My first deck, I bought it in the late 90's. I have ADHD, and I lose EVERYTHING, but this deck has stuck with me as I've moved time and time again, across 4 different states. I love the surrealist artwork, but it's definitely an acquired taste. There is a guide book available if your original one has been lost. https://www.amazon.com/Tarot-Witches-Book-Stuart-Kaplan/dp/0913866407
The Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells by Judika Illes is a wonderful collection, and it's not just a compendium of spells, it includes substantial sections on both theory and practical advice. It's a great resource.

I'd never heard of an allergy to selenite, but apparently it's a thing:
I have a non-witchy solution that has worked super well for me. I use a bluetooth chip, TrackR Pixel in my wallet. It connects to my phone via bluetooth and an app. If I lose it nearby, I can make it beep til I find it again. If I lose it and it's not near me, the TrackR app uses a function called "crowd locate" where it uses bluetooth on other phones that have the app to locate my wallet. I also use one on my keys. Being able to call my lost item like a cell phone, or track its location, is the best. I was constantly misplacing things before, but now I can always find them. Technology is your friend here.
It’s so cute!! The devil card is my fave!
Agreed. As both a writer and an old witch, and given the vast diversity of witches your best bet it to read a book or two for actual witches to get a basic foothold (I’d suggest Bucklands Complete Guide. It’s pretty straightforward though not perfect and it’s only $15 on Amazon and will serve as a great reference to have on hand as you write. Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft (Llewellyn's Practical Magick) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/0875420508/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ijEdFbXASM10V ) then just write and have someone proofread afterwards.
Some big thing to keep in mind: - not all witches are Wiccan. Those words are often used interchangeably by some but not all of us are Wiccan. There are many kinds of witches just like not all Christians are Baptists. There are many kinds of Christians right? Now throw in that many people who practice magic and observe the holidays prefer to call themselves pagans. - you don’t have to practice a craft based religion to practice magic and you don’t have to do spells to practice a witch/pagan religion. I can believe in the religious aspects of Strega but not perform spell work. Or conversely I can do spell work and not believe in any of the religious teachings. You can meet witches of all different t faiths including Christian witches. - not all witches believe in deities. While many rituals involve symbolism for god and goddess (lord and lady) this doesn’t mean that all witches believe in either. Just as you may meet Christian witches you are also likely to very meet atheist witches. -I’m sure you already know that we don’t make deals with the devil and most of us don’t believe in a Satan (including Satanic witches who are in actuality - like Satanist - atheists who do not believe in a devil or god)
Best of luck
Kybalion (it’s a short read but DENSE on information about the Hermetic principles. This is the basics of how magic works. Best of all you can get it for about $4 on Amazon. The Kybalion: A Study of The Hermetic Philosophy of Ancient Egypt and Greece https://smile.amazon.com/dp/1603864784/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9eEdFbMZSY1DS )
Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft (also known in the community as Uncle Bucky’s Blue Book as I think most of us have owned it or at least one of his books at some time; this is other oldie. This is more practical than esoteric in comparison with the Kybalion. It walks new witches through history, rituals, sabbaths, tools, etc. it’s a great getting started book or one to have as a reference. Also available on Amazon for a price that’s pretty affordable. Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft (Llewellyn's Practical Magick) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/0875420508/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ijEdFbXASM10V
I am particularly fond of the Magika Hiera https://www.amazon.com/Magika-Hiera-Ancient-Greek-Religion/dp/0195111400 It is more Hellenic witchcraft so it predates Wicca ;)
Instead of picking them allow them to melt in a cup or bowl and the first floating messages is your answer.
But they sell silicone molds for making runes and and chakra points and a bunch of other sigils and symbols. You could easily freeze yourself a set of runes and drop them in a bowl to draw 3 from. Or toss them and see what lands face up.
First one I saw after searching rune silicone molds. https://www.amazon.com/Chakras-Silicone-Casting-Handmade-Supplies/dp/B08YN26SLZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=2SPOC75AT4V1I&keywords=rune+silicone+mold&qid=1660932213&sprefix=rune+sili%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1
It was most likely placed in the wall to protect the home. There is old folklore in Europe about putting personal objects like a single shoe or soemtimes one finds a child's teddy bear, (we did tearing out old lath & plaster to put up new drywall) and I took the teddy bear to imply their child died, possibly at birth, and his/her bear was placed in the wall so its spirit could help protect the remaining family. Perhaps the ring belonged to a grandfather who passed away? So they placed it in the wall for the same purpose. It would make sense.
In southern African Hoodoo lore, we sometimes see this as well in old homes where black folks grew up over many generations. Other times we can find a square headed nail driven into the front doorway's lintel which was done to keep evil at bay.
If you enjoy this type of folklore, you may wish to invest in a copy of Harry M. Hyatt's mammoth 5 volume set of "Hoodoo, Conjuration, Witchcraft, Rootwork" which you can see HERE going for a sultan's sum.

I recommend this book for home warding and protection. Useful for getting the gist for personal protection as well.
Glass Mortar/Pestle on Amazon. Mine is not exactly like this one but similar. Mine came from an actual apothecary shop so its mortar was shallower thasn the amazon's offering. Easiest to clean of them all IMHO. More expensive but in the end cleanup is fast - and dishwasher safe. Hah!
The marble mortars don't absorb like the wooden one does. It's not asporous. I think the copuntertops are of a different sort of marble (my brother told me - he used to install marble for a living.) They work well but I just didn't ncare for the bits & pieces stuck down in the raised ridges which are used to break up tough ingredients like peppercorns, peanuts and ___.
Magical powders are terrific for use to get your way, ward off someone, create barriers, ring your candle workings with, and so much more.
If I were youm I would buy a decent, printed herbal with colored printed of the plants in the wild such as "The Magic & Medicine of Plants" by the editors of Reader's Digest. It shows what the plants look like in their wild habitats, offers both folklore & medicinal info as well as magical lore on the plants. Hard to beat for the $42.00 and with it, you can find and harvest Belladnna, Datura, Hellebore, and many others oput in the wilds including non-poisonous varieties such as Five Finger Grass, Milk Thistle, Queen Annes Lace and All Heal herb.
I recommend this book and the others in the series as a good starting point:

I take a low dose of melatonin most nights because I love to dream, but I rarely do. It really helps with that, but I do know people that have had bad nightmares with it. I don't know if it is a factor in all of those cases or not, but most people who take it do take way too much melatonin. I know one of the people who had nightmares was taking 5-10 MG a night, which is A LOT. That being said, some people just don't react well to it
The ideal dose according to studies is .33 MG, but it is almost impossible to find that dosage unless you use melatonin liquid in a dropper and modify the dose. The one I use has .5 MG which isn't perfect but close, and definitely the closest I have found in chewable/melt form. It is unfortunate that most melatonin on the market comes in doses that are much too large, even most of the ones marketed for young children. Especially since taking too much melatonin routinely can keep your body from making it's own!
Here's a link to the one I take if anyone is interested:
Two things to note for anyone considering taking this: It also contains chamomile, which is in the daisy family and can cause allergies in some people, and it contains zylitol, so be very careful to keep in FAR away from your furry friends!

Here's some advice: Get a good book on the runes - (I recommend this one Taking Up The Runes: A Complete Guide To Using Runes In Spells, Rituals, Divination, And Magic https://www.amazon.com/dp/1578633257/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_P2F1H7V8A0VT4SWBS4KJ)
Randomly pick one from your bag a day, just one. Study it's meaning from the book and meditate on it. Draw it out in your journal and record your thoughts. When you feel familiar with all of them, then move on to doing 3 a day and see if you can decipher a meaning from the pull.
This Book Here I’ve also recently gotten into runes. It took awhile to find a good book about it that wasn’t misinformed and had all the info I was looking for. Highly recommend this one!
of course! I used this website to learn how. You can also find one online but personally I think making them yourself is way more effective.
I haven’t been using them long but I’m really happy I started incorporating them into my practice, it’s literally a pen and paper and your own intentions so its i feel like its the cheapest and easiest thing to do in witchcraft haha!
this book has a chapter on just sigils that was really helpful 🧡✨

You try to meditate or get into a trance like state or try to relax your mind as you gaze into it. Its like scrying- if you want to look up the word scrying you’ll come across lots of different techniques to do it.
Basically the ball 🔮 would be the medium you use to focus your regular vision on as you relax it and allow for your third sight to come to the forefront.

I'm an American witch and hoodoo/conjure/root magic uses brooms as protectives and cleansing. Besoms (magical brooms) can be made of herbs, feathers or grasses for "sweeping" energy. Many witches make their own brooms, and handmade brooms are very much a thing in Appalachia (where I live). The handle is chosen with the care with which you'd choose wand wood, as are the grasses or herbs for the broom. There's a whole chapter on them here:

Thank you so much for your kind words! I've had some good luck thrifting lately and it's been SO THRILLING. Way more fun than regular shopping! I found this at our local habitat for humanity ReStore, which is my current obsession. It just felt perfectly meant to be.
I'm just at the beginning of building my collection of witchy books, but so far the best and most helpful tarot book I've found is this one from Biddy Tarot. It's a TON of information, but it's so so thorough and helpful. It's really in depth and has like separate sections for what each card might mean in various contexts (eg work, relationships, etc) and I just find it so useful.
The Death card doesn't have an overwhelmingly specific meaning for me right now, I just appreciate the general concept and it's just meant a lot to me over time. My partner picked it out for me for my birthday because they know how much it's meant. I feel connected to the idea of allowing chapters to end and embracing change. It's brought a lot of peace to my life.
I am certainly no expert on spells, but it seems unlikely that your spell in that moment is the causal agent at play here. I know PCOS definitely affects weight, so I would try to not be too hard.on yourself. I do recommend Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth though. This book is about the relationship you have with your body and food and how the words you hear growing up, especially from our mothers, morph into really harmful perspectives when we're criticized about our bodies and food. It sounds like this is something you could relate to and might be helpful. https://www.amazon.com/Women-Food-God-Unexpected-Everything/dp/1416543082

While there are some quote worthy stuff within the bible there's an even more helpful tool for you it's a book called "when someone you love is wiccan" by Carl Mccolman (link provided) though you may not be "wiccan" but some flavor of witch. this book helps to defeat misnomers about the craft.
Now my knowledge of the bible is limited but i'm pretty sure that there is a point i think in the old testament where "god" says to the 12 tribes that "you shall not warship any other gods than me for I am a jealous god" or something like that. which tells you that there are other gods I just don't want you worshiping anyone else. think of god like a very jealous boyfriend "no guy friends for you"
the edits that happened over the centuries to the bible change alot the quote "thou shall not suffer a witch to live" was actually something different, i'm having a hard time tracking down the orignal.
Because of the bad press when it comes to witches and the like, my favorite description of the craft is "We worship the earth itself as though it were god/goddess because it is tangible we revel in the sacred cycles of the sun and moon, the changes the earth goes under as the seasons change. we celebrate the first and last harvest, we mourn the loss of the sun come winter and celebrate its return in the spring. we view nature in all its glory as something to be revered. science hasn't changed what is true by the hand of god it has only changed our understanding of it" and to put it in a context that someone whos coming from a christian background, would understand " we worship the earth because it is one of gods creations, god gave us this garden to take care of and we are reawakening to this. we never left eden we just forgot we were still in it. god moves through us and we use prayer (spells) to manifest outcomes for the good of all, we move in love and light caring for gods garden"

This book https://www.amazon.ca/Grandmothers-Secrets-Ancient-Rituals-Healing/dp/1566563267 (sorry for Amazon link) is NOT witchy per say, but I found it incredibly powerful as a woman, and I think that finding that female power made me stronger in every way, including as a witch.

Here are some references for magickal properties of woods: https://www.macfies.com/wood-properties.html Also one of the best books on the subject: https://www.amazon.com/Wandlore-Crafting-Ultimate-Magical-Tool/dp/073872002X
The gold standard book on planetary magick is the Picatrix, a medieval/renaissance grimoire on planetary magick and correspondences. The one linked above will be the best translation. It's dry, but it's what all other texts get their information from.
There's historical precedent.
Look up the British tradition of 'Cunning Folk'.
If you're not familiar with the concept, they were white magic/folk magic practitioners with strong Christian beliefs. They were accepted by the common folk of the British isles and tolerated by clergy for centuries. There's a few books floating around on Amazon and other websites that might give you some inspiration for a practice centred around Christian ideas of divinity. Here's one I liked, available on Kindle unlimited if you have it.
Bear in mind that they were Christian but not Catholic - the Vatican has traditionally had a hate-boner for magic since before English was a language.
Get the book The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish. It has a good introduction to the history of Witchcraft in Europe. Another good book is Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson. It's a great overview of not only the practice but the history of Witchcraft with book references and recommendations in the back.
It does have a blue quartzite look and altho i dont see that particular color it is much like THESE
I love to find focused and niches that I’d like to learn about and going one at a time through them. I started off with learning a ton about aromatherapy and essential oils which morphed into herbal craft and then I later developed into more wide arching witchy books and such. There’s a book called “How To Become A Witch ” which has been my absolute favorite and covers so many topics in depth with such good explanations. Best of luck !

If you're looking for a book about Romani magic and culture, I'd look no further than Buckland's. Side note, even though his title includes the word "G*psy", it's considered a serious slur to the Romani people, very similar to a white person calling a black person a "N*gger". Not screaming at you about it, but if you don't know you can't improve. She'll love the book, Raymond Buckland is a pillar of our community.
