I'd lean towards DMing them not being an effective means of contacting them. Banks are busy with refunds right now so expect a delay in getting a refund. It's been two weeks for me and I still haven't seen my AA refund come through. My hotels.com refund barely came through and it's been 3-4 weeks since I cancelled it.
We ended up purchasing this one and it was perfect! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FY4PNTY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The ability to expand each side made it much easier to gradually train our pup to be comfortable in the small carrier. Flew with both United and American Airlines without any issues
I’ve had this For years and never lets me down
I have a garment bag that is also a duffel bag. This way the walls of the duffle bag can be filled with clothes and I can still put things inside. It fits in both the overhead bins and underneath the seat. This is the link to the one I have.
I used the kind of heating pads that have some sort of powder inside that activates on contact with air. No problems with TSA and worked for me. I didn’t wear it in the security scanner but I wore it before and after and the packs didn’t get flagged in the xray machine. Hope this helps. Srhythm NC25 Active Noise... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F62W3TQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought these. They didn't cost much, completely over the ear, good active noise canceling and have a variety of connectors including that dual plug you find on a lot of planes. Worked well for me on AA60 from NRT to DFW

Saved my ears on my last flights.
This maybe isn't an AA specific question, but a flying question in general or to see if anyone has experienced something like this, but has anyone tried to fly with a "power bank" like the one I will link below? I am car camping at Coachella in a few weeks and I am renting a rental car, but will be sleepingin my rental car. One of my main goals is to not use the car's battery as much as I can because that would suck monday morning having a dead car lol I think I have planned around getting basic battery powered equipment so I don't use the car's battery, but I am looking at getting this "power bank" that seems to last a long time to charge phones, maybe use hair straighteners, etc. I thought about just ordering one if this is the one I decide and picking it up from an Amazon locker when I arrive to Coachella, but then I remembered I would need to charge the power bank, so I would like to do that before I leave for the festival. I know this has a big wattage, and I understand it is lithium ion batteries so I will have to carry it on, but I can't find the maximum one that TSA will allow (or they said on their site it is up to the TSA agent's discretion and that isn't good enough for me since I need a guarantee that something expensive like this can make it to the plane with me), and AA's website doesn't really mention it (that I can find). Please let me have any advice!
It's interesting that this one on Amazon is being sold as "Airline approved carry-on luggage". It's the same size as my bag.

My mom brought her miniature dachshund with her on an Envoy AA flight in this carrier: SturdiBag Large Flexible Height Pet Carrier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00333AFVA
The dog plus the crate just squeezed through the weight limitation.
Be sure to know the under-seat clearance for the smallest aircraft on your route. We had to book Mom a first class ticket (although we would have anyway) because the coach under-seat clearance wasn't adequate. This limited our trip choices, since most of trips to our small west Texas town used an aircraft that had no business or first class seating.

1.2 Ah * 3.7V = 4.44 Wh
100 Wh > 4.44 Wh so you can take it onboard. Carry on.
They just called and told me that the reasoning was due to bad weather at LGA. Here's the hourly forecast for tomorrow. If we stuck to the original flight, I would have landed there at 9 am which as you can see, weather isn't a problem. My flight is pushed from 5pm to 7pm (as shown in the post) which as you can see there is severe weather coming in at that time. They also told me they won't refund me due to it being "bad weather"
When I called AA about our regional flight (Bombardier CRJ 700- Arizona to Billings MT) he told us carrier dimensions for that flight can't exceed "8 in x12 in x16 in" which is smaller than our bag. I got that carrier suggestion from someone else in this sub who recently traveled with their dog on AA just fine, but don't know if they had the same regional requirements.
Mr. Peanut's Airline Approved... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LSJOLU6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
We used this one. My dog was about 11-12 lbs and we had small things attached/in the pockets like paperwork, collapsible water bowl,treats,leash.... and the total weight was 15 or 16 lbs
YMMV but we were hassled on both ends of a LAX to PHL flight, using the Maskyeon carrier. On the first flight, the check-in agent had her supervisor come out to approve it after measuring it and telling us it was an inch too large (even though it contradicted some language on their web page). On the second flight, the check-in agent rudely refused it, and said the only reason she was going to allow us on the plane was because they couldn't leave us stranded.
We might give the Sherpa a chance next time (although honestly, we'd prefer to just not fly AA). In our case, we'd get a large, but your yorkie might be able to fit into a medium.
I dunno if this is the exact one i have but similar. Just is easier with the soft-sided ones since the seats can be different in each plane. Also gives them extra space out of the plane. https://www.amazon.com/MASKEYON-Approved-Expandable-Collapsible-Removable/dp/B081P14MJD/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2P2YN4WRB9DDP&dchild=1&keywords=pet+carrier+airplane+approved&qid=1625657202&sprefix=pet+carrier+airpl%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-7
