I don't think any camera offers this possibility by default.
That said, with some reasoning I would say: mesure the estimated distance between two moments in a capture at a specified interval of time adjust the time with refresh rate of the camera, divide the distance by the time it took travel it, convert the units into miles and hours and you should have your speed.
You may have more luck with some app on your phone e.g. :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coolniks.niksgps&hl=en
If you want something running several days to create some kind of database, then I am out of idea.

Good luck
You could use something like that, with an Arlo cam (no need for the floodlight)
Just to clarify, the original wire free Arlo cameras which use lithium 123 batteries do not have an Arlo approved constant power source (there are unsupported options). On the other hand, the Pro models can be powered using micro USB.
The Costco 3-camera kit will be $399 during BF weekend. I assume it will be available online as well. The 4-camera kit is probably still a better deal, but if you don't need 4 cameras you have the option.
There are cheap vinyl siding hooks you can use. No-Hole Clips for Arlo Pro 2, Arlo Ultra 4K, Arlo Pro, Arlo Pro 3 – Vinyl Siding Hooks Outdoor Cam Accessories for Mounting Wireless Home Security Camera Systems (10 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083BNG4PJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4HRK29Z8SF9G79B6TGZ7
Do you have an external battery charging station? If not, get one. I had four batteries that wouldn't charge through the cameras, but this charger was able to charge all of them and also gives a percentage readout while charging. I realized many of the batteries that I previously thought were fully charged were actually not. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MDVFF4P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V2YAENATEETQQVRT91EN
I added solar and appreciate no ladder climbing or extension cords. A couple of our cameras were really active due to nighttime critters (cats and coyotes mainly) and it's always windy here so trees and bushes. Then there are the rabbits and birds that like to walk around where they are aimed. Battery life sucked.
Now not as much is recorded, and I think Arlo changed something because I didn't. It picks up fewer things that go to the cloud, but still records it all to the USB drive locally.
Works for me!

I have uogw from Amazon and they work well and have metal mounts; Wasserstein has the ugliest two screw plastic mounts like those really cheap solar lights;
I use the gutter 1/8” male clamps which work well but Wasserstein has their solar panels on a screw pivot which doesn’t give you any other mounting option https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DHTD2CL/ref=ppx_yo_tab_ap_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are IP rated for outdoor use (except for the power plug which is USB male). I have the wires going into the house from an overhang that my roof provides. Now I’m powering the USBs with a POE CAT6 adapter here (it was new to me also). And the Apple products aren’t forever one, but for me I like it and it works for my scenario

Easy to install (single story home) and with 6 hours of sun a day they stay at 100% charge. With less sun the battery still maintains charge for the usual length of time.

I have the Ultra’s and have the same issue, I am in a somewhat high traffic area with both foot and vehicle traffic and the only way i get more than a few days or week on my cam‘s are with solar panels which is a pain when its raining or cloudy. I have purchased but not got around to installing these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TPM5FKC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
as I need to get outlets near them to do this or drill a hole big enough to get one of the ends through the wall to an inside outlet.
I came to the conclusion that you only get the long life if you live somewhere where is there no traffic or people and they are set down to the lowest level which misses too many events for me.
You can view it live without a flash drive, but without local storage or a cloud storage subscription, you can't view recordings even if they are within a few hours or days. I felt the same when my sub ran out, but the flash drive was actually the way to go. I bought the flashdrive below on sale and it works great and was easy to do. I actually feel like my recordings are better quality too, but I can't confirm.

Does she have vinyl siding? I have 5 cameras mounted with this hook but if you search for vinyl siding hook you can probably find others. These have withstood extremely strong winds (like talking 50mph gusts) and have been going strong for close to 2 years now. I use the magnetic mount screwed in with only one screw.
This is in no way a sales pitch but would an over the door security camera like this: DoorCam 2 Wireless Over-the-Door Smart Security: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L1SZSJQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_fA4.FbDC78QP8 -OR- A ring peephole camera work for your friend?
Wasserstein. Couldn't see a clear reason to get the official Arlo solar panel.
Edit: this one specifically is what I bought -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FKSLH9M/
im switching over to some cheap POE cameras to see how well they do. I feel like at this point, my standard is so low that I can't be let down any less lol

I did the same. The 20 ft cable are waterproof. I used the adaptors from Amazon as well. Works well.

Looks like Amazon has the Wasserstein one in stock. Really expensive though
I used this 3rd party one for my Pro 2's.
This works fine for me. I got it mainly because the AC adapter works with the Pro 2's (some of the earlier released outdoor cords required you to use the official Arlo AC adapter which came with your camera) and I need it's 20 ft cord length. As I said, working just great so far. They have a version in both white and black.
Just this week Arlo has re-released their own official outdoor cord:
Note that as I write this, Amazon is out of stock.
Here's a connector I found on Amazon. Would need to see if it fits into the back of the camera:
(I did successfully charge a camera using an iphone wall plug and random micro usb cable.)
For the most part yes sometimes when the sun hasn't been out for a week or so the battery will get so depleted that I have to bring it inside to charge but for the most part it works pretty good. I live in ohio BTW its cloudy a lot but you don't need full sun to start charging it can be a little cloudy. Today the sun was out for maybe an hour and the battery fully charged and its 32 degrees outside. In the summer its great never an issue with charging the battery. With all this said the Arlo Solar panel was the only one that worked I tried an off brand and it wouldn't charge. YMMV. I have this with gutter mounts on the camera and panel so I can move them pretty much anywhere on the gutters even if I can't reach them from the ground.
You could try this... https://www.amazon.com/Weatherproof-Outdoor-Adapter-Continuously-Charging/dp/B087BVYKG7/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3JIOX843KJUKH&keywords=arlo+pro2+outdoor+cable&qid=1666940961&sprefix=arlo+pro2+outdoor+cable%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-3 or even a solar panel designed for arlo...I'm guessing you have a Pro or Pro 2 setup.
I HIGHLY recommend this dual charger (https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-Rechargeable-Batteries-Charging/dp/B07MDVFF4P/ref=sr\_1\_1\_sspa?crid=2SMDGJNOP5Q9Q&keywords=arlo+pro+battery+charger&qid=1666940217&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjM0IiwicXNhIjoiMi45NyIsInFzcCI6IjIuNzMifQ%3D%3D... I do find it works best if plugged into the arlo wall wort or a laptop. I've had it for years and it's the best investment aside from additional batteries (the non arlo brands are crap...at least the ones I've seen). I always have a couple of batteries charging and when a camera needs it, I just pop it out where it is and pop in the new battery, then charge the dead one. Doesn't take long for it to charge up. (note, always go into the app and turn the camera off before taking the battery out to minimize the risk of having to re sync it to the base). I have 9 active Pro/Pro2 cameras and 3 extra batteries and rarely do I ever have to wait til one is charged to swap them out.
I’ve also considered this idea, using ifttt or similar to setup the trigger. I see that ifttt has the ability to trigger recordings for arlo:
So, the next challenge would be sensor placement. You’d probably want to place the sensor in a way that it ‘sees’ ahead and gives enough time for the arlo camera to startup the recording before the subject enters the frame.
This work around doesn’t change that the Arlo cams don’t really perform like I think they should to begin with…

Monoprice.com is often good for adapters and cables but a quick search didn’t find one on their site while I found the one above right away on Amazon.
Personally I hate wading through random brand stuff on Amazon. Half of it is junk. If anyone knows any good sites, shops or brands for USB adapters, please post here! :-)

If you have a subscription, you can set up activity zones HOWEVER that will only stop notifications. The wireless cameras/doorbell will still activate, record, send to the cloud for analysis and thus, run down the battery pretty quickly. If you don’t want to run a traditional doorbell transformer to power the Wired, you can look into something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Transformer-Thermostats-Compatible-Honeywell-Thermostat/dp/B07MT5VWQN
Doesn’t the Wasserstein spotlights one articulate enough to be ceiling mounted? You’d probably need to buy good, strong wall anchors for it, but it looks like it’d work if you’re willing to do the wiring work.
Wasserstein 3-in-1 Floodlight, Charger and Mount Compatible with Arlo Pro 3/Pro 4 & Arlo Ultra/Ultra 2 - Turn Your Arlo Camera into a Powerful Floodlight (White) (Arlo Camera NOT Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F9W291S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4Y2MSYK5HE1X0P7386YY
I’m sorry I don’t have an answer. I feel like someone with a 3D printer could whip one up, I wish I could help. I assume you’ve seen things like this? The dimensions might work with the Arlo doorbell.
I know confrontation isn’t worth it and neighborly peace is more important than being in the right sometimes, but security cameras have every legal right to record anything that’s visible from any point on your property. Including other people and their property.
I bought 2 of these

If you have a Costco membership, they throw in a solar panel charger for free.
These say they do, but I'd check. It's in the descriptor not the headline.
"ONE PANEL TO CHARGE YOUR ARLO CAMS - With our new Solar Panel for Arlo Pro, Arlo Pro 2 and Arlo Go "
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Outdoor-continuously-New-Charging/dp/B07FKSLH9M
What about the IeGeek systems? I been reading the different reviews on amazon and kind of like these due to they can record on their own card, work with a solar panel and don't require subscription.... etc
I just bought this one from Amazon for my Pro and it's been great so far. It was listed as used but did fully charge and has been working great.
https://www.amazon.com/Arlo-Accessory-Rechargeable-Battery-Compatible/dp/B01LYCMLY5
So if you have to make sure that you have a PoE switch or poe injectorso that it injects power to the cable. this is one example So the cable plugs into adapter, and you can plug your Arlo usb into that and it SHOULD work.
Amazon has it (black or white) for $5 more, but (there's always a but or an if) if you need to return it Amazon makes it very easy.
I still have one where there are a lot tree movements and the associated shadows. It's also a path for birds, cats, neighbors, and coyotes. I've got the activity zone pretty small, but if I shrink it any more I might as well not have it there.
And you just caused me to rethink where it is. I might just move it. Since they're hooked to solar panels I'm not worried about charging, and it might work better aimed down the side of the house. It will pick up most of what it does now without so much tree movement.
What I bought for solar. Easy to connect, but I live in a one story so the roof is low. They can be placed on the side of a house that gets sun. Six hours of sun a day will keep them charged.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B082XS2VXH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I appreciate your reply. I can certainly give another charger a try but how does it explain five other cameras with the exact same charger working just fine? I have them all mounted outdoors using six of the same charger. It’s a third-party charger because I couldn’t find anything made by Arlo for outdoors that was long enough. This charger was marketed for the Arlo Pro 2 series of cameras. Any idea the necessary specs?
Arlo Pro 3 here. I'm wireless except for the doorbell. Storing to a USB in the hub. The doorbell can be connected in place of the current doorbell and ring the Arlo chime. I didn't have an existing chime to use.
I've been charging the cameras with long cables
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXH4F53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but I ordered solar panels to power them.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B082XS2VXH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Connect the hub to an uninterruptible power supply.
The only problem I've run into is explained in a post I made. Support sucks. Luckily, I solved my problem (can't get a subscription due to wrong credit card on file that I can't replace on their site) by inserting a USB drive in the hub. I found out a little while ago that they extended my trial so I'm okay for now, but I'm not sure I'll subscribe since it's been a pain in the butt.
One issue when setting up was connectivity. Our house is stucco which has chicken wire under it. Causes loss of signal when setting up, so I took everything in house close to the router and got it all connected. When I placed everything out side it connected and has done so since.
I would try something with a small suction cup on the end like the link below shows or maybe a magnet would pull it out.
https://smile.amazon.com/ABN-Valve-Lapping-Grinding-2-Piece/dp/B079G5Y2KN/ref=sr_1_2?crid=VDZ4OI3K49VH&dchild=1&keywords=suction+cup+on+a+stick&qid=1614370232&sprefix=suction+cup+on+%2Caps%2C205&sr=8-2
Do you have a basement? Transformers are often tied to the joists for easy access. If not look in closets next to the old doorbell or if the doorbell is by the attic access pop the panel and check rafters, etc.
This is the transformer I bought since our old one shot craps.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQY88I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Arlo Pro 3 here.
Word of mouth. Various friends, business acquaintances, etc all like theirs. Some use them inside as well as out.
Doorbell, chime, three cameras, base. I am pleased with the system.
While setting the cameras up I was having difficulty with connectivity. Then I remembered that our stucco walls have chicken wire in them. I pulled each camera, the doorbell, chime and base into an area close to the router, got them connected, placed them, and they all connect flawlessly.
The video quality is excellent, they track movement, and managing them through the app is easy. I have found that there is one I need to turn off when it's windy. It picks up bush and tree movements. Meh. I wait until the wind dies down and turn it back on. So far it has caught a hummingbird being curious, and coyotes twice, which we report to our governing committee so they know to look for a den if it's close - retirement community.
I consider thee subscription fee to be cheap insurance, and I'm going to add an SD card to the base for local storage.
I found a 20 foot charging cable on Amazon and it reaches all but one easily. I have extension cords so that's not a problem.
Cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXH4F53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Agreed. I have several of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078MRS8G8
$12 for two was a good deal, and they’re sturdy. There’re “permanent” mount, using screws, but have the range of motion the OP is describing.
I’m with you, I got a guy coming in to install these. Ready to get off the Arlo train. The Arlo doorbell is next.
Maybe you can buy another brand of solar charger. I purchased 3 cameras for my camera and everything is running normally. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KSV1J9V?ref=myi_title_dp
I found that the official solar power is 2W/5V, which is too small. I purchased another 3.5W/5V solar panel charger. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KSV1J9V?ref=myi_title_dp
They sell power adapters specifically for the doorbell, so you don't need to complication of a transformer and resistor. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Wasserstein-Supply-Adapter-Compatible-Doorbell/dp/B07GGZ8HZV/
They sell unofficial adapters on Amazon for powering the Arlo Video Doorbell.
Here's one example: https://www.amazon.com/Wasserstein-Supply-Adapter-Compatible-Doorbell/dp/B07GGZ8HZV/
I bought an adapter from amazon that fits into the battery compartment. I’ve en using them exclusively for about 4 months now because he constant use of batteries just very wasteful and was expensive.
You talking about the AC adapter or the cable itself? The AC adapter is the one that came with the Arlo Camera and the cable i purchased off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Uperatre-Charger-Android-Charging-Controller/dp/B07S6LYD3G/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=USB+to+micro+usb+cable+40+ft&qid=1561124146&s=electronics&sr=1-3
I ended up buying several 30' power cables designed for the cameras from Amazon and running them to power outlets. I'm happy with them.

What I’m proposing is to use the existing wiring to create an outdoor usb outlet. Solder it inside a breaker box near where the camera is at and now you can use any regular length cable be that micro USB or magnetic. I’ve attached an amazon link open for interpretation.
I know it’s more work than you asked for but it would safer than adding adapters and the efforts would future proof it more too.
I set up the Arlo 2 and lights with POE with an adapter on amazon...

All of my cameras are hardwired too, I use these https://www.amazon.com/POPMAS-Charging-Resistance-Thickness-Security/dp/B077M5DV8R?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
I currently have 15 of these cables and have been running them since the beginning of September and have had no problems with them. The cables are a bit thicker (roughly 3/16") and require a bigger hole to run them through a wall, but they have worked great for me so far.

I've tried Wasserstein before, I bought the mounts off Amazon and they wouldn't tighten up good enough to hold my cameras at the angles I wanted them, so I returned them, and didn't want to take a chance with the wires.
The round base station is less capable. Primarily for two reasons:
Remember, you can always buy the "better" base station separately: https://smile.amazon.com/Arlo-Accessory-Station-Compatible-Cameras/dp/B071LR42ZP/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=arlo+pro+2+base+station&qid=1575411205&sr=8-3
In the case of those links you posted, Costco's model ($279) plus the better base station ($79) is still cheaper (total of $360) than that Amazon package ($427).
https://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Lithium-Photo-Batteries-6-Pack/dp/B0036QL1JY
I use these for my original Arlo cameras still going strong. The Energizer batteries last longest by far that I have found. None of the rechargeable will last as long.
Dug this from the depths of my amazon order history: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007NG5UEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kQQsCb9NNEW5R
Any old audio monitor will work. We got this unit before we sprung for Arlo Baby’s. Then we had an RF video monitor for a few years after that. That also works well still and have left the cameras mounted in case we need it as a backup.
If you don’t want to use the method i posted above to get alerts on google home, then you could always buy a zwave chime. Cheaper option than arlo chime.
Are you talking about the half-spherical magnetic mount? There are actually two other official outdoor mounts made by Arlo as well as some 3rd party ones. The two official ones are:
and
I use the latter one as it has the smaller diameter tightening nut as discussed above. There are some similar 3rd party ones, but some are plastic and some are metal so look at the description carefully. Based on the reviews, you definitely want a metal one, no matter who makes it. Again, I use the official Arlo one which is metal. Just be aware of the nut diameter issue if you buy one of the 3rd party ones.
yeah i was going to buy this one , im worried it wont work.
Well my plug is indoors in my garage and the camera is under an awning so not too much rain. But i bought the Wassertein Cable and it seems to fit in snug. I have the official arlo base it wouldnt fit on my offbrand base because it was too bulky. I also had to use the charger that came with my arlo pro. Some newer units come with a charger.
I use:
I got it mainly because I need the 20 ft length. I use it with two outdoor mounted cameras and it works fine.
The 3rd party cords that first came out required you to use the AC charger which came with your Arlo camera. Later, the third party manufacturers figured out Arlo's AC charger specs and are now making available cords with their own chargers. That is the difference between the ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````$11-$13 chargers and the $25 chargers you see on Amazon. The latter come with their own AC chargers.
A little late to the party, but I have an external hard drive connected to this A/B switch, which is connected to both my base station and a desktop computer. Whenever I want to view the saved files on the computer, I can just hit the button to switch what the drive is connected to, and the drive connects to the desktop so I can do with the files as I please.
Just got mine from Amazon a few days ago. Comes with a mount but it is only for the panel, not camera/panel combo mount. It's the same mount sold for the Arlo Pro. It also comes with a 6 foot charging cable. Amazon link
Use 3m vhb tape and a surface mount. Mount them onto the window frames or a clean flat surface. Use it sparingly. VHB tape is crazy strong and can be hard to remove if you use too much.
