If you are serious about this - http://www.supermemo.eu/polski_bez_problemu - the series is really good. Also, Duolingo is opening the Polish course soonish, although their courses are only good as a refresher.
Someone on /r/translator had similar problem with plural in polish translation, but with word "1 space" / "2 spaces": http://www.reddit.com/r/translator/comments/31vad1/looking_for_translators_for_mobile_application/cq6cwk6
As /u/lmrk wrote, You can use "Ilość wybranych utworów:" ("The number of selected songs:") to avoid additional calculation. Or You can accept the challenge and code the algorithm for plural rules :)

It's so in-depth and explains many complex aspects of Polish really well. I'm using it right now for the exact same thing you are, actually. I love it. I've used a lot of language apps, but this one is just the absolute best- definitely beats Duolingo and Memrise. It has reviews, different "game" styles, and the best part is it has specific grammar quiz options (pronouns, prepositions, etc)
I don't have anyone in my life I can really gush about it to lol so here I am.

Since google started blocking websites what it dislike without second browser you won't find many things.
For a beginner, I would recommend doing somewhere between two and six lessons (or review sessions) every day. Finishing the entire tree should teach you about 2000 Polish words and all the basic grammatical structures. Learn the Polish Alphabet. Apart from the standard Latin letters you already know. The Polish language has nine distinct characters that denote its specific sounds.
That's most likely a misspelling during the translation. Wasilewski is way too common of a surname to determine any heraldry, it's been there at least since 1700's.
In elder polish dialects it was "Wasil", which in fact comes from name "Bazyli " and that's an abberation of greek "Basileus", which means 'king'. ;D
Etymology is kinda a hobby of mine.
In my honest opinion you've been looking in wrong places - since that's a mistranslation then i'd start with either emigration papers... or military records:

Mainly Draft registration cards from WW II (1940-1944). Or perhaps even WW I.
have u tried like preply tho? just checked and theres prices from natives at even 3-6 pound an hour. U can get like 70% off the first trial lesson with this referral link: https://preply.com/en/?pref=Mzc1ODQ3Mw==
And i think u can refund it if you dont like the lesson too. It's way cheaper if ur thinking of finding a new tutor. And you can just keep making different preply accounts if u wanna trial different tutors at 70% off.
I've had luck with Clozemaster.com when learning German. They have a Fluency Fast Track which teaches you words in order of difficulty, but they also have sections for 100 most common, 500 most common, etc.
They also have a blog which has some tips for learning Polish: https://www.clozemaster.com/blog/topics/language-learning/learn-polish/
not exactly a reference book, but this article by a fellow redditor sums up the prepositions/cases with a nice table in the end
https://www.clozemaster.com/blog/polish-prepositions/
as for which preposition goes with which particular verb, i usually use dictionaries for that, they mostly have this info, at least in the examples part
I ended up buying the Polski, Krok Po Kroku: Level A1: Coursebook, along with the workbook, and a separatebook that is specifically about grammar; These all arrive at the weekend so I’ll tell you if I recommend them or not :) I also found a website called PolishPod101 which I’m using that has a free trial
Cześć Korben76. Dziękuję bardoz za twój fidbak ^^. Masz absolutnie rację, że strona ma ten mankament wolnego ładowania się. Powinienem to ulepszyć w najbliższych tygodniach. Aktualnie pracuję głównie nad aplikacją na Android'a https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ga1.inwords Ta powinna już działać znacznie szybciej. Czy masz Androida? Oprócz wolnego ładowania się, chciałbyś bym dodał coś jeszcze, aby ułatwić czytanie polskich tekstów?
Hello alocxacoc! Thank you, and I am sorry the google sign-in is not yet developed on the website :(. I am the only developer and I have it on my list. If by any chance you get an Android device you will be able to use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ga1.inwords Please, give me some time, google sign-in will eventually appear on the website!
To get started at learning some of the basic Polish words and phrases from scratch, you could try introductory flashcard apps like the Beginner Polish app and the StartFromZero_Polish app
