Classic is not F2P. It's a P2P subscription based game. Literally right here on https://www.aiononline.com/classic they have two columns - "Free trial" and "Siel's Aura". Trial vs subscription, like every other subscription based game that offers a trial.

They posted this link on their twitter a little while ago which covers a lot of that. No direct info on exactly what the exp and drop rates are compared to original Aion but they did confirm that they're following in the footsteps of the Korean classic version.

According to steamdb, right now there are 643 people playing right now, with a 1145 all-time peak for the steam version, 37k owners and 15k different players src( https://steamdb.info/app/373680/graphs/ ) keep in mind steamdb is not 100% accurate.

Doesn't look like steam is helping them too much at the moment.

I remember when they posted their goodbye message back on June 11th of this year. Of course since the site is down, had to use the Wayback Machine to get the page...

If you go to the FAQ and go to Premium Membership > Siel's Aura: Full list of differences, it calls the non-premium version the "Free trial".

So it's a different version of something like FFXIV'S endless trial, just different limitations. However, even trial users get full sub benefits for 1 hour a day, so not too shabby to be honest.

Yes you can play at NA, but EU and NA are from a different company so you need to make a new account and download a different client, there is also the Ping issue, idk wich server will run better for you.

I don't think there are any servers in Aussie, but the closest one for you, it's the NA servers.

and for your last question no it's not really good to come back on this game lot of people leave this game because the updates are getting more and more ridiculous. if you want really test aion i advice to play on server private with a old update

Regarding the AION Item and Economy Migration, kindly refer to the details below:
• Kinah stored in your mailbox, inventory, and broker was automatically changed into Gold Ingots which can be located in the Special Cube of your inventory. The conversion will be 1 Gold Ingot per 30 Million Kinah. For every 1 Gold Ingot converted, an average of 12 Million Kinah was added to your inventory.
• Kinah stored in your Account Warehouse was automatically changed to Gold Ingot Bundles containing 1 Gold Ingot each. This was also at a rate of 30 Million Kinah for each Gold Ingot Bundle. For each Gold Ingot Bundle earned, you will receive 12 Kinah Bundles (worth 1 million Kinah each). These were deposited into the Account Warehouse, but can only be withdrawn once.
• Essence Cores of level 5 or higher was also changed to Gold Ingots. There was no Kinah added for Essence Core conversions.
