Blame is a great episode, especially when they revisited the topic last summer and talked about free will (which is the link provided above, not the original Blame episode).
Planet Money also did a good podcast on bail reform and algorithms to predict recidivism: https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2017/07/12/536905881/episode-783-new-jersey-bails-out
Just listened to it and it kinda has me freaking out a bit. I'm already well versed in spam email and have 2 factor authentication for nearly everything but not really any external back up system. I searched for posts in the past month with the word "cryptowall" (which is how I found this post) and there was a bunch of stories from work and personal computers. I gleaned that ad block is a necessity due to shitty flash ads even on legit sites that could infect your computer. I still gotta research more into it but as of September 2015 cryptowall 3.0 is still wreaking havoc on people's computers. Scary stuff Just found some recent info from bleeping computer website from Sept 14th "At this time there is no fix tool and Decryption of any CryptoWall Files...is impossible since there is no way to retrieve the private key that can be used to decrypt your files without paying the ransom. The only other alternative is to save your data as is and wait for possible updates...meaning, what seems like an impossibility at the moment (decryption of your data) there is always hope someday there may be a breakthrough or possible solution so save the encrypted data and wait until that time."
that's awesome. if you're willing to throw them up on a google drive and share it I'd appreciate it a ton.
also, I mentioned it in a comment above, but the best way I've found for listening to downloaded podcasts is this audiobook app. each episode is just seen as a chapter of a book so it will save your progress when you stop on the middle of an episode and archive what you've already listened to.
shoot ok that's not what I expected that feature to be.
my backup plan was to use this which I've used before for podcasts. as long as they're numbered (I hope?) you can listen through them properly and it saves your progress if you stop mid episode.
Stede Bonnet's was probably the most epic mid-life crisis in human history. The man tossed a stable, prosperous, and safe life on a whim to become a pirate. His misadventures are recounted in The Republic of Pirates
If anyone is interested in a free option, I have been using Podcast Republic for a couple of years now and would highly recommend it. Here is the G Play link.
