You can also do a single din with an install kit, will give you a small storage box under the stereo. VERY easy install... Alpine makes a fantastic unit that's around $100.
Look at best buy or Crutchfield for the wiring harness and dash kit vehicle specific. Those 2 things should only run you another $30 or so.
Yup! Had it happen to me in February. I bought these and replaced them myself (it's a 2 person job since you need someone to hold up the lift gate). The new ones work great.

I know you can plasti dip or wrap it but I just ordered one from Amazon cuz I don’t know how to do that stuff lol.
I have a 2021 Forester and a Pixel 3A but I was having a similar issue with Android Auto. Apparently it works better plugged in then through Bluetooth and you need to use a data transfer cable (not one for just charging). I recently purchased this one and it's been working well so far: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07213D35X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_90TX4WGTK90CR71ESZYT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I think you are looking for fitted covers, but from I have seen, any that look half decent will cost several hundred dollars, but still won't trick anyone into thinking they belong there... I recently purchased this and I love it. The fit is better on the forester than some other covers like it, and it really doesn't look bad, just looks very utilitarian. Easy access to seatbelt and LATCH anchors.

Bad idea based on my research the Gates stuff is sub par. I used Amazon to search the OEM subaru part numbers and was able to put together the entire kit of OE parts minus the water pump and gasket. Bought those two items from dealer. Still only ended up in for 600 bucks I think. Radiator, thermostat, all gaskets, all hoses, belt, tensioner, idlers, water pump, etc.... everything OE Subaru. Did the job myself. Runs like a top with 225k miles now still. The Amazon seller is SubaruPartsOnline if you want to compare. I know the water pump and gasket especially I was told by people who know that the Gates stuff is China junk. The OE pump and metal gasket is what will last.
Not sure what state youre in, but I would double check your state laws. Im in Utah, which mandates a front plate unless your vehicle isnt equipped to carry a front plate. Technically speaking, my forester isnt equipped (doesnt have holes predrilled). I carry the front license plate in the glove box just in case though.
Also, check Amazon. Its not OEM, but its just going to be covered by a plate anyway. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JHQF3PP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_URKhCbCGQTCRC
Note: I'd already replaced the standard cargo area 194 bulb with one of these - much brighter, and very handy when working with camera gear in the cargo area.
We love our Tyger X-tray. It's made in the same factory as the equivalent rhino rack without the branding and higher price. I've had it on two vehicles so far so it's held up perfectly and is still in the same condition as it was when I got it out of the box. Here's it on our forester. It just went out of stock but they're normally in stock but here's the link
This one fits. It creates a second level, so you have to lift it out completely anytime you need something from the bottom, but does the job.

I have the luno life too. I got tired of airing it up at the campsite and being that guy making the loud noise from the pump. Losing air in the middle of the night and cold spots. There's a magnetic bug moon roof cover on Amazon.
Probably won't fit because of the size of our moon roofs. But you could make one copying the same idea using some screen and magnets.
I just put this Rola one on my 20 Sport.
Works well. Have the Subaru Crossbars.
I use a Steelie Car Mount to mount my Galaxy S7 on my 2012 Forester. Had the same gear for my last car and phone and it's not failed me yet. When it comes time to move the mount somewhere, just find a spare plastic membership/rewards card laying around and use it to wedge between the console and the mount. The VHB tape is tough but it'll come off with patience. Also, best to buy a roll of VHB tape from Amazon (the exact roll I bought 2 years ago this Friday and still use) if you expect to move the mount more than once. It's far cheaper than buying the tape kit from Steelie, and you can use it for anything else you need to stick on something.
I have one in my forester, I highly recommend a Rexing. They are 1080p and cheap on Amazon. Check the reviews. You can get them with the SD card. They have a couple fancy ones, but this one works great.

I will use this post to tag on that on my 2019 I have had nothing but trouble with my wife's Pixel 2. It refuses to either stay connected or to connect at all. On a long road trip yesterday we accidentally plugged hers in first rather than let mine (Pixel 3 XL) connect to Android auto and it completely messed things up. It connected for 30 seconds, disconnected and then I couldn't even get mine to connect until I pulled over, turned the car off and let the head unit reset. Ugh.. it's been a nightmare. Before I got the 3XL I had some occasional trouble with my 2XL, but not to the same extent as my wife.

Pretty easy to install and hide the cables. Was really pleased with how it looked
Oh yeah, there are lots of them too. This is the one I picked up (one of the cheaper units) and it hasn't failed me yet, save for needing to unplug and plug it back in once in a great while. So, the adapter coupled with the Torque app gives you all of the feedback that an AP can give you.
Edit: I'll be leaving for work in about an hour and if you'd like, I can take a short video of the tablet in my XT on start-up. It really is a neat app and probably the most useful mod I've done to my Forester.
Not sure, but I found the following comment on this page:
>The Subaru Forester involved in that evaluation was the 2.5i shown in the vehicle. With SUVs, what would be more impactful than the engine is the transmission, transfer case, and tires. For this, we were strictly looking at mainstream variations of popular small SUVs.
I found these online, wasn't sure if they'd fit but they ended up working great. You can find better looking OEM replacements elsewhere, but they tend to be pricey and I was looking for a budget solution at the time.
Nice! Highly recommend getting this on-off switch for it too. It looks and works great, and was a pretty easy install (and I am pretty ignorant to electrical work).
I am interested to hear your progress with this, as I've been recently researching doing the same for my 2017 Forester! I haven't started anything yet, but wanting to keep it simple. Thinking a foam mattress (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Tri-Fold-Folding-Mattress-Guests/dp/B00NB2NOJI/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=millfold+trifold+mattress&qid=1622592024&sr=8-15) and something to expand the sleeping area to the front seats (like a wooden board), and then just using a Rooftop bag for storage. Considering making some plans for wooden planks simply to level out the sleeping setup.
Malone Paddle Holders….but tbh I think there are better solutions. It works best with multiple rods. I also use a piece of pool noodle to secure the top of the rods and also protect my line when I tighten the straps
Get yourself a kit like this from Amazon. We have 4 Subaru's and a kit that my son bought has come in handy for a multitude of minor repairs.
This console protector has worked very well with our German Shepherd, in case you want one. Very, very economical.
I got these types of covers from Amazon to cover both our Crosstrek and Forester since we have a Black Lab that likes to stand on the armrest.
Got them from Amazon! only complaint is we had to buy different straps because the provided ones were too short!
Possibly slap on a push light this: LINK. I might do something like this for my 2013
Not sure of the difference in size, but this one fits perfectly into my 2021.

the exact dimensions are 64"x39"x6" I went with a cheaper amazon one Leader Accessories. Used black silicone and some rust oleum bed lining paint to prevent rust.
I recommend getting one that has both a battery and 12v cord just in case. I've been in a frustrating situation where I deflated my tires on a overland trip but when it was over and time to return to pavement my battery decided to die. Had to wave down another offroader to jump me off so I could air up the tires. I then invested in a air compressor with battery and a rechargeable battery jumper.
I got this thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08X6PR2NN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works fine, seems very sturdy (and Im a big dude). However Im also tall, and so even loading my roof basket, didn't really need it. I actually find just standing on the sill plate of the bar door I can basically access the whole roof. But sometimes I still use the step. Pricey for what it is, but at least feels safe.
Rechargeable and the battery lasted from when I turned it on at about 730pm until I woke up at 530am the next morning on setting 3 before I was dozing off when I set it to 2 for while I slept.
I use the Rola V-Tex basket. It's big enough for gear (We also have two sizable dogs) during road trips as long as that gear is in water proof cases. It's tubing is beefy and can easily handle an awning. I will admit that it's not quiet. It produces noticeable wind noise but I had it on my Jeep Grand Cherokee first and now the Forester for a total of five years. On the Forester I mounted it as far back as I could and leveled it so that helps.
Crossbars are stock on the car, the basket is Leader accessories 64x38x5 rack (put the Amazon link below), and the lights are NiLight spotlights with the NiLight wire harness. Also NiLight bar mounts to mount onto the basket

That won't load on my phone for some reason, but I got the 4200 NEX. I also spent $10 or 15 on Amazon to get the microphone that goes with it, to calibrate the sound for your car and preferred listening center. Sounds like a gimmick but it worked amazingly well.

I got the cheapo Motor Trend ones off of amazon. They're cheaply made and the back strap broke already on mine, but a few minutes stitching it back up it works fine. I like that they're waterproof so if I spill a drink or am all sweaty when I get in my car it won't seep into the fabric. They're not the best, and they're a little baggy on the Forester seats, but they work fine.

I just got some generic mat off of amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073F2NG37/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and used a razor to cut it to fit into the space between the head unit and upper LCD display. Haven't had any issues with it interfering with eyesight or glare, it's a flat black mat. Plastic staining didn't even cross my mind, I guess ill have to lift the mat up and check to make sure everything is kosher every so often...
I'm using this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R2K4LCY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's suction cup, but so far it has rarely fallen off and the ballhead is good. I've gone offroading with it without issues. I bought it because it's a magnetic mount (no fiddling when putting the phone in it).
Getting a good location in the Forester is complicated, it's almost like they didn't want you to have your phone at hand.
I have a 126w Nilight mounted on my 2004 and I'm pretty happy with it. I have mine mounted on the license plate, but having driven across the country with it I feel that mounting higher is for sure the way to go.
I tried going the portable route and the two I've had just lacked power. Ended up buying a Bissell Zing that has now serves perfectly, reaches everything and cleans out the floor/seats. If you need a shop vac there are plenty of options for those. I use the Zing after trips to the dog parks, hiking trips especially, love it and wish I got one before...

If you get the Aero bars get them on Amazon for $79 not through subaru, was actually told that by the parts department manager lol. Have them on our 2020, perfectly silent and they are the exact same as the ones you would get from subaru. Also if you plan on getting a rooftop tent just go with the Thule if it can support thhe weight as the Aero bars won't. I don't want a rtt so it's no biggie for us.

I don't know about your new-fangled screen voodoo, but in my older model I just got a bluetooth OBDII thingie like this and Torque on my phone. MPG precision doesn't make sense for another decimal place but you shouldn't be limited by the number of digits available; you may be able to read above 99.9 (not that you'll need it). You can also read interesting data like timing advance, intake air and coolant temperature, various voltages, whatever the ECU reports.

Fluid extractor is worth every penny. With the filter being on the top of the engine I don't need to put the car up on ramps or crawl around on the ground anymore.
I asked a similar question last week or prior. You're getting the same answers I did.
My headlights were fogged up, and for starters one of things I felt needed to be done was have the lens sanded and cleaned. If you want to do it yourself, you can find kits online, or take it to a shop.
Here are some LED bulbs I bought for my fog lights. The bulbs in my fog lights are constantly burning out, maybe last 2-3 years tops. I'm going to have the mechanic put them in when I bring my Forester in for state inspection.
As these are the same size bulbs as the reverse and license plate bulbs and a few other random exterior and interior lights, these are the ones and they’re great, but yeah, the color won’t match your headlights.

For the regular map lights, under-door lights, cargo area light, etc., I haven't found any reason to use the CANBUS bulbs. I went with the cheap ones. They've worked just fine, no errors.
I've used these in the cargo area and a couple other places, and these were a drop-in replacement for the vanity/mirror lights.
I have one of these in my 21 and it has been working great. Just finished a 6400km road trip and it didn't disconnect or refuse to connect even once on the whole trip. I paired it with a wireless charging mat so it is now fully wireless.
The dealer is probably the safest to make its nothing serious. But if you are interested, there are several versions of the below Steering Dampener Lockdown kits for under $100. Basicaly there is a small about of wiggle allowed so if you accidentally twitch the wheel, your steering doesn’t immediately jerk to one side (a default deadzone, if you will). You can eliminate this deadzone by inserting and bolting down these hard rubber pieces that stop it from being able to wiggle at all. steering dampener lockdown example
I have a 2019 and that piece was missing when I bought it. I purchased this piece. It fits, but doesn't stay put like it should. Seems like it maybe poor design from Subaru.
Which is yours and their business. Ignore all the seatbelt nazis on here.
The rear chime can’t be disabled, so you need these:

Useful for when you have cargo or a pet activating the weight sensor and setting off the chime as well.
I just replaced mine last weekend with one off Amazon for like $18, the FRAM one would work too.
I got these ones for the back up!
The license plate bulbs and the puddle light bulbs are the same, but I forgot which brand mine were lol

I screwed the base of the old school GPS mount directly into the top plastic dash. I figured that the GPS would be there for the life of the car, haha. The phone mount it not a universal vent clip, those kinda suck. This one has a specially shaped piece of plastic that slips and clips behind the outside of the vent. It is a really great design. Difficult to install, but it is super secure and still removable. It has sold out on Amazon, but you can probably find it elsewhere. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09K7C48ZB
