I'd like to add some extra details here. A good portion of these either applies more to Marth or is specific to him, but Lucina can also make do with these quite well.
I suggest this over the one he suggested.
USB 3.0 is generally better. I've had it since smash launch and I have a really smooth experience.

Here, go and stop tweaking
PDP is pretty good. They have both gamecube controllers and officially licensed pro controllers(wired and unwired, and even with characters on them. The gamecube controllers also can be character themed) so you might find one with diddy kong. My only complaint with the pro controllers is that you can't use a mic when you plug in a headset into the controller, but I play shooters on ps4 anyways.

Their gamecube controllers are called Wired Fight Pad Pro. Here's a mario one: https://www.amazon.com/Wired-Fight-Pad-Pro-Controller-Compatible/dp/B07GX4ZLFJ/
If you need a decent 3rd party switch controller, get this one. I have abused the ever loving shit out of it thanks to Smash and it still works perfectly

40 feet for $12 i would definitely say it is worth it
a daily reminder that if wifi players took $10 out of their sand eating budget then they could get an adapter
I don't want to downplay the idea that shelling out for accessories just to have an acceptable connection is ridiculous. Nintendo saw the last 2 generations of competitors' consoles with built-in ethernet, and said "nah fuck that," so you're right to be annoyed.
However, are you looking at 3rd party accessories or just Nintendo licensed accessories? Cuz this guy is about 1/3 the price of Nintendo's ethernet adapter.
Alternatively, does your router have a 5-GHz band that you can connect to instead of 2.4-GHz? If you're absolutely stuck using wifi, a 5-GHz band can at least help a little bit.
Nintendo official pro controller hasn't degraded in performance even slightly in 3+ years of use, 3 thousand hours on smash. Has been dropped a million times and is fine. Bought a second one just for the fuck of it and it works perfectly as well.
PoweaA shit sucks. I have 4 broken GameCube controllers from them. They will replace your stuff for you for free though, so eventually you can create 1 super controller from all the broken ones
8bitdo products have treated me pretty well. Only problem is, they are hard as fuck to fix. The connection strips they use are so fragile. Best part is that they can connect to your phone and PC so you can play pirated video games on a controller. This one is basically a pro controller. I have had 2 of the SNES styled ones (basically the one I linked minus the handles) and they work great. Customer support is shitty though, they'll just link you the site for parts and tell you to fix it yourself. The SNES style one also has the best dpad ever made. Small issue for smash, the shoulder bumpers aren't that big, but I've never had any problem with them. Also they have a turbo function? It's a pretty bad one and you have to set it up in a weird way, but if someone knows that it has the function, you might not be able to take it to tournaments. But I'm pretty sure they operate on honor rules so you're probably fine
Why did he say it was concept? You can literally buy it now.
Bro can't wait for the fuckin steve amiibo
In vanilla and speed, you can usually get a down-throw into a fair depending on %. Shulk's grab game is kinda meh. The main reason to grab is to condition the opponent out of shielding or getting an f-throw to gain stage control.
One exception though, Shulk's reward off a grab is incredibly high in Buster art.
Buster down-throw can combo into D-tilt, F-tilt, F-smash, Up-B and Instant Dash Attack depending on % and weight. You can also nair into a grab in Buster art so something like nair>d-throw>f-tilt will net you about 45%.
You can also kill confirm off of a grab in Buster art. At about 90% near the ledge, go for a down-throw but tap B really quick three times during the throw animation and follow up immediately with an up-B. You can sometimes get this trick at about 60% with an f-smash on some fastfallers or big bodied characters. We call this trick "Buffered Deactivation"
Vision at ledge is actually pretty amazing if he uses Octoslash. Octoslash hits above ledge all the time and hits pretty far below. The worst counter in the game is actually pretty good here.
As for reasons for character hate. Imma be honest I think most people don't play against enough Shulk mains to hate them. And the ones they do play against aren't really that great. Many of them don't even know how to use Buster well or shield out of combos.
The character is also seen as pretty difficult. There is some easy stuff that gets annoying and is shockingly easy (speed art nair spam) but playing Shulk well means a solid amount of decision making that's not present in other characters, and managing those debuffs so you don't cause more harm than good to yourself. Plus, there's plenty of tech to add (my personal favourite is Buffered Deactivation) which is entirely unique to Shulk.
Also, Shulk can be hype depending on what you do which helps. Offstage fair isn't hype but landing a cool dial storage kill confirm like buster nair -> dial storage smash f-smash is pretty sick.
You have most certainly come to the right place.
My router is in my living room as well, I'm trailer trash though so it's a little less distance. I used a tape measurerer and found that I'm about 90ft away from the router. It's only worth considering wifi over wired when you're using a ~400 feet long cable, and even then they keep getting faster so it might even be worth to use one past 400ft. I bought a 100ft long ethernet cable (on sale rn) and an adapter. Make sure your parents are whoever are okay with having the cord on the ceiling or wall. It took me maybe a little more than an hour to hook up my cord along the wall. It comes with these peg things that you hammer in, they have one nail on them and they have a u-shaped thing that holds the wire in place. Some versions also come with sticky things instead of nails if your family isn't okay with you putting a bunch of holes in the wall. Make sure you don't drop any of the wall holder things because a pet or a sibling might eat them. if your family is okay with you using the nails instead of the sticky things, see how hard it is to hammer a nail into your wall. You only need to go one inch for the wall holder thing to be all the way in. And make sure you have the path for the cord planned beforehand. It cost me like $30 and an afternoon but now I have the civil rights to complain about lag. If you need any more help just ask
Honestly. In my experience, Dial Storage isn't as essential as you might think. If there's one bit of tech Shulk mains need to know, it's Buffered Deactivation since that creates a lot of kill confirms out of Buster. Activating arts in hitstun is also pretty good to get used to.
And I'm kinda surprised. He doesn't regularly top 8, but the world's best Shulk, Kome, took 2nd place at Evo Japan last year. People put too much stock on results alone, and then forget about the japanese scene.
