Someone already mentioned YouTube centre, but I'm also go and throw out the Magic Actions extension (that's a link for Chrome, their site has links for FF and Opera check the bottom of this comment). Auto HD, Auto block video ads, cinema mode, auto large screen, auto full screen, control volume via your scroll wheel, auto hide comments. It's packed full of features. Highly recommend for anyone who finds themselves using YouTube a lot.
I should add that I don't work on the extension or anything (read my comment back and I sound like a godamn salesman) I just use it so often I can't recommend it enough.
I highly recommend Magic Actions For YouTube.
It has a whole bunch of options like setting the exact quality you always want to load, cinema mode, force flash or html5 player, options to turn off some of the features (comments, suggested videos), an ad blocker, a control bar with a bunch of options under every video, etc.
And it's free, of course, and the dev always replies to my feedback emails.
I'm simply using MagicActions for Youtube to switch it to night mode :3
I don't know why, I just prefer dark pages over bright white ones. Doesn't hurt your eyes that much.
This is a great extension for Youtube. It allows you to stop autoplay on videos and also has a loop feature built into it. Made my Youtube experience a whole lot better.
I also really want you to set up Magic Actions for YouTube for him. It has a shitload of useful tools for regular youtube use. It's compatible with adblock and the three big name browsers (FF, Chrome, Opera). I Highly^highly recommend it.
I can highly recomend the "Magic Actions for Youtube" extension for you. It gives you so many cool options for Youtube and even a light-switch in the top left corner of the screen next to the youtube-logo! (Available for Chrome, Firefox and Opera atm). Check it out: http://www.chromeactions.com/
I'm not sure if this extension has been bought out, but Magic Actions for Youtube has been working excellently for me. It has many options, "preview ratings" being one of them.
There are a couple Chrome extensions that bypass that and also have features like "auto 720p/1080p/360p" so that you don't have to make the effort. Its pretty helpful
edit: I use <strong>this one</strong>. I know it looks very spammy/cheesy but it was recommended on reddit elsewhere and has been perfect for me. They have a bunch of random features if that interests you but I only use the two I mentioned above: buffer while paused and auto play at 720p.
edit 2: The link above is to the google chrome extension page. Here is a link to their main website in case you have another browser. It works on Mozilla and Opera as well. http://www.chromeactions.com/
Magic Actions for Youtube. It's an extension that allows you to modify the player window, enables preloading, and allows scroll wheel to change the volume on a video. Theres some other cool stuff, but those are the primary goodies that it gives me. What he did there is click to the left of the video which hides all other elements. I tend to use right click next to video as it makes it fullscreen, but still in the browser window.
Brooooooooo, use Magic Actions for YouTube. Works on Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. Check it out! http://www.chromeactions.com/
It makes YouTube a lot like how it used to be. Buffering is back, auto-HD (you can set it to play only 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K, whatever) and it won't play in anything but the HD resolution you choose or the next nearest one down. It's great!
Same problem here. Something in the past few hours broke the HTML5 player, and YouTube disabled the flash option entirely...
The only thing I've been able to do about it is use Magic Actions to force it to use the flash player.
Hey, sorry for the late reply!
The extension I use is called Magic Actions for Youtube, and it's available for both Firefox and Chrome.
To change the background however, you need to go into the extension options to manually enable the Day/Night feature. That can be found here at the bottom.
Once that's enabled, a light switch icon will appear in the top corner of your Youtube page. Clicking that will toggle the background between light and dark. :)
Hope this helps!
Semi-solution:
Full solution:
Here's a great extension (chrome/firefox) that supports this.
Edit: I didn't provide a link apparently. Sorry about that. You can also enroll into the new youtube player and that player automatically remembers your preferences.
Go here http://www.chromeactions.com/magic-options.html
and then scroll down until you find hide page elements. Click on the checkbox and that will expand the menu. Just choose the element you want to hide (related videos, in this instance.)
To remove the extension, go here "about:addons" without the quotes or http://www
click extensions and remove it.
We don't upload a 30 FPS version, but there might be a way to troubleshoot your issue (if you're a Chrome user, try this link). If that doesn't work, there are extensions like MagicActions which will allow you to force Flash instead of HTML5, which will automatically limit the FPS to 30.
Youtube now sends HTML5 video by default instead of Flash.
I'm guessing there is an addon around that can do what you want.
(I saw someone recommend Magic Actions but I've not tried it and it's also not reviewed by Mozilla as far as I can tell.)
Magic Actions for Youtube has a Stop Autoplay function which prevents videos from automatically starting. You need to click the play button to start them.
I'm not sure if it works with the latest FF though as I'm using the ESR version.
Yeah I've started having issues with YoutubeCenter recently. My workaround is going to the uploader's page and launching the video from there.
The REAL solution is uninstalling YoutubeCenter, and installing Magic Actions for Youtube http://www.chromeactions.com/ which actually is kept up-to-date and supports Firefox.
Just toggle the "Speedbooster" option.
There is an addon for your browser that you can get called Magic Actions for Youtube for Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. You can set the default resolution, set it to actually fully buffer (despite what the Youtube player wants), turn off auto-play, and setup a "Cinematic Mode" (last one not being very useful) as well as force a certain type of player, be it HTML5 or Flash.
I use it and it allows you to choose your resolution. The feature is not on by default, you have to look for the autoHD setting. You can turn it on and choose from any standard SD or HD setting.
I used to use YouTube Center but the no 1080p thing kinda irked me after a while (that and it started making YouTube bug out often).
I use Magic Actions now and it's a lot better IMO. Full 1080p support, turn out the lights, they have a cinema mode, you can choose what platform the video loads as (HTML5, Flash), it's really simple and clean.
I understand YouTube Center has similar features but in terms of navigating the settings, no bugging out and simplicity, Magic Actions wins in my book.
I use Magic Youtube Actions
Youtube has this thing it likes to do where it stops buffering for no reason, or when you pause. This stops that. It's got other things as well.
Like electrolytes. It's what plants need.
The extension "Magic Actions for YouTube" has an option to disable autoplay, among many other options (Automatic wide-screen, automatic HD, hide annotations and it can improve pre-loading/buffering as well)
If you download the extension 'Magic Actions for Youtube' it fixes basically everything that's screwed with the YouTube video player, you can set it to start every video at 1080p and widescreen view instantly and there's no stutters. Best Chrome extension I've downloaded other then AdBlock. Magic Actions for YouTube
I like MagicActions and Chrome YouTube Downloader as well as the previously mentioned AdBlockPlus.
Magic Actions has a similar feature called "Cinema Mode" that has a type of full screen that only fills the available window and darkens the screen around the video to "help" focus around the video
http://www.chromeactions.com/magic-actions-for-youtube-cinema.html
I use a Mac, so when I'm in Cinema Mode and I two finger click it does that special full screen I mentioned.
Sorry for the long-winded and potentially confusing reply.
ah yes. I forget others don't have magic actions installed. Theres a simple right click A-B repeat function (from the current play position to where you right click on the timeline.)
If I enable Adblock Plus or uBlock Origin on Youtube, every video which would have an ad will just display "An error has occurred" for me now.
The only thing that still works for me is the adblocker in Magic Actions.
Magic Actions for YouTube
I actually find that I've stopped using fullscreen now that I have that color surround. It usually does a great job of following the action. It gets confused sometimes, like Minecraft videos tend to have more green than really needed.
It does a lot more than just the color.
I use the MagicActions extension in Chrome (also has Firefox and Opera availaibility) to disable autoplay - it won't automute volume, but it gives you a chance to change the volume before the video plays, among loads of other features.
There are few versions for flash restore https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-video-player/reviews/?src=api
or
http://www.chromeactions.com/ I use second one, as it also blocks ads on youtube and other stuff.
For me issue is that html5 simply does not provide stereo upmix on my 5.1 System. Not acceptable.
> t of the plans have unlimited (which costs 30$ more in Ontario). My assumption is the gigabit will become the bragging tier aka the current 450mb that no one buys or can afford.
Me too, I hate youtube not buffering the whole video clip. If you download "Magic Actions" addon for your browser and turn on "Speed Booster" it should allow you to play 1080p right away as it never stops buffering.
here is a clicky http://www.chromeactions.com
I use a plugin for Chrome (that can apparently work for Firefox and Opera too) called Magic Actions for YouTube. It allows you to click a button for looping as well as other tweaks to the website like a night mode and making the video load at specific resolutions by default. I'd give it a check if you use any of those browsers c:
"Magic Actions is an extension that changes the way you’ll watch videos on YouTube."
"The beauty of this process is that the Magic Actions browser extension does all the work for you. By selecting the Auto HD feature, the browser extension will then ensure that any new videos that are played will be instantly set to your selected high-definition level. This could be anywhere from 240P to full HD at 1080P and above. Another huge benefit is that it works with flash and HTML5 video players on YouTube natively."
http://www.chromeactions.com/magic-actions-for-youtube-autohd.html
Chrome / Firefox / Opera:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/magic-actions-for-youtube/abjcfabbhafbcdfjoecdgepllmpfceif
Use Magic Actions for YouTube if this is not resolved. I've been using it for years, and it has all of those features you mentioned, like different video player sizes, dark theme, default video resolution, it can block annotations, allow you to use the mouse wheel to change volume... It's pretty good.
Try Magic Actions for YouTube addon. You can stop autoplay, can set the codec, I think avc offers best quality to bandwidth ratio. You can also set the resolution, and later it won't change unless you manually change it for every video you watch. And it also blocks ads so you won't have to waste any bandwidth on ads. And to stop loading the video all together, I guess you can try setting the player type to flash and use Flashblock to block it from loading at all.
thats ok, i had a friend who had like 10 different youtube add ons for firefox so i uninstalled them and had them all replaced with this one add on which has plenty of features (each feature can be enabled or disabled individually on the settings page) and works on firefox, chrome, and opera
Have you tried addons like MagicActions or YoutubeCenter and enabled forced buffering?
I had similar problems a while back and MA speed bump solved it for me.
I would recommend forcing HTML5 with: Magic Actions for YouTube - http://www.chromeactions.com/
or if that's too loud then Youtube Center - https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/wiki
Both have fantastic features which really are essential to me when browsing YouTube similar to RES for Reddit.
I use a chrome extension. I use magic actions for youtube. It can also disable autoplay, helpful when loading video links in a new tab or loading multiple videos in multiple tabs.
So it looks like http://www.chromeactions.com/ also supports Firefox. I've been using YoutubeCenter for quite a while, but Magic Actions is kept up to date and provides much of the same functionality, most importantly for me, full video buffering!
The purpose of disabling DASH is to allow the video to fully buffer. I also have low bandwidth, but I find letting a video download at 720 is a good compromise between not being able to stream 720/1080, and the low quality of 480. So I start the video buffering and pause it for about 5 minutes, then I can get through the whole video with no breaks.
I don't know if there's a better browser extension that will allow full video buffering AND 1080p playback.
Edit: Check out Magic Actions for YouTube http://www.chromeactions.com/ the URL is misleading, as they support Firefox as well. Looks like it's "Speedbooster" option will buffer the entire video as well, and it's kept up to date.
Here's the link to the ext. on chrome. And if you don't trust links, just google "Magic Actions" or "Magic Actions for youtube" and it should be the first result.
Edit* It also appears that on their official webpage that they support other browsers like Firefox and Opera
This will get buried, but check out Magic Actions
They only support chrome, firefox, and opera. There is a lot of settings that you can adjust, even the old playback one that this meme is referencing.
You can also disable all video ads and annotations if you want.
Magic Actions is better. You can start videos in any resolution you want, it allows you to let a video load again, instead of this only load like 10 more second crap, also make YouTube look dark which is easier on the eyes, also theater mode.
You can actually fix that. If you are on Chrome use this, and for Firefox use this, and if you are using IE find a new web browser. Enable speed booster in the settings to allow for constant buffering.
search the game you want then filter to playlists. i've easily watched over 1000 hours of let's plays throughout the years so searching youtube for what i want is necessary. also grab "magic actions for chrome/firefox/opera" i refuse to watch youtube without it.
Install this addon for chrome, firefox, or opera. It plays all my youtube videos at the highest resolution by default and lets me control the volume with a mouse wheel. It'll also buffer the whole video instead of segments.
Watch out some extensions have malware, for instance Youtube Options does !!
Force Flash FIX :
To force flash, move the file "ffmpegsumo.dll" out of the Chrome app folder. ( and back it up somewhere )
File location : C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\33.x.xxxx.xxx ( for me )
Restart Chrome and Voila !
EDIT :
If you want to go extension, use Chrome Actions.
( Go to : Options -> Force player type -> and select Flash )
That din't work for me, googel is forcing HTML5 now.. Force Flash FIX :

EDIT :
Don't use the Extension "Youtube Options" to force flash, as it has MALWARE !!
It sends hidden requests to : "www . adcash . com/script/java.php?option=rotateur&r="
If you want to go extension, use Chrome Actions.
( Go to : Options -> Force player type -> and select Flash )
------ FIXED IT ------
Google is force feeding HTML5, but does not yet work properly.. ( no seek, and screensaver pops on when playing video )

If you're running Chrome or Firefox or Opera, get Magic Actions for Youtube
You can set the quality you want to watch your videos in, so the video will automatically be set to 1080p or 720p. You can also enable "Speed Booster" which basically allows you to buffer the entire video even if you've paused it. It also has a bunch of other useful things.
Although others have mentioned Youtube Center (with DASH disabled), I like Magic Actions (with SpeedBooster enabled) better because of it's Night Mode and scroll wheel volume control. Either way, they both do the same thing of allowing you to preload videos, stopping them from autoplaying, etc.
I recommend two addons for your browser. Youtube subscription grid is to me almost essential these days. It does what it sounds like, makes your subscriptions into a nice and neat grid.
Magic actions for youtube is next. It adds a lot of useful little tweaks and such. Here: http://www.chromeactions.com/magic-actions-for-youtube-chrome-app.html
Two of my favorites are cinema mode and allowing videos to cache properly instead of being stopped "to save bandwidth", which is a bellisng, regardless if you have good net or not.
I recommend these, because i have not experienced this bar thing with these installed.
