Because the market moves as a whole. And the market mover is Bitcoin. So when it is up, the market follows and when it is down, the market follows. The saying "Bitcoin is king", like it or not, is still relevant.

XRP used to have one of the lowest correlations with BTC but it too caught up.
ANYONE USING UPHOLD, be careful. They're having outages and people's transactions into and within Uphold are being lost and delayed, even when they're being confirmed from the sending network.
For example, Coinbase wallet to Uphold wallet, the transaction is confirmed as successful on Coinbase (sending account) and missing on Uphold (receiving account)
Uphold is probably still a good company and all - but their networks, like others, are very very very overloaded.
Try Binance, quick and easy. I was buying within 30 minutes. Try this Referral code https://www.binance.com/?ref=12321621
Here's a video I watched to setup Binance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnjbaCXpvjs
There are a number of different ways you can go about it but what you’ve listed will work. Despite who you use you will have to purchase BTC, LTC, or ETH and exchange it for XRP.
The main issue for me was getting verified with some of the other names aside from coinbase so that I could transfer and then exchange.
I watched it triple in price while I figured it out and I wasn’t pleased at the time but now I feel it’s a good decision to just HODL.
Easiest way is to purchase BTC on Coinbase https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a2f4b031f8add0168fefcec then exchange on binance, 15 minute process In total and extremely easy compared to waiting for verification from other platforms. https://www.binance.com/?ref=12782899 If you use my referral code we both get $10 worth of bitcoin for free. I have some Celo, not much but hold it. There will be room for many different networks including Celo. XRP has different ambitions and are on a whole different level really. The 43rd US treasurer just joined the ripple board yesterday. That’s bullish!
Binance for sure - changelly has been holding my crypto hostage since monday. PISSED. Had to quickly get in at $.35 and was able to transfer my ETH though coinbase to binance and within 5 mins trade confirmed.
I've been using uphold.com. I've purchased XRP about three times through them thus far and it was relatively painless.
I created my account, got verified within an hour or so, and was able to buy XRP within a very short time (few hours at most?). Recently, however, I've been looking at delays of about a day. I think it took right about 24 hours for my last deposit to the USD card (via debit), but that's still significantly faster than what you're talking about with GDAX.
I do move my XRP immediately off the exchange once purchased, however, since I don't trust any of them.
Research will get you these figures, one link is this one https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/eth?HashingPower=&HashingUnit=KH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=240&CostPerkWh=.33&MiningPoolFee=1

Take a look at this website. Follow the links to see more info about them. To answer your question directly, they are targeting banks to use XRP (the Ripple "currency") for b2b payments.
I would stay away from Bitfinex - especially since the terminated business with US citizens: https://www.bitfinex.com/posts/227
I personally trade on Binance where I move funds from Coinbase via GDAX (to avoid fees) into Binance. On Binance the fees are 0.1% (or 50% less if you use their BNB coins).
Using BNB is also necessary to avoid dust-coins (i.e. you buy 110 XRP and due to fees land up having 109.9 XRP - one XRP you can not use)
Binance does not allow fiat transactions, hence my use of Coinbase. If anyone needs a more indepth explanation, here is my shameless blog-post on how to get started: https://www.naschenweng.info/2017/12/26/start-trading-cryptocurrency-binance/
I also got stuck with Changelly holding mhy ETH when I converted to XRP for over a week. It finally came through however I will not ever be using Changelly again. I now use Binance and it is so quick. Unless you are moving more than 2 BTC in a 24 hr period you do not need to submit verification so it cuts time in half. However you have to exchange with either BTC or ETH. I start on Coinbase then trade my ETH to Binance to exchange for XRP or XLM or XVG. Takes maybe 15-20 mins for everything. Good Luck! DO NOT USE CHANGELLY :) Cheers
Bitstamp took forever and even after i can't use my CC to buy anything because of their new 3rd party payment system. I think Coinbase and then transferring to another exchange is best. Do your own research but I used Binance so much quicker. Kicked myself since I have so much money locked up in Changelly right now. DO NOT USE Changelly!!

Here is how I did it, and what I believe is the the quickest, and easiest way to buy Ripple and avoiding all hefty transaction fees.
Go through directed steps Purchase desired amount of Bitcoin, or Ethereum (You’ll need one of these to exchange for Ripple).
Under BTC, go to “Deposit” -> “Coinbase Account” and type in the amount of Bitcoins you’d like to transfer over (this will be the amount of BTC/ETH you’ll use to buy Ripple).
Go through directed steps Go to “Funds” -> “Deposits Withdrawals” For BTC, click on “Deposit” Copy the BTC deposit address
Under BTC, go to “Withdraw” -> “BTC Address” Paste the address you had copied from Binance into the field Type in the amount of BTC you would like to transfer to your Binance account
Go to “Exchange” -> “Basic” or “Advanced” (just depends on your preference). Click on “XRP/BTC” on the right-hand column BUY YOUR XRP! (Remember, you’re trading BTC for XRP) Type in the price of BTC you would like to purchase your XRP at. Binance makes it easy by giving you options (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) of the amount you’d like to buy.
Enjoy!

Below are the eligibility requirements that eToro trading platform and eToroX crypto exchange users must meet to be able to receive Spark tokens:
Users must be holding the XRP tokens consecutively between 00:00 GMT on 11.12.2020, and 00:00 GMT on 13.12.2020. This is to ensure that their holdings are included in Flare’s snapshot on December 12. XRP tokens that are pending deposit or withdrawal at the time of the snapshot will not be counted towards a user’s XRP balance. The eToro records at the moment of the snapshot will be regarded as conclusive evidence.
The snapshot will NOT include XRP leveraged positions, CFD positions, short positions, CopyTrade positions or CopyPortfolios, or all cross transactions of XRP with other cryptoassets and/or with currency or such transactions otherwise classified as CFD in the trading platform. Furthermore, XRP holdings in the eToro wallet account will not be included for participation in the snapshot.
Holders of XRP in eToro Wallet are NOT eligible.
Users must be fully verified, both at the time that the snapshot is taken, and at the time of the Spark distribution.
The Spark token distribution program supported by eToro is subject to all regulatory requirements, and may be accompanied by further terms, as applicable to eligible users and the mechanics of the distribution.

Try signing up at Gatehub https://www.gatehub.net/ and ensure to connect to the 5th gateway whcih support eth and xrp
then use changelly https://changelly.com/to convert eth into your gatehub wallet
but first in gatehub make sure to activate the eth wallet as once connected its not authed by default
Ive done this today and gatehub game me a free 20 XRP as soon as the eth hit :)
You can use the XUMM mobile wallet by Ripple. You can enter your Private Keys into it and gain access to your XRP. Alternatively you can also use the Exodus Desktop Wallet too. By inputting your Private Keys. Just be sure these are official wallets from official sites.
Exodus Desktop Wallet which also has Mobile via Google Play Store. https://www.exodus.io/
XUMM is on Google Play Store. Search XUMM
Good Luck,
Purchase BTC or eth on Gemini or coinbase or whatever app you normally can use. Get a vpn like NordVPN etc. Turn on your VPN after you purchase your BTC or ETH. Open an account with Binance (not ) while VPN is on in a different country. Preferably with native language being in English. Transfer your purchased crypto to your appropriate Binance address. Now use that currency to purchase xrp. You can keep your XRP in binance or transfer it to an American exchange you used to purchase either your BTC or ETH.
Just my opinion, the fact US exchanges allowed you to deposit xrp but not purchase is just stupid. But if the SEC loses this legal battle and US exchanges allows you to purchase XRP one again, you'll already have it in your US exchange and ready to go. Just remember to turn on your VPN before using binance otherwise they will cancel your account when they notice your IP address is off. And to turn it off when opening your US exchange
Good luck
Nope looks like just BTC on Poloinex.
I've successfully purchased XRP by using Coinbase(GDAX) and the Binace exchanges. If you already have ether just create a free account on Binance and send it there and exchange for XRP. No verfication needed to trade with crypto.
You can use any exchange you want to buy ETH but you need some coin to exchange for XRP. What I did was as follows:
1 - Buy Ether from Coinbase / GDAX (to save $ on fees).
2 - Withdraw from Coinbase and Deposit to your account on Binance (Shamless plug for Binance https://www.binance.com/?ref=15853371 )
3 - From Binance you can purchase XRP with your ether XRP/ETH on the Binance exchange. Once you have the XRP you can transfer it to a different exchange or to a wallet.
There are other ways to get XRP but this was the easiest way for me.
Keep in mind all exchanges are heavily bogged down with traffic and deposits / withdraws / verifications may take longer than usual.
I've successfully purchased XRP by using Coinbase(GDAX) and the Binace exchanges. Kraken or bitstamp will allow straight up with USD but the verification times will take WEEKS or are flat out not allowing new users period at this time. Basically the path of least resistance at this time is you need to get your hands on some other crypto. Preferably ETH as its quicker and the transaction costs are lower than BTC.

For all those who don't have a binance (best exchange imo) account yet- (Expecting huge growth in XRP in the next few months with the bank trials and so new investors), I'd highly appreciate it if you could use my referral link. HODL.
Not sure how I feel about GateHub....
Anyone can verify the voracity of the claims on TrustPilot? Can TrustPilot be trusted?
GateHub Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of gatehub.net (trustpilot.com)
The volume on Giottus is very low, they don't give you the volume figure but you can see the transaction history at the bottom of the market page: https://www.giottus.com/tradeview?basecoin=INR&paircoin=FLR/INR
Volumes on Poloniex are much higher, but still not very high compared to other mainstream coins. See here: https://poloniex.com/exchange/usdt_xflr
The volumes are just way too low to get an accurate picture of what it's future price will be like. I'd be more inclined to believe the Poloniex one though.
I'd tell you not to use them based on this -> https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/bitstamp/reviews, do what I did and transfer Etherum/Bitcoin to binance.com, then transfer your XRP to your computer-ripple wallet. When it's time to cash out in some years companies like Blockchain and Coinbase have added XRP for sure.
> Bittrex
You never hear anything good about Bittrex though. Neither on reddit or the reviews, people suddenly loose money or get it frozen. You should consider getting your cash off bittrex to another company, or a cold-storage (https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/bittrex/reviews/BTC).
Bitstamp was horrid for me. Took 2 weeks and now can't use my CC to purchase anything. Went with Coinbase to buy and then transfer to Binance which has been seamless. Go to Binance
Same thing happened to me taking forever. I got stuck on all those and Changelly has still locked up my ETH trying to exchange it for XRP which was suppose to be near instant. I used Binance - it was so quick maybe 20 mins to buy then transfer and then exchange on Binance. Love Binance - no verification process unless you are moving serious cash.

Not sure if this helps...but this was my path: 1. Create an account on Coinbase. Purchased some BTC and LTC. 2. Create an account on Binance (lengthy process - took some time to get authenticated) 3. Sent BTC and LTC to Binance. 4. Purchased Ripple, IOTA, Cardano, XLM and XVG Feel free to use my referral code: https://www.binance.com/?ref=11656286 Good luck!

You can also use Gatehub to set up an XRP wallet. You then use Shapeshift (https://shapeshift.io) to convert from various cryptocurrencies to Ripple. It's reasonably self-explanatory, though a few extra steps compared with buying BTC, LTC, ETH etc. There's also a minimum transfer of 20XRP to fund an empty Ripple wallet on your first transaction.
You should have a look on https://coinmarketcap.com and https://www.cryptocompare.com and just pick out a few of the cheapeat ones, grab a few bits of each, no more than like 15-20% of your portfolio and just hold em. I'm holding BTC, CVC, OMG, XRP & IOT.
You mean internet service providers from New York State are blocking IP addresses from Coinomi services? Again, you seem to be mistaken, Coinomi is not an exchange, it's a non custodial wallet. You can download it from coinomi.com and use it from anywhere.
Ahh okay. I asked them about this, and they said to check out their solvency on their transparency page. It says they have 900million XRP in their vault. Does this sound like plenty enough to handle an order book of my size? Since Uphold is one of the only few that still trades XRP, perhaps their capacity for orders has increased dramatically from what you knew before? What do you think? Here is the exact message and link they gave me: "You can also see a real-time verification of our obligations, transaction flows, assets and solvency on our Transparency page." https://uphold.com/en/transparency
Yes, it is possible
go to : https://uphold.com/dashboard
choose the XRP account :
click on use funds then choose send to Cryptocurrency or Utility Token
finally, enter your address wallet and the destination tag
notice that it may take an hour to process your transfer
Doesn't say. I used GlobalID to register. I've been a used since Jan 28.

For XRP holders in the US: move your XRP from Coinbase or Bitstamp to Uphold
You establish an address / wallet on each exchange. In order to do so, the XRP network currently requires 20 XRP held in reserve in each wallet. This is to avoid people spamming / abusing the network as it would cost them money to do so.
I personally use Uphold.com. You need to create an XRP card on the website. From there, go to your USD card and click ADD FUNDS. Add money via your bank account or debit card. Know that if you use a debit card they take a cut of the total transfer, but bank appears to be free (although you incur a longer delay). 24 hours after initiating a debit card payment you'll receive an email stating that your funds are available.
To buy XRP, you simply go to your USD card and click USE FUNDS (or something similar, I'm not looking at the screen at the moment). You then "transfer" funds from your USD card to your XRP card. This is buying XRP. Moving from the XRP card to your USD card is selling XRP.
Congrats! You now own XRP.
It should be noted that exchanges have, historically, not been a good place to store your coin/tokens. Many have been hacked in the past and had users' funds stolen. I've never heard of this happening to Uphold, but it's a good idea to move your XRP to a toast wallet (on a phone) or a hardware wallet like a Ledger Nano.
Click your XRP card and use the TRANSFER FUNDS section to then send those funds to your Toast/Ledger/etc. wallet and get them off the exchange. You don't need to be worried about a "destination tag" if moving to a Toast or Ledger wallet, but you may need it when moving BACK to an exchange as your XRP is really stored as an entry in the database within one giant "real" wallet containing the XRP of all users. Your destination tag will make it clear to which account the funds belong.
Have fun.
You will get your Flare when it becomes available on the platform that held your XRP at the time of the snapshot, no matter what.
If you are not actively trading your XRP and plan to hold, then you should just withdraw to an external wallet. Storing crypto on sites like big exchanges (or anywhere online, really) opens you up to all the hackers constantly trying to breach them.
The only real requirements IMO for where you store your coins should be: being offline, and having private key access though. Personally, I use the Exodus Wallet (https://www.exodus.io/). They're well-known, support tons of coins (with staking on some), and you can get it on Desktop and Mobile for free. Oh, and Exodus is supporting Flare, so you can send your Flare there when you have access if you plan on keeping the tokens.
I'm assuming you just haven't gotten around to getting something like a Ledger yet, but either way, you should use something like Exodus until then.
Absolutely, and the Private Keys belong to you, not Coinbase. Install the official desktop version. It's a Multi Crypto wallet, probably one of the best available. And easy to use with a great interface.
Simple use Exodus Desktop Wallet which also has a mobile wallet. Or the Ripple XUMM wallet. Though the Exodus wallet makes it Super Easy to claim your Spark. It's a simple click of a button and you are all set. https://www.exodus.io/
1) how is this XRP / Ripple related?
2) The amount of traffic to this website is so pathetically low that I think it could be branded as fake news.
I believe this it where is stemmed from
Lol VPNs aren’t “shady”. That’s hilarious! They’re incredibly useful if you value your security and privacy online. Seriously, check out NordVPN. Cheap and really easy to use. I think they even do a free trial.
Thanks man, just got one. So I can understand I turn that thing on at my house, and I can’t access the internet. I turn it off and internet is fine. When do I turn that thing on/off? Do I have to do something separate with router? Appreciate the help. I’m Using NordVPN
You can also buy via card on IQ OPTION as well. Its an application. Have been seeing a lot of advt. Lately. Not sure how it works in terms of account verification and all.
