I do not just last night the new charger was delivered and I love it. Was just raving to my wife about it. It charges both cells fully rather than the USB which only charges one cell partially and another fully.
Heres the one I highly recommend
You're safe to use the basic charger till you get the better one of course id just get the better charger for better results.

I hope you solve your problem and share with us when you do. I personally run this servo in my TRX4 and have been less than gentle with no problems so far.
I ordered these off of amazon and then removed the resistor on the actual light strip (per the reviews). Then I mounted them on the inside of the lexan shell. They were bright on 6V, but I'm running the Hobbywing 1080 BEC at 7.4V and they're really silly bright.
Gotcha. I was just concerned about frying them with 7.4v
The Traxxas micro servos are only rated to 6v but I found out the ones I already swapped in the TRX6 are rated for 7.4v 🤙🏼

There is another thread that I just answered with a very similar issue, but the exact same thing happened to me. Played with it on Christmas morning and afterwards used the included USB charger to let it charge up. It would only move a little bit, but the wheels would turn and the LEDs would light. I did some research and came to the conclusion that the stock charger is a piece of crap and I bought this replacement. After getting that it charged right up and I've been using it reliably ever since.
This is a widespread issue, so I would bank on it being a shitty charger and not a blown motor.
Hey, I got the Jeep for Christmas and the exact same thing happened to me. Once the 'factory' charge wore off I wasn't able to get it to work with the included charger. All it would do is light the LEDs and turn the wheels. Sometimes it would poorly attempt to move forward. I did a bunch of research and apparently the stock charger is hot garbage and doesn't work, just Google it. I ended up buying this charger from Amazon and it has been perfect. It just sucks having to wait a couple of days to play with your new toy!
Thanks buddy, I’m in Minnesota so that is why the tracked version sparked my interest, and it looks like tracks are pretty pricey https://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-TRX-4-Complete-ultimated-Traction/dp/B07RG7CTSC/ref=asc_df_B07RG7CTSC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=343224617698&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11555132172107789430&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071S221P5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DUn-FbGJ21C9N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Pretty simple actually.
I ordered these tracks ;
They come with little round spacer type things that are meant to lock into the axles of the WPL/Perseids military truck. Those axles are a little different than the C14 axles.
I had to glue the spacers/locators to the stock C14 axles. If you’re doing this, beware. You won’t be able to split the axles open anymore without removing the glue and the spacer piece.
Far from the most difficult mod I’ve had to make but still a little finicky to figure out!
Other than a 2 or 3s lipo and charger a good hex driver set is really nice to have for maintenance and repairs. Not a must but way better than trying to use the little L shaped ones that come with most kits. I've got this one but there are lots of cheaper options too.
That's the thing, it's not advertised ANYWHERE yet. This is the one I purchased on Amazon.
Make sure you purchase from RadioLink Direct, with amazon fulfillment.
Sonoran Scale Studios on Youtube has done a few videos on cheap Injora tires. Most have been not great, but he really liked these ones, they are Proline Krawler knock-offs. I've not tried them myself but I'm thinking about picking up a set to try out. For $25 why not?
It depends on your end goal. I looked for figures with lots of points of points of articulation because I prefer not to modify them if I can avoid it. Rotation in the thighs is a huge help if you don't to chop their legs off, and the more the merrier for the arms. More points of articulation, that is, not more arms. Two arms is the proper number.
If you're looking at Amazon and you have patience, you can usually get pretty good McFarlane figures for about $15. Every one of them that I have wanted has gone on sale for $12-$15, down from $25 or so. For example, this Ciri from Witcher is a killer deal, and very highly articulated.
you can get a Turbo racing Tx/Rx from about £25-35
they do a more expensive version with more features and multi model memory for about £50
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ZHITING-91803G-VT-RadioTransmitter-Channels-Controller/dp/B08MQ4GK2B
I bought these and they are amazing for building rc kits, cutting the parts out of those plastic frames with tabs. Perfect flush cut
I’m going to buy a couple more sets. I think like $8-10 at Home Depot
https://www.amazon.com/Cutter-Lightweight-Klein-Tools-D275-5/dp/B000GTMZHG
1/10 scale can be big and heavy to carry on a hike, especially when you bring spare battery packs. 1/24 scale can be just as fun but are smaller and lighter. You can carry several in a back pack along with a bunch of spare batteries.
They're not that expensive either. You can buy some pretty decent RTR ones brand new for +or- US$100.

Good quality model and he does test prints to be sure it works. I printed the van body on my CR-10 Mini and it worked out great. I expect to do lots of priming and sanding to get it to look nice.
This guy also has some good stuff. Can't speak to the quality but it looks good from the photos.

What are your pros/cons on those two trucks? I floated so many choices and ended up with a TRX-4 I found on Facebook Marketplace for $315 in nearly brand new condition. Saw a good amount of SCX10IIs on there as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the current trucks but I feel like the SCX has a far more extensive aftermarket support.
Facebook Marketplace is a goldmine for people who aren't super into the hobby offloading stuff for lower than it should sell for. I figured out you can mess with the URL to search the entire country without being limited to the maximum of 100 miles a particular city/hometown. This is my TRX4 search I kept running: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/la/search/?query=trx4&radiusKM=161&vertical=C2C&sort=BEST_MATCH
If you change radiusKM=161 to something like 5161, it searches a massive radius and you see pretty much everything in one go. There is a maximum that it takes (it'll just say nothing found) but keeping it under 5500km seems to be okay.

These are decent for the price ($35) with actual torque between 250-270oz/in (stock is 130oz/in).
https://www.amazon.com/INJORA-Digital-Waterproof-Brushless-Crawler/dp/B08SQK2VD9
If you want to go for a top of the line servo you can't beat this one for $119. I'm running it directly powered by my 3S pack and get 900oz/in of torque. I installed one of these earlier this week and it is amazing.
I tried a few different magnet mounts before landing on this as the most solid setup. I removed the body posts and drilled this straight onto the brace that runs across the shock towers. I think this style works the best because the magnets lock into position. With these I can drop the body on and it mounts in the correct position and doesn't slide around. Good luck!
I ordered a lipo case last night and should get here today. It sounds like I might be able to store it in the case in the lipo bag, but I might need to discharge it first if the battery is full?

here it is. Just a warning the body does have a bit of weight to it, scratches easily, it’s whole mounting system is a bit sketchy, and the overall quality of it isn’t the best regarding mainly the screws.
I went cheap and got these for the beadlocks figuring the beadlocks were worth the price alone and they are. I was surprised by the performance of the tires after seeing them and thinking they likely wouldn't perform. Now their durability is not something I can speak on yet but I want to get some real nice tires to put these beadlocks from this set as there are better tires available.
I likely will get another set of nice beadlocks when I'm more experienced in the hobby.
This one is only one plug.

As for using the old radio maybe. Technology and frequency standards have changed several times. Though the old radio may work it may not be legal or safe to use. The newest frequency standard is in the 2.4ghz range. If it is on an old frequency standard and some other device that uses the same frequency is in use you could lose control of the truck which could be dangerous. It is unlikely but it could hapen, radio waves surround us all the time an we have no clue.
The nice thing about radios is they can be swapped to different types of vehicles so if thos isn't the type of truck he likes you could pull the radio out and put it in a different surface (car, truck, boat) vehicle. Also some of the radios have multiple model memory, so you can use one transmitter to control all of your models, so each new model just needs a new receiver rather than a whole new radio set.
This Flysky is the most inexpensive radio I'd recomend. It is 3 channel so it has room to control a winch, lights, 4ws or other option beyond just steering and throttle. It can be hacked to actually run up to 8 channels if you are semi brave with a soldering iron. Spectrum and Futaba radios will start in the ~$90 range and go up from there.
here’s the body I used, it was quite annoying to assemble and mount correctly. But it does fit the gen 7 pretty well, I did end up moving my front fenders up and back just so they would line up with the body.

That looks amazing! Any tips on how you neatly wired the roof light bar? I'm planning to scratch build a roof basket to which I will attach 4 of these lights (below), but the wiring is going to be a pain to keep out of sight.

So I took all the lighting wires. Black, red etc. And connected them all with tiny wire nuts. Then just connected them to this item. You can also buy black and red wire from your local hobby shop if you need more. This makes it easy to just flip on or off the lights without having to plug in that dangling wire every time.

Kyx bumper off Amazon. Some people were complaining of receiving a bent bumper but I got lucky and got a straight one. It won't stay straight for long tho with how I drive it lol
It would technically work but it's FAR too low of a turn to work even half way decently. That's a higher speed motor, you might end up burning up the motor trying to get over rock because it will have so little torque.
They're cheap, if you can afford a kit you can afford the $15-$30 for a proper motor. Even the cheap ones on amazon/ebay are good

If you want it for pure crawling I'd recommend a 35t+, if you want to crawl but have more speed for trails then 27t.

4PCS Metal 1.9" Beadlock Wheel Rims for 1/10 RC Crawler Axial SCX10 90046 90047 Tamiya CC01 D90 D110 Wheel Hub (Black&Titanium) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UYY073W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RnwmFbK0KJZH6
I dont typically use an alarm when I am running these guys because my crawl sessions are only 30-40 minutes and my lipos can handle that when charged (1200mah 2S).
But to check cell voltages and to alarm me on my other vehicles I use these:
I havent tried the wheels you linked, These are what i use on some of my rigs.
The beadlock hardware is quality and the scale hubs are a nice touch (hub hardware sucks.) Proline and pitbull tires mount up easy and the wheels have a nice weight to them.
The con is the hubs are not adjustable however they do clear axial capra/scx10.iii portal axles (even with ssd brass portal covers) along with the trx4 axles.

These are good for motor to esc connection. With a brushed motor you can swap pos and negative leads if the motor runs backwards from what you need it to.
Maybe the redcat Everest 16, it's about $160CAD. Smaller but still capable. I still have a Maisto 3xl crawler that I got for my kid when he was 4. It still runs great and he drove that thing through everything, water mud snow etc. He even drove it across the pond by our house lol.

So I had one of these a few years ago and thought it was fantastic for the price. I had an older version that took AA's, but converted it to use lipo. That ended up giving it a little too much torque and it stripped the plastic axle gears after many many hours of crawling. Once the suspension wears in it has lots of travel.

I used a servo splitter from the front wheel steering. The one I'm using also reverses the signal for the rear steering, and has a built in trim: https://www.amazon.com/Expert-Electronics-Y-Harness-Reverser-Standard/dp/B0006O5LR2
