Has anyone tried to find the painting described by Alex in this episode? We know it's by Ilya Repin, Strand said that. So, I was like, nice, I know that artist, and I looked through his artworks that I could find online, but he seems to have painted only this one work on the theme of hunting
For some reason though I don't think it's the painting Alex was describing but I could be wrong ... I mean I kinda see it.. but it doesn't look particularly violent to me...
Probably don't even have to go that far. She could just be calling him via a secure protocol, something peer-to-peer like Tox and they could be simplifying it for the listener by saying "Skype" since that's sort of the generic brand everybody knows. Kinda like "Kleenix" instead of "facial tissue". As an audio producer, Nic would easily have the software to loop back (physically or digitally) the output into his recording software, making a secure, no-metadata call record.
yeah, for anyone doubting this, here's a link to the ashley park biography which explicitly states that terry is a member: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/ashley-park-mn0000936306/biography
i always thought it sounded like him so i'm happy to have that assumption validated.
Welcome to the sub!
For TBTP specifically, there are a few ways to help fund them located on this page: http://theblacktapespodcast.com/support/ Of particular note, you can donate directly and it sounds like you'll get the same benefits as you would have for funding the Kickstarter.
I know Tanis has a Patreon page as well.
As /u/Jammintk said, we don't have any specifics on the TBTP schedule, but many of us are just enjoying Tanis for now. I'm personally hoping that they'll switch off between seasons so that season 1 of Tanis will flow right up into season 2 of TBTP, but this is all speculation.
Roadside Picnic by Boris & Arkady Strugatsky. It was the inspiration behind Andrei Tarkovsky's movie Stalker, which feels even more like Tanis than the book does.
In Australia it is available on Binge according to JustWatch (great site, I use it for Canada and just changed it to AU to check. Lets you know where anything (if it is available) can be watched and on which service.
Currently reading The Hike by Drew Magary.
Guy on a business trip falls into a dark Alice in Wonderland / in the woods / can't leave this designated trail called The Path & followed by a group of killers called the Dogfaces. A very TANIS-ey vibe as well.

There is actually an official app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theblacktapespodcast.android.blacktapes
I haven't used it yet, so I'm not sure what's causing /u/mGlottalstop's issue though.
