Sadly, it’s all true. The quality of service has dropped significantly in the last months. It’s pretty shocking, tbh. Going from a solid 9/10 to 3/10 on a good day. Even with wireguard, connecting to a server (even the fastest/closest) takes ages, the speed once connected is just awful. Twitter images are still not loading and nobody seems to care. Out of curiosity I downloaded Windscribe yesterday and - even on their free, non streaming-dedicated servers HBO Max and iPlayer work flawlessly. My WeVPN sub expires in January and I’ll have to say goodbye. I’m extremely disappointed, because I’ve recommended it to a lot of my friends and now I know they’re pissed too. Now the hunt begins. Not sure if I’ll go back to ExpressVPN or try something new, but this ain’t it chief.
I know what you mean . I already payed for another year of Windscribe before the servers in Ukraine were seized. That’s why I have been trying out other providers. Well does wevpn have a money back guarantee? If you could get your money back you might want to try Torguard . I have not tried out their streaming service yet but their regular vpn service seems very good so far
Yes The Entire WeVPN Network seems to be Configured "Specifically" for streaming, It does "NOT" work well with Streaming. I Should Have went with a better Provider Maybe Torguard or PrivateVPN or something i dunno. But i do Know WeVpn Does Not Work well for anything at all Reliably it's very Random and All over the place like for Testing it works good because you turn it on and run your test and it appears to be good but when you run it All day everyday you realize it's HORRIBLY unstable websites don't load right you have to change Protocols Constantly and Fiddle With DNS and Do alot of Praying!
Stream Quality is Very Low Basically you spend more time trying to get it to work then you do actually using it. There are much better options out there than this... Their Whole Network is patched together with glue and tape to make Streaming Services Work and they DO NOT work reliably nothing does with this Service. If I was still within my 30 days i would request a refund but i know i wouldn't get it even if i was within the 30 days they likely still wouldn't give a refund Because their Terms Of Service "TOS" Basically state they can keep your money for any reason period end of story.
5th UPDATE
WeVPN did get back to me. Said they are still working on the problem.
Here is what I have learned from my own testing -
RARBG magnets and/or torrent files won't work no
matter what on certain WeVPN servers.
Example -
Serbia server isn't RARBG friendly and either doesn't work or very slow
speed. Mexico City server works and offers great speed.
TEST 1 -
Download and add RARBG torrent file with over 300 hundred seeders.
Serbia either doesn't work and the file sits there looking for seeders
or IF it does actually start downloading, only a couple seeders are
found and speed is insanely slow. Switch to Mexico City and boom!
Seeders galore and the files download quickly.
TEST 2 - only using Linux Mint distro torrent this time and both servers download just fine. TEST 3 - used a heavily seeded torrent from L337x and both servers download fine with great speeds.
TEST 4 - Using Private Internet Access VPN service I can download with good speeds under all circumstances.
CONCLUSION - The problem seems to lay at the feet of WeVPN servers and/or VPN software and POSSIBLY something that RARBG is doing.
I know that he promotes torguard wevpn and one another. But when you look at the rest of yt or any other source it's either nord, surfshark or some kape technologies owned vpn. Only some mentions Mullvad torguard etc. These vpn are better than the heavily marketed one's. I went for torguard as it's been in this industry longer and wevpn is relatively new vpn still beating some of the top marketed ones too. Torguard hasn't let me down speeds and is are far better than nord and all. In the case of mullvad they don't have a partner program so nobody really mentions it. As in the case of torguard and wevpn the commission that they get from the customers is very less when compared to Nord. So this the reason why nobody mentions other good vpns
I'm glad you guys have a deep commitment in users' privacy.
However, I think your communication does not support that. You're fighting for privacy and trying to prove that with facts (which is a great thing) while using the same kind of marketing and communication techniques than others who are known or at least suspected to have bad privacy pratices (NordVPN for example).
When I visited your website for the first time, I was surprised to see YouTubers quotes on the homepage. According to me, these things are useless and misleading : you're obviously paying them to promote your services so what's the value of such reviews? If you'd be paying me, of course I wouldn't say anything bad on your services (I haven't heard any of these YouTubers speaking about the "clunkiness" of the WeVPN's macOS app for example ...).
Then, there's this weird relationship with the Tom Spark channel which you even advertise on your blog posts :
>Our good friend
That's ... weird, to me. Again, if that guy is affiliated with you and you're even using his content, how could we trust his WeVPN's reviews and quotes for sure?
Of course, this may have nothing to do with your real privacy pratices but too much marketing and weird affiliation relationships lead to untrust from privacy-focused users, in my opinion. I even saw Tom Spark posting some of his content somewhere in this sub if I'm not mistaken.
Other privacy-focused VPN providers do not use marketing at all as IVPN or OVPN for example. I didn't see these companies being advertised by YouTubers once since their creation and that definitely supports their commitment.
I switched from ExpressVPN to WeVPN in January and I’m quite happy. For $30 a year (I subscribed very early) it’s a steal. Unlike some other people here, I haven’t had any major problems with streaming services in the US, UK, and EU. My only complaint is a poor, or - to be precise - nonexistent device management. I know of a person who gained access to my WeVPN account and I was told by the support they couldn’t help me. ExpressVPN was much better at this, not only showing all devices using the service, but also allowing me to log them out. (Changing the password doesn’t do this, with WeVPN) Overall it’s a solid 8/10, but when my sub expires I will check back with ExpressVPN and its Netflixability. The problem I mentioned really annoys me and I’m willing to pay extra to solve it. I’m also curious about ExpressVPN’s new protocol as I don’t have too much trust in naked wireguard.
I am glad that WeVPN works for you. For me it was all kinds of problems and things that did not work as it should. I agree on that the support are great, and very responsive and always takes their time to do the best they can to resolve it. Unfortunately in my case they could not help and none of the provided solutions they had did not work for me.
Now I have NordVPN, and I am very satisfied with the services they offer and everything works as expected again. So I personally would not recommend WeVPN. But if it works for others, great for them. :)
Yeah while I agree its a shame that there are these limits in place in 2021 any kind of data limits should be a thing of the past, I understand you can't have a handful of users damaging the rest of the users on that servers experience... Also I wasn't very pleased with it being called service ”abuse" its just how I would want to use it, I don't think its a very nice way to describe customers or potential customers, I think the classic Fair Use Policy would be more appropriate for Wevpn to use!
Been using Torguard and not had any issues with the high data usage there!
My point is that you gave no alternative to one that DOES work. Does CactusVPN work, or TorGuard? Does AirVPN?
Chances are that a lot of these services that are good don't work either. I can confirm that TG does work with NBA league pass, but only because of the streaming / dedicated IPs. I wouldn't expect most other services to though.
But if you recommend alternative vpns like Express or Nord, then expect to have the same problems with services even like Netflix (because they have too many users flooding the servers).
No offense, but have you not yet noticed that WeVPN is just a reskin of ExpressVPN ? i even looked in their app bundle and it has many of the same files - including their "macos split tunnel" binaries, lol.
Kinda weird you haven't even noticed or mentioned it yet?
Damn, I hate to see those locations get removed, particularly for that area of the world. One reason I like Pure, HMA, CyberGhost is they have so many locations available. Not saying there aren't issues with those companies, but having a wide portfolio of locations is useful.
I guess it's understandable for a new VPN service to be focused and save money where possible, but hopefully a wide range of servers are available in the future on We.
