decks have aether vial, usually have staple spot removal [[Path to Exile]] [[Fatal Push]], but also have the capability to branch of into tribal decks because they run [[Aether Vial]].
If you do not feel like hopping straight into competitive play and plan on doing more casual fnm play I would suggest mtggoldfish's lists. They have videos of how they play, detailed upgrade paths, and are tailored to be competitive enough for store play.
Hope this helps
> green spirit deck
Er...can I ask how old these cards are? If it is standard you want to play you need more resent cards that are standard legal. Can check what sets are in (and banned cards) here.
If your a new player looking to start standard, the best thing you can do is pick up one of the new "challenger decks".
They're old news, and were never a big contender.
DOM has some great budget removal options, [[cast down]] and [[seal away]] deal with a lot of things, but otherwise nothing really new for BW vampires and the new hotness is [[history of benalia]] and [[lyra dawnbringer]]
Here are some decks that are actually winning stuff, from the recent PTQ https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/mtgo-standings/standard-ptq-2018-04-29
If you want something that is both easy to build, and performs well very consistently, I suggest [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]].
Make a fuck ton of elf tokens, pump them up with other elves, and in a pinch, you can gain 10 life while also making an opponent lose 10 life. There is a precon with her as the face card and I believe it’s only $30 on Amazon right now.
You may even be able to find it cheaper on TCGPlayer or your local LGS.
You can have up to 4 in your deck of any card, more for basic lands, but since it is legendary only one can be in play at a time. Having 4 would just help you get it more on turn 1.
https://magic.wizards.com/en/content/standard-formats-magic-gathering
Also I meant to mention this before, [[Anointed Procession]] is good for token gen.
Will leave this post up, but for anyone else considering furthering the discussion on proxies here is WOTC's official stance.
https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/proxies-policy-and-communication-2016-01-14
For the people suggesting making color copies of cards that contain copyrighted artwork, I would prefer if we do not have that take place in this sub. Oddly enough I was a managers at Staples while I was still in school, and the copy centers policy was to refuse all copyrighted materials for printing. We never policed the self-copy machines, but I would not suggest taking it up to the counters and asking the employee's of any copy place to do this. You would actually be putting that company in potential legal trouble by allowing them to make copies of works they do not have the image rights to, at least in the States.
Just my 2 cents on this topic.
This is a misleading link to a spammy website with affiliate links to mediocre deals. If anyone really wants that Ikoria commander deck here is the direct link:
https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Gathering-Symbiotic-Commander-Legendary/dp/B0851LGBN8
It’s “on sale” for $38 which isn’t much of a deal. They do have Kaldheim set booster boxes for like $76 which is a pretty good deal—here’s that direct link without the affiliate code:
it just depends on how the cards lay when the binder is closed. I think the issue with felt binders is that the cover is too stiff which can warp how the cards sit when it's set down. This is also why I don't over fill my binders. I don't want the pages to be stressed or pushed up against something.
My favorite was Mead's Pro Platinum zipper binders but they aren't made anymore... Case-it binders are okay but their designs are awkward and I'm not even sure Five Star makes d-ring binders which is essential.
Hmmm... this one might work as well. It looks similar to the platinum pro line. Also, you might even be able to replace the O-Ring part with a D-Ring in a binder you already prefer.
Alright, there has been a ton of helpful information. Thank you guys for your expedient, honest, and cheerful responses! Assuming I got the link to work, here's an incomplete list of what I have, roughly 40% total of my cards. Also, assuming it works, a grateful shout-out to the individual who suggested Google Docs. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwazUM6WKEAnaFhjUG9OcV91aEk/edit?usp=sharing This is my secondary reddit account, and the one that I check less often. I'm also going to be taking awhile redoing my spreadsheet, so don't expect op to deliver in the immediate future. That said, you guys (in the general reddit community, I posted my questions and response verbatim in multiple mtg subreds) get priority over amazon, ebay, and any local store. So final note, I've sleeved most of my rares, a few of my uncommons, and no commons. That's not included in the spreadsheet, but I'll include them in any cards I mail.
Most I found in one place was 30. Was just looking for rats too oddly enough.
https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Gathering-Relentless-Rats-2010/dp/B002NW238K
I would highly recommend the Challenger Decks, they are fairly competitive at a local level and affordable at only $30 each. You can buy this on amazon right now as well that gives you all 4 of them at a discount.
You can also look into the Planeswalker Decks, but they are far weaker, but they offer a less complicated deck for new players, with more straight forward mechanics.
One other option are the battle decks from cardkingdom which I have heard good things about but not actually played with them myself, something to keep in mind though is that they are more crafted to be played against each other.
Hopefully that helps you, good luck on you MTG adventure, Planeswalker!!
Buy bulk on Amazon or Ebay, like this. Star City Games also sells wholesale lots. You won't get anything fantastic but it'll be a start to a collection.
I would highly recommend the spellslinger starter kit for you to get your feet wet learning to play. Don’t shuffle the decks the first time you play. It comes with a set of instructions and the decks come in a certain order. You draw your hands and it walks you through how to play your first few turns with the cards you’d have in your hand. The decks themselves are decent but you are a hands on learner it is absolutely the way to go in terms of learning how to play and getting a feel for the game at first. Attaching a link on amazon for the one I used to learn.

[[Herald's Horn]] is going to be useful here. Maybe replace Amulet of Vigor and replace some tapped lands with Lairs.
Also you need some board sweeper protection, like [[Heroic Intervention]].Play store link: Boost for reddit
Descendants Path I recently added one of these to my Sliver deck. I knew that it would help me get more slivers on the field, but I didn't know just how powerful it was going to be. Mostly because most of the time I put a card down, it was one of my more powerful Slivers.
Magic The Gathering MTG Commander 2017 Deck - Vampiric Bloodlust https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0751VWX2Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Xv-2Ab68Y8EJ2
It looks like prices have gone up a little bit. Here it's listed for $65. When we bought ours back in December, we purchased 3 decks from 2 different sellers on amazon. I think arcane wizardry was just under $30, like $26.99 or something. I think Feline Ferocity and Vampiric Bloodlust were around $32.99 and $38.99 or something like that. It was a great deal for 3 decks that average out to be really good. I play with a slightly modifies Feline Ferocity, and knowing now how strong it is, I would totally be willing to pay $65.
Firstly, Kudos to The_Admaster he's totally correct, they're called Intro Decks, not starter decks. Now, I think it's more a question of what you mean when you say you want to play casually?
Are you just wanting to play with a friend at home? I love duel decks, I actually sort of collect them, and they're a great way to just have fun with a friend and play casual Magic because the decks are designed to play well against each other and have fun & interactive games. However, I like to think of them as more like a board game, they really only work in playing against each other.
If you're looking for casual play at your local game store against different people then going with an Intro Deck might be a better choice. (http://smile.amazon.com/Magic-Gathering-Innistrad-Alternate-Dreadknight/dp/B01DMTQ9YQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1460405118&sr=8-5&keywords=intro+decks+mtg) (For an example, there are a bunch of them to choose from) It's a standard-legal deck so you can take it to your local game store and you can sit down and be ready to play. They're not the most powerful decks out there, but they're fun and you'll be able to at least hang in there, and if you like the deck, you can upgrade them over time.
I'm not sure about red because I don't play it, but the one my brother and I bought was the Duel Deck: Elspeth vs. Kiora. The new intro decks for the Origin series just came out..

Been using Decked Builder for years. I can upload my lists to dropbox, or email them directly to myself for future use. Well worth the money. Also, I run BlueStacks app emulator (Free) on my PC so I can use it on my computer if I dont feel like using my phone.
EDIT: I take it back. They just changed their interface and it's shit now. Very upset about this.
