Paint the base any water color you want, then add a resin based water texture on top. I used Vallejo Still Water. You do have to be careful and add it in layers, as it can run if you try to pour it all at once.
The customeeple stuff is definitely good. Another option I like is just this container of cubes. They're small, fit on most bases with the mini, and you can assign them by colors for just about anything. Just another option to throw out there.
I had a similar idea but with this:

The extra compartments are great for cards, dice, markers, measuring tape etc. Still had to cut some stainless steel sheet metal for the bottom and then magnetized my bases.
I am sorry that one is out of print, it's a great deck. I bought this deck for the Through the Breach RPG that I ran, and the art is amazing for Malifaux IMO: https://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-1025947-Alchemy-Playing-Cards/dp/B009NI8ADY/
This is what I ordered. I already had a drill bit from a power drill set. The handle was just big enough for it.

First, check out this podcast from Third Floor Wars. They do an in-depth breakdown of masters and factions to help "match-make" players with their best fit. The podcast is also available on Spotify. It's long but absolutely worth it!
These are masters I would recommend for a brand new player because they are relatively straight-forward in how they accomplish their goals
I've included a master from each faction. However, regardless of this entirely subjective list:
I strongly recommend you pick a master based on aesthetics first.
Even the most complex master can be learned pretty quickly after you play a few games. Anyway, here are some of the easier ones to learn:
I left out the Explorer's Society because it's two models and both are dual faction.
Choosing the right master for you is really three questions. From most to least important:
Once you answer those three questions you should have a pretty good idea which master to go with first. As a new player my biggest recommendation is to stick with one master/crew until you know them inside and out! It's easy to fall into the trap of chasing the shiny of a new master to try.
Also, if you're still unsure of what to go with first, check out this podcast from Third Floor Wars. They do an in-depth breakdown of masters and factions to help "match-make" players with their best fit. The podcast is also available on Spotify.
It looks like this, I was even worried that it's too bright on the snow.
Here's the paint I used for blood effect.
It's pretty straightforward to use, just apply it with sponge or old brush and it works wonders. :)
Just get a regular 3-ring binder and some of these:

Googling "Tarot card sleeves" found plenty of options, including ultra pro on Amazon: Ultra Pro Tarot Board Game Sleeve - 70mmx120mm (50/pk) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012NBY766/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YgB.Bb61SRJ98
I'm about to try white primer with these on Fallout Wasteland Warfare. I was using a box of P3 paint and a bunch of random Vallejo droppers. Games workshop is pretty expensive vs the competition IMO so I avoid them. I think I only have one pot left at this point. I'm not great at color theory so I usually try to grab sets of paint so that there is a theme that works without any thought.
Another option is Tamiya plastic glue; it's just as good. This is the stuff you're looking for: https://www.amazon.de/Tamiya-Extra-Thin-Plastikkleber-300087038/dp/B000BMYWYC/
It works by melting the plastic that it touches, so the two parts fuse together into a permanent bond. The best way to use it is to put a little bit on one or both of the surfaces you want to combine, wait a few seconds for it to start dissolving the plastic, then press them together.
It is great on translucent models because it dries perfectly clear.
I use something similar to this: https://smile.amazon.com/SE-8721BB-11-Compartment-Plastic-Container/dp/B000RB3XOM/ref=pd_sim_469_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2691J1B61QDV8021790M
That's not exactly the one I have, but it's close enough and will do the job the same way.
Any kind of small tacklebox or toolbox.
I use this.
Looking pretty good for a new painter.
A little constructive criticism: those mold lines are pretty rough. I use this file set
Enjoy! I'd love to see them when you're done.
Also Woodland Scenics makes some learning kits that contain a bunch of samples of materials (intended to learn by), but some of them contain a lifetime supply of stuff given the scale we are working in. So they are worth checking out. I have this one which gave me all my bushes among other things.
