Anytime it sits for extended periods the gas in the carb will slowly evaporate and leave behind some deposits that can block some of the very tiny passages in a carb.
I would get a carb rebuild kit, some carb cleaner and go through it, thoroughly cleaning every part.
An air compressor if you have one, or can borrow one, is very helpful in blowing out the tiny passages.
Furry seat is just for show, if you want to put on miles buy this (Coleman MadDog GearComfort Ride Seat Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006JMK7N8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V26PNRKX91C27S6F864X)
They last for about 10,000 miles before they break down. You can do several hundred miles in a day with that seat cushion if you push it.
Center stand is one of the best purchases for the bike. You can always have stability when parking as opposed to the kick stand, you can lube your chain/change sprockets/remove wheels without needing to Jack the bike up, and it’s just very convenient.
Tire should be on correct, but who knows you may be right. Either way I’m not taking it off until the tread runs out lol.
Also I should add that despite this picture, I do 99 percent of my miles on road. I’m actually a fraud and this is my city commuter bike that I take off road like once a year lol.
You just need to shield the line from the heat and you’ll be okay. Something like this to slip over the line https://www.amazon.com/Team-Performance-Aluminized-Sleeving-Protection/dp/B07W4GM1MK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=wire+heat+shield&qid=1595969540&sr=8-3. The guy with the aluminum tape is on the right path, but this type of insulated wire cover is specially made for this kind of issue.
Also, check your petcock and there should be an in tank filter attached to it. If that’s the case you can ditch your inline filter. The only reason I run an in-line filter is because I removed the standpipe/filter in my tank so I don’t have to deal with switching to reserve.
Oh, well if your crank case is already connected, then you'll probably be fine. Just make sure it's connected to the port on the airbox that is actually on the engine-side of the filter, and not the "unfiltered" airbox side. The airbox will have 2 ports, one to drain water (very low on the airbox), and one to vent the crankcase/gearbox vapor.
So sucking and blowing that port made the fuel slide rise and fall! Perfect! That just needs a breather filter (mini filter) looks like this or something similar and hopefully less expensive:
Now, that port being unfiltered wouldn't prevent the engine from running, so you have a bit more work ahead of you.
Just remember, fuel, spark, air, valve adjustment. Check each system and isolate the problem. Depending on how far you had the engine torn down, make sure the timing is correct.
Some cheap ones off of Amazon or eBay. But they work great. I have a set on two of my trucks
TMS® 2 x 18W 1260LM CREE Spot Led Work Light Bar For Off-road SUV Boat 4x4 Jeep Lamp https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EA0ZB7I/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_7OOTvbTXSYVMC
RUTU Hydraulic Motorcycle Lift... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09H6H8F94?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Im using this one. Theres a bunch like this on amazon. Ill be honest tho ,although it easy to put it on the stand the dr is too heavy for me alone to press down on the lever and jack up the platform. I always need a help from someone.
Plastic razor blade and some gasket remover from the store let it soak overnight and was still bit hard to clear up i was at 21k miles with the stock gasket so it was baked in pretty well.
after that job i did end up buying the 3m relock setup which is 100% worth it get the white disks and a holder attach to the drill and go.

No IOS option yet. I'm working on porting and improving it with additional information but I'm strapped for cash to pay the iOS dev fees at the moment.
Here's the Andriod version of it and what the iOS port will look like once ready to roll.

If you're on Android, grab this app from MX Rob:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andromo.dev163023.app157444&hl=en_CA&gl=US
Its got torque spec tables in the app. Not sure if there's a iOS option, tho.
The dealer probably put the lead on it so they could easily trickle charge the battery. That way if someone came in to ride it they didn't get a bad impression from a weak battery. Taking the sidecovers, seat, and seat brace/battery tiedown off is more work than they want to do each time to battery gets weak from sitting when mechs are paid by the hour.

cant remember the name of the guy that made the bracket but he sells em on facebook

same bracket for DRZ & DR650
I just installed this on mine. Lightweight but seems pretty strong, and you can cut the length of the tube if desired. Just wrap it with painters tape and cut with a Dremel cut-off wheel. Kbrotech Bike Handlebar Extender Double Handlebar Extension Carbon Fiber Mount Holder with Aluminum Alloy Bracket Space Saver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073D88K9W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HWY27GQ28XNS58MPFH34?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I usethis one right now - Install is 2 bolts and rewiring the license plate bulb (if you want to). Cheap and it's prime if you have it.
Same exact thing happened to me over the weekend. The 2 orings on the float deteriorated therefore spilling gas into my case and filled up my airbox. I installed these to things and now my bike is running brand new.
I'm on a very tight budget and have been happy with these inexpensive guards:
JFG RACING Handguards Dirt Bike Hand Guards - Universal For 7/8in And 1 1/8in Handlebar - For Dirt Bike For Motocross Enduro Supermoto(Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M9TKZ6L/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_2AJNFC1XHMBXFYJEZHDH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't dropped mine yet but these were fairly easy to put on.
There's very little to do on the first service, change the oil, check faster tightness, gauge the valves (it's very unlikely that they need to be adjusted).
If you are on android you may find this app useful.
These are the lights, they work well enough https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHZG2FR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_YY3PCQ76Z63M00B9EHPT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The mount bar also came from Amazon, but it's no longer available. It's similar to the one they sell on procycle.
Man, so expensive for my budget, I will get this one's from Amazon
Do you know what's the size for rear and front? They offer 60cm, 90cm and 120cm
Thanks
$138 without shipment sounds expensive for my budget and for my devaluated money hahaha, I will get this one's from Amazon
Do you know what's the for rear and front? They offer 60cm, 90cm and 120cm
Thanks
I'd highly recommend you pick up one of these. You'll be on wonderful roads in no time.
I’ve been running these bike masters for a while, and they get pretty toasty, pretty quickly. $41.
BikeMaster Heated Grips (7/8) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009Z1KQ2M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_DKrWFbP8VV8K0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Bark busters/hand guards help, too.
I got the BikeMaster Heated Grips with LCD Switch (7/8") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NYBZ4CQ/
They have been good the last few years, and the voltmeter is a nice plus. I bought a new throttle tube for installation since the OEM grip and throttle tube are basically formed into one and not easily separated. I put a thin layer of tape on the left side to help balance the temp difference from the left side touching bare metal and the right being insulated by the throttle tube. I have stock steel bars and with the tape they feel balanced.
I wired mine into the unused plug inside the headlight wiring harness, which is nice since it is already on a relay to turn on and off with the ignition. They only draw 3 or 4 amps on high, I have had no issues with overloading the stock electrical system. After the first few minutes I usually turn them down to medium heat, but I only ride down into the 40’s. For real polar riders heated gloves would probably be better anyways.
Edit: Lol just re-read your post and your NOT looking for racks. Well whoops here's info about racks anyway.
I run these: https://www.amazon.com/Tusk-Pannier-Racks-Fits-1996-2009/dp/B01MRZLU34
I love them. I looked at every rack I could find for the DR. These are the only ones that are:
The racks come with some ugly turn signal relocation brackets. I had already removed my stock turn signals and fabbed up a system that I liked previously so I just tossed them.
Have you seen the DR App?
Check out My DR650 on Google Play! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andromo.dev163023.app157444
Will answer alot of questions for you. It's a great resource from MXROB
Someone posted this Android app somewhere. It's what I use to track stuff.
I'd give her a good once over and tighten all nuts and bolts to spec. I'd also throw in a new fuel filter. I'd also keep an eye on the oil.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sozora.dr650maintenance
I do my maintenance as needed or recommended. So I can't talk too much. Lll
Does the LED block half the headlight? I have the same light bar and mine did until I got a new mount for it.
This is after I put the new mount on: http://imgur.com/gallery/7y8jL6y
And for the mount I bought a cheap light bar that had the one I wanted: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JXHQRN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4YMsBbZYEKQ2W
I have the hi-viz nelson riggs dry bags that are like 100 bucks on Amazon. They are a bit deformed from mistreating them, but they keep everything dry and stay put pretty well. I also carry everything I need to dismantle my entire bike and spare parts everywhere. I am over-packed 99% of the time. They have held up to falls and everything. The saddle bags are about twice as big as the crash bars they sit on. So the top part is supported but the bottom sags in and deforms the rigid back of the bag. It works fine, it just looks a little sloppy. I also have the this box mounted on this rack that I am very pleased with for the price. The box is cheap, but it is easily removed, locks (even though its just plastic and can be easily broken into probably), and it doesn't allow any water in even in the heaviest of rain. I have put these to the test, and they have held up for 8000 punishing miles so far.
As for the fuel problem, do you have the stock tank? I use MSR fuel containers that are specifically designed to handle pressurized fuels. I took a couple with me on the TAT, but never needed them with a 5.3 gallon tank. I definitely would have needed one with the stock tank though as I did a span of 180ish miles between fuel stops. So they mostly just get used to catch gas when I take the tank off or do carb work. I would say keep them outside of your duffels if you can just for the sake of everything not smelling like gas.
The most important part of the system is how you attach it. You don't want things moving around because it will destroy them. Even sand in your tent fly bouncing around on the back of the bike will ruin it as I learned when suddenly my tent was no longer water tight after 3000 miles on the back of the bike.
Thanks!! I've used some of the ones from Tusk (like these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003O76XBQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) but just never could find some that are really short like the ones you show. I'll have to check bikemaster.
You might want to look into a hitch tightener or other anti-rattle device.
Nelson Rigg make about the best saddle bags I have encountered (as far as ease of use and affordability) They are weather resistant, cheap, and you can adjust them by modifying/adjusting the straps.
I don't have those on my Dr but I run these OC Gizmo Off Road 10W LED Work Light Lamp Harley Dually D2 Bike Motorcycle Spot Beam 2.5" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009SAAK7G/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_7aRTvb3B2SSTV
You shouldn't need to change the stator. I haven't had any problems but I run all less except for the headlight is hid
Hey buddy! Right on and congrats!
I'm picking up my first DR in a week. If you haven't looked into it yet- NSU screw tightening as well as the upper chain roller removal are first must do preventative tasks to avoid some pretty cataclysmic damage! First thing I'll be doing.
Also have an app
