Just in case anyone was interested, there's a deal on a 2TB Micron SSD for ~$250: https://slickdeals.net/f/11739647-2tb-micron-1100-2-5-sata-iii-solid-state-drive-for-252
I’ve been using this and was very happy with it. Gives it just the right amount of tilt and takes up very little space when not in use.

You may not even need to go with something as expensive as the NI keyboards. I also have an M-Audio 61-key MIDI keyboard, that is just a basic MIDI keyboard with nothing special about it. I just plug it in via USB, choose a piano sound I like in my DAW, and play it. And it's less than $200: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DDN4PYD
The NI keyboards are designed to be deeply integrated with the whole NI Komplete ecosystem, and to control much of it from the extra buttons and screens on the keyboard itself. This makes the keyboard very large (especially deep), and take up a lot of desk space.
That's why I also have the M-Audio keyboard... it isn't much deeper than a regular computer (typing) keyboard, but has full-sized weighted keys for a 'real piano' kind of feel. It ain't fancy, but it works great.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am considering the M32 as well. My main keyboard is a Korg Krome 61 keys. I have had it since 2014. I am a pianist by nature and have a Steinway upright in our house since 2000. I started getting into music production and DAWs in 2014. I also bought an Alesis 32 key q-mini 6 months ago for traveling. It’s totally bare bones and fits in my computer laptop bag. It was only $49 and now on sale for $39 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Alesis-Qmini-Controller-Sensitive-Production/dp/B08SCMXLCW/ref=asc_df_B08SCMXLCW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475740658951&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14910346543702282050&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvq...
I took it on a trip where I was away for 2 weeks. I use Logic Pro X as my DAW and already have NI v14. I am interested in the M32 for controlling Logic from the keyboard and also having 32 keys. It will be wider than my alesis q mini but that will be ok.
Don't know how much of a difference it makes to go through a USB hub but I got this one.
Haha awesome. I would honestly be interested in playing around but didn't really know if the extra read times would be noticed in case of a bottleneck. There are some Thunderbolt 4 enclosures like this one seems to work well with an M1.

is the usb hub powered or does it just run off the usb cable from the comp?

if it is not powered, you want a powered usb hub since everything has crazy numbers of LEDs.

I use this with my M1 Macbook Pro
I'm about to go to sleep but curious as I could do with the same. I've got a maschine studio and I'm not getting out of bed to measure it but reckon it's more than 35cm across do may fit on this: Keyboard Stand 2 Tier X-Frame Height Adjustable Double Braced https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09DGM87BG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_58PB8TZYH79241R338HK
I've used isopropyl to spot clean mine a few times but I wouldn't use that consistently as it would probably be detrimental to the finish after some time. I especially wouldn't mess with any solution around the screens.
I'm not sure there is a fantastic way to clean it aside from a very lightly dampened paper towel or microfiber cloth (water). I got pretty sick of dusting the thing off every few weeks, so I bought this and it's a perfect fit. The cloth ones are cool but they let dust through after time - this won't. It's relatively affordable to have some piece of mind about your nice new keyboard and it also fits great.
As I'm also a guitar player this kit has been invaluable to me in maintaining my instruments, but it's also very useful for cleaning and dusting off the KK keyboard. Worth looking into. Enjoy!
Yes! I got these Velcro strips from Amazon and put 2 pieces on each side so that it sit straight
They’re super sticky which is good but it’s a little hard to peel off the plastic, otherwise it works perfectly and is sturdy as well, I never worry about it wiggling or falling off. Now with the vivo rails I used, it’s a bit hard to explain but if I set it all the way in on the rails I can’t see the screens or reach the soft buttons. So I positioned the s49 where it’s sticking out a few inches so that when it’s pulled out I can see the screens and top soft buttons.
I’m in the same boat, I had a computer keyboard tray from Vivo it’s removable which I wanted so I’m not drilling any holes, I unscrewed the actual tray so I have just the rails and then put Velcro on the underside of the s49 and the rails fit pretty well. You’d just have to set it up on your desk before putting the Velcro so it’s just a matter of putting on the Velcro and sliding it on the rails
Here’s the rails without the tray

I had a similar problem: https://old.reddit.com/r/NativeInstruments/comments/rjf0is/which_file_makes_komplete_kontrol_show_up_in_my/
If you click on Komplete Kontrol in Native Access you can see where it's installed. Or download this program: https://www.voidtools.com/
And search for 'komplete kontrol .dll' for instance. Mine is about 59 MB, that seems to be the correct file.
I use visual ping (https://visualping.io/). Set it up on the NI product pages of the things you want to buy. When the price changes, visual ping will email you.
Also you might want to check out r/audioproductiondeals. You can look back through the posts to determine when things might go on sale.
Good luck!
You may need something like Soundflower or Loopback to route the DAW audio to virtual audio devices. You should then be able to choose channels from those as audio inputs to Maschine.
(I haven't tried this myself)
Same!
Reason (https://www.propellerheads.com/en/reason) already made huge step outside their concept of stability, easy to use ecosystem and they where forced to add VST support + Audio recording over the years.
That indeed made software more complicated but their implementation of these functions was flawless.
As for NI - well this will be huge overhaul of the engine and it will add allot complexity to the UI.
Both Reason and Maschine suppose to be simple and quick way of laying down an ideas... i am afraid that additional functionality might hinder those basic design principles.
*less tools you have at your disposal - more likely that you will actually record something (instead playing with buttons and knobs all day;))
I got this for my Alesis Q49, and works fine when I upgraded to the KK A49, good price and solid action
I picked up this one on a whim at my local Guitar Center, and I kind of regret it. The X structure makes it uncomfortable for my legs and it's a bit too deep so the keyboard doesn't sit exactly right.
I'll probably upgrade to something like this eventually, the Z structure looks a bit more comfortable.
I do have an audio interface actually (TASCAM US122 MKII) that I've used with the Kontakt player, which seems to work pretty well.
I assume it'd work with Komplete too?
I have a gator bag with the clear hardshell. I travel mon-fri and it's held up pretty well.
