I don't discount that views are motivated by your pocketbook, as Michael's may be since he has oil money funding, but you must also consider that the people who are sourced in your article have a monetary incentive that relies on the catastrophic Climate Change hypothesis being correct. How many people would stand to lose their careers if it were proven false? I know several personally from my professional life!
