>Or just ding it. Not the end of the world.
Yep. This shit is silly.
Pro-tip: The little file on a mini swiss army knife like this is perfect for filing down dings so they don't cut your hand. Put one in your yo-yo bag. They're cheap and good yo-yo tools.
Hey, this is cool, I didn't realise Tuesday was where it all went down. :D
I don't know what the etiquette is when it comes to posting Trickcircles that weren't actually filmed today, so I apologise considering this one is 5 days old, but it's the most recent one I have, and I'm using a Terrarian which we know everyone here loves, so... here we go
Sorry if that's poor form guys, I'm still learning how things work around here. :)
Hooray for #trickcircle!
I'm a little overdue on a new trickcircle myself, but feel free to check out some of my older ones if you're interested:
https://www.instagram.com/gambit_throws/
I'm working on a couple of new things at the moment (trying to involve some grinds) so I hope to get a new one out soon-ish. In the meantime I'd love to see what other people have come up with, I always enjoy seeing other styles. :)
I haven't uploaded a trick for ages so here's a little something something https://www.instagram.com/p/-MC_6ljXZm
Iv got some new tricks I need to record. A few combos for a new youtube vid. And I might even make some tutorials.
$90 throw? That is misleading. You can get them way cheaper than that any day of the week.
YoTricks for $35 https://yoyotricks.com/shop/yoyo-store/yoyo-brands/yomega-yoyos/glide-yoyo/
or Amazon for $36 https://www.amazon.com/Yomega-Glide-YoYo-Colors-Vary/dp/B00B9U8ZZM
I got this listing off of amazon. It came in this package with white string.
Reddit Enhancement Suite does the same thing and also has a whole lot of other great features! You do have to click on a button to open it but you can resize the photo as well.
The purple one in the video was part of our proposal, but that will probably change in the final approval. The Unicode committee might still make changes to it somehow (updated name, artwork, etc), but then each tech company will have it's own version of emoji. So some might be green, or red, or look totally different than the original. As an example, check out all the different versions of the Pistol emoji https://emojipedia.org/pistol/ It's pretty much up to each company to pick which color they want to use. I'm looking forward to seeing all the variations though.
I recommend getting an extension cord, and hanging the light on your ceiling, above you if possible, for the most optimal lighting.
I would recommend an N12 for a yoyo on Amazon, 18 dollars is a much cheaper investment for a hobby you might end up not liking. It's also the yoyo with possibly the best price/performance ratio so there's that.
Some DV888s come unresponsive out of the box.
If you own a responsive DV888, you will need a size C bearing, a longer axle and the correct response pads.
I strap my phone to my head using this ridiculous head-mount thing I found on Amazon. It has an adjustable angle so I can get the right shot. Its not something I would wear out in public, but it gets the job done.
I got them off amazon. They came from China and I must have gotten the last ones from that vendor since I tried buying more to expand it and it says currently unavailable. Here is the link, maybe someone can fine where else they can be purchased in that size.
Tea chests work really well. Here's a cool one.
Me and a friend are trying to yoyo as much as possible every day for 30 days, and see how it goes.
Here is todays video.
I consider myself a beginner, but I am stuck right in between the advanced tricks (as listed on yoyoexpert).
Either way so far this experiment has been a blast, and it's only day 4!
Magic yoyo sells 20packs of strings on Amazon for 7 bucks. I havent bought them yet but I would assume that is what came with the skyva, just different colors.
EDIT: adding link for the strings. https://www.amazon.com/MAGICYOYO-yoyo-Strings-100-Polyester/dp/B016OICAIQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486311432&sr=8-1&keywords=Magic+yoyo+string
A lot of MYY stuff is on Amazon.
Node
N12
maybe something like a bi-metal superstar? https://www.amazon.com/YoYoFactory-Superstar-BiMetal-Unresponsive-Yoyo/dp/B01EVYCHIS/ref=sr_1_19_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1517685302&sr=8-19-spons&keywords=yoyo+factory&psc=1&smid=A359FRPUDHZHMV
How snugly do the smaller yos fit?
Would they slip out if they were in the top portion of the case?
Also, where did you purchase this and how much did it cost you? I'm thinking I might need one of these cases before too long too. There's one on AMAZON for $35 with free (prime) shipping right now that is damn tempting!
this is made by same developers as the one I use. I imagine you already tried it out though since you said you tried three. But just in case
You wouldn't be able to see this page if it weren't out on Android. If you can't see that page and download it, definitely let me know. It might not come up when you search the name yet though.
It's the most basic of the hooks, but I managed to land it for the first time ever. I actually gave up learning this a while ago and just tried it again as part of the challenge and hit it on my second try such which felt pretty awesome (couple that with learning Mach Whip Laceration and you could say I've had a productive night).
I have Neon Kitty (yellow/green/red/blue/orange) 100 pack. Three of the colors glow, 2 don't. Blue and red do not glow in the black light.
https://instagram.com/p/0RZs1ZjlMg/?taken-by=brendanwelsh This was with orange. Yellow looks a bit better/brighter. The quality of instagram also dampens the color quite a bit. Looks way brighter normally.
This video is the coolest blacklight video I've seen to date: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-JEWTcYEcE
He has glowing caps which makes it even more wicked.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/repeater
repeater : noun meaning "one that repeats."
A trick that starts and ends in the same place. Matrix starts as a DoN and ends in a position that lets you get into a DoN. Shockwave is also a repeater.
You're going to need one of these
I've somewhat liquidated my collection. Kept my leviathan, konig, checkmate, protostar, irony jp, and tirade.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesparhawk
You can get an idea of the number of throws I've gone through there.
I've been knocking around the asalato a bunch lately. It's a crossover between skill toy and musical instrument. Just starting to get the basic beats.
I've also been working with Monkey Knuckles too. It seems I'm in a phase of stringed toys these days. :)
A list of the toys that I keep in regular rotation can be found here: https://vimeo.com/91484461
Magic yoyo k7 comes with a slim bearing, and I heard it is a good throw.
N12 with cooler splashes for 11
Nothing else really caught my eye, post if you guys find anything! A lot of these deals are misleading, you can find N12s normally for 8 bucks anyway, that 45% off to get it to 8 is definitely sus.
My 1 year combo was less impressive than that. https://www.instagram.com/p/2hPO1Agyct/
But thanks! glad you like the tuts. My motto should be "I take a year to learn the basics so you don't have to!"
I recommend looking up some color theory. Good general information to know. Orange, Purple, and Teal are a Complimentary Triad, and thus go great together. It's not that uncommon of a color scheme.
I throw with my left hand and have no problems. You can use this site to flip videos: http://deturl.com/mirror-flip.asp?v=
The Fast 201 will be good for starting out, but it's one of the few yoyos that you'll actually outgrow.
Them being right next to each other is exactly why they clash. Complementary colors are opposite of each other on the wheel. The fade looks okay because it isn't contrasting, buy an overlay would clash.

Hands down, the best string pick you'll ever find:
Boye Plastic Yarn Sewing Needle Set, 2pc https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K7D2RS9/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8M82XKAM8NR4M99DATXN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
https://yoyonews.com/contest-clubs/
Talk to guys running these. If going strong, get yourself on the map too.
It’s super random... I have no idea what this listing is talking about lol I just thought the picture looked nice Harger Professional Unresponsive... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QYPWVYT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
To be fair, responsive play is good at tightening up play if you're sloppy, but starting off unresponsive is perfectly fine.
If you just have to have responsive though, the Replay (not replay pro as that's unresponsive) is probably your best bet. There isn't a lot of quality in responsive throws and the replay is probably the best in that price range.
That said, the DV888 is probably the best responsive metal you'll find.
For unresponsive I'd also suggest the Magic Yoyo Purple Line and the Magic Yoyo N5 Desperado. Both are available with prime shipping, the former is a more standard yoyo shape, the latter is extreme in it's shape.
Side note, avoid yoyo king on amazon. Decided to take the plunge and get one just to see if it was as bad as I expected it to be, it was.
It really depends on your budget. You were asking about getting a One Drop and you're looking at spending at lease $50 there. At that price point there might be quite a lot to suggest. In the lower price range and available at Amazon, the N12 is a popular choice. It's not got the two types of bearing -- this is just unresponsive, so you have to learn to bind -- but it's only $20, and from my perspective learning to bind is part of the fun.
Authentic MAGICYOYO N12 Shark Honor Yo-yos with Bag+ 5 Strings + Glove for Gift Toy, Aluminum (Red with Golden) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LPMBAIM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SERHybBBVRQMC
Hey, I know this one! Using a straight pin to deshield is a gigantic pain. Instead, head over to Amazon and spend $7 on a set of dental tools. The hygiene tools have a narrow profile that fits perfectly underneath the lip of the bearing and it is hooked so that it's really easy to grab the rings and pop them out!
Totally worth a few bucks.
^ this. You don’t even need something that’s specifically marketed for yo-yos like MonkeySnot. You can just get some generic flowable silicone off Amazon or at a hardware store. Dylan Kowalski has a good video about it.
Permatex 81160 High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket, 3 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002UEN1A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_t59tAb8VR4X21
Say no more... this is simply the best I can recommend, is affordable, is plastic and safer than getting hit with a metal yoyo, AND comes with a beginner and professional ball bearing.
https://www.amazon.com/MAGICYOYO-Responsive-Plastic-Fingerspin-Beginners/dp/B092J1BFK9
No huge difference. Some people sometimes tag IG posts with both. My thing is that if you use #trickcircle on Instagram, then everyone sees it, like pros use it, and stuff. To me it is very intimidating to have my inanities on the same page as Yuuki, Riccardo, and Pali https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/trickcircle/ . Threehalvesmount is something that a few of us came up with here on reddit as a beginner friendly sort of thing. Also Trickcircle focuses on original content, and we don't have have to worry about there here.
As for the trick circle thread on reddit. It's more or less the same, but a little more focused on sharing your progress rather than general discussion.
Indeed Alif3 - the one JT is throwing is a different prototype. I have a feeling that it is the next throw in the pipeline after the Vanguard, seeing as how its starting to pop up in other pictures. Take this one, for example, which was just uploaded a week ago.
Of course, JT can often be spotted throwing teasers, like in this pic here from a couple weeks ago. Do you think this is the same as the other one? Or could it be yet another prototype?
At that age, it's questionable whether they will stick with it. Having said that, you certainly want to provide your daughter with a positive experience. After all, Ann Connolly and Betty Gallegos are female yoyo players! Anyway, I recommend this! I know she will love it, plus it comes with a responsive AND unresponsive bearing for when she learns how to bind! It's a great deal and you're not losing much money in case she loses interest! https://www.amazon.com/MAGICYOYO-Responsive-Plastic-Fingerspin-Beginners/dp/B092J1BFK9
like /u/ugdave said, you got some options. some buy sample packs of a few different string brands. others will buy a 100 pack of something and be good for a while, only potential downside being if you don't like the string. i'd err on the side of samples of what you can get off of yoyosam's amazon storefront like sochi, knot bad, monkeyfinger vines, etc. if you can find something you like from that then you can always get a 100 pack later.
from a pure value standpoint and consistent string for an amazon buyer, i think C3's string is perfectly good string, i've used it on occasion. My go-to would be TopYo poly in solid yellow because of the value, thickness, and comfort but that's not on their amazon storefront and out of stock on their regular store. Only the pink is available and the pink can be a bit rough texture wise for brand new players. Their pro string in the pink and white twist is on there but again, gonna face some of that rough texture.
Beginner yoyo (responsive and unresponsive): K2 Crystal
Better yo-yo (unresponsive): Y01 Node
I would suggest the Freehand One. It's a modernized version of an old school classic. It's responsive but plays really well.
I think it'd be great for someone wanting to cash in on nostalgia. You'll be able to go up and down and rock some cradles and what not. Plus it's got what we refer to as an organic shape (This is modeled after like, the OG organic shaped yoyo), so it's nice and comfortable in the hand.
Available on Amazon, comes in on budget, and like I said. It hits the nostalgia button right in the kisser. If you have fun but don't really go on any further, it probably won't make you mad when you find it in your junk drawer in six months. If you do end up getting really into the hobby it's a great stepping stone to learn basic tricks on and then you can always come back and we'll give you good recs for the upgrade.
I made a yoyo and skill toy coloring book!

Hey, that's me!
It's not necessarily like Yonomicon though. That book is a "How to yoyo" whereas mine is a "Why we yoyo"
There are books out there, but not really what you are looking for, as video does the job so much better.
Definitely the MagicYoyo V6 Locus. It is a very high end metal responsive yoyo for a cheap price. All my friends have it and mine is on it's way in the mail. I have tried theirs and it is very smooth.
I recommend the MAGICYOYO V6 Locus for your next one. It is a very nice responsive yoyo, but if you want unresponsive go for the MAGICYOYO N11.
This one should be good right ?
Yoyoexpert has the same videos as ehow, but organized. Yoyoexpert is ran by the guy who made the videos you are talking about, Andre Boulay. That's where I learn most of my tricks, or at least where I start. If I can't figure out the trick with Andre's video I'll youtube around for others. I also have a couple of trick DvDs which I check out once in a while.
You should check this compilation out: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3apiUEHvulCYjE4OTE3NzctMDVjZC00M2NlLWJhZDUtOWNjZGZmN2NjOTEy
It includes tutorials from several sources. You can find a thread on it here. http://yoyoexpert.com/forums/index.php?topic=37618.0
Sorry for all the posts lol...I've just been browsing and noticed that you can still pick up the Duncan Pro-Yo on Amazon as well! They use to sell them at Walmart and Target.
And I LOVE this yoyo so much for the price! It is such an incredible value for what you get and for everything it does! They're less than $11!
https://www.amazon.com/Duncan-Shape-Changing-Yo-Yo-Green/dp/B083H9CBFG?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
It's a really cool yoyo...you said you liked your nephew's Duncan Pulse...the shape and feel of it...well the really neat thing about the Duncan ProYo is it transform into 2 shapes. The first shape is the same shape as the Pulse...but then if you ever do get an itch to try more tricks out, it also comes with little plastic spacers that can convert it into a wider shape that makes it easier to land on strings.
It is a super fun yoyo and would be great for just being a basic yoyo for you...but then if you ever decide to try some tricks out, it gives you everything you need without further purchases!
But if it looks like it's a little more than you're looking for right now...with the spacers and extra bearing and everything...that's totally okay too and I still highly recommend the Butterfly XT!
Oh was just checking and you can get the Butterfly XT on Amazon with Prime shipping as well.
They're just $5 but you wont be able to choose the color which sucks. They do give you the choice to choose a color but the price jumps up to $8-$9.
Over that one I would recommend this for just a few euros more. The one you linked would technically work, but I think this one would take you further and has accessories that will be helpful.
do you think that this would be good?:https://www.amazon.de/Yoyo-Yoyofactory-Beginner-Fortgeschrittene-Schwarz/dp/B0070XFIQG/ref=sr_1_16?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=9XBTCXLS6ILF&keywords=duncan%2Bbutterfly%2Byoyo&qid=1653680615&refinements=p_72%3A184746031&rnid=184724031&s=toys&sprefix=duncan%2B%2Ctoys%2C85&sr=1-16&th=1
K2 is better but unless you're super dead set on yellow, you can do better still. My vote would be the Magicyoyo N12, that's what I learned on initially and even though it's dirt cheap, I'm still going back to it sometimes. It's reliable, stable, and cheap enough that you don't have to worry about banging it up. I know I sound like a shill but it really is so good for a beginner yoyo. They don't have yellow though.
Good luck starting out!
Like others said unscrew it or pick it. I use a pair of curved forceps, often just hooking the string and pulling is enough and you don’t even need to grab it.
Scientific Labwares Stainless Steel General Purpose Lab Forceps with Curved Medium Point Tips, 4.75 in. Length https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V5ML63H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NADVYFFJHM9MAE08YWEA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s not research but there are some really visceral stories about yoyoing and mental health in a chapter from this book you may enjoy reading.

This one, magic yoyo Y03 hertz. Unfortunately for Canada most sites will cost 20$ usd alone, if you go through ups or FedEx they will cost you an extra 44$ on top of that for customs.
I'd say support a yoyo shop, but their are none for Canadians, so amazon it is.
This yoyo however is a very good unresponsive, it's one of my go to throws, and I've got alot of yoyo's more expensive than this one. It will do everything you need. One thing I'd purchase on the side is their bearing removal tool, which comes with extra bearings, the bearings it comes with are actually faster than the ones that come with the yoyo. (10 ball vs 8) that pack is another 15$ cad on amazon.

Great starter comes with a few strings and tools to switch the bearing once you wanna switch to unresponsive. And pink.
The Magic YoYo V3 is $16.99 right now on Amazon. Comes with a responsive and unresponsive bearing, 5 strings, and a bearing removal tool.

If you can wait for the shipping, The Auldey Orbis is the best budget metal yoyo around. Bargain of the century. The Fierce Beacon is the bi-metal bargain of the century.
Otherwise I'd say the Vosun Vanquish which is a nice general size and shape yoyo. Really stable, feels really nice.
The n12 is great, but considering how an Orbis is only marginally more, it's a no brainer.
https://www.aliexpress.com/ here is free shipping but it has limited choise, still you can get some very nice yoyos from there. If you want something else I think that the shipping prices will start from 9€ or maybe cheaper if you happen to find a store in your country.
I have a G2 Pelican and Big Boi for sale if you have any interest in them.
Caribbean Pelican is the blue on blue swirl, correct? If so, I have one for sale
It's gonna be tough to find anything "good" for $5 or less. If you have a Target near you, you might be able to find a Duncan Butterfly XT, those are $4.99. As far as Amazon goes, maybe a K2 Crystal or something
MAGICYOYO K2 Plus Crystal Responsive Yoyo for Kids, Dual Purpose Plastic Yo-yo for Beginner, Replacement Unresponsive Bearing for Intermediate, with Bearing Remover, Bag, 5 Yoyo Strings (Green) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J72SDMZ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_1C4RSY8ATRFPS4H4C7J5
But that's $12.99
Take a look at the Sage or Oracle at Yoyotricks.com, the sage is a good beginner yoyo with the potential to upgrade to unresponsive later on.
https://yoyotricks.com/shop/the-sage-yoyo/
The Fizz is a decent beginner yoyo for around $10, but I'd say it's probably just a more solid Butterfly XT.
YoYoFactory Arrow Elite - £13 on Amazon.co.uk
Comes with a second bearing to make it unresponsive
Just given mine a throw there and it spins for a good 15 seconds with the responsive bearing and is still retrievable.
I’ve added a link to the Amazon listing to my original post but here it is again.
For starters what region do you live in because that can change cost and availability? You shouldn't spend more then $30 on a first unresponsive because it will get beat up while you learn. I wouldn't suggest the shutter it's over priced for a starter and it's on the heavy side.
The Y03 Hertz is a common starter you can get on Amazon.

If you live in the US then the Arcade B-grade is still the best deal in my opinion.
Good comfortable yoyo with an excellent thumb grind lip and decent finger spin capability for the tik-tok crowd.
That depends on where you live but probably getting something online is the only way to get anything better for most people. Here is a decent combination yoyo that will let you do all of the first 50 tricks on the trick ladder.

I picked up some rosin to combat this once upon a time. I rarely have the problem anymore, but if you do you could try this. Just rub you string where the loop is on the rosin block. $8 on amazon.

Will sell the leviathan, Konig, and Checkmate (yoyomonster not yoyofactory) for $150
They would retail for $430 new but the checkmate has the scratch and the konig has an ano rub. The leviathan is an unreleased hardcoat version that never got produced due to vibe. Still very playable. Would also sell the konig and checkmate for $100.
Selling a bunch of G2 throws, all Mint unless otherwise stated.
Selling a variety of throws that don't get enough attention. All throws are Near Mint or better unless otherwise stated. $5 shipping in US, each additional purchase gets $5 off. More than happy to send close-ups and details, open to offers!
I'm open to trades, mainly interested in interesting organics, but priority is to downsize my collection. For G2 throws, I can include G2 koozies on request.

Here ya go. There's also another 2 pack with a K1 and a metal yoyo, both with hubstacks that aren't half bad either. I much prefer the Crystal myself though.
Awesome thanks! I found that as I kept looking. That and the non-crystal looking version. I think they are the same?

I know the Maverick is a terrible yoyo probably the Raider is too. Yomega was is an old company that has failed to innovate.
Try this first:
From looking at the pics. Your colourway and the solid one have a narrow bearing, but this one looks to definitely come with a proper size c bearing. Looks unresponsive.
m002 April for $16 Just bought it.
That's the best price on just the black/tan/teal. the other two splashes are cheaper:
Seriously, you can't really go wrong with a $40 bimetal even if it isn't as good as Draupnir. You can also get YYF Nightmares from BST rather cheap.
Wow. You have some cool design. How long have been into this stuff?
Btw, check out my first ever t-shirt design. Still learning and hope it will sell 😅😅

<strong>ALL THE THINGS!!!</strong>
Edit: I just did a google image search for "guy with yoyo"... Well actually I ended up typing in "guy with yoo". Not too disappointed with the top image.
I've been seeing people post about finger discomfort so I thought I'd post this link. This is what I purchased, there may be better options but I'll just leave this here as a starting point for someone who might need it.
(8 Pack) Pro Finger Tape for BJJ, Bouldering, Crossfit | Ultimate Protection & Fast Recovery | Extreme Quality, No-Fray Climbing Tape | Extended Wear, Super Strong Adhesive | BJJ Tape for Hands https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNBQVXR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_D06ZKSS8XWXFE6VH7WX8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have been using this for months on and off, I have yet to go through 1 roll. I'm down to maybe 1/3 of the first roll. In colder weather my hands get very dry and crack. I've had string burn on my non-throw hand and my throw hand to the point where I start to bleed. Right now I currently have a gash right around the finger loop area on my throw hand finger from the loop rubbing and pulling on the dry skin. It looks pretty bad like a open knife cut. What I usually do is put a hydrocolloid bandage ( which I cut to size because they are expensive) over the wound and then a cheap fabric bandaid over that and then I will wrap that with the finger tape if I want to protect it from the yoyo string. Or if it's just a simple string burn or something I'll just use some of the tape, but I don't need to do that as often anymore. I imagine now that it's cold out I'll probably go through a lot more of the tape until it's warm out.
This is also an ok substitute for yoyo gloves if you don't want to use those.
Have fun throwing and don't forget to moisturize!
