Can you re-run the command with the -d
option, then open up the file that it creates in the same directory, lighthouse-keeper.log
, paste the contents into this site, click the save icon and then send me the link. No personal information is in the log, it just records extra details about what it's doing.
The command should be:
.\lighthouse-keeper.exe discover -d
> In the Windows "Settings" app, be sure "User Account Control Settings" is set to "Never notify".
It pays to take time and read instructions. My bad......
Any USB 2.0 extender should do you fine — here are some that would probably work great. Anything at least 6”+ in length so you can get them away from each other a little bit.
Usb 3.0 ports emit a 2.4ghz signal from the 3.0 connectors that aren't used if only a 2.0 usb is plugged in. The dongles are really prone to any interference on their channel (2.4ghz). What you’re seeing could actually be from ANY 2.4ghz signal (Bluetooth, network, etc), but since you’re plugged into USB 3.0, it’s a pretty sure bet that’s it.
Sometimes it’s just the USB port itself too (I have some ports on my PC that when my dongles are plugged into them they go in and out of being detected), and sometimes it’s any combination of interference/weird USB ports. Having them in 2.0 extensions is what you want in any case though! There’s a reason vive trackers come with 2.0 extenders for their dongles :)
Ah, bingo. You need to use 3.0 for steamVR dongles. You can get USB 3.0 add in card if you have an extra PCI express slot. if you don't have an extra pci express (at least x1) slot you might be out of luck.
Thanks so much for trying it out! Ah yes, sorry, I left out the pre-requisites that's in the MixedVR documentation because I didn't think people who were knew would try it too. If you just review this, that'll allow you to remove that prompt!
Prerequisites
A PC with Bluetooth built in or a Bluetooth dongle (your Vive dongle will not work)
In the Windows "Settings" app, be sure "User Account Control Settings" is set to "Never notify". If doing so makes you uncomfortable, whitelist just USBDeview.
The lighthouse is likely your biggest culprit. Why not screw it to the wall or ceiling? You can also get a shower caddy pole if you don’t want to hang it.
Not relevant to your hand location issue, however you can mount the base stations to these:

Find other brands, the first link has 3 of them, naturally you only need 2.
I have this one and think I can make it work for the short term until I can find a more proper 3D printed mount.

I hope someone make a remix of the mount of the restriction my be can work something like that https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZPR7WGH/ref=sspa_mw_detail_5?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07ZPR7WGH&pd_rd_w=yCQqo&pf_rd_p=39d73ea5-a947-41dd-a45b-ac9dc52c5d32&pd_rd_wg=D0UP0&pf_rd_r=458JRVX5ZDQMQNK0ZBG5&pd_rd_r=4352bfa1-cad1-4f8e-a99d-76641...
Thank-you. Tundra Labs just shipped my dongles today.
To be clear, I just need a standard Bluetooth dongle, right? My EVGA Z490 FTW MB has very iffy Bluetooth. Something like this is OK?
Oh sorry! Meant to reply with that!

That said, it totally ruins my PC's aesthetic (yeah, yeah... I know ;P ) so I now have a powered USB hub connected to a USB port on the MB and it's still being stable... going to see if it stays that way...
