Ferak was the only print journalist who was skeptical of the Halbach murder investigation in the early days.
I had my local library order a copy of Ferak's book about two men who were falsely convicted in Nebraska after the top forensic officer planted blood in their car. I recommend Ferak's book. Dateline covered that case.
https://www.amazon.com/Bloody-Lies-CSI-Scandal-Heartland/dp/1606351974
I hope that Ferak is on to something. I know that he is dying to put out a good book on the Halbach case.
And then he almost immediately huddled with a small group to brag about his own book and disparage Jerry Buting's book (Illusion of Justice https://www.amazon.com/Illusion-Justice-Inside-Murderer-Americas/dp/0062569317/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540113073&sr=8-1&keywords=jerry+buting&dpID=51I5kf-kR8L&preST=_SY344_BO1,204,203,200_QL70_&dpSrc=srch).
I actually think the person who brought up his book may have been a shill. It was a weird thing to bring it up so quickly and so cheerfully. Maybe the publisher was worried about taking a bath on it.
Don’t forget, he used The Dionysus Group’s book, Who Killed Teresa? Unknown facts and new developments about Making a Murderer, which has a whopping 1.5 stars from 2 reviews on Amazon.
That explains a lot about the journalistic integrity in this piece.
And for those who would prefer not to set foot on the other sub, here is the actual link:

It's called the diploma privilege. If you graduate from Marquette or UW, no bar exam.
I think Wisconsin is the only state remaining that uses it. Several states used to use it. Back in the day, you didn't have to go to law school to become a lawyer. (You still don't in some states.) So I think they used the diploma privilege to induce people to go to law school; the inducement was you didn't have to take the bar.
But don't quote me on that. My coauthor on my first book wrote a couple chapters on legal education topics like becoming a lawyer without going to law school, and becoming a lawyer without taking the bar. Maybe they even use them as sample chapters on the amazon page. Check it out: https://www.amazon.com/But-They-Didnt-Read-Rights/dp/1616141662/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498536403&sr=8-1&keywords=but+they+didn%27t+read+me+my+rights
It is great that this troubling subject is finally getting the exposure it deserves. ETA: There is another series called "The Confession Tapes" also coming in September to focus on this as well.
They must have been prop belts/wires added by LE for the photos - - or the bones in evidence are not from ASY - because Eisenberg testified that she did NOT detect any burned rubber residue amongst the bones she examined.

You can also get weather history via Weather Underground. But the 31st is mysteriously NOT a choice for October 2005 at Manitowoc or nearby weather stations, and the daily data page for that date has been altered (if you access it via URL instead of drop-down box), so you have to get the WEEKLY view to see it on that site (and since the daily page isn't accessible, there's no telling if the weekly view is using accurate data):

do you have an Imgur account (free) to upload your photos to?
I just googled a how to - here is a sentence that may help:
from Imgur - click the "share" icon and pick Reddit app

I just checked. It did NOT rain in Manitowoc on October 31, 2005
Most of the folks here saw the blood experiment i did in January, and by chance I left the purple top blood I drew in my med box and it sat for a month or two. I meant to biohazard it and forgot. When I realized I still had it, I looked at the condition of it. It was liquid, but had thickened and was darker from exposure to air. When blood is in that state, as SA's would have been after 10 years with an obvious loss of seal integrity i.e. the puncture hole, if you move the tube it coats the sides making it look full. As a nurse, I have seen lots of blood, but normally don't keep it lying around so wasn't sure why it appeared that way so quick. Resident scientist told me plain old exposure to air did it.
The density of the rav smear, and appearance of thickness is why I have believed him to be innocent.
thanks trunkyuk, when you've finished, would you be so kind as to leave an Amazon review https://www.amazon.com/Un-Making-Murderer-Framing-Steven-Brendan-ebook/dp/B01M5FWM6J/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=#customerReviews
Most of the forum software reviews I see on a google search are biased by a hosting company sponsoring it. Here's one I found on "makeuseof.com" that seems independent..
edit: It looks like I forgot the link? http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-great-sites-create-forum/
You could just google, you know.
Here's a long article about Trump V the Cp5: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/17/central-park-five-donald-trump-jogger-rape-case-new-york
It includes the full ad he took out, and more.
Here's the image:
It clearly calls for the suffering and execution of the cp5.
Oh I agree. This case is absolutely maddening. But it seems we will never have a true resolution until KZ is allowed to do full forensic testing on it.
Check out THIS photo. I'm speculating this was taken when it was returned to CASO from the WCL. I noticed the guy with no coat on, so I looked up the historical weather data for Nov 12-13 2005 for Chilton. It was in the upper 50's - https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/wi/appleton/KATW/date/2005-11-12
I'm also wondering what other photo's exist from that period. I KNOW for a fact, there are hundreds of photos we haven't seen YET.
Also: Bye Bye for now Rob Hermann:
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer and County Chairperson Brey presented a Proclamation to Robert Hermann thanking him for his many years of service to Manitowoc County and as County Sheriff. Former Sheriff Hermann thanked the board for the honor.

January is the release date of the book, pre-order at Amazon.
In some recent interview, Kratz indicated a response in his book to the federal Brendan Dassey ruling.
Shaun Attwood is an amazing storyteller and I am very fond of him. I would recommend reading, "Unmaking a Murder" to those who haven't already. His other books are great as well and you can find them on all Amazon.
HEH I got a big laugh out of that. (Usurper)...you get a "taste" for why they won't permit DNA testing from this article. The Richard III Society was lobbying to test the "princes in the tower" bodies to exonerate him in their deaths :D That won't be happening.

Best wishes on this project. I've often thought a database of all the facts would be tremendously useful.
Your idea for an information tree, presumably with layers, would be tremendous as well.
Are you going to use a tool? there are heaps of them:

If I rememebr right when I put this together it shows 18 secs on SA cal log and 13 on TH log. 18 seconds is the full duration of her vm message.
Yes, that is why when you order you basic abduction kit from Amazon it provides a way to gag someone like this.
The weather was fine on Oct 31, 2005. Children went trick or treating. We have the weather history from the following site:
https://www.wunderground.com/history/weekly/KMTW/date/2005-10-31
Also, a lot of outdoor construction is done within the frame of the house you are building. Not necessarily out in the elements.
I went back to check the 1/2 hourly readings and
Nov 5 2005 7.35 am Temp 46F Dew Point 46F Humidity 100%
Dew forms when the temperature becomes equal to the dewpoint. Factors such as a warm car warms the air, increasing the dew point.
This warm moist air also cools down when it meets the cold air and as it cools, it releases moisture which then condenses on to the nearest cold surface. And that's is usually the windscreen and the metal. The complete 24 hour readings linked below do not account for a warm vehicle placed in the middle of the night changing the dew point.
https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/wi/manitowoc/KMTW/date/2005-11-5
Yes! You have to create an account, but it takes like 2 minutes to do, and it just requires an email address.... then just hit the search icon at the top of site, and a page will come up to search for the persons name. Teresa has an entry that lists her date of death, but it’s not an official death certificate/entry... it’s just for her “Find A Grave” into. She literally has no death certificate on file! My grandmother, who died in 2013, is listed... so I’m not sure why TH isn’t. https://www.familysearch.org/search/
Welcome. This was the only historical weather data site I could find with the local data three years ago - Link. This link shows the Mishicot/Maribel station data but Two Rivers is also available if you change the station search box. Hope it helps.
That was on the 5th, 5 days later on the Saturday.
By the way, even if there was rain on the 31st, there was none for several days after. There was also zero rain the week before. So the area wasn't saturated until that weekend of the 5th..
https://www.wunderground.com/history/weekly/us/wi/sheboygan/KSBM/date/2005-10-23 For some reason it keeps reverting to Sheboygan. :(
I'm looking at the contract. Trial Exhibit 380.
It mentions roaming, charged Based on Actual Usage in the Usage Charges. Makes me wonder if she had roaming, which would allow for the different company towers.
A little digging. The Motorola Razr 3V is only GSM. No CDMA https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_v3-853.php

Just noticed, or think I might've forgotten, her CV is on the steven avery case org website, trial exhibit 10. Says she spent a year during her undergrad degree in france and speaks fluent french, which I guess explains her connection to the Henry IV investigation. Which I noticed French TV aired a documentary about in 2011, which lists Eisenberg at Wisconsin Historical Society at the end under 'thanks to' (as she's also listed on the 2010 article; but on the retraction letter the only address is Raymond Poincaré Hospital!). I'm not sure if that's her at 13:52 minutes of part 2? (also a lady at the end looks similar but voiceover seems to be saying a different name).
I agree with what you are saying that it looks like she possibly didn’t leave home until somewhere between 1251 and 1352 based on the original info we had access to about the calls. I did a summary at that time https://www.docdroid.net/vOXISZd/th-calls-redacted.pdf. I’ve not looked at the more recently released call evidence though so there may be more data in that.
If she was home for the 1251 call then she was not at home for the 1352 call based on the tower info. I believe there was a fax which had been sent to her and was still on the machine was there not? So that may help give more info on approx time she left home (assuming it was before that fax arrived).
However someone did a detailed timeline of the journey times before so it might be better to look at those in tandem. openmind4u May remember who did the old timeline post with the journey times for that day on it?
according to her planner she was expecting to be home by 3/4 to do business paperwork and get a birthday gift so it would seem odd if she didn’t leave until after 1230.
I'm sorry you didn't get the feedback you'd hoped. Weekends are slow, and holiday weekends are slower still. It doesn't diminish the value of your work that people are teasing a bit about grass/weed (my head went in that direction, too--but not out of disrespect for your hard work--just because I'm me).
The thing about experiments is this: even unexpected results provide important information. If nothing else, they can help you and others rule in/out certain theories.
The problem with using the growth of vegetation is that it's so very difficult to create controlled conditions that mirror those of the original case. Hours of daylight and amount/direction of exposure, amount of moisture (precipitation, dew, etc.), temperature, the kinds of indigenous plants, the growing cycle of those plants and their place in that cycle, even things like the reflectivity of certain colors of car exteriors and how the height of a vehicle impacts availability of sunlight to new plant growth around tires.
Given what was available to you, you conducted a good investigation. And really, we all can extrapolate to conclude how things may have differed in Manitowoc in late autumn.
In Manitowoc, WI during the week of October 31, the minimum temperature ranged from the 35-51 degrees Fahrenheit, and the maximum temperature, from 48-60 degrees Fahrenheit. Depending on where you are, your temps and other conditions may be quite different in late May. (You can see the temps, and other weather history, for Manitowoc here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KMTW/2005/10/31/WeeklyHistory.html?req_city=&req_state=&req_statename=&reqdb.zip=&reqdb.magic=&reqdb.wmo=)
I'm NOT slamming your methods. Obviously, you can't duplicate Manitowoc late-autumn conditions at the end of May. But that doesn't mean that your findings aren't helpful. We just have to reframe them.
Thanks for your hard work.
There are actually web pages that specialize in tracking web pages for changes. Visualping.io will even check every hour for you for free and send off an e-mail whenever it detects a change :-)
Have you tried using the coordinates in Zellner's motion? They may be right. Or Google may be wrong.
another one to try is Mapquest. I put them in there and got the same result.
It's always available on mobile, mobile uses the standard Reddit platform, no CSS. On a web browser all you have to do is install RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite, a browser extension). Everyone should have this installed anyway, imo it makes Reddit a much more bearable experience aesthetically and functionally.
Once installed, just uncheck "Use Subreddit Style" in the upper right under where you start a new thread.
Anyone can easily downvote. Just uncheck the "use subreddit style" button here: http://puu.sh/q1Tw2/76875a90c3.png
For this to work you have to have RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) installed as a browser add-on but that only takes a minute and makes the Reddit experience much more enjoyable.
All speculation front to back, but... If I just so happened to come upon multiple blood drips and decided to swab it up I would take the parts that were still wet, which would be the middle of a drip. I am not saying that's what happened, but it made sense. Not to mention we are not talking about one drop, we are talking about multiple drips and if each was still liquid in the middle- theoretically you could use a couple swabs and get it all. I do know one thing: when I did some experimentation with my own blood trying to recreate similar blood smears as the rav, the only one that came close was the smear I made with a qtip that I dipped into blood, left in a sandwich bag for a day and a half then smeared it on my dash. There is a pic of it in my conclusion.
Zellner herself has no problem admitting that she pursues high profile cases for the attention and publicity, so I don't understand why people feel the need to constantly "defend her honor" on this point.
Straight from the horse's mouth:
"Zellner hopes the civil action will get her more attention and help build a national practice on civil rights cases arising from wrongful convictions"

Public entities get sued all the time. They all have risk insurance that covers compensatory & punative damages less their deductible. The financial damage would lie in their deductible & a potentially significant increase in the county’s annual premiums. The County would not have paid any financial award from their operating budget.
Manitowoc County is insured by Wisconsin Municipal Mutual Insurance Company, WMMIC, as are 19 other counties in Wisconsin. The insurer frequently has a very experienced Constitutional litigator on retainer and the insurer may dictate what attorney will represent the municipality in an effort to limit damages if the Plaintiff prevails.
Assigning personal liability to state actors is extremely complex and is governed in large part by ruling federal case law. Unless you are an experienced Constitutional litigator, IMO, it’s unwise to speculate as to the outcome of a federal civil rights case.
If you want to learn more about §1983 litigation and have some extra cash lying around, you can order David Lee’s Handbook of Section 1983 Litigation, 2017 from Amazon for a mere $694.00. It’s the Bible for attorneys who litigate 42 USC, §1983 cases.
Doing some math, if the box is about half full, then that's about 1.5 liters of bone by volume.
