Dodged the rain for yet another shorts-weather day of December bike commuting! Honestly it's positively Mediterranean out there this month so far, with most of my morning commutes being done in 12 degree heat or more! I have only pulled out the bib tights once since November!
New tyres on the commuter bike meant I absolutely smashed last night's commute home with 1 PR and 5 other top 3 personals, and I'm feeling good about tonight too.
I won't mind if all of winter stays this mild :)
The 995i version? I'll keep an eye out while I'm riding about. I'd strongly recommend getting a GPS tracker. Mine will set my phone off if anything touches the bike, if it goes over 1mph, if it leaves a designated area, all sorts. You can see where it's been as well, so even if they get away with it, find it and smash the tracker, you'll still see where it got to. All works through an app on your phone - it's woken me up at night a few times when people have had a go on the Fazer.

Yes, there's an app for Android too https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.ac.ceh.hornets
More info about the hornet plus links to the apps and a reporting form are on NNSS website

You might be interested in Southampton Makerspace - it's a non-profit volunteer-ran hub for creative people and is a great place to go to learn new things (and share your knowledge with others). If nothing else you might find interested people on the mailing list - feel free to pop a message on there!
Did anyone go to that secret cruise meetup at Mayflower park, I believe it was in aid of a tribute to the late Paul Walker and raising money for his charity.
I saw some people had recreated the green and orange cars from the first film, they looked pretty damn slick. I hadn't seen anything promoting it before hand, wouldn't have minded going but had other plans.
EDIT: Found a photo on Instagram (not mine) of the green one and a photo of them both
I've recently used a guy called Dan to move a sofa for me, he advertises as a man with a van on gumtree - there are loads advertised in Southampton, but do be wary of flytipping and ask to see their waste licenses
Gameboy person never messaged :(
. Anybody interested. I'm willing to trade for just cause 3 with bloodhound rpg edition :) which makes it pretty cheap :) https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/gameboy-colour-and-8-awesome-games/1145987999
Edit. Turns out I'm going to get just cause 3 today anyway :) hurrah for just cause 3 :)
Great advice!
Question to other skaters; I've recently moved to Southampton and started cruising on my cruiser board. Any nice pieces of tarmac/bicycle tracks where i can go for a long smooth (possibly scenic) skate? Southampton common is a little rough on my ATF rough riders 159mm!
The best one i've found so far is this one up to Eling Harbour
Realisticaly stuff within the university itself or an underpass. Southampton common underpass is pretty graffitti heavy if thats what you want. Otherwise the underpasses here might be an option:

I would recommend Southampton, An illustrated history, you can pick up cheap second hand copies on Amazon. Don't let the title fool you, it's mostly text with a few illustrations.
If you end up parking away from your actual road, I'd recommend a GPS tracker for your car. Most of them will have motion sensor/vibration alarms, speed alarms, geo fencing so it doesn't leave a certain area etc. They're only about £40 for the unit and take a normal SIM card - a Giffgaff SIM with the £6 monthly package is plenty. this is what I use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KX9HFWI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_1WPE91Y0EF6K552BM92Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Toob is amazing and excellent value! I would start with your router as this is probably the main factor that's throttling your speed (bar distance to router, walls etc). I picked up this one last year and it's excellent: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0845XD62P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm using this router on Toob currently about 20m away from the router with a few dry walls in-between and I'm hitting 500mb up/down consistently.
Possibly doing a house viewing tomorrow. It'll be the only one this year- I like the house I'm in, but the house I'll be viewing belongs to one of my housemate's dads, so if it's any good I'll take it instead.
New Breakbot coming out Friday, so I'm quite excited about that.
Foot is still attached and nearly all better.
I'm sure there will be fireworks everywhere. Even when I was in Shirley, the whole place was alit with them.
Sorry I cannot be of specific help. I'm struggling to find info too. There was a post on tripadvisor asking the same and it seems Southampton is rather shit for official NYE events.
One of the new members of So make it; Southampton Makerspace is running a new gaming night (specifically board games, D&D, and other stuff I'm not particularly into) on Wednesday nights. Still in the process of formalizing the schedule a little and making a meetup event for it; but you can find the google groups thread about it here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/somakeit/HnJU5cvIz_Q
our facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/SoMakeIt which is a good way to get in touch.
Yes, there are a few of us flying, or building multirotors. In fact we've created very recently a new sub-group (un-named yet) at So Make It specifically to address this. Checkout and talk to the interested parties on this https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/somakeit/FVzQKnKlO2Y thread on our public google group, or just come along and chat - Tues night are good as at least two multi-rotor maniacs will be around.
I’d recommend something like this for the printer.
BL Touch, Creality BLTouch for Ender3 V2/Ender 3/Ender 3 Pro/Ender 5/Pro with 32 Bit V4.2.2/V4.2.7 Mainboard 3D Printer, Upgraded Auto Bed Leveling Sensor Kit 3D Printer Accessories https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08PTWDVVS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_126RB8A7MDBW9ACXKGR4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Before printing it takes measurements at different points around the bed then prints accordingly. So if your front left corner was higher than the other corners, it would print higher on that side to give you an even print. It means your bed doesn’t need to be anywhere near as level as what it does currently.

There was a piece about this on BBC local news last night which showed that it wouldn't do to get too excited about it.
The new company has one aircraft leased, no air crew and the item showed that some of the other craft that were leased have been converted to fight forest fires.
BBC South on the Iplayer BBC iPlayer - South Today - Evening News: 15/04/2021 has the info starting at 5mins and 30 seconds in. The programme is only available until 7pm tonight.
Not sure you're allowed to put up posts that are for selling stuff but here's the link https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/gameboy-colour-and-8-awesome-games/1145987999
Had a few people asking about it, I got the price of it from seeing how much the games and gameboy go for and then adding it up then taking some off to get the 70 price :)
Open to haggling on the price :)
Here's one of mine that starts from central, heads out the north and into the forest. Few more on my profile on this site https://www.bikemap.net/en/r/5773402/
One way around your problem is to get a 4G router. More power than a MiFi, and it has lan connectors.
Get a cheap SIM card from giffgaff or 3 and you’ll be good to go.
In town the Co-Op by Ikea has a surprisingly well stocked American section, ~~as well as the Tesco Express on the High Street just past the Bargate~~ (turns out they actually don't have one any more).
Failing that Hooch & Candy at the top of town almost certainly will have A&W, just at a bit more of a premium price.
There is also Yau Bro's, a chinese/asian supermarket that may be worth checking out. They have a random selection sometimes.
Or there's always Amazon.
