I'll tell you like it is. I watched Michael Moore's movie "Where to invade next", and honestly its stunning. The French the way they feed their children, the Finish the way they dont assign any homework, the many countries that give college as part of the government spending, and the long time off work paid leave for vacations make you wonder. Where did America go wrong. With a lot of our budget spent on military/defense you could argue that they wouldn't have the peace of the world and ability to do those things had the USA not become the world protectors, but are we? When you get the end of the movie all the ideas he was going to invade and steal and bring back to America were some of our own to start with. No Cruel and Unusual Punishment (look at the video's prisons, the dads mentality about his sons murder), Unions and Fair Wages, and then look at our country and our mindset. Look what we've done, check out the income inequality.... yet here we are able to debate with our leaders, living in a free democracy, but we still face all the human things like greed, and every other character defect. Of course you don't want to know the truth because the truth is were getting fucked here in the USA. Our funds are going to the military industrial complex, and its workers, and we're slaving away to barely get buy. While some representatives abuse their power/money/position at our expense. How many bankers went to jail during the last melt-down? When will we get fed up with the status quo and change for the better. Our country needs it. Check the video out its on Amazon Prime "Where to invade next" watch it objectively, research its claims, and come to your own conclusion but please dont take my word for it!
Prepare to celebrate a indictment headline soon, because today was the turning point:
>According to an FBI statement, Flynn communicated with then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak after being asked by a senior Trump transition official to find out how foreign governments stood on a coming UN Security Council resolution about Israel.
https://edition.cnn.com/2017/12/01/politics/michael-flynn-latest/index.html
TRUMP HIMSELF TOLD FLYNN TO CONTACT RUSSIANS!
>"While it is unclear who Flynn himself is prepared to name, Fox News has been told by a former senior intelligence officer with knowledge of Trump transition activities that then-President-Elect Trump directed Flynn during that period to contact the Russians -- while also directing him and his team to contact 12 other countries."
THIS STRAIGHT UP PROVES THAT TRUMP COLLUDED WITH RUSSIA
Edit: I apologize for using Bing video btw. Disappointed in myself as well. Popped up first on a quick search.
This is in stormfront's playbook. Just slip subtle racist shit into otherwise innocuous comments on non-political videos\articles\etc. Most people don't know enough to call them out on it, and when you hear things like "African Americans are 40% of the prison population" without any context as to why that is, it "makes sense" to those who don't know better--after all, these white supremacists are just quoting statistics, right?
Fun fact: inflicting pain/exaggerated punishments creates more personality problems compared to positive reinforcement (Source: Thinking, Fast and Slow). At best the subject learns to dial back the behavior they were getting scolded for, at worst they just do the same thing when their parents aren't around, maybe even worse, because nobody's around to scold them for it and they get to vent it all out.
So his parents probably did a lot of beating/scolding/bad parenting techniques and what we now see is the result. Bullies project n' all that.
That said, I'm pretty sure all parents are susceptible to smacking or overly-harsh parenting methods once in a blue moon, god knows I want to beat the face right off of him, but unfortunately it wouldn't have achieved anything other than temporary catharsis.
There used to be a website, one of the first big ones to go around, called punchrushlimbaugh.com -- we need more of that, plz.
Christ, CIA is dirty. I always thought the talk of CIA trafficking coke was conspiracy stuff. Never pieced it together before. I have some more reading to do. Thanks for posting.
I recommend Wormwood on Netflix for more on CIA's insane approach to drug experiments.
I agree without reservation.
The entire situation is America's tragedy and it is by design.
It is time to take a serious look at why we are here right now.
It is about the vilification and the criminalization of black men in our society in order to keep a segment of our society in slavery.
Criminalization.
It is a slave gathering tool.
13th.
The title of Ava DuVernay's extraordinary and galvanizing documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which reads "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States." The progression from that second qualifying clause to the horrors of mass criminalization and the sprawling American prison industry is laid out by DuVernay with bracing lucidity. With a potent mixture of archival footage and testimony from a dazzling array of activists, politicians, historians, and formerly incarcerated women and men, DuVernay creates a work of grand historical synthesis.
Watch 13th on Netflix to see where this all has led.
Without hating black people this won't work.
The Shy Trump Voter thing is pretty much a myth. Sure, they probably exist, but wouldn't be a meaningful number of poll respondents. People lie to their friends and coworkers about this stuff, but have next to no reason to lie to pollsters. Plus, good pollsters work assumptions like this into their data, the numbers we see aren't raw.
The polls weren't if by as much as people tend to claim. They were generally within or near the margin of error, and the total votes about matched the national average. If anything, some pollsters misunderstood a couple of demographics in a few key states. The only egregious misses were a handful of analysts that gave Hillary 90-99% chance to win. That was dumb. Places like 538 the Upshot had her favored, but not by that kind of margin. And, sometimes the underdog will win. If you have 33% chance to win, then 1 out of 3 times you'll win.
I doubt that pollsters are way off in Alabama either. While smaller elections usually don't have as good of polling, this one has loads of national attention and some good organizations are polling there. So, it's far from a sure thing, but Jones has a great shot in state that should be automatic for Republicans.
Here's an NPR article and a fivethirtyeight article about shy Trump voters and the myth.
Milton Friedman argued that the free market suppresses bigotry (racism, sexism, etc.) because those who practice it omit a section of the market that others don't. He says the market corrects for the tastes of those individuals involved in trade. The preferential businessman “is in effect imposing higher costs on himself than are other individuals who do not have such preferences." (Capitalism and Freedom, 11)
He neglects to mention that the same is true of the businessperson who holds moral qualms or empathy: "the free market will tend to drive him out."
So, I know this guy in real life so I can’t help but share about how awesome he is.
In case anyone is curious, this guy is a pastor who has made it his life’s work to fight racism. He’s a direct descendant of Robert E Lee and he’s been fighting to get rid of confederate monuments for years. He introduced Heather Heyer’s mother at the MTV music awards after Heather’s death in the Charlottesville protests.
He recently wrote a book called A Sin by Any Other Name: Reckoning with Racism and the Heritage of the South (foreword by Bernice King!)
He’s a great guy who has been kicked out of churches, received a multitude of death threats, and generally suffered a lot due to his prominence in the fight against racism. I’ve known him since he was in high school so I just wanted to take any opportunity possible to share more about his story!
The GOP's healthcare proposal was underfunded, and that's dangerous when you're looking at local governments which can simply opt out of paying for their high risk pools. And remember what insurance used to look like, before reform?
But who cares? Certainly not you.
Maybe he accidentally inhaled a stray 5G ray. I bet his next move is to try to get treatment derived from stem cell research.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Sorry about what brmlb said (probably a Trumpster). Not sure why he's being upvoted. He sounds a lot less educated than you. All the books you recommended are awesome and people should read them.
For you- I'd like to recommend Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankel - And Upton Sinclair's - The Jungle.
I hope you continue to be smart and will grow to perhaps work in our justice system one day to make all our lives better.
TO prevent increase in poverty? The slow destruction of the middle class in this economic model is nothing new. It's a proven fact. We see the problem globally. Maybe the "entitlement" plan prevented massive spike in poverty when these middle class were slowly eroding.
I know our society and policy makers love to work in reactive mode after the problem shows in full force rather than proactive mode before the problem starts, but for poverty and healthcare issue, it's much better to err on the side of safety. Real people's lives and health are stake.
Btw, even conservative economists do not argue against some sort of social safety net, because they acknowledge it's beneficial as a whole for the society.
I'm not saying our social safety net system is perfect. We need to improve it, not just gut it ruthlessly. But the problem is there are so much conspiratorial myths with social safety net that we are not having a constructive conversation on how to improve it. We just hear there are "welfare queen," which was a huge exaggeration, and food stamp fraud problems.
For example, look at this easy to understand article on food stamp myth. These myths are very wide spread. Look at what Fox News and Rush Limbaugh say about it. https://lifehacker.com/three-myths-about-snap-and-food-stamps-debunked-1792180200
Btw, if people really want to cut spending, gut defense budget as well. We spend more than the next 7 or 8 biggest countries combined not including other misc. spending like nuke maintenance, war cost, etc. I know defense budget is much smaller than the entitlement plan, but it's absurd when you are trying to cut food stamp, which often directly goes to feeding children as well while increasing defense budget while subsidizing farm subsidy.
https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulatory_capture
Regulatory capture is a form of government failure that occurs when a regulatory agency, created to act in the public interest, instead advances the commercial or political concerns of special interest groups that dominate the industry or sector it is charged with regulating.
All I got from your post was:
I'm in infrastructure. I'm doing well. What are y'all bitching about?
That was supposed to justify tax cuts somehow.
If I can offer a counter argument.

This is the same reason most states require at least some auto insurance.

u/christofchrist, you are the stupidest person Ive encountered all morning on Reddit. Thank you for allowing me to expose your stupidity in living flesh for everyone following.
You have now lost at every fucking argument you launched here: immigration/refugees, shipping containers, whether stupidest is a word and now whether it's in Merriam Webster.
Bye bye, dumbass.
Looks like the original tweet is gone, but here is a link to it in the "TweetArchive" Trello public board I keep on IPOTUS (Illegitimate President of the United States). Every tweet he makes is posted to this board. Not sure if this is still a valuable tool to keep or not?

It's psychological misdirection, simple slight of hand, he's basically playing good cop, bad cop but he's both cops. Come off as a crazy person in public, keep your opponent nervous and on the defensive, then when the meet you in person they are surprised when you come off as the exact opposite, they let their guard down, and then they do what you want. It's part Madman Theory, part Republican Compromise part bad guy wrestler. Many politicians have employed similar tactics over the years, hell the basics are outlined in Sun Tzu's The Art of War.
Now I'm hardly one of those frothing at the mouth Trump supporters, but there are a number of things he says and does that I agree with and I still consider myself "cautiously optimistic" about his Presidency at this juncture. If anyone wishes to have a discussion about this or anything else for that matter I'm all ears. Or eye's I guess, in this case.
Fucking hell, I'm glad to hear someone else say it! I hate how many of my fellow progressives are willing to just write off everyone who voted for trump as simultaneously dumb, ignorant, racist, sexist homophobic, brainwashed, xenophobic AND greedy. By refusing to acknowledge and understand the various realities of the other side they are dooming our side to constant failure. You can't beat your enemy if you don't know your enemy.
Every fucking time I hear someone make some blanket dismisal of everyone who voted for Trump I just want to cram a copy of The Art of War into their face and force them to read it. By refusing to know the enemy you assure that you can't beat the enemy.
Some people are a little turned off by Bill Maher. I'm about as progressive as they come, but he aggravates me a little. That being said I don't disagree with the subject-matter, so here's an alternative source that discusses the same principle:

"Stupidest" is nowhere to be found on that page lol.
>Why Oxford? Here it is in MW "you fucking moron" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stupid
Here is the above comment in case this person deletes it lol.
>So wait- are we talking about the admins anymore or is this about Hillary now?
I literally said it was a quip.
>Which isn't what stickies are for afaik, so that's vote manipulation. Glad we agree.
If it wasn't for upvoting, Spez should have allowed stickies but disabled upvoting on them while they're stickied. That would stop any "manipulation" by all subreddits and allow stickies to serve their intended purpose. Simple fair application of the rules.
You are playing word games. There is no conspiracy with the media, just some loudmouth president who doesn't like the truth so he tries to discredit it. Try utilizing NPR, PBS, VICE, Foreign Affairs and The Economist for obtaining credible news. To imply that somehow CNN budgets for shills to go on reddit is crap. Let us apply Hitchens' Razor here, "An assertion without evidence can be dismissed without evidence." You have no evidence of your claim yet you spout it as fact. You are by definition being ignorant.
Source: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ignorant Edit for typos
No.
>So you're entire argument is based on lying on your taxes.
First, it's your, not you're, fucktard.
I'm saying that exceptions apply to nearly everyone who didn't have healthcare: https://www.healthcare.gov/health-coverage-exemptions/forms-how-to-apply/
I'm also saying that if the exceptions don't apply to you, and you lied, for example, that you were part of a health ministry, there is noone and nothing, not even during an IRS audit, that will verify whether you were actually part of a health ministry, moved, made certain income, etc. There is literally NO enforcement whatsoever of the individual mandate.
Hence, my assertion that anyone who pays a voluntary fine and bitches about it is a bitch.
Please, share a single example of someone being audited and being found out for lying about this exception, and then having to pay the fine. That would be a counterexample that would disprove my assertion that nobody has to pay this fine.
Calling fascist people snowflakes doesn't make any sense; they're vile monsters that need to be called racists.
Also this sub is redundant, head on over to r/Political_Revolution/ .
Edit: A snowflake is a person who thinks they're unique, like a snowflake. TIL in the last 2 months someone has changed the meaning of snowflake on Reddit and Urban Dictionary to mean Nazi, wtf. You got Merriam to write an article about the word's meaning.
Edit2: I see, looks like Trump acted like a snowflake when he said "theatre should always be a “safe space”" back in November.
>And yet the country that perpetrated 9/11 didn't make the list, because money.
That was over 15 years ago. Saudi Arabia doesn't have as many issues with faked documents and terrorism funding that Somalia and Iraq have. We sent thousands of troops there, and we have better intel with them. Because we "figured out what the hell was going on" in Saudi Arabia.
>There is zero indication, whatsoever, of that happening. His own party doesn't even think it's going to happen. He and his supporters like yourself are literally the only ones.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/26/politics/el-chapo-border-wall-trnd/
>Trump had absolutely nothing to do with that. It was a process taking place before he ever took office. It's also temporary. China is in the process of building the world's largest renewable energy grid and plans on replacing coal with solar. Coal use in China has been shrinking drastically ever year. This is a temporary Band-Aid for a dying coal industry, and again, had nothing to do with Trump.
China uses coal to make steel. It's simple science. If they want steel, they need coal. They did something economically bad for them because, I assume, Trump's administration can give a better deal.

>Not according to Trump himself many times, it wasn't.
I cited for you his RNC nominee acceptance speech. Renegotiate NAFTA or he will walk away. Could you cite him saying something different about NAFTA? Just one time is fine with me.
>You really think that one story is the only Trump/Russia connection? The man he made National Security Adviser is a national disgrace now because of his dealing with Russia.
Flynn didn't do anything illegal or even anything against any protocol or any regulation. It just didn't look good. Can you cite any illegal or improper dealing with Russia?

Anyone interested in "why" our history is taught a certain way? Check out Lies My Teacher Told Me. https://www.amazon.com/Lies-My-Teacher-Told-Everything/dp/0743296281 It talks about the Nadir of American race relations, a period after the Civil War until the 1940's or so, maybe until the civil rights movements in the '60's. Where race relations were the worst in our country. Arguably, even worse that prior to emancipation. And we're going in the wrong direction now.
Gotta agree with the guy above. It should be common sense that a yarn mask is not going to do an effective job at stopping small particles. A source should not be needed any more than a source should be needed for a statement the Earth is round or that gravity exists.
I wager the guy asking me for a source suspected I'm one of those "BuT mAsKs DonT sToP vIrUsEs!!" republican assholes, which I'm not. But it's a matter of fact that not all masks can stop viruses as effectively as other masks. Medical staff wear medical grade masks for a reason...
I see people wearing shit like this everywhere I go - trying to turn masks into a god damned fashion accessory. This is basically like wearing a cotton t-shirt in front of your face. If you can see sunlight through it, it isn't doing shit.
I'm hearing people have concerns for their safety about signing this petition. I'm gonna tell you the best ways to protect your information from mass collection. If, for whatever reason, someone wants to investigate you personally, this will maybe only slow them down about 5 minutes. This is to protect you from your information being pulled en masse, which it likely will.
Also, please note this is the bare minimum because I want it to be easy and accessible to everyone. Of you're really paranoid, there is more you can do... but this should be good enough, realistically. It's def better than nothing.
Sign up for a service like Abine Blur or 33Mail. Provide a randomly generated masked email when you sign the petition. Replies will be forwarded ro your real inbox.
Connect to the internet using a reputable paid VPN, like PIA, Proton, Nord, IPVanish, etc. Alternatively, use the free Tor browser.
There you go. As I said, bare minimum. But please heavily consider doing at least both these steps if you're nervous about potential reprocussions of signing.
It will depend on the age group and the publisher. There are Trump biographies for children already released, and they typically continue their previous brand of neutral happy talk. Example: Scholastic's President Donald Trump. It is interesting to be at this point in time where neutrality is so clearly immoral, yet it is the status quo for many things.
At least there is still a radical minority, such as the creators of When a Bully is President.
You insinuated I was lying and that is insulting. I proved proof, and you still call me a liar. Why should I show any respect towards you when you can't even admit that the quote is real.
>This man is touted as being so intelligent that he doesn't need to be briefed, so why would he make so many simple mistakes?
One could only speculate. President Trump listed The Art of War as recommended reading. In that book it mentions that all war is deception. In the Art of the Deal he mentions how to manipulate the press.
I have noticed an interesting phenomenon with President Trump. Whenever he makes a statement, people, without thinking, make counter claims to that statement. If he makes a second statement agreeing with the counter claim, then those same people agree with his original statement.
Here is a relevant example:
In 2015 President Trump mentioned that the GDP can not be lower than 0. The press counted that claim.
Last year President Trump mentioned, in various ways, that the GDP was below 0 or essentially 0. The press is countering this claim but agreeing with President Trumps original statement.
This is a 'Never Right' paradox. Now given that this exists, and if one is observant of its existence, it can be used to get people to agree with you.
The art of the deal has a lot of interesting power plays like this. If you honestly would like to understand our President better, I suggest you read what he has to say before 2012.
You can start with this one. It covers the lies and fabrications leading up to the invasion of Iraq.
No, you got here because you forgot about common-ground. You're also both brainwashed by your media and forgot to be individuals not swayed by the next news cycle. Someone pitted you against each other and you are both too blind with hate to see it. read this book, just read it.
