Boss fights, areas, abilities, and scenes only before in the international version. Remastered audio too.
A lot of people are just excited to play one of their favorite games on their big screens in glorious HD. I am.
I think the reason no one has answered you yet is that there is a well written FAQ on the right sidebar regarding the optional bosses.
You are right in thinking that BHPL is not required for the Dark Aeon fights. However, you do need close to max stats for Strength, Defense, Agility, and Magic Defense. The max is 255, and it is pretty easy to get STR, DEF, AGL, and MGD spheres in the Monster Arena. Also, be sure to abuse the strength, magic, agility distillers with that one dude in the Monster Arena that drops 40 light curtains. I forget his name at the moment.
Once you get to Dark Ixion and Dark Magus Sisters, you will also need at least 125 Luck because their Evasion is so high that even having 255 Accuracy doesn't ensure you'll hit them every time. Having high enough Luck means you don't need to max Accuracy and Evasion. Luck and Fortune spheres are a PAIN to farm, so I would definitely suggest only doing enough to max out your 3 main guys.
I'd also suggest having Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix, Auto-Protect, and Ribbon or Auto-Potion on your 3 main fighters. Most guides suggest Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku. Also, make sure to get rid of all your Potions and Hi-Potions so your Auto-Potion is popping X-Potions.
Your fights will mostly keep Tidus and Rikku in a support role while Wakka unleashes Attack Reels. Keeping Auto-Life on your characters isn't 100% necessary, but does help as an insurance policy.
EDIT Also, it's much faster to use the Don Tonberry AP trick than to constantly farm Omega Dungeon.
I'm not intending to give this snarkily or whatever, but if you aren't familiar with GameFaqs, this place has every kind of FAQ you could want for what you are asking about, including guides for the Dark Aeons and suggested builds.
It's a mode in the game you can change that allows a character's overdrive bar to increase in other ways besides the default. Such as if you set the healer overdrive on Yuna then everytime she heals a character her overdrive bar increases. There are other ones such as it increasing whenever the character attacks. I think the characters get it depending on how much they heal/attack/etc. I never really used the healer mode overdrive except during certain boss battles.

It's unique, it's the only of that type. Turns out it's 0-slotted and not 1-slotted so you can't even modify it. I wouldn't modify the buckler either, just cuz.
******************** 0-Slotted Longsword: ********************
Found: Initially equipped by Tidus (given to him by Auron in Zanarkand). Can be purchased at Macalania Travel Agency for a short period of time.
Why it's on the list: Ugh. I hate having this on the list, but since you can permanently screw yourself out of this item if you sell it, then it might as well be on here.
When it becomes lost forever: After the events take place your first time through Macalania Temple.
Usefulness: None whatsoever.
And here's the buckler:
********************** MAGIC COUNTER BUCKLER: **********************
Found: Sold by the Hovercraft merchant in the Calm Lands, who only appears on your first visit to this area.
Why it's on the list: Similar to the No Encounters weapon, this piece of equipment is unique because Magic Counter is a weapon ability, not an armor ability.
When it becomes lost forever: There have been multiple conflicting reports about when the Hovercraft merchant disappears, about which exact scene triggers his disappearance. Buy the Buckler immediately, if not, no complaints.
Usefulness: You can certainly make use of this armor throughout a lot of the game, up until you get Tidus's Caladbolg. Can be quite helpful while capturing as you most likely won't be putting Magic Counter on a capture weapon. Can be quite helpful for some of the later boss fights.

as for the fiend catching deal, are you talking about the monster arena? that's new to me as well so i've been looking for a guide, however, as i'm not even done with ffx yet, i have had to lock up my ffx-2 memory card so I don't get tempted to play it. GameFAQs usually has just the guide you need... http://www.gamefaqs.com/vita/708347-final-fantasy-x-2-hd-remaster/faqs will show you many different guides and FAQs. If that doesn't get you what you need, try searching for the international version FAQs. =)
EDIT TO ADD: http://www.gamefaqs.com/vita/730650-final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/faqs/15294 Monster arena FAQ that got good ratings.
Try installing Untitled Project X.
Originally my DS2 didn't work with XboxCE and I had to switch USB ports.
If all else fails try using XboxCE
The search/fuzzy filtering would be pretty easy, I might add that in shortly. I actually use localStorage, which is similar to a cookie in practice but doesn't send all of the stored data to the server with every request.
This Zanmato Guide is what you seek. It's a long read but very informative.
Basically everytime Yojimbo executes certain attacks his compatability goes up, if he dies it goes way down, and if you don't pay him enough and he executes his weaker attack (the one with the dog) compatability drops.
From the guide (ways to make Yojimbo do Zanmato frequently): -Never pay Yojimbo 0 gil. -Never let Yojimbo die. -Always keep his Overdrive full. -Never pay Yojimbo less than 1000 gil. -Pay him all your money and hope the random factor is on your side...
edit: (ways to make yojimbo do Zanmato more frequently)
There's got to be a way to grind.

Where's your last save at? If you had just Rikku and Auron at least one should be able to survive. You must have a load of Sphere Levels built up anyway....
Amazon has a similar one for just a few dollars

Shipping takes a long time though, I ordered a few weeks ago and still waiting
You can also customize it onto any open armor slot with 30 purifying salt. You get 99 for unlocking Fafnir. I like creating Hope [Armor] with this and HP+MP Stroll.

Trophies. And without it, stat maxing would take decades. And some of the hardest fights in the game are in the arena
Edit: Actually stat maxing would be impossible because there is no other way to get enough strength/luck/magic/magic def/etc nodes. As well, from the arena guy you can obtain clear nodes which clears the node of your choice of its stat. Look here for a full stat maxing guide.
Edit 2: edited grammar in the edit
I guess you need money for bribes? Try getting the items in other ways (have look at KADFC's item database), maybe you can get what you need from the monster farm.
Also, what are you trying to accomplish? You don't need to farm at all to complete the story. If you just want to kill all optional bosses, Zanmatou is the most time-effective way to go.
Monster Master-<br> Complete Shinra's Bestiary. Does this help at all? (comments)
If so, this may help a little.
The short version is: The PS4 controller works natively with Windows as a DirectInput controller, which is great it plenty of cases, but a lot of games want an XInput controller (i.e. a 360 controller). DS4Windows and other programs are called wrappers. That is, they see the DS4 connected, hide it, and forward its inputs to the game as a fake 360 controller. They basically translate from DirectInput to XInput.
The setup can sometimes be iffy, but follow the instructions and you should be fine. The end result is a controller that works fine on any game and even can have plenty of added features (such as using the touchpad as a mouse).
Just got the soundtrack CD box (from Amazon.co.jp here) and I can recommend it. Note that this is not the remastered version of the soundtrack. I'm enjoying hearing the tracks from the game again and the box set is nice-looking and decently constructed as well.
Its $50 on the playstation store, and a quick amazon search shows they have no new copies physically
