Don't use gimp if you value your sanity. Check out https://krita.org/ its like an free and open source version of photoshop. Best of all it doesn't have an UI/UX that only inspires anger like the one in gimp.
If you're planning to edit in Resolve you could just import all the clips, then either use the Blade tool or set In and Out points to put all the relevant parts of each clip together in the way you want, and then export that all together. There should be no need to cut, then export in order to work on it again. Read Chapter 2 (Assembling a Rough Cut) of the Davinci Resolve Definitive Guide.
Download it off their website. There’s a free version that’s very good.
If you want the newest version (15) then go here https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/
If you need 12 then look around on this page, it should be on the left side wayyyyyyy down.

Hope this helps!
I've got a bunch of the SDI->HDMI and vice versa in my fly rack - same problem as you. Each micro converter has very low power draw (less than 5W), so I bought a seven outlet USB hub that makes the cable management much easier, and quite compact to boot.
This is the one I bought from Amazon - but there are dozens of others. The main risk with units like this is that they become a single point of failure for ALL of your converters. Buy a reputable one!
On the upside, using an actual USB hub to power your converters also allows you to connect it to a computer and have the whole lot of them connected at once for firmware updates :-)
Resolve has very basic audio. I have not found it to be very inviting. For simple mixing it works ok.
If you are looking for something cheap/free, checkout https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/
I'm confused why don't you use the built-in collaboration tools.. Also DR has built-in integration with frame.io.
The project server is there to serve up to all stations anywhere in the world. It's not plug-and-play for internet work but the infrastructure is absolutely there.
I think 16.2.7 but just got to the resolve17 page and click to download. Two versions will be in the popup. Just get that version of 16.
Not beta.
Do you mean Studio? I must have missed it in the stream and there's no mention of here.
I was thinking about getting another copy of Resolve Studio but if I can get the Speed Editor and Studio for $4 cheaper then it's a no brainer.
You can download training books with materials from Black Magic design webiste for free, or watch their YouTube tutorials.
Helped me alot.

It’s funny you mention an HDMI splitter because this came in the mail yesterday:
It doesn’t work. I plug the monitor and Atem in, plug it in the CPU tower and nothing. Did I not buy the right one?

I’m streaming live from or recording direct onto the Atem using the following setup. My Scarlett 2i2 is connected to the ATEM Mini Pro and a Shure Sm58 microphone (also attached to a CloudLifter) using this cable:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MTDHH47/
It’s a single mic setup, so you’ll have the problem of a mono track going into the Atem, but it does work. Set your Atem to use line input.
You may need to set the audio delay on your mic in the Blackmagic Atem Software Control panel to sync the audio with your cameras.
As others have stated, you could also try embedding the audio into the HDMI stream of two of the cameras instead of going through the Scarlett.

Thank you so much for the response!
That is a great question. I had no idea that an SDI capture card existed! I just started researching how to hook up this JVC camera and have no experience with running an external camera to OBS, let alone an old broadcast, albeit a very nice one.
I was under the impression that an SDI to HDMI 3G Micro Converter would do it. Before last week I didn't even know what a capture card was.
The only camera I have run through OBS is my phone running Irium Webcam.
Would the SDI capture card be a single point in the daisy chain?
Is this something that would work?
Thank you

You can use a viltrox speed booster for only $218 if you want to use a sigma 18-35. From what I’ve seen it works well but you lose the tap to focus. The metabones speed booster works with tap to focus so it’s a trade off for a lower price.

It runs Resolve with no issues.
You can get the 17" version of this laptop for exactly the same price as the $1,899 15" right now.
The 17" is reviewed here.
Blazing fast machine with a great display. Downsides: no touch screen, the camera is at the top of the keyboard instead of the top of the screen and the lighted keyboard doesn't light the superscript characters (e.g., !@#$%^&*(), etc.).
Otherwise, a great laptop for creators.
Hope this is helpful and good luck finding the right laptop for your needs!

I have something similar. I’ll say it helps so much in color grading. I use the xrite color checker
Using it in resolve is pretty easy. You can resize the color checking box, In resolve, to match the size of the card. You may need to rotate it some but that’s easy. It definitely helps get the color right. If you want I can send you a clip with the color checker in the shot so you can play around with it some.
My only gripe with the card I have is the size and packaging. It’s a small card, barely larger than a business card. It is heavy duty construction paper feel, and comes in two layers of packaging.
Yeah the permit fix is switching from the Zoom H4 to something like the Tascam DR-40X. Hopefully you are still within your return window.
The quick fix is stretching Zoom Recorder audio.
The best fix is figuring out the exact drag speed. Record for about 100 minutes with two devices. Have your computer beep at 5 seconds in and then again at 100 minutes and 5 seconds. Trim your camera audio and your Zoom audio to the beeps and then stretch the WAV file to fit to the camera audio. Figure out the exact percentage to stretch by and have that written down that you can copy and paste to any clip duration. I say 100 since it will be 10x more likely to be precise than just 10 min.
If you're curious about what device I have used and recommend, this is it.

This is the particular one I have. One thing I have run into using this is it gets kinda touchy depending on the resolution/framerate the ATEM Mini is set to. It's been awhile since I've used it with it but I think that it got weirded out if it was set to 59.94 instead of 60 or 29.97 instead of 30. Something like that.
If I may say, double check your cables. Get a good HDMI cable to the ATEM Mini HDMI out and make sure it's getting enough power over the Type-C power port. I've had some issues with lower quality cables lol.
Just want to point out that m.2 is a form factor and not a drive protocol type. m.2 comes in both a SATA (b-key) and an nVME (m-key) format (some drives even support both). That being said- you could get an m.2 b-key with a 2.5" sata to m.2 b-key converter (https://www.amazon.com/a/dp/B00ITJ7U20) if the only thing you can find are m.2 drives.
Just a clarification for anyone who reads this comment but doesn't read the whole chain- since CFast (the adapter OP is using) uses the SATA protocol the drive used in the adapter must be a SATA drive.

For context, I bought a used 5" Video Assist (I believe it's the original one). I'm trying to connect it to my Sony PMW F3 to record 10 bit externally so I bought this BNC to Micro BNC cable, because I read that the 5" 3g model takes micro bnc, and the ports on the video assist I have looked the same. Unfortunately, the micro bnc doesn't fit. I'm looking to order a new cable but I'm not sure what size, and the user manual doesn't provide any additional info. Any help is much appreciated, thanks

Here's useful stuff you can add in to and use in Resolve. As far as templates and the like, I'm still fairly new and unsure where to source them too. Hope these are of use though!
Color starts with your set. If you Google the “color palette” of your favorite movies you’ll find some interesting images that show how much thought goes into props, locations wardrobe etc to make an aesthetically appropriate or expressive pallet. Also get the image of a color wheel burned into your head. Check out thiS Adobe Color Tool Adobe Color Tool. It’s a great way to play around and find complimentary, tritiary etc. then figure out how to manipulate your color curves in davinci or Premier. You can shift hues to restrict your pallet and get real fancy. That’s where you get the fancy turquoise blues and oranges you see way too much nowadays in film LUT’s and whatnot. Also yes, you should have killed the overhead lights. I find myself almost always killing overheads and relying on what practicals are available or lights/soft boxes that we have available.
Glad you got some new gear that you love but remember it’s all about technique and REPETITION! Keep shoot shoot shooting!!! And keep poking those buttons in your edit suite. Thanks for sharing!
Not sure if it is possible to create a video file that is transparent in parts.
What you can do is export it to a video file and then on a new project make the black background transparent with the colour tab using the qualifier for black colour, inverse the selection so you have selected all that is not black, and put that on top of another clip.

Not clear why you think that you cannot edit audio without video. You should be able to bring audio to the timeline on the Cut, Edit or Fairlight pages. As a matter of fact, you can do some amazing things in with audio in the Fairlight page. You should look into some tutorials. BlackMagic Design has complete training videos on line for free.

It’s possible the ax60 footage got corrupted in some minor way. I’d use handbrake to make a copy and see if that works. Steps as requested.
Color probe:
More something like this one. I think the one you linked is strangely specific to Wacom.
Monitor doesn't need a thunderbolt. You'll be using the HDMI connection.
Either a BenQ PD2725U or a BenQ PD2700U. When you talk about a color probe is this the sort of thing you're talking about?
Will this be compatible with any monitor and is it easy to use?
Better yet, maybe a Low Z, Female XLR to High Z 1/4-Inch Phone Plug may give me some more clean gain with less noise. Then I can use any length XLR cable to attach the 6kpro to the interface. This would be good because I have really nice Mogami xlr cables I'm not using.

Can I use something like this to have less connection to connection? Would it give more stable connection?
Well, iMovie (mobile & desktop) is free, you can disable iCloud (any recurring costs) so I wouldn't worry too much about that if you did cave and elect for an iPad or some such.
Pretty sure you could use Adobe Premiere Rush free tier, but it is a little less kid-friendly than iMovie IMO.
Just go here and scroll down to the “Davinci Resolve” button.
You might supplement this with some screenshots.
From the information you’ve given something is probably muted. I’d look at the video for Fairlight here and maybe the first intro to editing video..to make sure you know the various ways a track or clip can be muted.
If you decide to follow the official training for Resolve you might want BRAW Player.
Keep Project Server, and maybe RAW Speed Test.
Just for clarification, is this the correct DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 beta I need to download then?
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/studio
Once I install this it will ask me for the activation key?
I always recommend the official training BMD offers for learning Resolve. 17’s still in beta, so I’d suggest sticking with 16.
Full disclosure: I’m a mod over at r/davinciresolve but it’s more active for Resolve-specific questions.
If book learning's your thing, Blackmagic Design has some official training that includes media. Here's the direct link. Advanced Editing does say it's for Resolve 15 but 99% of it still applies to 16.
Learn Fusion. It is very powerful and honestly, not very difficult to use. In fact, once you start using it, you will start thinking in nodes.

I highly recommend the Fusion tutorials on their website (the training book at the bottom of the page is awesome). And once you get the hang of that, if you really want to get deep into Fusion effects, check out Vito on his channel, Con-Fusion. He is very talented, a good teacher, and quite entertaining.
Weirdly I didn't have any running or updating. Photoshop, After effects, lightroom, and games ran perfectly. I deleted all the caches, changed the cache drive and folder etc. Uninstalled and reinstalled Davinci resolve and Graphic drivers. Nothing seemed to work.
Ultimately what worked was.
1. Uninstalling Davinci Resolve
2. Searching for "davinci" (in everything search) and deleting all folders it left then rebooted.
BECAREFUL TO NOT DELETE THE SUPPORT FOLDER IN APPDATA. THAT'S WHERE YOUR DATABASE IS SAVED BY DEFAULT. I just renamed it to "support backup." When I reinstalled Dacinci resolve and it generated the new support and preferences folder I just imported the database folder from the support backup.
3. Used Disk cleanup and CCleaner to clean all temp files and clean up window's registry.
4. Rebooted and reinstalled Davinci, attached the old database and opened the project. Allowed it to generate the cache and it was okay.
Not exactly sure what caused the issue or which of the steps above fixed it but it's working now.
I had to back into it to find it in the sonic app. Get every thing from https://www.voidtools.com. It will catalog your whole system. Once done, you can filter your search on your c drive to see if that is your problem. Btw when I looked t the devinci logs, I did show an audio error which was my clue that that was my problem.
What camera control are you after? Just start/stop or more detailed? I just require start/stop and use this very effective Android app to do just that. To change any other setting is something I see as pointless, especially when using a gimbal, as then you really need another set of hands to use a mobile phone app while holding the gimbal.

Ah I tweaked the webserver a config a bit so it doesn't show up as plain text when flatpak isn't installed. I think you need to run through the flatpak installation steps for manjaro first:
1a - The colour scheme seems a little bold/saturated. Perhaps check out a colour scheme generator (https://coolors.co/) or use Paletton to find a good combination of monochromatic or complementary colours: http://paletton.com 1b - If you go for vibrant colours, increase the opacity to keep more of the colour; if you go for a dark colour scheme, decrease opacity to make the letters 'pop'. 2 - Perhaps keep the border solid? It's a little distracting seeing it semi-transparent on the black bars around the screen,. 3 - I'd go for white text over the grey/semi-transparent you have now. Also, maybe make the overall font style a little bolder. 4 - Looks like the edges of the shapes are aliased (too sharp/pixelated). Maybe add a very small blur (0.1) to soften the edges/corners? 5 - Depending on what the product is, consider the animation style. Right now you have skewed shapes and text with a bounce - 'fun' product. If you're pitching something more serious (based on the music and content, I'm guessing this is a more serious subject), go for non-skewed shapes (no roundness) and no bouncing animation. Maybe have the text fade in, or just slide in from off screen. I'm pretty partial to rounded corners on boxes, but then I'd opt to have more 'uplifting' music to accommodate it.
>Do you know to what extent Resolve leverages (nVidia) GPUs?
Resolve loves CUDA. Every time Apple breaks CUDA support in OS X High Sierra, Resolve 14 (mixed 4k and 1080p clips) chugs along between 8-12 FPS on a 2013 Macbook Pro.
Production houses will buy workstations with as much as 4 1080ti or Titan XP cards if they are working with RED RAW footage and doing VFX.
Resolve is fast because it's optimized for multicore and CUDA.

>What kind of size differences have you seen between Cineform and DNxHD?
Generally small. I guess about 50 MB per minute of footage between Cineform and DNxHD (1080p @ 60 fps)
>Does DNxHD or Cineform support PCM audio?
Yes, I've trancoded 4K MP4/AAC to Cineform with 16-bit PCM. Adobe Media Encoder was used for transcode.
To circle back to your AAC audio problem, it's a known issue on Ubuntu and Fedora due to political reasons wich date back to the early days of Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, you have to install support for "Restricted Formats". https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

Fusion in Resolve is quite complete. You mainly give up network rendering, super large format rendering, Primatte 5 Keyer, and such. Blackmagic Design is really good about providing Resolve as feature complete and charging for the items that are a real value to studio level work. This is a really good strategy in my opinion.
Check out the feature comparison.
I made some presets at the bottom of Downloads section:
https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/#downloads
You can also click on "VBR" (next to "Scale:" settings) until you get "CQ" and choose from worst to best quality easily.
I recommend to export a Master file with DNxHR codec (or ProRes) then compress with Shutter Encoder with "H.264" function, read FAQ Q.17 for best settings or use YouTube presets from website downloads section.
Matroska (MKV) is not a codec. It's a video container file format comparable to MOV, MXF, AVI, MP4 etc. All of these file types can contain many different types of video (and audio) such as H.264 (aka. x264 aka. MPEG4 AVC), H.265 (aka. x265 aka, HEVC), VP8, VP9 etc. Those are the codecs (aka. encoding methods).
So in short, if the codecs inside the MKV are already supported by Resolve, it would be a waste of time and video quality to convert the file with a tool like Handbrake. You can see the codec types by loading the MKV in VLC and press Ctrlj+J. Stream 0 codec is the video codec... But if you recorded it with OBS, you can also just see the codec you used in there.
So if we assume the codec was H.264 or another supported one, you can simply switch the container file format to MOV or MP4 with a program that supports remuxing (aka. streamcopy aka. re-wrapping). My preferred GUI tool (Windows only) is Xmedia Recode. But you can also use AVIdemux and others.
To change the container in a few seconds in Xmedia do the following:
Install, start and load the MKV
Set output format to Custom>MP4 and pick a destination.
On the Video tab: Set Mode = Copy. Do the same on the Audio tab.
... If you just need to cut/trim the video and not do some fancy video editing, you can actually do that in Xmedia on the Filters/Preview tab. Just use the [ and ] buttons to set the start and end point of the sequence you want to keep.
Finally click Add to queue > Encode in the top toolbar
... And 5 seconds later you have your 1:1 copy of your video - now in an MP4 container.
Happy remuxing & editing.
You are right!
I wish they would just add that one feature to the free version. Hardware acceleration would make me want to use this program more. I don't want to spend hours working on transcoding just so I can edit when my deadlines can be tight. If it had hardware acceleration and I got hooked on the software, I would probably spend the $300.
As of now, my main editor has been Olive (https://www.olivevideoeditor.org)
It's alpha software and lacks features, as it's a newcomer to the FOSS community...but it destroys everything else I have used on Windows & Linux performance wise. It's wrote from the ground up to be hardware accelerated. It performs well even on my fairly modest system (i7 7700HQ, GTX 1050 4GB, 16GB RAM).
Okay, in that case, I would suggest your colorist takes a look at the Color Correction Training book; it has a whole section on conforming projects via an XML timeline, and they run through a few random errors you might run into.
Thanks for the survey check! These file sizes are very manageable. Regarding the manual. Hey there! Thank you. I actually have some suuuuuper basic After Effects knowledge–essentially whatever I learned from following along with YT tutorials. Here's the video I followed to make this particle system. I just came across another thread in here where someone was asking for Fusion help, and learned that Blackmagic Design actually provides tons of free training about each system in Resolve, i.e. Editing, Fairlight, Color, and Fusion. I'll be looking into those this weekend. Here's a link to that!

If you scroll down to Training Books, you can access The Beginner’s Guide to DaVinci Resolve 16 for free, as well as more specific manuals on editing, audio, color grading, etc. individually. :)
Hey there, I am not too familiar with OBS stuff for live streaming or broadcast, but as far as learning Resolve, and downloading files to work with, have you checked out Blackmagic’s site for some downloadable content and videos for working with Resolve, both from an editing and color perspective?
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training
If you’re looking at it on a phone, you can swipe on the editing section — they’ll run you through color, VFX, Fairlight, etc... looks like it has downloadable videos, content etc... there’s also some good PDF’s below if you’re the reading type.
I personally used Ripple Training as they’re a certified BMD training partner, and their videos are super intuitive and the guys teaching are down to earth. There’s quite a few on their site and they run the full gamut; I bought one a while back where the colorist was just sharing his screen over a long grading procedure on something he was working on; so you can see his workflow. I went thru some of the the classes in person offered by FMC (another BMD approved partner) as well... but for my learning type and the way I like to learn, I found the online videos and training tutorials more helpful, plus I could refer back to them often... some ppl keep em open while working to go back to it... color grading Central was another one, but I realize you’re not focused on the grade, rather possibly core training.
That said, Black Friday is around the corner, so whichever model you choose, there should be some great sales all around for tutorial packages.
I wish I could be of more help with your other questions but off the top of my head, these may provide a solid starting point... i wish you much success with your journey and hope when you look back next year you’re amazed by the growth and how far you’ve come.
I use Adobe Premiere on Windows 10 at my full time job and at home I use DaVinci Resolve on Linux for my clients (weekend jobs). Since last two day I use DaVinci Resolve at my job and convinced my boss to use it and soon we will have Black Magic equipment.
You should look at minimum requirements for Mac.
The way of editing(edit page or edit tab) is almost similar to Premiere. I think you need just a day play around with Resolve to know how to use it. For example for zoom in timeline it's "Ctrl +" and in Premiere it's only "+". Some shortcuts are a bit different. You learn it very fast.
Adjusting the image like transform, opacity and such in Premiere it's behind the source monitor while in Resolve at the right side called inspector.
Setting up a multi editing on Resolve is easier then Premiere (my opinion).
The color tab is very advanced and very highly recommended. It's node based system.
Fusion tab where you can do VFX and motion graphics but you need to get comfortable with node system. It's different then layer based system like After Effects.
Fairlight tab is adjust the audio similar to Adobe Audition.
On Black Magic website you will find good basic training for all those tabs.
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training
Of course on youtube you will find more basic and advanced tutorials.
They added a new tab called "Cut". This is a new way of editing for rough and quick edit and it has direct export(upload) to youtube and vimeo from the timeline. Also from Edit tab.
The media tab is where you organize your footage and it's metadata.
Deliver tab is to export your video's.
Before I forget, I shoot often separate audio from video and it has a great auto sync.
Happy editing :)

Their own training series of videos and .pdf versions of the manuals are available on their website. As far as plugins, etc. go most manufacturers make an ofx version that works with resolve. On the audio side vst’s work as well as others. Really depends on what you are looking for. I haven’t seen any templates specifically for resolve, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work with .png files and animate them yourself. It’s a pretty straightforward process, especially if you have used keyframes before.
They just released a Fusion training book, free download.

Recently, Blackmagic has released a series of training videos that can get you started pretty quickly. Here is the link: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training
On their product page for it, one of the features listed is "True 3d Compositing". Is it a gimped version of the Fusion version? I wish they made it more clear.
You can use something like https://freefilesync.org/ or if you want to copy it manually https://www.codesector.com/teracopy will verify all your files are there. When I’m working on a project I usually work off 2 external drives. One main with all my media and one backed up. You could do the same with an internal drive and an external drive.
Oh man so glad to see some BMCC 2.5k love here. It's BETTER than the BMCC 4K (1 or 2 stops more)
Let's count it up shall we:
Records in 2.5k Cinema DNG Which you will NEVER see again on BM (Also DnXHD and PRORES 422) Show me another camera with THAT combination of formats. 12bit / 10bit
The MFT mount is by far the best (vs EF) due to crop factor allowing for speed booster (Seriously, EF on a crop sensor? I don't get it)
12 Stops, 13.5 or so with SpeedBooster
Records directly to SATA 6Gbps SSD, Edit directly on disk. SUPER CHEAP.
Stereo Line / Mic Level TRS Balanced Inputs (no phantom, but Saramonic makes a CUSTOM made XLR to TRS Phantom Power injector with levels, peak, etc. LINK $60
The battery sucks but the DC Jack is rated for any voltage from 12v to 30v (This is awesome because you can use 19v/20v Laptop Power Adapters) Standard 2.5/5.5 Jack.
It has a FREAKING THUNDERBOLT PORT. The Ultrascope software is actually incredible for learning how to expose properly and seeing scopes in realtime is pretty neat.
SDI Output with SMTPE
Iris and Focus control input
I mean seriously the list goes on and on. ALSO, until about a year ago, you could get one for $500, now they are going back UP in price, sitting around $1000.
There are somewhat expensive ways, with specific timecode generators such as Tentacle Syncs, or very inexpensive ones such as an Android app that I use, LTC Timecode Generator.
I've been using this for a while and it works perfectly. All you need to do is open up the app, connect the phone via 3.5mm cable to the 3.5mm input on the BMPCC6K, you'll need a BNC to 3.5mm for the C70, press run and it sets the timecode. Connect the phone to any other device that accepts timecode and press run and everything is aligned.
I've tested this out with both my BMPCC4Ks and Zoom F6 and there is no perceivable drift. And if you're at all concerned, just repeat at regular intervals. Its' so quick and easy to do and Resolve just matches everything up automatically with a couple of clicks.
You would need an HDMI in and then view. Much easier is a 1080p HDMI monitor.
I use this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B076GZVCP2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It is also useful for inside a teleprompter set up with an HDMI camera that has mirror setting to do intimate interviews where the person and look into the teleprompter camera and talk directly to you.
No, I'm not using any of those as for my use case I need to be able to record several terabytes per day(up to 4)
I have a pair of seagate SATA 8 TB drives in one of these.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6L5CJF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have tested the write speeds to the drives and they are at a solid 160 megabytes/second which should be more than enough for 1080p 30 FPS camera streams coming from the 8 ports.
Two of the times that the record button locked on and I ended with absolutely nothing on the drive was a LaCie 500gb.
I built a rack mount power supply that can power 10 devices with DC jacks (and 2 with XLR-4 plugs.) The internals are pretty simple, just a DC power supply and some self-resetting fuses. I made it slightly fancier with a power and voltage meter on the front.
A DC PSU and some barrel jack leads (from Amazon) are really all you need.
I just use a lemo cable to plug directly into the v-mount. My v-mount is on rails and swappable.
Here's the cable.
V-mount. I've got several v-mounts including the 195Wh one of these, and it will give you 4+ hours.

I would use an SSD reader like this one.
You can also use FTP by connecting to the Hyperdeck's IP address. No username or password needed. FTP is slower than direct USB transfer though.
Despite being based upon solid state memory, SD cards can wear out and this is what may have happened here.
A cheap / easy test to see if there is something wrong with your camera vs. with your card; is to purchase a Kingston Canvas Select Plus SD card. The linked card below works to record raw on my OG BMPCC without issue.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07ZGFPTDZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Is his the OG 2.5k BMCC? https://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Design-Cinema-Camera-MFT/dp/B00A4NPTMC

Man I loved that camera. Anyway, like u/planedrop says, you probably just need to format it. There should be no reason that SSD should not work.
