It is currently summer. February and March are the peak months for rain so you won't see crowds. Visibility is actually OK since rain tends to keep the fog away. Just gloomy.

Definitely not true about over the counter medicine. I regularly buy ibuprofen in Lima and it is s/20 for 12 pills (blister), 400mg. At Walmart you can get 500 pills (200mg) which is equivalent to 250 of the ones in Lima for $7.98. map cafe in the Museo de Arte Precolombino is spectacular but on the expensive side (expect US prices for fine dining). Pacha Papa on plaza San Blas is great for excellent peruvian food. Would also recommend Chicha de Gaston for great peruvian by peru's most famous culinary team. on the way back through Lima, stop by by Chez Wong for the amazing ceviche and food (call at least a couple weeks ahead for reservations, lunch only) also, Paddy's irish pub off the plaza de armas (in cusco) for great pub food and beers. can get crowded/rowdy but lots of fun.

Te diré lo que paso...
1. Con la reforma agraria se dieron las tierras a los campesinos que si bien conocían cómo trabajar la tierra, no conocían como administrarlas. Como resultado, la producción agrícola disminuyó.
2. Hubo un aumento de la pobreza (más de lo que ya estaba). Por esta razón, aumentó la inmigración de el campo a la ciudad. A partir de esto, surgieron lo que comúnmente se le conoce como "Los conos".
3. No solo los campesinos, sino también pobadores, que en regiones lejos de Lima y que dependían tanto de la agricultura, sintieron aún más la pobreza y el abandono estatal.
4. Sendero Luminoso llegó y les ofreció una solución (conflicto armado). Como resultado muchos pobladores, incluyendo campesinos, se unieron a Sendero.

En cuanto a la popularidad de Vizcarra, creo que se debe más a la impopularidad del Congreso anterior, por la mucha ("presunta") corrupción en la gran mayoría de partidos, y por entorpecer las investigaciones que se hacían contra ellos. También ayuda la total transparencia que están teniendo en las medidas y métricas por el tema del COVID-19 (a comparación de Colombia, Chile u otros, tenemos data que ellos no dan como número de testeados overtime y por qué método, cantidad de hospitalizados y en cuidados intensivos, etc.).

It looks like you can pay with a Visa through that site. Otherwise I'd just email all the trekking companies and see if they can help you out somehow. If you book a Machu Picchu guided tour with them they'll probably grab you a ticket to Huayna Picchu.

We missed Huayna Picchu because we didn't buy the tickets ahead of time and we tried to pay the lady at the gate but she wouldn't let us through. Most people who went up there say it wasn't worth it though, if that makes you feel any better. I still wish I did it though.

At the Pisac market, there is an alley at the opposite end (from the tourist office). You can get a fresh juice made there. Also, walk down a little further and you will discover a shop with magical items on your left. Do not miss this little shop - amazing.

Be sure to go up to Sasyhuman (sp) while in Cuzco. Eat a meal at 'Greens' restaurant. And if you have time visit the Central Market where the locals shop. Bargain hard, but be fair - they will let you know when you've hit their best price...

If you need to watch some peruvian tv (?), you can use a VPN service to connect to a peruvian server (ExpressVPN has a Peru option). Once connected, you can watch from the peruvian TV stations websites/apps as if you were connecting from Peru.

Hey, if you've got the skill, maybe construction would be great!! I think I'll make an updated suggestion... and that is to not go where you think they're lacking numbers; rather, go where you're skills contribute the best.

And to you're second point - yes, you're definitely on point which is great. You're being very cognizant and thoughtful of the population you're trying to serve. The idea you're bringing up has been a common complaint in development work for years now. Don't know if you ascribe to a particular faith, but When Helping Hurts by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert is a wonderful book that would address many of your concerns. It is written from a Christian perspective so bear that in mind if that does not interest you. There are so many other great resources though that are secular that point to the same ideas. There are ways to make a short-term mission valuable/helpful, and maintain the dignity of everyone involved! I can dig around for them when I'm at home if you'd like?
