I’ve asked my dermatologist about this.
I finish washing my face and don’t entirely dry with a towel. I let my face be damp but not dripping, and then put moisturizer on.
I use Hada Labo plumping gel moisturizer. It is sd safe and I am so glad I found it recommended by another guy with sebderm.
https://www.amazon.com/Hada-Labo-Tokyo-Plumping-Cream/dp/B00I4BUBN8
After moisturizer, let it be for a minute. Then put the hydrocortisone (or other steroid.) My dr said it’s ok to just put it on top of the moisturizer and mix it.
(Try to use the steroid for only one week and then take a break. You can also backpedal slowly. So after a flare up do 2x a day for a few days, then once a day, then every other day. I think this makes it easier for your skin to adjust. My dr said I have to do one week on, one week off. Don’t use it every single day or there can be bad consequences)
I even use moisturizer, then hydrocortisone, then ketoconazole which is antifungal. You can wait 3 min in between each so it absorbs better.
I’ve had this for two years on my face, around my mouth, nose, laugh lines, and chin.
Any questions? Just ask. Hope you feel better.
Happy Cappy I’ve had some luck with this! Definitely gentler than everything else that I’ve used and decent price.

DermaHarmony SebDerm cream has all but resolved my fairly bad SD around my nose. For the price it is worth a shot. I started on their zinc face soap, but that gets painful if it gets into your eyes. So I tried their cream on a whim and have been using it successfully for about two months now.
The best one I've found is the ACV bar from Wildlands. All natural, vegan product that soothes the scalp. It took me about two weeks to adjust to the shampoo, but my itchies are gone and my hair looks great too. I just love it. I get it on Amazon here. Good luck!
Its a good shampoo for dandruff, dead-skin, dermatitis and itchiness. My hair used to itch like hell all day and whenever i grabbed my hair even the slightest, it used to fall off . When i started using this shampoo everywhere other day, the itchiness went away and the biotin tablets helped my hair regrow healthy https://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Therapeutic-Anti-Dandruff-Long-Lasting-Seborrheic/dp/B0009KN8UA
Sounds very similar to my situation. The only thing that's helped me is the ACV shampoo bar from Wildland Botanicals. It's on Amazon.
There are a few good ones, but the one I'd recommend is the ACV shampoo bar from Wildland Botanicals. It's not a liquid shampoo so there are zero preservatives in it to irritate your scalp. In addition to apple cider vinegar it's got Neem Oil, which really, really helps. Bonus points for good lather and good volume. You can get it on Amazon. Good luck!
MCT oil made from C8 and C10 (capric and caprilyc acid) doesn't feed the yeast because it's too small for the little buggers to digest. Coconut oil, as well as bad MCT oil with Lauric acid (C12), feeds the little bastards. If the MCT doesn't have Lauric acid (C12), then you can use it to keep your skin oily, and your skin won't go producing more of its own oil with fuel for the yeast.
If the MCT doesn't list Lauric acid in the ingredients, then add up the C8 and C10 acids. They should add up to the total fatty acids listed. If they don't add up to the total fats, then assume it has Lauric acid. If the ingredients don't list the breakdown, then assume it's no good. Amazon is full of good MCT oils. Here is the one I'm using morning, after work, and at night (along with pure aloe morning and night, and Neutrogena T/Sal at night):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078WW14F7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BfG.BbQMP1THF
So to answer your question it loosens flakes, but also helps prevent your skin from producing food (its own oil) for the yeast that causes the SD problem.
I actually looked at my bottle & its 10,000IU , so I take 20,000 IU per day. I’m not concerned about the toxicity because that only occurs if you take 40,000+. Vitamin D has changed my life for the better, not only does it help with my SD, but it also helps my mood/body. I feel great all the time 60,000 Over Several Months
In my opinion you need to keep the flakes clear. For me, when I need to remove flakes under my facial hair I use an exfoliation cloth, which is basically just a cloth that's a bit rough and is able to remove dead skin.
something along these lines: https://www.amazon.com/pcs-Asian-Exfoliating-Bath-Washcloth/dp/B004C8DR1U/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=exfoliating+cloth&qid=1625750314&sr=8-5
Do not use a lot of pressure, be gentle and patient. Your skin may need to soak in the shower for an extended period of time before the flakes are easily removed without a lot of pressure. This should be done daily.
Damn man :/ I got prescribed desonide cream for when it's bad, and use this a few times a week.
A few things that have helped me that are more about routine: 1) don’t take showers that are too hot. In fact, I’ve found colder showers help. 2) dry your hair thoroughly. If your scalp is wet or damp, it’s a breeding ground. Even using a hairdryer can help. Definitely avoid hats. I know it’s not on your scalp, but that’s where it started. It’s the mothership. 3) if you have facial hair, probably best to shave it. I’ve found having a beard or mustache allows the seb to thrive in my face T area. Also having a clean shaven face is easier to treat. I know this is tough because it means exposing your skin, but it’s worth it.
Keep trucking. I started using Dermalogica cleanser (calming) and this cream (Seborrheic Dermatitis Cream with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01457FYDG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and I think I’m seeing good progress (my seb of concern is mostly on my face). Sometimes adding a new product can feel like turning a page, which is a nice feeling when you’re dealing with a long term issue.
It's definitely the one, because I've tried using the shampoo on my face and that didn't work at all. Cerave facial cleanser is good at what it does, but it's not going to fix anything but your face no longer being dirty. It doesn't irritate my skin at all though, so that's the main positive of it.
I started using Sebclair afterwards, in place of moisturisers (such as Aveeno), and the difference has been night & day.
I’ve started using Raw Manuka Honey I found on Amazon, Wedderspoon, Raw Premium Manuka... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014AP5JUG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I’m on my second week of using every other day and I’m noticing slow progress against the redness, flakes and itching on my face. It’s very slowly helping with some scars as well.
I had realistic expectations since almost every I’ve tried hasn’t helped in the long term. I’m hopeful but feel optimistic about this treatment. I just let the shower rinse it off sometimes. Every other time I use a microfiber cloth to do some light physical exfoliation. I use a light moisturizer after every time.
I would suggest getting some small silicone spatula to help you apply the manuka honey easier and cleaner. I use these 2 PCS Silicone Face Mask... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075K72NRW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share.
The honey masks are worth a try. It feels pretty soothing when it’s on. I often wash off enough so they’re still a little bit of a film of the honey on my face when I apply the moisturizer. It’s gonna be trail and error on applying it. I hope it helps, good luck!
Have you used head and shoulders made specifically for Sebhorreic Derm? Because that’s the only thing that has and continues to work for me . Edit here is the purchase link to amazon: Head and Shoulders Anti Dandruff Clinical Strength, Seborrheic Dermatitis Shampoo, 13.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MFGTAO5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WB04BbC4TRDMG
Makes sense, thank you for the explanation! Doesn't your hair get oily after putting this on post shower? I'm thinking of putting this on before bed at night and shower in the morning - thoughts?

Can't find the Mea Vita brand on Amazon in the US so will try this as you recommended in the other thread:
That: https://www.amazon.com/Ordinary-100-Plant-Derived-Squalane-30ml/dp/B0719WNNK4
I bought it yesterday and it seems to be good. Also it's confirmed that this product does not feed the Malassezias.
Try using a Konjac sponge. It’s good enough to get the flakes and gently exfoliate your skin but not harsh enough like a towel to rip off your skin
Minamul Konjac Exfoliating Organic Facial Sponge Set | Gentle daily face scrub/skincare | infused with best bamboo activated charcoal | Safe for Oily, Dry, Combination or Sensitive skin | 6 pack set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073TP93QK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8RGfFbSEDQA5N
I’ve used this for two years and haven’t had one since. Also find a good probiotic, and this might be tmi but sex can throw off your balance as well.
I bought it from German Amazon since I'm in Europe. But I'll give you the link so you can see what it looks like :) https://www.amazon.de/Xucker-Premium-kalorienreduzierte-Zuckeralternative-Xylit/dp/B00COHV12S/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?cv_ct_cx=Xylitol&dchild=1&keywords=xylit&pd_rd_i=B00COHV12S&pd_rd_r=35b18ac9-5246-4e0f-b586-2af6806c834e&am...
I have found that dermal razors work best for me. They are typically used to remove peach fuzz and groom eyebrows and small hairs. I like to use one with bumpers on it so I'm not shaving my skin layer off. It definitely helps remove flakes quickly without ripping or tearing. Good luck! Amazon facial razor
You could try a sulfate free ketoconazole shampoo. It should be significantly less drying than nizoral. Regenpure offers one sold on amazon that I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032FSDOA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah, whatever you do, do not get it at CVS - it's almost $20 at CVS. It's much cheaper on Amazon, or if you need it today, you can go to Walmart and get it for about the price you'd get at Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Nizoral-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Ketoconazole-Dandruff/dp/B00AINMFAC
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nizoral-A-D-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-7-Oz/856878537
I tried ALL the medicated shampoos and seb derm laughed at them. My scalp was over dry and my hair was all falling out. This more natural, non-medicated shampoo has been a way better option for me. (Side note: RoyceDerm cream has cured my scalp. No shampoo could do what it has done.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYGUSUD/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This product on amazon is working for a lot of people's seb derm. There is also a thread on reddit for it. I've been using it for a week and nothing for me though. At about day 2 for one day it looked like it was working.
Not with that old routine, unfortunately. I've been using Dermoscribe Sulfur cream for about 2 months and it's been a game changer. It reduced the amount of scale and the redness from my rosacea.
Yeah! I have curly/wavy hair so I found that the shampoo I use helps with my curls the most. I get it at Target. You can really use any regular shampoo you'd like, I just found what works best for me and my hair type. Everyone is different so keep that in mind. What works for me, might not work for you. I linked what I use below.
https://www.amazon.com/Not-Your-Mothers-Naturals-Conditioner/dp/B07KQ24CZS
You can get it at most pharmacies and grocery stores on the shelf.
I don't see it as available on Amazon - but here is what you're looking for in store:
If you have any seb derm flaking/redness on your face as well, I reccommend working up the suds on your scalp first with this shampoo - and then dragging some down onto your face. Spread it around and leave it for a couple minutes before rinsing. It will dry out your face, but does a good job of dealing with the Malassezia & drying up the sebum oils.
That will dry up your skin - so you'll need a good oil-free moisurizer as well. I use CeraVe - Facial Moisturizing Lotion (PM). Only the night-time one is oil-free though I believe, and sadly it is a small bottle - but it works great.
Been thru 4 rounds. This is perfect for me. Not at ALL greasy (I'm 67. Only lotion I have found that doesn't give me zits): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LN358I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As long as it’s pure you’ll be fine. It is a dietary supplement. It is just a powerful oil that helps moisturize as well. Most all brands will be good to go.
This is a daily facial cleaner that works wonders and doesn’t dry my skin out after showers too
Similarly, I use https://www.amazon.com/Paulas-Choice-RECOVERY-Sensitive-Redness-Prone/dp/B00949CII0 on my scalp, which has been helping but hasn't removed it 100%.
Diet will most definitely help substantially. Eating less fried food will be a good start. I also use what’s called MCT C8 Pure. It’s an oil die iced from coconuts that has been excellent in giving my skin the ability to stay moisturized. After 2-3 applications over the past week (applying it to the area before bed and showering it off next morning), I see almost 100% clearance! I’ve been dealing with this for 12 years and nothing other than this product does anything beneficial.
I also use a facial cleanser every other day that has really helped keep my skin from getting too dry after showering. With these two products I’ve gotten my skin back to a manageable state! Hope you can find some relief my friend :)
I am diagnosed with CIU which is “hives of an unknown cause” and my skin looks very similar! I’ve started using MCT C8 Pure on my skin twice a week. Leaving it on over night and showering it off in the morning. I have seen almost 100% reduction in redness, flakiness, and irritation. It’s the only thing I’ve changed other than an improved diet. It’s been an absolute godsend for me. I have confidence again to talk to people face to face!
here is an Amazon link to the exact product :)
I truly hope this offers you some relief! You deserve to look the way you feel ;)
Honestly, I wouldn't open a thread assuring everyone this is it. But, Lirio soap was a great thing when I was a teenager, for my greasy skin and acne, though, it could be very abrasive with my skin, leading to some redness. I stopped using it for 10 years or so, in favor of a more mild soap, recommended by my dermatologist.
Recently, during a very bad flare-up, I washed my face again with Lirio soap. It was again very abrasive, but I noticed it was particularly abrasive with my sebum flakes. After washing, I could literally take some flakes off. Since my sebderm had become unmanageable, I figured I could use the soap again, but this time make an extra effort to diminish the redness in my skin. So, I kept reading this subreddit in search of a good moisturizer, with hialuronic acid, with good results for the people here and minimizing the number of ingredients. I tried the one I knew better, this Cerave moisturizer cream.
My routine is simple. I wash my face with Lirio soap in the morning and before going to sleep. Right after, I apply Cerave cream and sunblock (Isdin Fusion Water) on top. I do the same with my chest while showering, my chest looks normal now.
Currently, I experiment with washing my hair with the same soap and then use a regular shampoo. It feels way less greasy, but my hair is still very short from my past "extreme" routine that consisted of, well... basically, no hair.
Do I need to buy the more expensive HOCL sold as face spray, or can I buy the cheaper HOCL spray that's sold as cleaner, dilute it and spray it on my face? like this https://www.amazon.com/BRIOTECH-Sanitizer-Disinfectant-Non-Living-Hypochlorous/dp/B09BPY6FHB/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=HOCL&qid=1665975053&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjA4IiwicXNhIjoiNC44OSIsInFzcCI6IjQuNTcifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-25
I use a silicone hair scalp massager.
As a bonus it makes my Nizoral shampoo about 4x more effective. I have two, one by my chair and one in the shower.
HEETA 2-Pack Hair Scalp Massager... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NVKNY6Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Ive been using this and letting the lather sit for 20 mins 2x/wk on my face and scalp and the itching/redness clears. Way cheaper than derm rec shampoos too. Hope this helps! 🙌🏻
Amazon sells several ketoconazole/ chlorhexidine shampoos in the pet grooming section. I love this one. https://www.amazon.com/Ketoconazole-Chlorhexidine-Shampoo-Dogs-Cats/dp/B07K39HG96/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=9NUPI1CYAFRL&keywords=ketoconazole+shampoo&qid=1664999826&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjA2IiwicXNhIjoiMy40OCIsInFzcCI6IjMuMDkifQ%3D%3D&sprefix... I do my scalp/roots w this then apply a protein mask to the ends and let it sit for 20 mins, 2x/wk. Helps keep the flakes & itchiness away. 🙌🏻
I had the same issue for almost a decade and nothing worked until I tried using Nizoral. Specifically This shampoo. Its pretty expensive for a bottle of shampoo but it changed my life. Hope this helps.
i'm using this one at the moment

since you're in the UK, right?
how about this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keep-Clean-Sulphur-Soap-whytheface/dp/B00UVNG15Y
Hey :-) I recently started using this: https://www.amazon.com/DermaHarmony-Pyrithione-Zinc-ZnP-Soap/dp/B00MWB0ZGE Just a little lather & put on for 30 seconds then wash off. Before I was just using water, but I also feel something like this might help with keeping the skin clean & it’s made for seb derm.
I might try this supplement bc its similar to what you mentioned.
This one friend: https://www.amazon.com/Biossance-BIOSSANCE-100-Squalane-Oil/dp/B07658MRWW/ Bottle will last a long time 👍🏻
I use small makeup applicators to apply underneath brows: https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-Applicator-Microswabs-Extension-Removing/dp/B07RQ6TQZC/
I try to do it in morning & evening. The oil is still the best one I’ve tried for controlling inflammation. I wish you luck with it!
OP, since you're in the U.K., have you tried this shampoo by Bioblas with Zinc Pyrithione? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bioblas-Against-Dandruff-Pyrithione-Shampoo/dp/B07JL32Y13/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3AK7PVMAZUJGR&keywords=bioblas+anti+dandruff&qid=1662900130&sprefix=bioblas+anti+dandruf%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-5
I'm afraid to import it for €25 into EU mainland because of how may times I was (literally) stung by purchasing the "wrong" eczema shampoo. Kelual DS (milky formula) was the only thing that helped throughout the years.
You can find on Amazon. Just make sure its not a blend (few are blends with coffee). I personally use this one L https://www.amazon.com/Worldwide-Botanicals-Substitute-All-Purpose-Caffeine/dp/B071ZTFGFT/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2XOPJ14T4VWHE&keywords=chicory+root&qid=1662223190&sprefix=chicory+%2Caps%2C512&sr=8-5
You can try dead sea salt shampoo. I pucharsed some recently and, when I use it, I don't have any dry skin behind ears like I do usually
but if I don't wash my head every 3 days with it, it comes back as quick as it disapeared
This is the one I got : https://www.amazon.fr/Shampoing-Antipelliculaire-Shampooing-D%C3%A9mangeaisons-Irritations/dp/B08KYMXY3X
I bought a scalp brush from Amazon a few weeks ago. I have been desperate because this current flare on my scalp has been excruciating and I have been at a total loss and frankly in a pit of despair because of how significantly it is affecting my life.
The Briogeo scalp brush has been unbelievably effective. I have tried many other scalp brushes before and this one is magic. My flare still has not gone into remission yet, but this brush has been a miraculous tool that is gentle but firm enough to stimulate the scalp and help loosen and remove scales without damaging my hair which has been falling out in huge clumps leaving me with multiple bald spots... so that's fun. 🙄
I have posted the amazon link below if anyone wants to check it out.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C42J593?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
I actually take probiotics and checked that L. Paracasei is one of the strains it has. I will say there is improvement overall but it's not completely gone. I have consumed probiotics for 3 months now.
I've never dealt wit hair loss before, but the only way I can get buildup out of my scalp/hair is using this shampoo.

Professional Diagnosis: Yes
Areas of the body affected: mostly around nose, moustache area, chin, left cheek bridge between eyes, eyebrows. used to have it in neck and on chest as well
Experiencing Hair loss Issues : No
*current: only have a bit of flaking around nose. dermatologist recently prescribed topical prednisone (steroid) for 1 week. other cream I use is Mycosten (ciclopirox olamine). currently using this sulphur soap bar
*scalp: same sulphur soap bar is keeping my scalp from itching and flaking
Seborrheic Dermatitis Cream,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y279LYK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I did 10 days of this cream and now I apply as needed (maybe every 3-4 days). Hairline, face, brows, ears and chest are all clear. I am off of the hydrocortisone completely.
Luckily, my scalp is behaving with a apple cider vinegar pre-soak and a rotation of salicylic shampoo, tea tree shampoo and, rarely, Nizoral. I have used the cream I mentioned on my scalp but there is a lot of waste getting it there.
Sehborric dermatitis can effect the eyes, which is shitty since you want to avoid getting the treatments in your eyes. Sounds like they gave you some steroid cream, which you definitely don't want to use long term (especially around the eyes). That can potentially cause serious issues.
You can use normal seb derm shampoos, but you need to be careful with application. Definitely make sure you clean around the eye area carefully when you wash up every day. I would also suggest buying some eye-safe wipes to use, and using those periodically through the day. Something like these.
https://www.amazon.com/Systane-Lid-Wipes-Cleansing-Sterile/dp/B07957174S/
I used hydrocortisone 2.5% for over 30 years, it was the only thing that would work for me until recently, then I found this cream and I’ve had really good luck so far with it. Good luck!!!

This is the one I ordered. I hope my experience will be as good as the reviews claim, but I won’t know until I’ve been using it a full month. At least I can say that it smells better than my Cerave SA bar — at least to me — since it arrived today.

works for me, I also use dead sea salt. I just pop the mct on my face, around my nose, in my ears, and in my beard. I wash my face with salt in the shower maybe once a week.
good luck
I am in the same boat too. Btw, can someone help me if this MCT oil is safe?
I use these little silicone scrubbers. They’re like a small, gentle version of the ones you might use on your scalp. I have two versions I use, and I prefer this one in the eyebrow/forehead area: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3Z5172. And then this one is much gentler: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H6Y7BR3
I just toss them in the dishwasher every week.

Hi there. Awesome! I can’t tolerate any of the vanicream moisturizers, I use this moisturizer cause it’s oil and fragrance free. It doesn’t irritate my face or cause any break outs.
This is what I use. All ingredients in it are safe for SD. I buy the gallon size with the pump now and just refill my small bottle.
Organic Body Wash & Face Wash – Raw & Wildcrafted with Probiotics, Soapberry Formula for Eczema & Psoriasis - Wild Plants Selected for Sensitive & Dry Skin, 9oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHWB3KZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Q1NA473RZBANPWHRWDT1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
But it really my ebDerm worse...perhaps I need the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum after each application.
These are the steps that I’m taking.
1) No more shaving with a razor (I’ll use an electric one, and it won’t be as often)
2) No more hot showers
3) Different shampoo and conditioner (going back to the Tee Tree one)
4) Ordered this eczema cream- Clinically Tested Cream for Eczema, Dermatitis and Psoriasis Treatment - Urea 8%, Probiotics w/Best Natural Ingredients - Face & Body Lotion - Itchy, Severely Dry, Scaly Skin. Moisturizer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078XHH67R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_45D6QD28VG8BGPX2BEBW
I’ve tried Eucerin and Cereve and others but they don’t really work.
5) I’ll start taking probiotics as it may be a gut issue..
6) I’m working on setting up a allergy test for chemicals (I have food allergies so I already know what I’m allergic to)
Mainly I want to know how I can calm down this flare and get it under control.
Amazon I think you were seeing the ones above the one I just linked. The asterisk beside any product means it may or may not feed the malezzia and upset your seb derm.
Everyone is different, but one of the keys for me was to exfoliate my skin first, shampoo my hair, and then COMPLETELY dry my hair/scalp before applying moisturizer/lotion.
I would advise trimming your beard down to stubble and using the keto. Use a face scrubber. I use
INNERNEED Super Soft Silicone Face Cleanser and Massager Brush Manual Facial Cleansing Brush Handheld Mat Scrubber for Sensitive, Delicate, Dry Skin (Pack of 4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3Z5172/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XNPJ68MZ0B2EG4VMVJ8S
Let it hang out for like three minutes. Wash it off. After you Pat your face dry, hit it with hydrocortisone cream. That reset my skin pretty well
This is the one I use. I found the liquid soap to be a little more effective than the bar personally but I haven't tried any other brands besides this one - https://www.amazon.com/DermaHarmony-Pyrithione-Liquid-Castile-Bottle/dp/B01MZ83LQX
That link doesn't work for me.
Yeah I looked this up on Amazon and under ingredients it references some list which I cannot find on the page. Cannot find a website for Charmpoo, seems sus.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Antifungal-Anti-Itch-Ringworm-Athletes-Infections/dp/B09D3C5XHL
https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Tiger-Skin-Ointment-Ounce/dp/B00885O5TG/
I used it every night for two months and I haven't used it at all for 4 weeks now and I'm entirely symptoms free. It's the first time in about 7-8 years that I haven't put anything on my skin (outside regular soap and water) for that long.
I think you can make your own too. Just get some empty gel capsules and pure boric acid (not to be confused with borax!). This bottle I got from Amazon has lasted me a while though.
Honestly. I really urge you not to use hydrocortisone. I was prescribed it when I first broke out too, and it thins your skin barrier and you can never really heal from that.
Try other methods. Mine is completely under control by washing every night with Vanicream and then moisturizing with Cerave PM
I still get a bit of redness now and then, but its very manageable. Sunscreen is key
I use this one but honestly any will do. Just make sure it’s 100% rose water with nothing else added
CORTAS Rose Water (300 ml - 10 fl oz) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00V8TRZG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_93CQHKFAAC9RZQWXSEY5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Elidel is RX, yes. It’s the only thing I’ve found to help with the flaking.
I have both rosacea and seb derm like yourself. I have done hours of research, so I know well what is safe to use for both conditions and what will worsen each one. Vitamin E oil is safe. I owned the one from Natures Bounty because they’re also a supplement brand so it’s high quality.
The filter I have goes on, then you install your shower head back on after. A filter won’t work for all water, and your water very well may not be the issue. Where I live has a lot of chlorine (I think?) in the water. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G7AZB96/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6G91W735QRNFARWNV3B1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use this product Shaving Foam Nivea Silver Protect, in the ingredients have silver citrate. I used it to shave my beard and mustache and the sebderm stopped almost 90%, it's no irritating, not itchi and the sebderm stopped expanding in my beard, in fact is reduced.
I bought this product because the antibacterial properties of silver ions, the ingredient is forbbiden in the USA. I'm not from the USA
Sorry for my bad English, any questions?
I found this website too https://thesilveredge.com/nivea/
I can’t pinpoint for certain what it was that helped clear the majority of it up as I started using a few different products at the same time but I think it’s the 2% Zinc Pyrithione.
But a normal day is:
Wake up and wet my face, rub my 2% Zinc Pyrithione soap bar into my Face Cloth until it starts to lather and then gently wash my already wet face with the cloth. Let it sit in my face for 30 seconds then rinse some of it off with running water and rinse my cloth out, then wet the Face Cloth again with clean water and gently wash my face with it again. (I’ve found that by only rinsing my face with running water, there’s still some of the soap residue left on it)
(I don’t think this part is that important but it makes my skin to be less dry and smoother) Then I hop in the shower and when I’m out, gently pat dry my face and since it’s still a bit damp, apply some COSRX Advanced Snail Mucin 96% Skin Repair Serum then follow that up with Rohto Hadarabo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Moisture Lotion Rohto Hadarabo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Moisture Lotion.
After starting that routine I’ve also started taking Omega 3, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin D3 vitamins daily, which I’d saw recommend from some people with SD that helped their condition. I’ve also started doing a Oil Cleanse every other day which I’ve read is good for your skin and removing Sebaceous filaments. I do the oil cleanse first then move onto the first bit in this comment, using the 2% Zinc Pyrithione.
Though I can’t say for sure what helps the most as I started a number of these things at the same time, I do think it’s the.
I don’t know if your in the US or not, but I’m a bit of a cheapskate so I always check out Ross’s or TJ Maxx (TK Maxx in the UK/Europe) skincare section. For serums, I go for anything that has vitamin C and E in it. For moisturizer, I go for the creams in the little jars that uses aloe vera (because that calms redness the best), vitamin c, and/or says “hydrating” or “repairing”. IMPORTANT: make sure you check what country manufactured it and avoid ANYTHING made in China. A company can be based in the US but have their stuff manufactured in China. The best countries to buy from are Korea (skincare there is super important and they have it down perfectly), Japan, Italy, France, and Poland.
Since these stores don’t carry the same thing because they get random “leftover” merchandise, though, a specific brand moisturizer I love is Garnier’s SkinActive Moisturizer with Aloe.
IDK if this is something you already know, but sebderm is primarily caused by our bodies not being able to fight off a common fungus that's everywhere. But usually antifungal creams aren't effective from what I've seen I think because they're usually low-strength and probably target a different type of fungus that what causes sebderm. My dermatologists have only prescribed ketoconazole (cream and shampoo) which is really ineffective for me. What I've found recently that works best for my face is this Sulfur 8 Conditioner. While it says it's a hair and scalp conditioner, it's actually more like a Vaseline so you can just rub a bit of it on the affected area. It doesn't smell like sulfur but it does have the Vaseline medicinal smell which makes me dizzy, but I try to leave it on for an hour or two before washing it off and then doing my daily facial serum and moisturizer.
Looking at your picture, though, I've never had the raised red spots on my face, only on my scalp. My guess is that means it's probably more severe and may take longer to treat.
Hope this helps and hope you can get it treated! I know how awful it can be...
Get this and you will be SD free man believe me. I tried everything this is the only thing that is working, my skin is so clear it’s as if I never had SD
The recommended Avene one is being nice to my skin 👌
Have you tried a plastic bracket that keeps the mask from touching your skin everywhere but the perimeter of the mask? I realize that it's still going to be humid inside the mask while using the bracket, but maybe removing some of the friction from that inflamed spot could give you relief.

Fluconazole 100mg once a day for 28 days. I got the yeast cleanse from Vitamin Shoppe but here’s the link to the same on Amazon.
The redness around my hairline went away and mostly was just left with a few fungal acne bumps. Best of luck!

This is the applicator I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/AKOAK-Quality-Plastic-Squeezable-Childproof/dp/B01N3T942L/ref=sr_1_5?crid=HXXSLEGDBWXI&keywords=15ml+plastic+dropper+bottles&qid=1648676730&sprefix=15ml+plastic+dropper+bottle%2Caps%2C62&sr=8-5
If you're still hesitant about the rest of the ingredients, the H&S Scalp Elixir is also a good alternative. I've used it myself, and it didn't cause a flareup.
I'm using a gentle shampoo that's specifically formulated for irritated scalp. It's the Node A Soothing Shampoo by Bioderma. It's ph-balanced and does not contain harsh detergent chemicals.
This is my detailed, updated routine.
D1: Bioderma Shampoo
D3: Ciclopirox Shampoo or other antifungals followed by TO niacinamide (diluted)
D5: Bioderma
D7: Bioderma
The Bioderma Shampoo is quite hydrating on its own, so I usually skip applying any scalp hydrating products afterwards.
After having looked and looked, this aloe and propolis gel works wonders for me :
Have you tried a shampoo brush? I use this one from amazon:
I've found that for me it really helps with shampooing more thoroughly and removing flakes gently. I also use it before showering to 'loosen' flakes so they come out easier when I wash my hair.
Nope, I put them on before my skincare every night until there was nothing left. And it’s “silicone scar sheets” on Amazon. I liked these best https://www.amazon.com/Aroamas-Professional-Silicone-Scar-Resulting/dp/B09BZX26PK/ref=sxts_rp_s1_0?crid=2LP94SOXD6N7H&cv_ct_cx=silicone+scar+sheets&keywords=silicone+scar+sheets&pd_rd_i=B09BZX26PK&pd_rd_r=b638bb42-de48-4afc-9ad4-a3...
Two weeks, every night... I was free completely! Still it has never returned. It worked better than anything and I hope it brings some relief. Please update me!
