Yes, seriously. An empty bottle as a decoration is harmless and legal.
A vodka bottle vase could quite plausibly have been:
So, yes, why are 18-, 19-, and 20-year-olds not allowed to have liquor bottles?
You should really buy a dildo so you can practice to fuck yourself before CS3500 fuck you
These things are very case-by-case. The level of punishment really depends on your character, the nature of the offence, any past offences, level of compliance with the university and so on. You're gonna have to do some research on your own to figure out how deep the shit goes in your situation, since we can't know all of the facts and context for your particular case.
Check out the code of conduct right here and you'll find everything outlined there as far as the nuts and bolts of the process.
That being said, IIRC level 2 is at maximum deferred suspension, in the absence of prior violations.
Also, if you have any questions about the OSCCR process, you can always just email/visit OSCCR and ask. It may be hard to believe, but they are quite friendly and helpful, (if you're polite and respectful of them, don't bite the hand, yo) and they know the most about situations like yours.
2018 graduate here. Here's what got me through.
Going more into my own experience: I didn't have a meal plan after freshman year, and I moved off-campus after sophomore year. I only had to take one semester of summer classes, so for my other summers, I convinced my co-op employers to keep me through August (I was on the January-June cycle). I often worked as a TA when I was taking classes, and there was one semester where I did part-time work for a co-op employer.
I think that the viability/payoff of staying at Northeastern really depends on your major. Ideally, your co-op money will help you get through school and the experience/networking will help you quickly get employed after graduating. If the prospects don't look good, then I think it makes more sense to transfer instead of staying and taking on tons of debt.
I'm biochem but I'd assume microbio isn't too different; some companies I got to apply to were:
Here's a complete spreadsheet with pay, job level, etc.
Can't help you with Entrepreneurship since that's not really my field, sorry!
Here's the link to the textbook. It's online and it's free. Take a look and start reading through the first few chapters. Download Dr. Racket and fiddle around in it a little. Do some of the early exercises in the textbook if you like. The first course does not require previous programming experience but these are things you can do to be a little more prepared when you get here.
How the app works: if a student sees an event with leftover food or any large events giving away food to everyone (like those BBQs on Centennial) they take a pic and post the location onto the app's feed. Users of the app then get a push notification.
We’ve saved over 1900 pounds of food so far (we only count leftovers saved not event giveaways obviously).

We've had a lot of support from this subreddit since the beginning, without it, this app would likely not have come to fruition. <3
I would highly recommend using sites like https://www.hackerrank.com. It's a site which gives you different algorithmic problems which you have to write code solutions to. You can use any language and it'll give you a great head start on what you'll be learning in class.
Yup! I've found 2/3 co-ops outside of COOL. I could go into detail here but I wrote a whole blog post on it here: https://medium.com/@maroun/a-guide-to-college-internships-b6d9aa5b3cd7
Here's the tl;dr: 1. Make a list of 10+ companies you're interested in. 2. LinkedIn is your best friend. Add all the connections of people you know. 3. Search for the companies on LinkedIn and people who work there. 4. Try to get a warm intro to someone who works there from someone you know. 5. Include a powerful cover letter alongside, explain what co-op is (most companies love it).
It's a lot more work, but in my experience you can find a lot more interesting opportunities than a lot of the more "boring" job on COOL.
These are 1080p monitor links from amazon (free shipping with student prime):
Tor seems like overkill to me and I don't think it's a good fit if you're trying to get an IP address in a specific region. Doing a quick search, TunnelBear has servers in Japan and they offer a free tier. Take a look at that.
Full petition initiative text here.
edit: The link in the subject works just fine in my browser : but in case of difficulty the direct link to the signature submission form (the neu.edu page is just a redirect) is here!
yeah dude, you're still ahead of the game, don't sweat it. Also, protip: when you get to physics here are your answers for the homeworks. which suck.
ARTG 2260 is meant to teach art and design students who have zero coding experience so you'll be in good company. It can be overwhelming at times when you're starting out but there are a ton of online resources you can access to help you if you get stuck. I took the class last year online and it's mostly just a series of projects where you need to demonstrate basic proficiency in coding concepts, they don't have to be flashy. I'm ultimately really glad I took the course because it gave me a good baseline in programming and it made learning stuff like HTML/CSS and game design much easier. If you have any other questions or need help at any point next semester lmk, I'm happy to help :)
You have to submit your team to RSA (details should be posted soon), then there will be a qualifying test on October 24th. The top 50 teams based on accuracy and speed are accepted into the hunt.
Follow the RSA Facebook page for more info.
are you already at northeastern, or did you just get accepted and start in the fall of something?
e: found the other post, so you have started.
http://issuu.com/northeasternuniversity/docs/2011_2012_undergrad_student_handbook_final/15?mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flight%2Flayout.xml&showFlipBtn=true not positive that link will work but it's the drug policy section of the student handbook. sounds like the minimum sanction for drug violations is deferred suspension, a fine, and attendance at a drug program but I can't tell if that's on campus stuff or not. one of the pages says that for off campus incidents, NU can punish you if it thinks whatever happened is "destructive, abusive, or detrimental to the university's interests" which is kind of vague. deferred suspension doesn't sound all that horrible, it doesn't specifically say they take your scholarship away, you just can't participate in stuff. and it also sounds like osccr doesn't hear 1st violations of the drug policy.
also you might want to join http://www.northeastern.edu/ssdp/ or at least contact them for advice, I bet they'd for sure know what northeastern might do to you.

Hello!
ResNet does not have any extra Ethernet cables left, but they are pretty cheep on Amazon. An example of one is here:
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-350MHz-Ethernet-Copper-Network/dp/B001TMYWEI/
We recommend getting a Cat5e or Cat6 25ft Ethernet cable so you can take full advantage of the speeds and reach the port from anywhere in your room.

GlobalProtect VPN does not mask your IP address. It does route your request through their DNS servers.
I highly recommend spending some money for an actual VPN service. The following VPNs: Proxy.sh, Nordvpn, and Private Internet Access will work for MOST STUDENT's VPN needs.
I had this one in WV and it was fine
Ig it depends on what kind of pull up bar you want, if you want one of those that go on the door frame (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/ProSource-Multi-Grip-Chin-Up-Pull-Up-Black/dp/B01H7OW5KY/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1K8L0OI9NGITA&dchild=1&keywords=door+frame+pull-up+bar&qid=1597268900&sprefix=door+frame%2Caps%2C210&sr=8-6)
then you'd probably need to keep the door open whenever you use it, which is really just your call (which is not a big deal if your in apartment style, bigger deal if your only doors open to a shared bathroom and the hallway).
(I have FoxyProxy set to forward pretty much everything but that auth link over the SSH tunnel.)
Do you have Introduction to Algorithms by CLRS? If not, you can rent it from Snell or get its online copy. It's one of the best books for studying algorithms from. Additionally, you can check out HackeRank/LeetCode and practice easy problems from them. What I found most helpful during my prep - code up the problem! Whether it's something simple like DFS/BFS or a DP problem, coding gave me a lot of clarity and helped me understand understand Algorithms better! Tons of YouTube videos are out there explaining simple problems/concepts and there are visualizations as well (i.e. enter your own set of numbers and see merge sort in action sort of thing) which will help you grasp the concept better. Good luck!
My friend used a Wine Rack to bring alcohol in to Spring Fest a few years ago. She only got caught because she was sharing with everyone, but it worked for most of the night!
They're literally cheaper on Amazon brand new and come with the full warranty period...
the app coopd has a few posts about international co-ops. i encourage to take a look and reach out to those ppl.
I have a lot of trouble with noise keeping me awake, and I've found that silicone discs (like these) are way better than the foam ones, fwiw
Sorry about your situation, it sounds really tough - hope this weeks passes quickly for you
I have a very similar version to this one (Dell Inspiron 7501). I really like it!! It runs super well and its not heavy at all. I ordered it not knowing it was touch screen which is a pretty cool addition. Keep in mind I'm only a first year so I've only had to download a couple of the necessary programs so far, and I only got it over the summer so I haven't had it too long either. But it runs really well! Highly recommend if you dont want to spend any more than $1k lol
What is your overall satisfaction with the program?/ What do you wish was different about it? The drop-out rate is pretty high. I left ALIGN last semester. So:
1) The cost per class is higher than undergraduate classes but NEU best professors does not teach to grad students.
2) There is clearly not enough TA for introduction classes. You will probably have 1 TA for 40 students with office hours super crowded.
3) This is a 100% cash cow for the school, believe me. They do not care about the quality of the program, they are changing the structure of the program every semester and in the same time, doubling the size of the program. Source: https://www.slideshare.net/seattleinteractive/solving-the-tech-pipeline-problem-seattle-interactive-conference-2018?fbclid=IwAR1JFsEMyA4nApiC4wMQUjIaVRUdP9nBTqm5RXLmOdOScNxiu7H7izs6KKU
4) I would say that 80% of the people who are managing that program does not know anything about computer science. They are marketing people

Have you had difficulty/success finding employment afterwards? Most of the people I know seems to struggle to find co-ops. You have to know that a lot of co-ops are only available for undergraduates students. Also, few years ago, some companies complained about the quality of the CCIS graduate students at Northeastern so you GPA need to be greater than 3.2/4.0 to just use the career page of Northeastern. You have to know that Northeastern is always promoting diversity in tech but 95% of the grad students in the CCIS department are either Indians or Chinese.
Also, there is partnerships with companies but you either have to be a woman or a minority. Someone who is working at Northeastern told me that this program was made for woman or a minorities.
Mathematical Thinking is a cool class. I wouldn't have picked it on my own as I tend to despise math, but I had to take it for the nursing program. It's not difficult. I highly recommend trying to take it with Marco Rainho. He's a really solid guy and a good teacher. It's logic, probability, permutations, stuff like that. Nothing complicated.

Here's a direct link to one of the download pages.
For future reference in case you use the site again, all you do is click on any of the mirrors for downloading (mirrors are essentially the same exact files hosted through different sites in case one site goes down or you prefer one for having a faster download or whatever--it honestly doesn't really matter which you use) and they'll then link you to a page with an overview of the file. That overview will contain a download link somewhere; it will be in a different position and format depending on the mirror you used, but it's pretty easy to find and it's not hidden or anything. You can click that link and it'll take you to one of the pages like the one I linked to.
Some mirrors will have an option for either a direct download or a torrent. I would recommend the direct download seeing as a torrent requires a program to be installed and I'm not sure whether you'll be able to get any advantage out of the torrent.
Damn I had no idea these existed. Do they make your clothes all linty? Are you supposed to put them in the wash machine & the dryer?
Is this the right thing?

Respectfully, we all have privilege to some extent and not being aware of it creates division. As we all know, the US was built on the backs of slaves. Unfortunately, the remnants of that history can still be seen within institutions today. All too often, members of the most privileged group in the US (white ppl), act like racism doesn't exist just because they are physically unable to see it. The "I'm not racist, I don't need training" argument doesn't really hold up when you realize that there is a plethora of information out there that you don't even know exists.
White Fragility - Robin Diangelo
Also before someone comments it, white people in the US have the most privilege but each individual also has their own amount of privilege. I had a (white) roommate who said "I'm not privileged, my grandparents came from [x really shitty poverty situation]". He also didn't know what redlining is.
Why not? It’s pretty small and easy to clean. There are also alternatives like “air fryer”, “Toaster Ovens”, and portable “electric stoves” like this: IMUSA USA GAU-80305 Electric Single Burner 1100-Watts, Black
It looks like this

Basically any multicooker or pressure cooker. You just throw raw ingredients in it and after a while it gives you cooked food. A lot like a rice cooker
I actually didn't get a discount. The book was Advanced Calculus of Several Variables which is $20 regularly (the other book was Calculus on Manifolds which is significantly more expensive at $60, despite being much smaller).
Of course, I'm sure you could find a pdf of either book on the internet if you looked hard enough, and the library might have a copy or two.
I'd also recommend quick release skewers that use an allen wrench instead of a lever. The saying is that you just need to make your bike less attractive to thieves than the one next to it, so if it requires a tool to remove the wheels it thieves will likely go to the next one with a lever

try LightsailVPN . it's free and easy to use.
In the meantime, get a sleep mask (or just tie a dark longsleeve tshirt around your head) & ear plugs. You'll still be able to hear your alarm. Good luck.
Hey everyone! We actually have a mobile ordering app called Boost that will allow you to skip the line by pre-ordering your food and picking it up right at the counter. The app is available in the App Store and Google Play and accepts credit card as well as Husky/Dining Dollars.
+1 on portable AC they are reasonably priced like this one
I have one (not the one I linked) and you put water into a tank and also soak this spongy thing in cold water. Or you can freeze that part. And the air passes through the cold water and it gets decently cold. Doesn't cover a huge radius though but is fine in a dorm imo
Xfinity is probably going to be your only internet provider. You can rent a modem/router from them for $5-$10 a month or buy your own.
Modem only: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XH46MWW/
Modem + router: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H42QXF1/
You can have them come and set it up, or do it yourself. They give you a video to help set up. Pretty easy.
Oh boy, here we go with hardware critiques. Well, I actually use the usb-c input to connect my Mac when I’m not gaming so it also serves a productivity function. Honestly, I only kept it because of that one port and it wasn’t insanely expensive (also got it on sale). If I do decide to make the switch to a monitor with a faster/higher refresh rate, I’d need one that has built-in speakers and is 27-32” as those are big deal breakers for me
Update: What are your thoughts on this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N6ZBCVY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1ZC0DbPKYMSZP
The beds have little shelves that you can attach to the head (or you can request one from facilities if you don't have one.)
Or you can install a window fan, or I personally just had one of these that I put against the window.
All online Nintendo games for Wii U and the Switch do not work on NURes-device due to the way the firewall is configured. They should work over Ethernet; I can confirm that the Wii U works over Ethernet, it should be the same on the Switch, but no guarantees.
You'll just need an adapter like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Internet-Officially-Licensed-wii-u/dp/B01N6S068R
