It's not luck, its science! You're on the right track but definitely going to want more light, cannabis likes between 25 and 50watts per sqft depending on the umol efficiency. So if you build a 4x4 greenhouse, you'll want at least 400watts from the wall of usable light, or 5 of those kits kept at <18" to prevent airy bud. You could even get 10 of those kits set and she'd still have room for more light. The light from a t5 (regardless of the wattage) is unusable for plants after about 18 inches. Totally fine for veggies that need much much less light, but cannabis is much like my mom when all the young himbos are out surfing, just can't get enough sun.
That's why dedicated cannabis grow lights are recommended when at all an option. For around the same cost as 5 of those t5 sets you could get a brand name like a spoder Farmer se3000 https://www.amazon.com/Spider-Farmer-MeanWell-Spectrum-Commercial/dp/B08S6VVMZD that has a much higher efficiency and light penetration.
Have fun with the most rewarding hobby there is! 🤙

This is what I went with. I have RO water in my brewshed and I'll be filling a 5 gallon water jug for the device to pull from. We'll see how well it works.
I bought a plastic ammo crate (LINK), and there is no chance that light is getting through the plastic, it's super thick.
The Unit Farm series of entry level grow lights will make your plants happy. 60 watts for $30. I bought & like the UFL3000. Paid $72 Amazon made a pricing mistake.
They came with these nursery pots I'd bought to use when I'm growing photos.
Three recommendations:
I have used these lights for work but didn’t know they lite caterpillars up like neon. The pic doesn’t do it justice. It pops even more in real life. I found a white fuzzy caterpillar as well although that would have been found with a regular light.
This light makes Septoria stand out as well so can be a good tool for early signs of that.
My plants are routinely sprayed with BT. I used both Southern Ag and Monterey. I was kind of on fence about BTs effectiveness because I was seeing caterpillars throughout. But after a quick pass last night, I only found these two, so I’ll take that as good sign.
It isn’t quite as effective at seeing rot but a regular bright flashlight is effective for that at night AND during the day. I repeat, use a flashlight during the day. There is too much contrast with shade etc and a flashlight during the day reduces that. I encourage everyone to stay vigilant on their rot inspections and removal. A popcorn size rot today will be an entire cola in a week. And we still have a few weeks left.
(I also just got a BRIX tool but I’ll be using that next season.)

So far so good! Just wondering if I should be adding something like this
Just found this, but there are lots of sellers
Thanks! Cleaned the plants as best I could and started spraying yesterday. Took the pics with a cheapo wireless digital microscope I bought on Amazon. wireless digital microscope

Wisesorb Premium Indicating Silica Gel Beads is what I use. I just set them on a sheet of paper or a plate and put them in the fridge. Monitor and change every 3rd or 4th day. Just make sure to monitor the humidity in the fridge with a really accurate meter.
You'll need these:

So the soil said water only. After the plants were a couple weeks old I added a little bit of fish shit to the water and they seemed to love it. I wanted to keep it as organic and natural as possible.

Bacillus Amyloliquifiaciens
This is the key ingredient in the commonly found product hydroguard. Hydroguard is the planet's most expensive way to buy it though and costs more than Cocaine by weight. Other products can be found with higher concentrations, additional beneficial bacteria and much lower prices. Revitalize is a commonly found one available even on Amazon for infinitely less money. I also use a product called bacillus blast by tico biological supply out of Tempe Arizona. It provides higher concentrations than hydroguard along with five other beneficial bacteria.

I believe the water main flushing has something to do with it. Dunno. I do know that when they flushed the water a few years ago, it wiped out my fish tank. I'm 804. Our water probably isn't too far apart if I had to guess. This is the unit I've been using and it's been solid. Take care now.
Garden sections have some cheap plastic trays that go under flower pots. Once the water drains through the grow bag, you can vacuum it out or just dump the tray. I'm using one and just dump it. Something like these:

I used Coast of Maine Platinum Growers Mix, it was recommended by the guys at the hydroponics store I got it from. I haven't added any nutrients yet as I was told to wait until at least week three or four. I've just used ph'd and dechlorinated tap water. They're under 2 ts1000 LEDs with a tiny fan and a tiny humidifier.
I got this one. Just be careful not to dunk it too far into the water. Use the included PH packets to calibrate it and you are good to go

This is the set I got - but looks out of stock.
But there are similar ones still for sale on Amazon and Ebay.

I have this one, it's actually on sale right now for 23ish
If your on a budget and want to only just grow the limit and have top shelf flowers I recommend this kit. It's the same setup I have I just updated a few items in the kit. I upgraded the light to the SF2000, got a AC infinity exhaust instead of the one that comes with the tent and a digital timer instead of the analog timer.

Here is the amazon link. and for the nutrient container, I just cleaned out a plastic cat litter jug and have been using it. I poked a hole in the top for the tube and another for air. super simple.
Just make sure you check the actual watts or "at the wall"
Your setup looks like a 2x4. I do 100 watts max per 2x2.
This is on sale for $40 per 100 watt. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/BLOOMSPECT-Spectrum-Samsung-Dimmable-Greenhouse/dp/B08CZCDYR3&ved=2ahUKEwiH57ig4ubyAhWvFVkFHa2ICaQQFnoECAMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1A9z3m8ZEl9NgLgoJ47acJ
Buy 2 and you are cherry. Or 1 of these and 80 watts on the other side. You can also add basic GE/Walmart/Philips LED bulbs to supplement. You just chop the plastic portion of the led and it's a mini Cobb. You should do 2 x "100 Watt" LEDs (actually 9-12 watts, depending on quality).
Good luck on your grow. I wanna see some massive colas!

You’re fine!
Any PPM meter will work but here’s what I can recommend for you! It’s $15 so very affordable:
Water Quality Tester, Accurate and Reliable, HoneForest TDS Meter, EC Meter & Temperature Meter 3 in 1, 0-9990ppm, Ideal Water Test Meter for Drinking Water, Aquariums, etc. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073713G5F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CQ5TKG8BBGTMGDHD1W1P
If you decide to upgrade you PH pen, this pen is on point and holds it own! Here’s what I recommend:

Always come back if you have questions!!!
You can get Robert Bergmann grow Bible off his site for free if you sign up for email or something Here . They have physical copies if you prefer.
The Growers handbook is also popular.
Forums and sites like www.growweedeasy.com that has tutorials will be more up to date with things like equipment recommendations for example.
Yeah it's a 12", but I just got the 6" as well because I want the water to be more direct to the roots at the beginning.
I just picked up some of these so it should work out. I'm sure I could finagle something but I really liked these so went with a few more.
Yeah I was thinking I probably needed that too, do you think this setup would be good enough for a 3x3: https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Inline-Controller-Ducting-Ventilation/dp/B07YZKWNG5/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2BDM2S70E14GE&dchild=1&keywords=carbon+filter+for+grow+tent&qid=1625614949&sprefix=carbon+fikter+%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-5
These are the two I'm looking at. The Vivo has the lm301h diodes so it seems like it's a better choice.

Thank you for your help!
this is the brand of perlite I’d recommend. Solid AF for the price. It’s a massive bag so make sure you have somewhere to put it lol. I can personally attest to that perlite. Perfect size and great value for the money.
Hi all! I'm thinking of growing soon and was looking at some kits. Will this be a decent one? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B088R4B8N2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_1MA6N58CZ2621H86HXH6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Probably going to go through NASC for seeds. I've seen recommendations for soil on here, but what else do I need to consider?
I'd like top tier results (who doesn't?) but does that come from how it's grown or from the specific seeds?
I've really only smoked a couple of flower strands, as I have my card and vape a kid but would definitely take some suggestions for strains (prefer indica). Also, can the seeds really be guaranteed to be female?
Thanks!

This is for the tent..cheapest 60" I could find..for the other combo I would recommend buying seperate. you can get it cheaper and better quality , wish I would have done that instead of the combo..but we'll see when it gets here:) happy growing my friend!!
Two 12 quart bags are $25 on Amazon which is more than enough for a grow but if I could get each bag for $8 at a store near me I would, what store did you go to?
Yea this is the light I recommend it if you’re on a tight budget or just want to dip your toe in the water but if you can afford the extra $100 a Mars Hydro ts1000 is a better option. Coconut water is loaded with a bunch of nutrients that are great for cannabis, it’s a must have in my option for soil grows, same with molasses. They’re og fertilizers that are dirt cheap and work better than a lot of expensive brand name nutes.
