It’s a 17th century broadsheet spoof. But it’s long story to explain it’s relevance. It’s explained in this The Games Room: A Novel Interpretation of Stanley Kubrick's Film The Shining (Second Edition) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1916317731/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_s2VcGbJ1YZ3VN
Anyone on here have this Napoleon book? The screenplay is in there too. Expensive...

This collection on Amazon has the uncensored version of the orgy scene. The 20 minutes or so of cut footage is just a myth among movie fans, nothing more.
This one, also from BestBuy...
I actually thought it was the only version for BestBuy. Now that I'm looking at both side by side, I'm not sure I prefer mine anymore. Lol.
Use an AI image upscaler to enhance the image resolution, like this one: https://icons8.com/upscaler
Start with a higher res image of that shot, like this one.
You're talking about this?

I originally was going to buy that, but I changed my mind to buy The Shining and 2001 in 4K. I will eventually buy A Clockwork Orange but only when the price drops. I also own Full Metal Jacket in 4K
If you want Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut and a replacement for your FMJ DVD Amazon UK has a great deal right now on the latest box.
It includes 2001 and The Shining in 4K as well their blurays so it's a hell of a deal.
It's readily available from any US shop. Amazon has one that includes A Clockwork Orange and 2001 for $13 https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Kubrick-Triple-Feature-2001/dp/B008MILL8C/ref=sr_1_4?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1489421594&sr=1-4&keywords=the+shining
Where is your source for this? I was always under the impression that what he screened for Kidman and Cruise and a WB exec was the cut they ultimately used. The only changes were in the US to hide the actual sex during the orgy scene because it wouldn't get an R rating otherwise. And mind you, Kubrick was already aware he'd have to censor these scenes in some countries.
This is a great book on it: Amazon.com: Eyes Wide Shut: Stanley Kubrick and the Making of His Final Film: 9780190678036: Kolker, Robert P., Abrams, Nathan: Books
Being that Kubrick had unprecedented levels of control on his movies, I simply don't see WB randomly cutting 30 minutes from his near finished movie months out from release cause the dude died. What we got was 97% Kubrick's vision, sans the censoring which honestly was quite tasteful considering the easier option would be to cut those moments entirely.
This one is cropped and it has the title, but not obscuring the photo: https://www.architeg-prints.com/product/2001-space-odyssey-stanley-kubrick-movie-poster
Another - It does have the title, but it is less obtrusive and on the bottom. https://www.amazon.com/2001-Guaranteed-Certified-Holographic-Authenticity/dp/B07HHSJ7S5/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=2001%3A+A+Space+Odyssey+poster&qid=1668805425&sr=8-5
Couldn't find anything else.
I don't know if we're looking at two different dolls or not, but that is definitely from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
https://www.amazon.com/Barbie-Marilyn-Gentlemen-Prefer-Blondes/dp/B002975H7I
The content of those two are identical, though the layout is different. I have both. One is portrait, the smaller, cheaper one. And the larger version in landscape. They both have their uses but for the average fan who wants to have a read go with the cheapest unless you specifically want the larger format. I also would buy from the US. That portrait (cheaper) version is gobsmackingly expensive.
See AMAZON UK at £15.22 so I imagine you could have it for $35 delivered.
Do you have a source for that Joel? Hotline was released in October 2012. The video in March of that year. Although the video came out before the game, the game was well underway by that time. Sources of inspiration for Hotline were well documented.
Anyway both the music video and the video game are sick as fuck. Cheers.
*This short was inspired by Hotline: https://vimeo.com/81664343
Addendum: the Sunburst motif was not just restricted to interior design. Everyone's favourite, most beloved skyscraper (or any other building) in New York - voted so in poll after poll both of the public and of architects - is the Chrysler Building, whose most distinguishing feature is its stainless-steel clad upper section: a giant Sunburst.
I made my codpiece by supergluing t-shirt fabric over a boxing crotch protector. Pretty accurate if I do say so myself.

This is the book you're looking for
It doesn't really have the same nice narrative story-telling vibe of Benson's book, but it's a solid overview of the production in all its aspects
Coincidentally this uk programme on an IBM plant in Scotland has numerous references to Kubrick (albeit not really in the vein of your question. If you’re not in the UK then you will need a VPN)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000jltz/silicon-glen-from-ships-to-microchips
If you're interested in exploring these ideas further, I recommend Nathan Abram's Kubrick book: https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Kubrick-York-Jewish-Intellectual/dp/0813587107 (which I haven't read yet, but which may explain things more clearly than I have).
Here's a description of a talk he gave: "Professor Nathan Abrams in conversation, focusing on the central functions of Jewishness and psychoanalysis that shaped Kubrick’s auteurial preoccupations relating to themes such as war, outer space, masculinity, madness, and the mysteries of marital eroticism." [Emphasis added.]
I also highly recommend "The Age of Insight: The Quest to Understand the Unconscious in Art, Mind, and Brain, from Vienna 1900 to the Present" by Eric Kandel, which I have read. Even if you disagree with Kandel, I suspect you'll find the book stimulating.
Kandel is interesting, because he's one of our leading neuroscientists, and yet he doesn't simply reject Freud as pseudoscientific nonsense. Of course, he does reject Freud's specific "scientific" claims but not all of his philosophical ones. Reject them or not, they were highly influential on 20th Century art.
The book doesn't mention Kubrick, but Schnitzler figures into it. It's a book about some of the people who most influenced Kubrick and the common threads that ran through their work.
Yes That's good and Mr.Prestige post this not too long ago. I can find his faves for sure but just his takes on others that weren't his faves... THANKS!
Oh Sheeeeelleeeeeey! I got something for you hun! <3
The removal of the hospital scene was done in the cinemas. Kubrick sent an editor with specific instructions. (Only NY and LA venues were used at the time). As for why there are two extant, fully approved versions to this day might be explained in this: The Shining: The Definitive Puzzle Film : How Stanley Kubrick ingeniously used postmodernism, Jungian psychology and Edgar Allen Poe to conceal a light-hearted side to The Shining https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B093X45543/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_W4GCA5EQ8JADZXHCX911
I wouldn’t be surprised if he included elements from many other Schnitzler works (as well as many other books featured). He did similarly in The Shining as this details. The Games Room: A Novel Interpretation of Stanley Kubrick's Film The Shining (Second Edition) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1916317731/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_A692J1FTZ388ERGDNMP0
The timelines of the endings of EWS and The Shining are very similar. In fact TS also shares a similar timeline to Catcher in the Rye. This book goes into detail on the latter two. On the newspaper research front it also details the contents of Torrance’s scrapbook including the deliberate puzzles in it.

Boxes of pastries, like the one Bill brought to Diamond
In addition to rainbow or white lights, make sure there is a Christmas tree or two
Keep the TV on but muted, and get a DVD of The Nutcracker ballet - what Helena asked that she could stay up and watch
Maybe a poster of Cape Cod - in tribute to the naval officer Alice was ready to leave Bill for
A pool table
Serve Snackwell’s cookies and milk - Alice ate them
Marijuana - totally optional

It's available on Biblio as well, apparently.
Insane price. I added earlier that I think that there may be an updated version but it is only Amazon UK that is reducing the price so much.
They listed another TASCHEN book today that coincides with the New York exhibition of his photography.

I still can't believe how cheap this new edition is.
Sorry for the bad picture quality, I was so anxious to start reading that I just snapped some picture with phone.
This is my favorite Kubrick book.
This is a beautiful book that requires a huge table to read. And wear gloves so as not to get fingerprints on it! Or buy two and leave one unopened.
Stanley Kubrick: A Visual Analysis
The gestalt of the book is highly interesting if you love Kubrickian cinema. However, even if you don't fancy film analysis, the beginning of the book has some nice anecdotal information about Stanley as well as some intriguing quotes from the man himself.
