Thanks r/Minty, now I have a new snack to try.
It says, "Deliciously Squidgy Energy" - now I have to experience "squidgy."
Kinda pricey for a fkn malt loaf though iyam. And you have to order a pack of gum or something to get it over $25 for free shipping - there's always a gotcha.

if you intend to develop your chemical interest further, you will need a lot of salt. i suggest to buy a 25kg sack of chemical pure nacl on ebay, amazon or wherever you find it in your country. i payed 25€.
heat wont hurt during the acid boil. no need for a heat bath other then its slightly more safe when leaving it to boil unattended. however, during the lye phase you would not want excessive heat.
a grain mill is the only satisfying method i found to pulverize root bark.
i tried various methods.
a grain mill like that is the only satisfying method i found.
Yes, although I've just had a sniff of mine the aroma is quite appetising - malt loaf! seriously! This stuff https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soreen-Large-Fruity-Malt-Loaf/dp/B004HYCI46
The only silly question is the one you don't ask.
I use a cap nozzle from a silicone sealant container as a mini-funnel. Just chop an inch or so off the narrow end to suit the vial size. A folded piece of paper with the spice lined along the crease can be used to feed into the cap.
You can even buy a pack of them on amazon - see here
Definitely not plastic. Never plastic. Use a glass vial with an air tight seal, store in freezer.
These are cheap and work great:
Glass Vials, 2 Dram, Pack of 12 $6 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JV89OC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_KpZcFbYQWEXF0
Looks good, but I'd go with this one if I were you This one. The one you picked is probably good but I've noticed with milligram scales The lower max capacity they have the more accurate they are.
Plus the scale I linked is showing it's available for same-day delivery, At least for me
I use these PYREX 1L media bottles.
Really any boro 3.3 glass will work.
I accidentally posted on the wrong comment chain. moved my comment here.
Definitely a part of the issue, this is an example of one
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07P78T9B3
You might be able to order them somewhere.
Also funny thing I just noticed, it says handheld type on it which makes me think shaking it while running is an intended functionality?! Lol I dunno about that with these
if you are in the market, these things are best to powderize shredded bark.
i tried coffeegrinders, they will die quickly. i tried blenders - they just dont get it fine enough. i tried some mulinex that instantly died.this is the first mill i found to work perfectly. these machines are cheapo china ware and sold under many brands. you can spend much more on them if you want higher quality.there are also more powerful versions that can grind more in one go, but i dont think its neccesary, not even desirable because they will perform worse for smaller qantitites. this size will be perfect to pulverize 50-100g within 2-3 minutes.
Shit that's my bad lmao. I'm super busy with like 8 batches at once right now. Super hectic! Here you go. All Love bruhs!
Same here bro searched all over my small town and nothing I just ended up having to order some off of amazon here it is if you need 👽

Edit: You can heat them, shake them, I have even dropped them (empty) and they don’t break. Do yourselves a favour and get some
You originally had a rubber stopper that deteriorated or bought the 1 flask that came without? I bought some no name flask that came with a white rubber stopper, it deteriorated and likely got contaminated my batch.
I'd imagine the solid rubber ones would hold up better. https://www.amazon.com/Erlenmeyer-Stopper-Borosilicate-Karter-Scientific/dp/B082DJS3H8
I use this milligram scale from Amazon Australia to measure up doses. Whichever one you go with, make sure it’s 0.001 grams
I've used both pyrex and PYREX and had no issues. Most cookware measuring cups are able to hold heat since they are used for cooking. I think the highest temp I've ever read on a thermometer from lye water is like 117 degrees F. however I do plan on testing this in the near future to see how hot 100g of lye actually gets. as for the gloves if you can chemical resistant gloves for the lye water mixing, that is what I would sugest. These gloves will work just fine.
Which tek? For A/B with larger volumes, 500g of MHRB, I use a brew bag. Put the bark in the bag and immerse it in the vinegar/water solution in a crock pot or stainless cooking pot. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CDZPJW
You'll have very little sediment and cleanup is easy.
Not really a good idea for storage. Cork stoppers in air tend to leak slightly which will allow oxidation. They can also dry out and crumble when you try to remove them, and smoking cork particles isn't a good idea.
Ideally a glass jar with a sealing lid, store it in a cool dark place.
Something like this or search for "glass cosmetics jar".
I got a set of these to dump any contaminated pulls so that I could let them settle and suck up more of the good stuff: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ECAQPWA. My media bottle is similar to yours so I was only getting about 1cm of solvent and couldn't help but grab some base in my final couple of drags with the pipette.
You can pretty much do everything on a single small countertop. I had very little room in my freezer too so I went with a little 2 cup Pyrex dish with airtight lid (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C774SSO/) and it worked perfectly for 100g of bark following spiritvegheads tek.
I don't think there's anything wrong with your idea, but its basically still 90% of the time/work for 25% of the reward. I would just do it all personally, its hard to screw up if you follow that tek exactly and buy exactly what they suggest.
...Just $20 for a boroscillicate separatory funnel on amazon...
...then you'd be liquid-liquid extracting like how the pros do it!
................seriously though this is the glassware designed specifically for the task of separating solvent layers from solutions, and imho is soo worth the monies....
(...unless of course your goop is too goopy to get past the stopcock...but thats a different issue really...)
I use these. Comes in handy for many other uses also. Love the curves tip for corners. https://www.amazon.com/X-ACTO-Products-Carrying-assorted-Convenient/dp/B00551D4AM?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1RKY43UJYB2O1
I used this one THIS
You don't need the fancy gun bit. Just the pipette and a a bulb like this.
Also, you don't need to stress about not pull ABSOLUTLY ANY base soup. Just get the solvent out with as little base soup as possible, get it into a glass and let the base soup settle to the bottom. Then pour/decant the solvent off into the precipitation glassware.
Oh I can assure you it is worth the money. They’re like 8 bucks
Try this one, I found it on the Italian amazon. Says that they have it and it’s cheap
Always wear the mask. And get a pipette pump iinstead of the rubber squeezy thing, its a gamechanger

The glass thimble is super nice and makes reloading a breeze.
You can definitely dissolve DMT in vodka, but think about it. Most of the water won't boil off, so what ends up in the extractor will be closer to everclear. If at the end I pull out the thimble and let 75% of the vodka to move up to the extractor the DMT should basically be in water only, and it is completely insoluble there.
I honestly have no idea what will happen, but there is only one way to find out.
I also got in some MHRB, I need to let the bark basify, and then give it a try.

Every scale has a margin of error, which is usually something like ±5 of the smallest units of measurement that it's capable of displaying.
Check out this random 0.01g scale I came across on Amazon. It has an accuracy of ±0.03g, which isn't too bad for that type of scale, but you're talking about a range of 60mg. That margin of error is too high for DMT, considering you can breakthrough with a 30mg dose.
Even with a good milligram scale, measuring small amounts accurately (like 10mg or less) can be dicey. Having a scale that can read 0.0001g is nice to have in that scenario, but not absolutely necessary.

Bruh what are those use glass lol.
Use a standard glass pipette. It’s just a long tube with a rubber ball at the top. Alternatively, you can use a glass baster with a small tip like this: Fox Run Heat-Resistant Glass Baster, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000VLPSU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0483RZ92AQAAP447P608. This will hold about 5x as much liquid as a standard pipette, might be a lot more convenient. The tip looks small enough to not drip much.

Looking good!
Along with this, you'll need
- A Milligram Scale to measure your doses once you've pulled.
and
- Safety Razor Blades to scrape up your crystals from the oven dish.
Not sure where you are in the world so obviously order from whatever stores you prefer, but I'd recommend wrapping a bit of masking tape on the side of the blade that you'll be handling, making your life much easier!
All the best and safe travels!
Basically no they are always expensive singles or in bulk, let me know if you find something other wise. What I would suggest is buying something with it already, the look awesome and have a ptfe gasket
You can find a lot more caps with liners or bottles/flasks that come with them on aliexpress.
I’m about to try this myself. Since I wasn’t sure about the polymer coating with the lye, I purchased one of these.

I feel you. I used to use cheesecloth to filter ground mushrooms out when making mushroom tea. But, check this out. It really is super easy.
That said, it's obviously not necessary. The only advantage for me is that I can do bulk extractions (1kg or more at a time) with minimal liquid, and the liquid is much less viscous.

This is the one I got, but don’t think it’s strong enough.
I’m not sure. I’d guess it’s just caused from the powder drying out and sticking together over a long period of time.
I used this grinder for turning the bark into powder. I got the mimosa hostilis bark from Brazilianbotanicals.com and the quality was garbage. It yielded barely anything half of the time and nothing at all for the other half
I went with a similar syringe, but decided to go for the 50ml, as it will have more capacity:
QWORK 2 Pack Luer Lock Reusable Glass Syringe with No Needle, 20ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088R81M5J/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_4XXQK0QDNSBYKJ1DJHR7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Turkey Baster? Replace her.
What? No. You'd need a stupid commercial mixer and have a liter of exposed naptha. Gordo tek is a1 fucking bullshit. .... Max ion for the discerning extractors https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.docdroid.net/KaH6oei/max-ion-tek-pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiVvJL05YbwAhXC6Z4KHfWfAfgQFjAAegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw0qnRkQvPPMOwkqED_iqRba
For non-threaded erlenmeyer flasks, I use these pipe caps with steel clamps. Just make sure you get the correct size for the opening of your flask. You will get a perfect seal with no concern about the cap coming off on accident. And they're made out of PVC, which has Excellent compatibility with naphtha and sodium hydroxide.
It's not about whether it can or cannot explode while pressurized. The failure point in that case would likely be the lid
Borosilicate glass has excellent temp resistance, including rate or rise resistance.
Get a PTFE insert for the lid and you can safely mix the whole solution, solvent and all, without worry of contamination
I hate using naphtha….heptane is much easier, not as bad for you, evaporates almost as fast as acetone so no need for freeze precipitation. Buy it from Amazon….. https://www.amazon.com/Bestine-Solvent-Thinner-Rubber-Cement/dp/B006SOK9YY
If you don’t already have them, get some of these nice glass pipettes instead of wasting your time with a turkey baster, this is the only frustrating part and totally worth having the right tools for the job
QWORK 2 Pack Luer Lock Reusable Glass Syringe with No Needle, 20ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088R81M5J/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_477QZHF9FCMVS7VXX07R
These work great instead of a pipette/ turkey baster. Can be used for pulls pre freeze and also sucking up excess solvent after the freeze before you dry.
Get something like this. It’ll turn your bark into powder in 5 minutes. I have one and it’s great
I’ve bought this on Amazon. I’m yet to use it but kilner jars are heat treated to fingers crossed it works out well. Cheapest option I’ve found.
This is what I got
hey thanks alot. i really appreciate it, im currently doing this right now, waiting for my lye to cool. i have 1 more question. i have a small pyrex dish that holds 3 cups, is that too small? if it is i got a bigger one i can use.

Borosilicate Erlenmeyer flask with PTFE cap is the way to go. It can withstand heat, pressure, and the cap is inert to the chemicals used in extractions. It also narrows at the top making pulls easier. - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0774Y83QK?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2\_dt\_b\_product\_details

i did look at the infinity jars, the only difference is that the lids are glass too, they’re nice but i just can’t justify paying $18 for 3 when i could get 24 of the ones with plastic logs for the same price
do you think i should get this variety pack instead?
so you’d recommend against them?
i’m going to get these, hopefully they work out
i hope they fit a gram perfectly, it would be really nice to have a small container or 2 full of dmt
i’m choosing clear over amber because i want to be able to see my dmt, i can always wrap the jar in tinfoil or put it in a bag to keep light out
I use these pipettes and don't allow product to come into contact with the bulb. It will be fine as long as you don't store anything in the pipette and keep material away from the bulb.
i just ordered this media bottle from amazon, with what you've told me i'm pretty sure it will work for the job. thoughts? and for my lye mixture i'll probably use a measuring cup with cold water to ensure it doesn't break
Sorry I've just seen that it's out of stock. This is another one with good reviews: PYREX 1L Round Media Storage Bottles, with GL45 Screw Cap, Ea https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XR5TDE/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_6A2SYKS8FRR4YZPS7YVJ

Yeah there is such a thing as food grade lye. Here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/Sodium-Hydroxide-Grade-Caustic-Pound/dp/B07KNR9SVF
You really shouldn't try preaching what you don't know.
You use food grade lye for things like cosmetics, soap making, making dmt etc.
Don't use non food grade lye for making dmt.
Bluelab PENPH pH Pen Fully Waterproof Pocket Tester, Easy Calibration, Double Junction Probe for Improved Accuracy and Durability https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005POOJHG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TTEH3A6XC5VKH8DZAYVH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I have. You definitely can’t skimp when it comes to digital ph pens. I’ve been growing marijuana for years and have used this pen the whole time and have zero complaints. If anyone is looking to pick one up this would be the one I recommended.
The mason jar lid would be a better option than a plastic bag/plastic wrap, but I'd bet the mason jar lid is lined with something that will react to the lye as well. As others have stated, it would be best to not use a mason jar in the first place. A better option would be a Pyrex media bottle, which you can find on Amazon or eBay. They come in many sizes and are designed to be resistant to chemicals and they come with lids that will not react to your base solution.
If you have a proper vessel with no lid, another option is to use a PVC pipe cap, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HNWADJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_N0GA0H4A7Y4ZV4X3WJ8H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
PVC will not react to the NaOH (lye). You can verify this using the chemical compatability chart at the following location: https://www.calpaclab.com/pvc-polyvinyl-chloride-chemical-compatibility-chart/

Sucking up the naphtha is the hardest part of the whole thing. If you get frustrated using pipettes, try flat-topped syringes. I can't tell, and I'm only English speaking.
Just type "10ml glass pipette"
I love that grinder - this the one I bought. It's a 150 capacity, 50-70 Watts. Works like a charm. MUCH better than a blender with how hard that root bark is.
That bath sonicator looks like it might be a little small - 600ml - depending on your volumes. That pic looks misleading to me - put that electric shaver in a 600ml beaker and see how much space is left. The power - 30W - is half the one I have, but the frequency looks like it's in the right range.
Usually, people will put jewelry or other objects directly in the bath, but solutions are usually put in a beaker and placed in the bath. As that video shows, the sonic frequencies make it through the glass and into the solution.

Can’t remember why I got them but I had them laying around. I was a little worried about the silicon stopper.
Shit that's my bad bro I thought I added it in the post. Meant too lol.. here ya go bro.
That's good for small extractions, but it gets DMT all up inside it and is a huge mess for larger ones.
You want a flat edged putty/palette knife so you can just scrape the DMT off easily and there are no crevices to collect gunk,
Thanks for putting out this info! I’ve never extracted before so this is definitely a good read.
One thing: I think you should add in separatory funnels to the list of glassware. You pour your mixture into one and once the layers separate you can easily drain the bottom one out with 100% accuracy and catch all of the top layer, even what would make up the thin “skin” layer towards the end. We use them all the time in my organic chemistry lab during synthesis and extraction and they’re a godsend!
Here’s an example of one on Amazon. It’s a bit expensive but high volume and definitely makes your life a lot easier:
You’ll probably also want a stand:
Laboratory Grade Metalware Set - Support Stand (8" x 5"), 12mm Dia. Rod (24" L), Cork Lined Burette Clamp with Boss Head and Retort Ring (2.5" Dia) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HUUWYIO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_gvndGb2KCCTB3
I only touch one side of the paper. Also the aqueous solution you're testing wickers up the paper and you'll be able to see it separate from where you dipped. I'd recommend https://smile.amazon.com/Hydrion-paper-93-Dispenser-Color/dp/B005FYGXUC/ref=sr_1_18?crid=2SPX7AV1RYXJU&dchild=1&keywords=litmus+paper+ph+test+strips&qid=1609253824&sprefix=litmus%2Caps%2C241&sr=8-18
I usually just take a small piece of parchment paper, fold it in half, and let it slide in.
If you want to be more careful, I sometimes use a small glass funnel. The small ones in a set like this fit perfectly in a vial for me: https://www.amazon.com/Teenitor-Glass-Funnels-Diameter-30mm/dp/B07KJQ29D6/
