I really like it. I actually think the lack of bed frame looks nice. I have heard that moisture can become an issue if you don't have air flow around your mattress. If you decide to get one, a really low frame could get some air under there while preserving most of the look. I found this on Amazon:
Zinus Naga Folding, Full, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XL8J119/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glt_fabc_NJPFNR6B8Z8E151A2PGA
Lighting is important. Nothing beats some soft, warm light, especially if you've been under florescents all day. I like waterfall lightsand salt lamps. Additionally, tidying up for 10-15 minutes and then burning some incense always ups my mood and makes the place feel nicer.
The trim on the bottom part of the dresser is so nice, I’d try to find a headboard that echos the shape. Like this one https://www.amazon.com/Jennifer-Taylor-Home-Collection-Upholstered/dp/B01D61NBDM/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=antique+white+headboard&qid=1618427930&sprefix=antique+white+hea&sr=8-6
I bought this a few years ago and have been pretty happy with it: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKBL2ZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3rT6CbHY8H8QF].
It's over your budget, but as others have stated, it's risky to go cheap on a work chair you plan to use for hours at a time.
Another option if you're not looking specifically for an office style desk chair might be an upholstered Parsons dining chair or similar. They're nice and cushy, and you can find fairly basic ones at reasonable prices on Amazon, Wayfair, and sometimes at thrift and second hand stores.
Another option is using window cling for privacy and a tension rod for b/o curtains.
If you want curtains that are floor-to-ceiling, you can use a standard curtain rod bracket with a closet rod holder on the soffit. Buy them at a local hardware store and save a lot. Be sure to mount the bracket to the wall, not the ceiling, because repairs will be easier/cheaper when your lease is up.
Put the clothes in totes then label them so now all you see is a totes that all look the same.
Use a window privacy cling. It will still allow some movement of light, but removes the reflective quality. It's an interesting armoire, but as a general design rule (FS), mirrors shouldn't reflect from the bed.
I would suggest a hidden backlight behind the plants. Kinda like this.

This is similar to mine. I’d go look at the brand but I currently have a dog sleeping on me. Obviously I can’t disturb her!

A cheap suspension rod and cute curtains.
Edit// Saw your comment about slouchy. They won't. In fact, you'll be happy to have easy access to the washer/dryer because the majority of time you won't want them pulled and won't want to mess with a big barrier just to do laundry.
There are also these decorative window films you could replace the plain frosted film with (assuming it's a film and not actually etched glass). This kinda deco pattern could work well with the other stuff you've got going on.
Maybe this on either side of the painting and definitely a standing lamp.

Amazon! It’s surprisingly sturdy and doesn’t look cheap at all. Although I do see they’ve raised the price $50 since I bought it last year.
We put a clear vinyl protector on it, but it’s not in the picture. vinyl protector sheet
Hey guys, sorry for the late reply! Floor lamp is from article paired with a GE grow bulb
Man, this is what happens when open floor plans go way too far lol.
It looks too narrow to be used as a dining counter, no place for knees or a full sized plate? If that's the case then I would work on actually dividing the rooms. My ideas would be hanging plants, like pothos or trailing ivy, hanging art on a ceiling track (maybe a stained glass panel in a frame), or room dividers like this.
https://www.amazon.com/Kernorv-Partitions-Separator-Decorative-Partition/dp/B074WN1ZG3
I've seen lots of "starter tool kits" that have all the basics and are fairly reasonably priced. Search "tool kit" on Amazon and you'll find highly rated sets priced from $15 and up, depending on how fancy you want to get. Some even include a drill (not the $15 ones, of course).
One thing I would add to the list of must-haves if you buy a lot of "some assembly required" furniture is an Allen key ratchet set. Do your poor hands a favor and do not use the dinky little Allen key that comes with the furniture. This one from Amazon has screwdriver bits too, so it's pretty multi-purpose.
Like this one! (https://www.amazon.com/Greenco-Tier-Over-Door-Drying/dp/B010CBS5BC) (Sorry for the amazon link).

Thank you so much!! Here’s the info on the bed frame:
I bought it on Amazon here a month ago, but it’s currently unavailable. It’s also sold out on the brand’s website here, but they can email you when it’s back in stock. For reference, mine was $255 after tax on Amazon for the king size. I hope this helps!
It's messy. You need a shoe rack with multiple shelves and a table top. Something like this. And then you can put bins on top too.
Ohh I really like that! I LOVE all of the white. I need a new duvet cover and I think I'm going to get one like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FVYMWY9/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_NWW2FW8VD4S94ZWB6VN0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Yes! I got it on Amazon. It’s this one!
I love it. When I bought it, it was on sale so I got it for significantly cheaper, but it’s great quality and very durable. It fills the space really nicely.

I just posted my apt but my bedroom and living room have portable AC units. They are like a regular window unit in that they cool a room efficiently (not one of those ice water things that aren’t real AC’s).

I’ve fallen in love with these pillowcases on Amazon. They’re great too for minimizing frizzy hair, oily skin. The light grey or the cyan blue would look nice.
Maybe a nesting coffee table? (Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Furniture-Company-Industrial/dp/B081ZQR3JS/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Nesting+Tables&qid=1611818148&s=furniture&sr=1-5&ts_id=3734221 ) That way you can keep them stacked together to keep it from taking up a ton of space but also pull them apart if you need more space, like if you have friends over and are eating together in front of the TV or whatever

These are the exact lights I use. Not going to lie they are pricey but I considered it worth the investment. Given the decent features and solid ecosystem
I personally haven't used them. But some of my friends use these and say they are also good.

But those are like two options there are literally hundreds of different smart bulbs out there.
The bookcase I think depends highly on your roommate. Some may be good with it others not. Doesn't hurt to ask though.
Also for the chair might I recommend blankets. Personally I get super cold sometimes so I usually keep one on my chair and when I'm not there keep it folded up turns a boring office chair into a pretty hanger and it adds just a bit of cozy chic lol
Hi there! I found these on Amazon and got lucky with the size! You can adjust the shelf height so we used two and then the third spare shelf got used to connect the shelves together! :) We got creative with it.
It's these shelves here: link
I'm pretty sure I have the same one. I got it from Amazon here. it looks like it's no longer available, but I'm sure there are similar ones you can find! It was pretty inexpensive, like less than $40.

I also got these used on Amazon, so I didn't pay that much for them. I paid like $86 each for them, and for as sturdy as they are, that felt like a good deal to me.
It’s a charming space. Congratulations!!!! Folks have given some thoughtful ideas. The one thing I’d suggest is a gateway (drop leaf) table. My parents had one where both sides folded down and stored four chairs underneath. When the leaves were folded down the top was about 18” wide. Super space saver. The chairs stores underneath it and you pulled them out when you needed them. That would allow you a lot more leeway in the main living space. Just a thought. Good luck. Here’s a link for one (tho it’s a bit pricey, I’m sure you could find something a bit more reasonable…just wanted to show a picture).
Lol, I didn’t think you were a hoarder. You definitely have a good skill. Wanted to suggest these acrylic shelf dividers on your shelf if interested as it would look great for organizing.
I just got This monitor & laptop mount a few days ago for my home office and it's nice to help minimize the surface area covered on a desk, you could try that for your setup. Then I would get rid of the laptop riser, maybe move the computer riser to hold some of the random items to the left of the desk, get a small filing system to put on the right side of the desk. Minimize as you're able like the others have said
I have a similar window. I bought clear acrylic shelves on Amazon so the left side there's 3 rows of plant shelves and then cobbled together an Ikea plant shelf atop a little table where I have several plants next to the window with some plant lights positioned on the shelf. I used plant hangers above the two smaller windows to hang plant lights because I am north facing in the PNW. Finally I put hooks in the upper "ceiling" part of the bay window I have to hang plants in various spots though I have a really large window in the middle.
You could buy 3 acrylic shelves for those windows if you wanted to max out your plant collection. I have been using these for 4 years without issue
The shelves are great if you don't want to take up floor space with plant furniture.
Make it into a full dressing room as stated in this suggestion. With the shelves you can add more space on your wall and in this room. Also if you want you can add these acrylic shelf dividers to organize your belongings.
How about a rotating organizer? You can condense your brushes, deodorant, any sprays and jewelry, into an organizer like this. I had one in college and it was pretty nice. https://www.amazon.com/sanipoe-Organizer-Adjustable-Cosmetics-Countertop/dp/B0721PCG3H/ref=sr_1_4?crid=XCNWCCIUC0ZG&keywords=makeup+carousel&qid=1670124473&sprefix=makeup+carousel%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-4
I also like Delonghi heaters, although I’m still on my first one.
I chose this model because of the timer. Basically I can choose time increments when the heater turns on or off. So it’ll come on in 8 hours or run for 8 hours. And even when it's off, the oil stays warm for quite a while. So it's pretty efficient in studio apartments, which is the reason I bought it.
I think Dyson products are way too hype for the price. I love my Dyson hairdryer but I bought it completely with points
I would use a Japanese screen to hide the washer dryer. https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Decor-Divider-Espresso-Japanese/dp/B07RN9B8XH/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?content-id=amzn1.sym.4d2857d0-578a-447e-ad82-f39435a4c278%3Aamzn1.sym.4d2857d0-578a-447e-ad82-f39435a4c278&keywords=shoji%2Bscreen&pd_rd_r=b970dc53-...

I live in a 1br 600sqft apartment and I got this loft bed! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B7518B6R/
I chose one with stairs because I have an arthritic cat, and I wanted him to be able to get up and down. I built it alone, which was a pain in the ass and took about 6 hours, but the stairs provide some stability, there's a small closet built in, stairs double as storage shelves, and it's a full sized bed. The listing says the weight limit is 600lbs but I'm skeptical of that because I have to tighten the screws maybe every two months from my cats tumbling around on the bed during the day.
If you can find a chase to relax while reading your books that would be great. Add a pillow and thin blanket with a small coffee table. Also if you plan on extending your shelf you could add these acrylic shelf dividers to give it a modernize look for organization.
Do not use regular Swiffer pads on your hardwood floors! Check out Bona products - they make a cleaning pad specifically meant to use on hardwood floors.
Thanks! It’s these ones.
Throw in a couple of those decorative little shelves ..maybe a hexagon shaped one. They’re adorable and I love how they look with candles and succulents on them ! (Really whatever you want to put on them would be cute!) Here is an example of the ones I like !!
I agree with everything the other commenter said (microbiologist?) to move everything closer together. Your harmony is off and everything is spaced way too far out. Move tour couch away from the wall closer to the tv. You at least want the front legs of your couch and your tv stand to be on the rug.
I think something like this would match your couch legs-maybe a grouping of 2-3 of them?
“Twist and Shout” tension rods might work. They have a lip on them to keep them secured to a smaller space. Only caveat is that wherever you’re securing them to has to all be the same height. If you have any molding that is a different height around the window it won’t work.
Isn't it so cute? The room owner said she got the sheets from amazon but that she used a filter for her picture which makes the sheets look lighter. I'm looking for cotton sheets that are the same color, do you know of any that are the same color? And if I get these sheets and maybe I can make them work better with the rest of my bed by having something like these curtains, but just covering my the stuff under my bed, if that makes sense.
All great advice!! I love the idea of placing an art piece above my bed and was actually thinking of doing some type of vertical plant/garden situation (something like this. But tbh I don’t need any more plants haha)
They have a lot of other design options as well. I recommend it!
Add a lamp, maybe some pictures or art on the wall. On the shelf you can add some acrylic shelf dividers just to organize your items.
Well, this makes me sad. I’m not sure what the situation is, but I pray that you get safer and more pleasant housing soon.
For now, though, I encourage you to ask the landlord to pay to have it properly insulated:
https://www.buildwithrise.com/stories/4-ways-to-insulate-a-container-home
Meanwhile, I agree with you that the furniture is heavy. It’s all black and overpowering for the space.
I agree with other people’s comments to get slip covers for the sofa and reclining chairs.
I would not bother hanging much art until the walls are insulated and properly built out with thin gypsum board walls.
How many people are living here? I see some floppy hats on the black credenza shelves and what looks like a child’s toy.
The corner TV and recliner set-up looks like a Gamer’s Paradise.” Someone has sat in the one chair until their head wore out the pleather. :)
A large, long plush rug will help soften it as well as floor lamps. But don’t overdo it since it seems you’re limited on electrical power outlets …?
If you read the book by Carrie McDonnall called ‘Facing Terror,’ she lived in a shipping container when she first landed in Jerusalem (?) until she later met up with her husband to help the Iraqis get clean drinking water during the war:

Godspeed.
No, the plant looks great. I would double down on plants. One idea that you could consider is placing a narrow like 8 inch table behind the couch. Then buy some fake bamboo and put a lot of bamboo between the couch and shower (or at least two). Like a table like this: https://www.amazon.com/ALLOSWELL-Entryway-Industrial-Assemble-CTHR14101/dp/B09RF1Y8SP/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=behind+couch+table+skinny&qid=1664149371&sr=8-6 and bamboo like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/6-ft-Green-Indoor-Outdoor-Decorative-Artificial-Bamboo-in-Pot-Faux-Fake-Tree-Plant-M30-8HW66/322484309 that way there will a lot of greenery to that corner. Then you can either add another plant or an art work to make the corner complete. (I have 6 plants in my living room dinning room, so I am biased for plants).
Oh, but you don’t need a cubicle at home to pin things up and get privacy from other creatives! Lmao! I totally understand what you’re saying, though. I worked in the medical field until 2020 when I had to switch gears (and I’d been taking classes in preparation) due to health issues. I’d only had a few jobs prior to that time that involved sitting at a desk and only one in a cubicle and I hated that cubicle with a passion. Lmao!
Anyway!
Here is the end table, here is the desk, and unfortunately the tv stand doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon now but the brand is Laimiko! I intentionally set out to find matching items that went well with my desk when I had a home office stipend to spend from work, this summer.
https://www.amazon.com/Mengersi-Stainless-Curtain-Canopy-Silver/dp/B07XC4B2R9/ref=asc_df_B07FSPGPN9/
Another option would be a freestanding unit, which wouldn't match the metal of the bed but if you leave curtains gathered at the corners that would be mostly hidden. I have to assume these aren't super sturdy and would personality buy some heavy duty zip ties to ensure it stays snug to the bed, but that's just me.
You welcome. Was thinking if you wanted you could use these acrylic shelf dividers on your bookshelf to organize your items. I think they would match your room.
You need art work, preferably ones with color. There are damage free frame hangers that you can use to put thing on the wall. Maybe try canvass artwork first and not framed glass ones https://www.amazon.com/Command-Medium-Picture-Hanging-Strips/dp/B07P32RHQ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=No+Damage+Wall+Hangers&qid=1663562860&sr=8-4
I have that couch and medium wood floors. I bought this rug.
I looked all through ruggable and could not find the one I wanted. Amazon was less expensive and can be replaced if it gets gross.
I have had it over a year and it is great.
My immediate thought is changing out the curtains if possible, definitely a lighter and less busy pattern for sure if possible. That overhead light is way too bright, I'd use that lamp and some simple string lights at night to keep things mellow.
Everything else seems cozy, maybe some rearranging of the furniture? Looks like that might be harder to do with the wall units in awkward spots, but it might be worth a shot if they aren't being used and can be "hidden".
If all else fails, plants. Those window sills are so perfect for small succulents or budding flowers, if you are into that sort of thing of course.
i would do a set of pictures like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mid-Century-Geometric-Minimalist-Bathroom-Unframed/dp/B09ZNTCQXX/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=DYLOZYE52XO2&keywords=set+of+paintings+for+wall&qid=1662911490&sprefix=set+of+paintings%2Caps%2C160&sr=8-6
if you go on amazon and look up set of paintings or posters or pictures you can find one that might be more your style too. let's say you use 3 of the 6 or whatever, then you have leftover pics to put anywhere else in the apartment to tie it together too
You can use some baskets to store your clothes or just fold them and use these acrylic shelf dividers for separating them.
Get a console table/ bar to go against the back of the sofa that faces the kitchen. Like this:
Granted they are pricey, but there are office chairs out there with a bit of style (some library arm chair looking ones but with office chair functionality). If it's something you will actually be using as a workstation regularly, I'd say pay the extra for comfort and style
not op but it appears to be this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MTCMHZX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3I04IKIO56ES2&psc=1
I was in-between these two, but I'm open to suggestions!
Muted, not too busy, but still has a little color. I'm not a very colorful person 😅
I would say some wall art and maybe a mirror to hang on the wall. You could add a clock somewhere that matches the design of your living room. The shelves look nice and if you want you could add these acrylic shelf dividers just to make them stand out.
I empathize!! I run a small Mooka and a small Levoit, one in living room and one in bedroom. One of them I put right next to the litter box. However, though it does help, it doesn't fully cut down on the smell (I'm actually considering buying a bigger Germ Guardian).
However, I highly highly recommend this litter box deodorizer.
Books, pictures, or if you want you can use these acrylic shelf dividers to separate your items on the shelves.

Get rid of the bed if you can at all afford it. Amazon mattress is good, and you can get a metal but simple frame for barely over $100. But the psychological benefit of that $600 spent is worth its weight in gold.
In my case, my bedroom is also huge and I still decided to go with a smaller double bed. I created a seating area with a large comfy chair and then painted the room pink and filled the walls with art. One wall is floor to ceiling art. The room feels spacious, soft, and light. EXACTLY what I need to banish the thoughts of my marriage.
Whatever your impulse is for that room, give into it. This is probably the most important room for you to “take over”. Even if you have dreams of starting again in a relationship, you need time to find yourself. While decor choices in other rooms may require you to keep the public or others in mind, the bedroom is all yours…
If you decide to brave actual plants, pothos plants are the freaking easiest in terms of live plants. If it's drooping, water it a little bit, otherwise just ignore it for weeks on end. These grow great and grow in low/no light. I'm a teacher and I have these in my classroom mainly because I can just leave them over long breaks and they're still alive.
I also like these wall planters (fake or real).
We use pet blankets similar to these. We don't care about the look as we remove them when we have guests over. And I don't vacuum them either, I just wash them once every week or two, depending on how bad our cats are shedding and how often they're on the sofa.
