Hey girl, I hope I'm not overstepping. I am one semester away from a psychology degree and this post freaks me out a little. This is a textbook warning sign, and I wouldn't be worried besides your title "my life is a mess so I want to change my hair to deal". Turns out, a huge sign of depression is a major change in appearance.
I took a quick look through your post history (and I won't mention what I saw in case you're not tryna talk about it here) but I see you've been through some shit. Looks like you love animals though, and you love your job...I hope that they are sustaining you through any hard times that you're going through or will continue to go through.
I'm just a stranger on the internet, so if I'm totally wrong I'm really sorry and I'll delete this comment. I just want to check in on you, say hey, and if you want to talk anything through I'm here for you.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, I adore the collarbone length on you. Your hair is so thick and beautiful! Would you consider dyeing it? That could be fun, because the length is so beautiful I'd hate to see more of it gone on you.
I would worry about damaging it by coloring. Plus, I think your color is great.
If I were you, I’d think about ways to thicken it. This stuff works fantastically for my hair. I spray it in and let it air dry:
https://www.amazon.com/Garnier-Fructis-Thickening-Lotion-Packaging/dp/B00T6FNWLY
You can buy it at most grocery or drug stores for cheap.
You should also go over to r/curlyhair. You’ll find soooo many great tips.
They make glasses like this! I bought some for raves for cheap on wish or aliexpress. They make me sick to my stomach to wear lol super disorienting. If you want to find them search prism refraction glasses. They usually have plastic rims but I feel like you can find ones almost exactly like this somewhere.
Also they are very heavy because the lenses are thick glass. Here's some on Amazon like what I'm talking about https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRDZNQW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_wdo.Fb6PB9YQB
WearMe Pro - Clear Lens Semi Transparent Clear Frame Colorful Glasses (Clear Blue, 49) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9DKSHF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VzLgDbBFK920G
Maybe something like this? I love the colorful transparent look.
First of all, it should not be your biggest insecurity because it looks good already : )

Second of all, I have the same issue, with hair that is flat on top and tends to get oily. The only thing that works for me (besides blowdrying with volume product in, which I save for special occasions) is changing the way I airdry it. Have you tried sleeping with your hair in a bun at the top of your head? I use these hair clips at night on halfway air-dried hair, and it really helps increase the volume at the roots. I tried this with hair bands, bobby pins, and other types of clips, but the only ones that are both comfortable and stay in all night are the double-hinged sectioning clips like hairdressers use.
I'm so jealous! It may be a bit of maintenance but with your length and thick hair this style would be great! I've wanted this look for so long, I just have thin, brittle hair 😢
I styled my hair today using an “s waver” tool from Bed Head, then I used a little bit of Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe hair texturizing spray. I love how it turned out!
Here’s a link to the tool if anyone is interested! Bed Head Makin’ Waves "S" Waver Creates Loose Waves https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BV5EW98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_akZFBbHC491GK
Edit: one photo was taken on Snapchat - that’s why the photos mirror each other ♀️
DONT GET BANGS. People always regret it. Buy the bangs of you want them. Maybe get yourself som le layers and some highlights? You’re gorgeous!
AISI QUEENS Clip in Bangs Real Human Hair Medium Brown Bangs One Piece Clip in Fringe Hair Extensions for Women(Medium Brown) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P98CBH8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_WPQYFb6XCECHF
Have you tried more volume? I use one of those volume irons and it makes my flat hair nice and big. I don’t need to curl it to make it look nice. The one I bought isn’t on amazon anymore, but it’s like this: VOLOOM Classic 1 1/2 Inch Volumizing Hair Iron. A revolutionary hair lifter designed specifically to add large volume and lift to hair. The only hair volumizer patented for checkerboard design. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XNUT9VK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2oQbDbVKRRD7S

I looked on Amazon and these caps had pretty decent reviews? We’ve always had shampoo caps on the floors I’ve worked on, it’s so weird your hospital doesn’t stock them anymore. They aren’t amazing, but it’s just something to make patients feel a little more cared for. I always felt like just brushing it with an actual brush and not those stupid useless combs went a long ways, too.
I like the warm color, tbh, though the stripeyness I agree with. If you want to try to tone it yourself (and maintain the color in the future) my stylist recommended Keracolor toning drops, which you mix into your shampoo or conditioner as needed. Also make sure you are using a super gentle shampoo. (Sulfate free, etc)
Keracolor Purple/Gold Toning Drops to Create Your Own Purple Shampoo - Mix with Any Shampoo, Conditioner or Cream Styler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MXNT5NF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YQZH31NNXFY2034AGTW9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Don't forget that water softener you bought was not used for what it was intended. That is for washing clothes, it's going to be on an industrial scale. The chemistry is not really relevant to us.
Why don't you give something like this a go? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07259BPG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_W7AB71BDPM1JZSCNZRVF
Also, I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you, but are you washing your hair in the tub? I highly recommend you wash your hair with the shower. I never feel clean, hair or body, when I wash in the bathtub, you're just sitting in all the dirt, and you can't really rinse anything out of your hair. Get a shower head attachment that adjusts the water hardness, and wash and rinse with that. You also might want to change your shampoo, I have had a few in my life that don't really later nicely
I do my own bleach and tone and get silvery white in a few hours. I’m a natural warm dark blonde.
If you want to try something in the meantime, I’d recommend Fanola No Orange Shampoo for a toning product that will add lots of blue/cool tones and cancel the orange/yellow
I’m horrible at blowing out my own hair so I invested in this and never looked back:
https://www.amazon.com/Revlon-One-Step-Dryer-Volumizer-Brush/dp/B01LSUQSB0
It’s unbelievably easy to blow out my hair now. Here’s a video of someone using it: https://youtu.be/n8RPYcRDWnI
Ahhh amazing thank you SO MUCH.
I've heard that amazon's product isn't the OG, and it's diluted, much more watery. Even the comments say the same of people who have the salon version vs the amazon. Also it seems their site only sells to professionals? It says "for consumers" but when I put #3 in my basket, it says "Please note: Products from this cart are for salon professionals only. We will verify your professional credentials before first time orders will be shipped."
I will DEFINITELY be checking out that recommended Apoghee treatment, though. Is this the product you referenced? Any suggestions for usage?
I was just looking at that a moment ago on Amazon. The reviews are horrifying! I don't understand why some people swear by it and others say it ruined their hair!
Clip the hair on either side of the separation together when it's wet, then either air dry or blow-dry. I use these https://www.amazon.com/Diane-Double-Prong-Clips-80/dp/B00143WQI6?keywords=Roller+clip&qid=1538014470&sr=8-4&ref=mp_s_a_1_4
When I was growing out my short hair (finer texture, medium density and straight) I started using small foam rollers and slept in them at night, so my hair was curly and so cute the next day. You can buy the packages of foam rollers at WalMart. I would wash my hair at night, add a styling product (Aveda confixor liquid gel is my jam) and put my wet hair in the foam rollers and sleep on them (quite comfortable!) and in the AM I would pop the rollers out and tousle the hair, adding a bit of pomade (Aveda Control Paste was the best for this) to define the curls and control any frizzy stuff I brought up from toussling and I'd be good to go. It was a fun way to deal with the awkward grow out stages and rock a fun curly 'do. Plus I got mega compliments on it :D
I found a cute tutorial doing foam roller set on a short bob hair style. http://www.sweetpaintedladynz.com/2014/11/12/foam-roller-set-on-short-hair/
The rollers at WalMart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Foam-Roller-48-Pack/10323109
I also have a horrible time growing out my hair, and haven't found any products that work for me yet. However, I found this comic on Pinterest that might help with different styles while growing out your hair!
http://pinterest.com/pin/299982025149712658/
Good luck!
This stuff has been my saving grace. The As I Am Dry & Itchy Scalp Care Cowash is cleansing but not stripping. You should follow up with a conditioner as well.
Hey, I've been having that issue too! Just out of curiosity, would you happen to be a swimmer? My hair used to be pretty soft but after years of swimming it's gotten more rough and coarse and falling out more too that people usually say are from all the chlorine exposure. I wouldn't recommend cutting it shorter simply because it's falling out though. I'd say keep it at whatever length you like the most! I've been looking around too and there are definitely many options that should help, I found this on Amazon and it seems to help somewhat (https://www.amazon.com/PURA-DOR-Anti-Thinning-Moisturizing-Conditioner/dp/B07BHCB9Y2/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2J29WFVZH8V3P&dchild=1&keywords=hair+loss+shampoo&qid=1630450828&sprefix=hair+loss+%2Caps%2C596&sr=8-7), you could give it a try I guess and see if you notice any improvements. Low dose biotin supplement is another thing to consider, and if it's still worrying you a lot, you could ask your PCP for a dermatologist referral. Maybe they'll have some higher prescription strength medicated hair products for you to use. And everything should be covered by insurance as well unless depending on where you are, you happen to have Alameda Alliance lol speaking of which I should switch mine to Blue Cross instead. It's a bit of a hassle to have to go through all these avenues but there're definitely many options out there so don't be discouraged!
Your hair looks fantastic, I really love that color!! If you're looking for hair masks to bring back your whirl's I HIGHLY recommend Aphogee. Bleach breaks down protein in hair which is why it feels dry more prone to breakage etc. I didn't realize how much bleach affected my swavy's until I did a protein treatment. If you want to kick up the masks even further, I swear by the Olaplex dupe Plex-ph, https://youtu.be/S7K0ll6ZTlM https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DCLVZ93/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_B3ZNKWPDE9NTZ83HXR3W
I have frizzy/curly hair too and the one product I’ll keep buying over and over is the Silk Drops from Ion!! Just a dime size in your hair after showering!! Life changing and smells so good and fresh.
I’ll post the Amazon link below but I recommend getting it from your local beauty shop or Sally’s.
Also pro tip: always avoid salt/sulfates if possible!!! Or at least they shouldn’t be in the first few ingredients. This is mostly a shampoo issue but happens with leave in conditioners/smoothing products a lot which is a scam bc it just makes u think u need to buy more.
You’d look great with bangs I think.
I couldn’t make up my mind so I bought $10 clip in ones from Amazon and I couldn’t be happier.
Forgot which brand I got, but something like these BOGSEA Bangs Hair Clip in Bangs Real Human Hair Wispy Bangs Fringe with Temples Hairpieces for Women Clip on Air Bangs Flat Neat Bangs Hair Extension for Daily Wear (Wispy Bangs, (Light Brown~)) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0943H1RWJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V6EY9EMNFG28M0QBAFX8?psc=1
I have a weird cow lick which made me hate having bangs personally, but with these clip ins I don’t worry about that anymore.
Agree with the center part! You might also like a powder texturizer. It adds some gritty texture and makes hair look a lot thicker and fuller. For me I think it also makes it more manageable so it stays where you put it. I think a lot of brands make something like this but this is the one I’ve used
As far as the festival and having no hot tools, i don't know if this seems to ridiculous to you, but they make travel curling irons like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHR28TB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_9F7THHBPXW8V1CXA50WJ
And
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TA7B04/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_68ETKQ4DWT7Q36DXHQVQ
I have used before and it's pretty cool to be able to style in the middle of nowhere.
Do you have fine hair? I have fine, hydrophobic hair and I could've written this. My mom had thick hair and always got mad at me for getting knots in my hair. I literally can do no movement and bam more knots.
What's helped me in the shower is using a shampoo for fine hair. I use this one but there are plenty. Also making sure my ends get trimmed has helped a lot. Granted I just had 16" of pandemic hair cut off and now it's so much easier to brush my hair than it was prior. Not too sure how much was the dead ends versus just the sheer length.
Sheamoisture Deep Treatment Masque for Dry, Damaged or Transitioning Hair Raw Shea Butter with Sea Kelp and Argan Oil 12 oz this is sold on Amazon and Walmart.
anything Cantu also works great and they’re economical. I wouldn’t buy this brand from Amazon though, I’ve noticed it’s marked up quite a bit but it’s just under $6 at Walmart.
Both add a good amount of moisture, give you a bang for your buck and smell good/aren’t overwhelming.
I think a full-on dye is risky right before your wedding, but a little dimension would look lovely! Weird that your balayage didn't show up; maybe try a different stylist this time, because they clearly didn't know how to lift your hair correctly. I would suggest doing some lowlights if you want that depth, AND maybe trying highlighting again if you're feeling it, plus an all-over gloss for shine.
As for bangs, have you ever had them before? I agree with other posters, they're an annoyingly big commitment. You're kind of stuck styling them everyday, and they're a pain in the ass to grow out. So I'd just suggest you go slow; maybe buy some fake bangs to try out the look, or start out with some long face-framing layers or curtain bangs that you can still easily blend back in if you end up hating them!
You can thin it yourself! I've found that most hairdressers don't thin enough and started thinning my own hair. All you need is a pair of thinning shears (like this: https://www.amazon.com/Goody-Thinning-Shears-1-CT/dp/B000W3SZ16) I take the top section of my hair (as if you're going to put it half up) and tie it up and don't thin that part just because I don't actually have skills and if I mess up at least the top will look normal. Then just take sections from the bottom half and cut close to the roots with the thinning shears. It may freak you out because it will look like you're going to chop off the whole section, but it will just thin it. After you do the chop, brush out the loose hairs. Then just repeat for all of the under part of your hair. It might be a good to try thinning your hair yourself before committing to shaving it off. I've felt like I've wanted to shave mine when it was big too. Reading this about the awkward growing out stage made me glad I didn't: https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7a8dp/growing-out-shaved-head-before-after-photos

Sure! I find that a set similar to these are great:
But if cost is an issue, you could always go for a set of velcro rollers from the dollar store/pound shop
Omg ok one last comment haha... if you’re not already doing so:
-get an ionic hair dryer. You don’t even have to get an expensive one... this one is even great... but use the concentrator adaptor and always aim the dryer downwards... along the length of the hair!!!
Bee bald products work really well for my SO! I would also be tempted to try a dab of any sort of natural moisturizing oil - I like almond oil a lot for my skin and hair but there are all sorts of oils people use, like olive or coconut which you might already have in your pantry :)
I have one that I use that I get on Amazon that my stylist recommended. Works very well with my hair, doesn't dry it out at all. Viral Extreme Purple Wash. I've been using it since October & works great.
I'm pretty happy with these curlers that I got on Amazon. I also have thick hair, so I've found it best to have only slightly damp hair when I put them in. Depending on how wet my hair is, I usually leave them in for 1-3 hours. Not the most comfortable to sleep in, but goddamn did I look like Little Orphan Annie for three full days afterwards lol.
I swear by tea tree oil conditioner after using neutrogena tgel shampoo. let it sit until your head feels tingly and cold (minty feeling). I get it on Amazon, and then once a week I use H&S deep conditioning treatment for dry scalp (also on amazon, comes in a small tub) linked below!
https://www.amazon.com/Conditioner-Dandruff-Therapeutic-Treatment-Strengthening/dp/B01N3AMEHV
Try this purple shampoo. I used it when I had brown box dye removed and it turned a brassy mess. It's so so so dark purple, a little goes a long way.
Edit to add, it won't make it lighter blonde, just balance out the brassy to what I'm guessing is your natural color.
Cut split ends, deep conditioning hair mud mask. Youtube for detail instruction.
In gengeral, 3/4 cup of water, 100% organic cassia, 100% organic ashwagandha, 100% organic moringa, 1 tablespoon of any oil. (Not to dry out hair) Mix as much powder until it is thick like yogurt. Put in hair with application hair brush, cover with plastic shower cap, let set for about 2 to 3 hours. Wash out, condition hair and let air dry. Don't put any products for two days.
Optional: use heated hair cap from Etsy made with flax seed

Do hair mask every two weeks, it will take a 2 to 3 applications to see good results.
I have very similar hair! I love using OGX flexible fiber wax daily on my short hair it really adds texture but you can still play with your hair all day. https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Shine-Bamboo-Texture-Flexible/dp/B075D6CT94
Also if you need a dryshampoo- NOT YOUR MOTHERS brand texturizing dryshampoo helps with volume and texture as well as giving you all the added benefit of dryshampoo
Try a color depositing hair mask... I got Keracolor on amazon (in pink) but they have a platinum and I think with a few applications of it you’d be white.
Keracolor Clenditioner Color... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QDSTBQ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
You should look into a polishing brush! I think amazon has one for $30. Its the greatest, low maintenance hair tool I own! It takes me like 7-10 minutes and your hair looks smooth and polished like you got a blowout. It’s not completely stick straight so it has some body to it too. I’d recommend it for many people! It even works on my friends thick, wavy hair.
Edit: added link to product. Also, i own the amika brush which I love but did not need to drop $150 on. Here’s a comparable straightening brush. Ps so sorry. I’m on mobile and don’t know how to add links so this could be a hot mess.

I was going through something similar a month or two ago. What helped me was alternating a salicyclic acid shampoo and coal tar shampoo and using a scalp scrubber brush. This is the brush I use and I've seen a major change since I started. Cutting my hair did help, but it was more because my hair was so fried from frequent washing. I hope that things get better for you!
Edited for grammar.
ou’re fine lol - I’m a female barber who’s had short hair all my life, so I had to get like a crash course in hair dryers in barber school myself ! If she like GHD, their hair dryers are good as well and not too bad price wise

Product: RenaSolum Hair solution
My scalp is on the sensitive side, so I've always been interested in hair care at home.
Recently I've noticed that my hair feels dry and lifeless along with scalp flaking, so I looked for products I can use before shampooing or drying my hair. Finally managed to find something good so I'm writing this review to share.
Going to the salon every day is too consuming of time and money. Instead, I used it every day for 1-2 weeks and I'm really satisfied with the results. My scalp is no longer flaky and my hair looks shiny and so much healthier.
The ingredient list says it contains 90 kinds of nutrients, all-natural.
If you have a dry scalp or hair like I did this might be worth trying out.
More information about how to use it is on the store page!
Could you swing about $4 on Amazon before payday?
Malibu C makes this one time use product to remove hard water build up. They also make a hard water shampoo and conditioner that get good reviews, but they're like $17 bucks a pop so you might want to wait on that part.
I also once read Suave conditioner has an ingredient that chelates chlorine. I have no evidence of this, it's just something I read somewhere, but I don't think it would hurt to soak your hair in some conditioner if that's all you're able to do atm.
You’re so right! Looking into it more there are tons of brands like Coola which looks to be water resistant, non-greasy, prevents UV color fading, and it’s reef friendly and cruelty free too. Thanks for opening my work to these!
+1 for the soft brush between wash days. I use this one, which is comically small because it's for babies, lol. These can be used at her roots (on dry hair) to gently redistribute any natural oil that might accumulate while she acclimates to a less frequent hair washing schedule.
Have you tried a protien treatment? All hair needs a balance between protien and moisture. If you've got too much moisture and not enough protien, your hair will be unhappy. You can get them at any beauty supply store or online. You dont need to buy the most expensive one - try something like HiProPac at first to see if it helps. Straight and wavy peeps wont need to do this as often as our curly friends, but we can still benefit from it.
I was thinking claw clips, but here’s some that’d be even better:

Hey OP I have a hard water filter for ~30 bucks from Amazon. It works really well and lasts about ~4 months in a shower for two people. I have really thick snd long hair and I had flaky buildup and my hair was knotted and matted all the time. it’s made a huge difference for my hair and skin. It’s worth a shot because it’s not expensive. Here’s the filter I have
do you use any hair care stuff? looks like your hair is very damaged and dried. you can use whatever shampoo you have and some conditioner (my favourite is this stuff)
Texture spray can also create more volume throughout your hair as well as dry volume burst spray. They can be a bit pricey imo, but this one by Kenra is fabulous and smells amazing!
I’d buy a few bottles of Lamellar water. Shampoo, then apply the lamellar water, rinse and brush out using fingers, apply it again, rinse out, brush with fingers, keep doing that until it feels smooth.
I’ve never seen these but it looked like it would be good for ponytails & in searching for that I found some hits under “fish claw clip”.
https://www.amazon.com/Parcelona-French-Tortoise-Ponytail-Holder/dp/B07V3RZZSY/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?
Maybe I got a fake product, but I personally didn’t like Keratese when I bought it off Amazon. So, take my opinion with a grain of salt!
A lot of rogue hair dressers sell bulk 72oz bottles of olaplex shampoo and conditioner on eBay. I’ve bought it twice from two different sellers and both quality products. Pricey (about $300 for both), but it lasts me and my husband a full year.
I don’t wash everyday BECAUSE the hard water is sooooo crappy for hair and scalp health. Also, since I dont wash everyday (3x a week max, often 1-2x), I use a clarifying shampoo at least once a month. Nothing fancy, just Neutrogena and it works wonders. However, I’m planning on using Malibu Clarifying shampoo my next wash :)
I use this shower filter:
15 Stage Shower Filter - Shower... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VM98BRF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I also put an AquaSana home filter on my home as well. I’m not sure how much it filters on its own, but they do pick up tonnnnsss of stuff when I end up cleaning/swapping out the filter itself.
Other than that, I do an at home keratin treatment (salon quality product off Amazon) once every six months or when I feel my hair matting lol Rejuvenol Brazilian 24hours... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KTESK5Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share also pricey, but I get 50+ treatments off that one bottle, as opposed to paying $300 at a salon to do it once.
I went overboard with more info, but I hope it helps. The oiling, shampooing less, shower filter has helped 90% of the problem - the other 10% is me being extra lol
LOVE the red! You should try this conditioner. I’m using it to maintain my dark brown to copper hair but this might work with your hair as a dye since your blonde keracolor
Okay so there’s a couple products I think you want to try:
First try a packet of “hard water wellness” by Malibu c- it demineralizes deposits in your hair from hard water- it’s basically a hair facial and you can even get it on Amazon pretty cheap even though it’s a professional product.
I am a big fan of pre-shampoo, there’s an aloe and coconut water one that is really great and also really affordable on Amazon- the brand is called African pride, it’s a pre shampoo mask basically, really hydrates and dry angles the hair.
Renpure leave in conditioner and coconut cowash, I personally use cowash every other time I shampoo and then I use a regular shampoo in between those washes- For shampoo and conditioner I love hair food coconut milk and chai, or morrocanoil hydrating shampoo.
Style, I use mousse and a little gel, brush through while soaking wet (I use a wet brush a denman doesn’t work for me my hair is way too long) I then plop it in a tshirt for about 20 minutes, I add more mousse and air dry- if I’m in a rush I’ll diffuse but i now live in Arizona so it’s pretty unnecessary here lol. I then use a hair oil- I love ones that are strengthening, the one I use is an amla oil.
I’ll add some links!
Do you bun it up with a ponytail tie or something gentler? Bun sticks, hair forks, and similar might put less stain on the hairline behind your bangs. How and what. The video shows the bun secured with one stick, but I recommend crossing it with a second to better distribute the weight of your hair.
This is the problem. You look like you have very sensitive skin prone to drying and you are basically using detergent on your scalp to wash it. This dries your hair out in a way that conditioner cannnot fox. Get a good natural shampoo. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but not the regular drug store stuff. Something like this
I know you mentioned feeling overwhelmed with curly hair, I felt the same not too long ago! Especially with how pricey the products people were telling me to use. I didn't even know if they would work for me, I wasnt ready to drop 100+$ yet.
This is what I do, the products are working for me, I'm sure there is better out there but these are affordable and I like how my hair looks. Also note I'm not a professional, so if someone else recommends differently probably go with them haha
1) I only brush my hair wet, usually in the shower after rinsing out conditioner. I use a wet brush
2) I use "strictly curls" shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner are 10$ a piece, the leave in was cheaper but I don't remember by how much. I also spritz argan oil in it I use this brand
Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Dry Oil, 4 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072BPDJR1/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_NTD2SQN3776FMXQXXFPX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
3) shampoo and condition normally, brush out hair in the shower, then use an old t shirt to dry your hair (helps prevent static), then flip your hair over and scrunch in some leave in conditioner, and then spritz with argan oil.
I hope this helps start you off!!
Hello. Mother of multiple kids here. Your hair is too pretty to sacrifice on the altar of motherhood. If the baby is pulling at it, put it up in these fancy yet fast updos. She styles them messy, but you can also coil them tight and neat. While these buns can be held up by a single stick as demonstrated, I prefer to cross it with a second stick to more comfortably distribute the weight. If you don't have any bun sticks, I recommend these; they're inexpensive, smooth, light, durable, and an easy length to work with. You can see me wearing them in my post history.
At night, I put my hair in a simple braid. That prevents any elbows pinning it down as various children migrate from their beds to mine.
1.5) While you wait for your hair to fill back out:
•Blunt cuts will make hair look thicker. Even just a trim can unify the ends more and give a look of more fullness. No need to do anything dramatically different (unless you want to!)
•Keep your normal styling routine, as long as it’s still working for you. Just be sure to use heat protectant anytime you apply heat so those tiny hairs can grow long and strong! Avoid super tight hairstyles like tight braids or ponytails (or just don’t do them every day.) Give your scalp breaks from that tension.
• Amazon has super cheap satiny pillowcases. Idk if they actually make that huge of a difference, but they do feel smooth on my hair and face [www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6PDY7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dl_564Q9P8GA4AC8D4KAG0A](www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6PDY7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dl_564Q9P8GA4AC8D4KAG0A)
• cheap clear mascara or hairspray on a toothbrush can tame any flyaways that you dislike. (Although I think even your bed head looks cute - it’s got that beachy effortless thing
• Different areas of your scalp may have lost different amounts of hair, so switching up your part may give you a little boost too.
Good luck!
I’m unsure, but I always get my bands from Amazon and always double- or triple-band because one won’t hold my hair!
Do they make box dye in that color? Yes. Is that what your hair will look like after using it? It depends on your natural or base hair color.
I think the short cut is fine but have you tried cloth headbands? They would look super cute on you and you’d only have to rely on them a couple weeks until your bangs grow a little more. I bought these and absolutely love wearing them:

I personally have used the one in the link below but I picked cheap. If the scar was on my face I might spend more money to try the expensive ones but I have no idea the quality difference or if there is one. So lots of grains of salt here :)
Reusable and Washable Silicone Scar Sheets-12 Sheets,Soften and Flattens Scars Resulting from Surgery,Burns, Hypertrophic, C-Section and More,Silicone Scar Removal Patch Away,3"×1.6",(6 Month Supply) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F1ZGF2J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_QYE9ZEERYGXQHVBQVPDE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Try a wide headband like this. This way, if the discoloration fades in a few weeks, you won't be stuck with awkward bangs to grow out.
I'd say that just reading your comment made me tired, but I'm almost in the third trimester so what doesn't make me tired? (But when this baby is on my boob it's going to be heaven!)
Anyway, since it sounds like you want to do something new with your hair, may I suggest hair forks? They're as much effort as a sloppy ponytail bun, but actually look polished. Coil your hair into a bun, drive the fork through your head hair, bun, and head hair again, done. YouTube has many videos on how to use these.
Try this, castor oil reallly helps with keeping the integrity of your and helps with growth!
Or biotin oil- both are great!

I use L’Oréal shampoo in an orange bottle, something something with oil. Conditioner too. I ALWAYS use a wide tooth comb and start at the bottom when it’s wet.
These brushes have been great when her hair is dry. Wet brushes are good while wet but dry hair, not so much.
For reference my daughter, also 9, has hair almost to her waist and it’s thick. Gets super tangled.

Before you make the chop, try putting your hair up in one of these hair forks. They're the longest I could find on Amazon and the price isn't bad. Twist your hair into a coil, poke the fork through head hair (to anchor), flattened bun, a little more head hair on the other side, done. It's the same effort as a lazy ponytail bun but looks far more polished.
Without sounding like I broken record, I agree with everyone saying your easiest, cheapest option is to accept it and love it. But I understand if you still want to fill it in. But keep in mind a good chunk of how your hairline looks comes down to genetics. And if your postpartum hair thinning is a common issue. If you're still interested I have a few tips you can try.
Stop putting unnecessary stress on your hairline. What I mean by that is to stop tying your hair in tight hair styles. Even the headband you have in your hair in this photo looks like your putting so much stress on the hair. Also if you do braided hair styles, loosen them. Try to leave your hair lay flat and normal without accessories as often as possible.
Apply oils and do hot oil treatments. Grab some oil, run it between your hands to warm it and massage to area once a night for a minute. This will bring blood flow to it and hopefully encourage hair growth.
Take over counter vitamins. Vitamin B also known as Biotin is crucial for hair growth. You can take it topically or orally. I personally had the best results with liquid Biotin. A lot of hair growth product contain some biotin.
Be gentle. Your hair isn't built to put up with obsessive tugging and pulling. When your comb/brush your hair do it from tip to root. And even have it lubercated with something such as a conditioner.
Above all there's makeup designed to make the hair line look fuller. I don't know much about that product but if you're curious, licenced hairdresser Kayley Melissa has an incredible video on fixing thin hair. You can find her video here.
This hair oil on Amazon! Christalli liquidi
As well as all the excellent advice, it seems to me your hair might be thin and fine. Layers and a few inches will have a big impact
Of course! This is the brand I like :)

I’m wearing these subtle falsies in at least the second and third pictures. I think the first one is just mascara.
omg my hair is too. you probably have curly hair i didnt realise this until a few months ago, what i would recommend is investing in some goos anti frizz oils and good shampoo and conditioner, i unfortunately cant really help you on that one as that’s something im trying to figure out myself however the anti frizz oil i have at the moment is this one and that seems to be working. right now my hair routine is brush my hair before i wash it, do shampoo twice to make sure i get all the dirt out etc; and then conditioner. then i get out brush my hair again put in a hair mask and leave that in for however long and wash out in cold water then get a cotton top and wrap my hair leave it for until its mostly dry but still wet, make sure theres no knots and let it air dry on its own and then use your oils to keep the frizz down.
itll take a while trust me but if you dont want to straighten your hair to keep the frizz away because honestly it does more damage then good then this is probably your next best bet. hope i helped:))
I got the dark brown ones: AISI QUEENS Clip in Bangs 100% Human Hair Extensions Reddish Brown Clip on Fringe Bangs with nice net Natural Flat neat Bangs with Temples for women One Piece Hairpiece (Air Bangs, Dark Brown) Air Bangs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TDKWRZX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ABC4ZZTRXVTE0PND39S6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
My only complaint is that you can see the clip on piece when viewed from above. So it’s not great for daily wear (though there are ones that have hair covering the top clip on piece) but it’s a cheap easy way to demo bangs
You can do it but you would need ALOT of bleach and that will probably damage your hair.
You'll need to have the color entirely bleached out and then have a hair color like this applied afterwards. https://jet.com/product/detail/5ae0c0cebc144323ba75a35cc093ec3f?jcmp=pla:ggl:gen_jd_health_beauty_a3:personal_care_hair_care_hair_color_a3_other:na:PLA_344689260_23650345620_pla-154174813260:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&ds_c=gen_jd_health_beauty_...
Your hair may be prone to frizzing afterwards so make sure to take extra care of it.
My hair is a natural dark brown and I've had to have the stylist bleach it twice for it to be blonde (as a teen) The thing is...I damaged my scalp a bit. The bleach will make your head feel like it's burning or itchy.
Honestly I think it would look lovely but that’s just my opinion - maybe try clip in bangs first to get a feel for it? Then it’s no commitment 😊
Came here to say this. I used to use biolage and moroccan argan oil shampoo and conditioner but really this stuff is the jam - conditioner. Also start sleeping on a silk pillowcase pillowcase.
I think you will look cute with the buzz! There are also faux hair toppers you can get like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0947QXF3P/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_FEVYFB7PDPG6QSV8MY36 That would be super cute as well
This is the one I have and have gifted to the women in my family. I love it (although I wish it had a stand) and I recommend a plate/ dish to hold it so it doesn’t wreck any counters. It isn’t crazy fancy but it works really well.

I don't know if you can buy them outside of Japan, but here's one.
I appreciate the encouragement! This is the product I used--if you scroll through the photos the last image shows the expected result depending on the colour you start with. My natural hair is dark blonde or the middle image.
I was looking for a much cooler shade and a bit lighter. If there was a way to tone it to get rid of the orange I could live with the amount of lightening though.
My hair feels a bit coarser than before but I haven't dyed it in a long time so I'm assuming it's not too damaged. My thought is too re-do it with the same product but leave it on for less time. But I don't want to turn my hair into straw either!
I have a Babyliss and I adore it--I've been using the brand for 12+ years, and it holds up well (and I wouldn't say I'm super nice to my straightener, it's taken some tumbles). I'd go for this one: it's 1.5 inches which will work for most types of hair, and it will make a nice barrel style curl versus something more ringlet like.
I don’t know how serious you are to getting volume but you can add epsom salt to your shampoo to get rid of limp hair and also blow dry with a round brush lifting at the roots. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week and a basic conditioner that won’t weight your hair down. Honestly vo5 is super cheap and it’s great in your situation not to weigh hair down or get it greasy. I have more expensive stuff in my bathroom but I do use vo5 strawberry shampoo and conditioner because I like the smell and the other stuff was giving me a greasy scalp. I also like the vo5 shampoo for dandruff it’s moisturizing without overwhelming heavy stuff on my roots. Use a molding paste/pomade that doesn’t make hair shinny or greasy Oribe Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste 1.7 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BH3MWPK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WMSJ1BPBD1NZ0KDA5GBA I’ve seen this used on a guy it looked great lots of volume not shinny or slick just holds your hair where you want and it gives you a natural look. It lasts a while to seems expensive at first but a little goes a long ways.
Have you tried pincurls? They give that classic vintage vibe and dont require heat. Basically you start off with damp hair, put in preferably setting liquid or alternatively hairspray, mousse or even diluted gel. After that you start rolling it and pinning it with these. There is also the single pronged variety, but it basically comes down to personal preference.
This video by Rachel Maksy shows the technique pretty well (also check out her other video's, she has a lovely chaotic energy and covers all things last century vintage)
Hope this helps!
I have had bright pink hair and I used “colorditioner”, a product that’s kind of shampoo but is the same color as your hair and adds color back in. It worked great for maintaining the color but is only satisfactory at removing the build up. So I used it alternating between shampoos and that seemed to work best. Also, wash your hair in icy cold water if you can stand it!
Here’s the stuff-

So instead of everything else and the kitchen sink, you need cowboy magic detangler. You get some on your fingers and some on the knot/mat, and simply pick it out. There’s no tugging involved.

I was thinking maybe shorter with more layers.

Short, spiky pixies are pretty punk too!
