Hey man.. I moved to the bay about a year ago from out East. Got a few things you should should check out..

/r/trees movies: www.treesmovienight.com
And if you're into video games/meeting people/exploring the area check out a game called Ingress. It's basically PVP meets geocaching. I've met a lot of really cool people through this including one of the admins of the sf reddit groups. (If you do join, go enlightened :) )
Lastly, what kind of shows?
The Canterbury Tales are a bit to slog through. I had a lot more fun with Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Tolkien's translation is very good), if you have an interest in medieval literature - I am also very fond The Letters of Abelard and Heloise (romance with a twist).
I think goodreads has more listing for local book clubs and I think I have seen some for romance and other more modern genres.
SanJose/SouthBay has a pretty active (and friendly) Redditors group. They gather almost everyday of the week. More info here
Welcome, and have a nice stay.
Hi potential new friend! We have two really active reddit meetup groups here in the bay area! Check out the south bay specific reddit meetup group here!
We are really friendly and I for one will buy you a drink if you come to Homestead Cocktail Lounge in Santa Clara any Thursday between 9 pm and 11 pm! Just ask for the tall red headed girl named Katherine and everyone will know who you're talking about!
EDIT: Fixed hyperlink.
Boy do I know these feels. Sorry that it's hard lately, take care of yourself. Have you ever tried meditation? It seems like you're really In The Middle of a lot of these shitty thoughts / criticisms of yourself, and meditation might help you step back a bit from them and look at them more objectively (as well as just help you feel better). If you're not sure where to start, check out the Headspace app (https://www.headspace.com), it's helped me a lot.
For anyone interested, you could also use flashcard apps like the Topik Locker app to learn or practice on your some of the common Korean words and phrases at your own pace and convenience.
Just to share, for anyone interested, you could try flashcard apps like the Beginner Korean app and the Topik Locker app to help learn or practice your Korean vocabulary at your own pace and convenience.
