Depends on what VPN you are using. A proper VPN will work like that and affect your ping. I'm in the UK and if I VPN to USA East servers I get over 100 ping.

Things like nolagvpn just mess with SBMM they don't change where you play which is why your ping stays low. I've tried nolagvpn South Africa. I get ping below 20 usually. I used NordVPN to actually VPN to South Africa and had 200 ping.

There's different types of VPNs, ExpressVPN/NordVPN and those alike are your standard traditional VPN that will connect you to a server in the country you choose. That's what you have/did and that's not the same VPN used for COD. VPNs like NoLagVPN and other "gaming VPNs" don't actually connect you to a server in another country, they just send lines of code to trick the COD server into thinking your in another country which is supposed to break the SBMM.

So like do you get to play with the locals in South Africa though or was It by chance on my end playing with random Brits? Yea my ExpressVPN was terrible too, tried other locations I was stuck 200 ping too

Wait, a VPN doesn't connect you to a different country's server? I literally just tried this with an ExpressVPN, I set location to London UK and played with some Brits. I'm I missing something? One thing I noticed was it took way too long pinging and latency when playing.

It is actually a real VPN. It runs through OpenVPN and uses something called split routing so it only routes your traffic going to a certain server (in this case, the matchmaking server) all other traffic stays the same.

They provide their own VPN servers to route this traffic and you can actually use a standard VPN if you copy their OpenVPN configs. For example, I use a custom config that I run through NordVPN. Works exactly the same except I don't have to pay an additional subscription fee

I’ve tried using a VPN in the past (not the one mentioned.) and it just crashed the game every time i jumped in. NordVPN? Maybe, i forget. This game is so broken with hackers now it’s unreal. I’ve not once cheated in my life. Had a 1.98 KD in rebirth before this new update came out now seems to be loaded with hackers are my KD legit dropped to a 1.68 in about 3 months time. The odds of me getting into a good lobby that’s actually fun are very slim.

I don't know if she's cheating but about the ps4 and xbox thing you said is not totally true. I have PS5 controller and I am using ds4windows. you can select a preset to set for your controller. you can select either it plugs as a PS controller or emulate the Xbox controller. sometimes there are games that don't work for me if I am using it as a PS but works as an Xbox.
