You can use the blue card as a DSI card. I don't anymore, but when I did, I was using a specific Gateway blue card multi kernel. I've uploaded it for you so you can download it. http://www.filedropper.com/gateway3ds-multi-card-kernel It has some emulators included in it as well, and it's straightforward to use.
The Game Boy Zero is a Raspberry Pi shoved into a Gameboy shell. There are a number of linux distros for the Raspberry Pi that are geared towards running emulators. The most popular one is probably RetroPie.
/r/emulation will be of more help to you here, since this isn't really a flash cart and no real Gameboy hardware is actually involved.
I'd take microSD card out from flashcard, put it into computer, copied all the data from microSD card somwhere as a backup (IMPORTANT!), then:
install official SD Card Formatter: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
use it to format your microSD card with option "overwrite format" (instead of "quick format") selected, it may or may not show errors on microSD card
copy all your backuped files back on microSD card
put it into flashcard and check result, if it works ok now
Sounds like an adapter fail.
Also in the future, please don't bother with anything aside from this formatter tool for SD Cards. I know this won't help for cards over 32GB if you want FAT32 formatting, but if you want to properly have memory formatted in the scheme intended by the actual makers and specification authority, use this for all your card formatting in the future if you want to rule out format related issues.
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
I don't know what you could do to save the data tbh if nothing is being displayed on the windows explorer. Sorry I couldn't help there.
Try formatting the sd card with this program (do an overwrite format): https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/. And use this kernel instead of the official crappy one: https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/. Copy the R4i-sdhc folder to your newly-formatted sd card
I saw your post from yesterday stating its this card right? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YJ8R4FS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_7GQDEEVCFHRH87KQRPNP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I think this is a Ace3dS+ clone, so the kernel is here:
https://github.com/lifehackerhansol/flashcard-archive/tree/master/Ace3DS%2B_R4iLS
If you are in the US, any cheapo SanDisk Ultra off of Amazon is probably fine (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B073JYVKNX). If you are in another country I can't really help with vendors but same idea, just buy a know reliable brand like SanDisk or Samsung from a trustworthy retailer.
The 208 in 1 is fine btw, it's still a common recommendation here. The unlabeled carts I tend to suggest are the exact same thing but without the sticker or the preloaded ROMs and a bit cheaper.
I recently purchased and am happily using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KY37SZB?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details and the firmware I am using is RetroGameFan Multicart info here https://gbatemp.net/download/retrogamefan-multi-cart-update.35737/
So far every rom I've add has worked great.
The best flashcards that you can get for a DS Lite right now are the dsone clones or acekard 2i clones. These clones are not listed on amazon, I've only ever seen them on eBay or AliExpress.
You can find the timebomb cart (r4isdhc.com) and the ace3ds+ clones (r4isdhc.com.cn), they have a gold or silver label with the website name on them. The ace3ds+ is a better cart than the timebomb clones, but it's not as good as the ak2i or dsone as it's missing antipiracy patches.
I really would suggest using eBay or AliExpress over Amazon: - Here is an ace3ds+ clone on Amazon ($30): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FDBR8FB/ - Here is an ace3ds+ clone on eBay ($12.99): https://www.ebay.com/itm/175378007062
I would post an AliExpress link as it's usually the cheapest of the three - Reddit auto filters is so I can't, but I hope you get my point. You are ripping yourself off.
Did this w/ R4 2022 Wood SDHC Plus (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YJ8R4FS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) and it worked fine. Made sure to copy all contents into the microSD.
Played SoulSilver, saved progress and was able to successfully load saved state
In my experience, GBA games run awful on the DS with that emulator. I've got this card: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092HQ48V9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
recently and 2 other different ones and the GBA emu is trash.
Is this one okay? Not terribly expensive, I think I saw some people recommending it, would there be issues with the time bomb?
Hmm, that amazon listing looks like an Ace3DS+ clone, but yours doesn't seem to be. It's using a Wood-based kernel so might be some kinda BL2CK cart. You could try loading the BL2CK kernel as if it works it might be a little better than what you have, make sure to back up what's on it though incase it doesn't work. You might want to wait on trying that for if anyone else has ideas on what it is as sometimes loading other cards' kernels is dangerous, though I don't think I've ever heard of Bl2CK bricking a cart.
For cheats, yeah you should be able to use DSJ's database, but that doesn't really help narrow it down. Your cart is using some version of 'Wood R4', but as Wood used to be open source there's a ton of cards that use something based on it.
PS. you can shorten any Amazon link to the format https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5GV8LL4
My friend works at a little game store and a customer came in to sell it since they "found it", but since he doesn't like to buy things like this, the customer decided to just leave it behind so my friend gave it to me since he knows I'm into modding 3DS' in case it might be of use to me. I tried looking up what it is, but the closest I can seem to find of it is this amazon listing: Hyperlink since the amazon listing page is LOOOONG

I tried to search up IVXCR, but it only shows me the listing again, and then listings for other flash carts.
https://www.amazon.com/Update-Version-R4ISDHC-Memory-Nintendo/dp/B08YJ8R4FS
This is one that I was looking at but unsure if it’s worth it or not. May look into the ones you suggested. Only think I’m not familiar is the kernels and putting software in them. The cart I got was already loaded so I just had to pop it in the pc and add whatever roms I wanted so looking for something simple like that but I’m sure it isn’t hard to add whatever to one.
Ah ok so it is Android, download zarchiver from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver
You can extract .7z files using it. Once extracted, move the files to your micro SD card. I believe you can do this with Google files
Yeah, I got this one. It doesn't look fake to me, but I wouldn't call myself an expert on the topic.

I doubt it's the reader because the first time I noticed it was when I tried to turn the cart on and it displayed something like "can't find_dsmenu.dat" and THEN I checked it through the computer. Unless it corrupted it when I put the files on the card? I'm using a micro sd to sd card adapter inserted directly into my mac. The adapter doesn't have a name on it and I don't remember where I got it from.. I think I have a sandisk one around here somewhere, I may have even used it at first, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'll look for it and see if there's an improvement when I use that instead.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0831TYNNJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details This is what I got.. I just got this one since it was cheap and easy to use and set up when I don't understand how to do a lot of this. Some of the stuff you said was even a little confusing for me. I don't really understand what GBARunner2 is. Is it software I would put on the SD Card I have in my R4 Card?
Yeah flashcard sites tend to be a bit sketchy... That card is an Ace3DS+ clone, so simply download either of the Ace3DS+ kernel 7Zs from the flashcard archive, then just extract everything from the 7z to the root of the flashcard's SD card. The only difference is that the "Lite" one doesn't bundle any emulators.
PS. you you can shorten that link to https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0999B45XB fyi
when i went to download the software the websites english was terrible, i carried on downloading it anyway and my pc got infected with a virus from it
im wondering, i have a 2015 macbook pro. Could i possibly use this usb microsd adapter?
The card comes with a MicroSD, but no adapter. You’ll either have to use a device you can insert microSDs into (I used to use my phone) or buy an adapter.
If your computer has a regular SD Slot, You can find a regular SD card adapter device, which you can insert a microSD into. Many micro SDs come with SD adapters. You can get them really cheap. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0047WZOOO/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_XH8Z43FB8ZPQVHBRJWMX
If you computer doesn’t and it has a usb slot, you can buy these usb drivers which you can insert the microSD into, like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BXSKPES/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_dl_0EJ8DY4WQ91SVABZHZDN
Well I thought I uploaded pictures of the r4 cart to my question but somehow I didnt. So I have a r4 gold upgrade. Its a dual-core cart with a wood kernel update. Here the link to it. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B09G6S7GN4?ref_=pe_27091401_487187591_302_E_DDE_dt_1
And I tried to launch many ROMs but the most important ones were Pokemon (Platin, Diamond, Pearl, Heartgold, Black/White 2).
32gb Class 10 should do the trick. SanDisk and Samsung are both really good. PNY, Kingston, Lexar, and Kioxia are all reputable but I haven't had a chance to use them yet.
If the R4 didn't come with an (micro)/SD card reader you may need to pick one up.
If you don't want to shop around for the best price here's a 32gb from SanDisk. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-UHS-I-Memory-Adapter/dp/B00M55C0NS/
I use this R4 Card and the lameboy emulator It works perfectly
Hey, hope this helps!
At this point in time any "flash card" will work for what you need but you'll NEED "YSMenu" to run them with next to no issues.
Fake Cards have a "TimeBomb" which can mess up your cart
Install YSMenu to avoid "TB" problems
YSMenu Download/Guide - https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/YSMenu
also this flash cart says it can play 3ds games but i've seen people say it can't, so can anyone confirm that for me? Thanks!
hey guys i found this on amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08YJ8R4FS/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
would anyone recommend?
The seller I got mine from doesn't seem to sell it anymore but it may still pop up from time to time. Got one on AliExpress last year for $85, it was $99 and I think I got it during the site wide 11/11 sale with a decent discount applied.
Works perfectly so far. Not sure what they skimped on but I'm sure its not as good as one you might get from Krikzz but at that price I couldn't resist. The hardware is open source so its not like you're buying an Everdrive Clone either.
GBA backup tool should work fine, try reformatting your micro sd using this https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ it usually fixes weird issues like that (remember to back up your files before reformatting)
This is the SD formatting software you should use, but you will need a computer. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
And you're probably right about issues arising from inserting and removing from your phone. Do you unmount the SD card before pulling it out?
Ideally you should format using this software : https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
However, if you're working with no issues then you're all good. Only if you have issues do you need to reformat or experiment with non-default formatting parameters.
Then get yourself a 8-32gb micro sd and put any of the 2 kernels here https://flashcard-archive.ds-homebrew.com/Ace3DS+_R4iLS/
Your card should be a dstt clone based on the label, try reforfatting your micro sd using SDFormatter https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/eula_windows/SDCardFormatterv5_WinEN.zip (make sure you back up your files first). The retrogamefan gbatemp thread I linked you earlier is the only guide I’d trust for YSMenu, and it has some pretty detailed instructions you can read if you haven’t already
If it's an original 3DS that takes full size SD cards, there are adaptors that allow it to work with microSD cards (example: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDHC-Standard-Packaging-SDSQUNC-032G-GN6MA/dp/B010Q57T02)
https://www.downloadroms.io/ is an amazing place for roms, easy downloads and no viruses, as for setting them up, I haven't got my R4 card yet but from what I've seen it should be just dragging the roms onto the micro sd card and then playing.
It is. The omega support ROMs up to 32MB only, which is the max size gba games could have.
If you're interested in the technical side of those gba video carts, here you can read more the cartridge and how the ROM was dumped.
Still on offer here. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Top-quality-game-card-16-bit-for-snes-original-Free-shipping/32727448910.html They have it listed as a different name probably to not have it pulled so quickly. Messaging the seller they do send pictures of an actual sd2snes.
Oh I assure you I'm using the latest Sakura kernel. The savestate feature is complete trash on every single version I've tried it, and well... that's the only selling feature of Sakura. YSMenu has every AP patch, and doesn't have a savestate feature, which is much better than Sakura's incomplete AP patches and a completely broken feature that no one really uses.
You need to format with FAT32, 32KB allocation unit size. It must be that, as that is the fastest you will get out of any SD card. For 32GB and lower, perhaps use SD card formatter: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
should be fine with FAT32 and 32KB allocation unit size. If it dies even on YSmenu (which you should be using even if it doesn't work because the original kernel is a hot mess) then try formatting with SD Formatter: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
This is the gbatemp’s original thread of YSMENU:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/
If your cart is timebombed and if it’s compatible, you can follow the instructions there and use it. I suggest you to register and post your questions there. Also, to format your sd card (after backing it up - always do it), use this program:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
Select full overwrite.
Format using this program (full overwrite checked):
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/sd-memory-card-formatter-for-windows-download/
There is a mac version, just go to the main site and choose your os if you’re not under windows.
Try YSMenu:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/
(Copy the contents of the r4i-sdhc folder to the root of your sd card)
Dont forget to first backup your files and format your card using this program (select full overwrite):
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/sd-memory-card-formatter-for-windows-download/
Let me know if it works.
Back up your files
Format your sd card using this program (overwrite format):
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/sd-memory-card-formatter-for-windows-download/
http://www.mediafire.com/file/foxvcoak18n8kzo/R4-King_YSMenu.rar/file
Let me know if it works or not.
I had this problem but not with your cart, a different one, I had to use the SD card format tool from https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/index.html When I used the formatting tools on Windows or Mac it didn't work, something about the way they format the cards. Once I formatted with this, I put my latest firmware on the SD card and the cart booted fine.
I successfully transferred aura new following digiex’s guide and using its distribution file. Try using this program to format your card, it’s the recommended program to format cards to use on flash carts.
Try using this to format sd: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
My 99% percent of failures using similar cards were due to using windows stock formatter.
Using a new kernel won't cause a brick, where did you heard that? also here's the ysmenu link: https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/. and do an overwrite format on the card with this tool: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
It should work fine; use this tool to format it.
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
I found that recommended on this sub. My 16gb Sandisk card quit giving me trouble after I used this tool.
Don't use the panasonic one, it's an outdated version of this one: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/. And make sure you got ysmenu from here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/. Extract the "R4i-sdhc" folder only to your micro sd. ysmenu works for many different cards that's why it has so many options
is it new sd card? have you formatted sd card properly? have you tried official sd formatter?
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/
with full erase and size adjustment both on
if you are formatting card manually (linux, windows etc), supposedly the biggest cluster size ("allocation unit size") the better, like 32k to achieve faster loading times
If you're using a MacBook, you could use keka: https://www.keka.io/en/ Or if you can't install the version above for whatever reason (getting it from the app store is not free), you can always use The Unarchiver to open up the 7z file. It's free and can be obtained from the app store for free too. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-unarchiver/id425424353?mt=12
I can represent Mod3dscard to introduce you us, we are site supporting shipping from USA and EU, also we take both Credit card and Paypal payment, also we are the few sites that has Https, if you have more questions, just email to [email protected], or read our feedback here https://www.trustpilot.com/review/mod3dscard.com.
That's an SD card, not DS cart. You can't put it into a DS. The X-in-1 carts tend to be flash carts with preloaded MicroSD cards, so you'd need a flash cart (something like this, not sure if this particular cart is a good one) plus a MicroSD card (something like this), plus the files (which you'd dump from your own physical games; using a site that provides the files for download is illegal, so I can't tell you to do that).
Ah, I returned the ones I had because I was having issues with it, but I'm buying a difference one: 2021 SDHC Wood Version Plus R4 SDHC Adapter Card with 16GB TF SD Card for DS DSI 2DS 3DS NDS, No Game timebomb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FDBR8FB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_6BGCXJRHGVRRJZ094A2Y
Does this look like the right card? It only has a couple reviews but looks just like the ace3ds clone in the stickied post and has faster shipping than anything on ebay.
Another noob here with a 3DS. I just bought the Unlabelled Red Chipped Cart on Amazon.
From perusing your other comments, it seems like these cannot run 3DS games, so essentially everything after Pokemon Black and White 2?
Im guessing I'll have to hack it eventually, but is it worth keeping the cart if I just want to use it to play Pokemon GBA ROM hacks? Or would hacking the 3ds let me do that anyways
A minor tip about chargers for DS Lite - any USB charger you have lying around will work fine with these cables:
Sorry for the late response, I don't use Reddit that often so only just saw your reply. I got a r4 SDHC gold pro, and it seems legit to me, the normal firmware works on it and everything. The SD card it came with was unfortunately busted, and I've seen a few others mention my exact issue with the exact same card since, but replacing it seems to be a suitable fix.
Here's the exact card I got! It's not one I'd recommend unless you buy another microSD with it, but it gets the job done now I sorted it out.
is This (https://www.amazon.com/adapters-Micro-Works-DSIXL-2DSXL/dp/B0831TYNNJ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=T4C00EE7PSLF&dchild=1&keywords=r4+card+ds&qid=1608753460&sprefix=r4+%2Caps%2C222&sr=8-3) the R4 card you're referring to? And is there step by step tutorial for how to install the YSMenu and ROMs?
Got mine for $44 on Amazon !
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCKW4CF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As others said, the EZ Flash Omega is your GBA solution. As for DS games, I'd recommend the R4i RTS 3DS card. It's very easy to use, and if you get a proper one it won't have a timebomb (which will disable the card when the date is past a certain point).
The links above are just examples, but they should get you in the right direction.
Then you just need to grab the kernel from the official R4 site (pick the one that matches the label on your card) and make some folders for your roms, and you're set.
Hi, This is out of topic but do you know if the R4i 3DS Gold Plus can support this microSD memory?
https://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-Ultra-Micro-UHS-I-Adapter/dp/B073JWXGNT/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1530499632&sr=8-4&keywords=micro+sd+32gb&dpID=41HMnFGO9zL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Alright sweet, thanks for the info :) What exactly do you mean by the SD reader though? Isn't that what I linked in the post "https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Reader-RS-MMC-Support-Warranty/dp/B006T9B6R2"? Or do you have a different recommendation?
So I was thinking of grabbing a flash cart for my GBmicro, but looking at the price ($100usd for the Everdrive GBA), I was wondering if there's any advantage to that over, say the Revo K101
The absolute cheapest SD card solution would be the Super UFO Pro 8. It won't run any of the enhancement chip games except for DSP games (as long as there's a corresponding DSP game inserted into it's cartridge slot), and it has an 8 character name limit, but it works.
The flashcart is fake?
I got the SD card from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003WIRFD2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I dunno if you mean the Flashcart or the SD card. I should note it shows the icon for the random japanese game on the DS Menu as it should.
Is this a common thing for people to sell fake flashcarts to scam people?
Alright, for the Pokémon games, Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal will all work with the LameBoy GBC emulator. Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 are all DS games and therefore are compatible with just the ROM files. The other Mystery Dungeon series games are compatible too (the ones released on the DS), I don't remember them all by name. The only one that won't work is Pokémon Red Mystery Dungeon because it's for the GBA. All Pokémon Ranger games are compatible (the ones released on DS). Basically you can play any Pokémon game that was released on the GameBoy/GameBoy Color or the Nintendo DS. This was all just from my personal knowledge. I may have missed a few Pokémon games. As for the Micro SDHC, I'd recommend this one. Glad I could help :)
There is another GBA flashcart available. The supercard mini sd which also work on the DS and on a GBA. Though I don't know if it works with a link cable. But this http://www.r43ds.org/products/EZ-Flash-IV.html is by far the better card in my opinion. I have not tried it with the supercard as I don't have that, but the I second GorrillaRibs, all of those games work and I have not had any issues. Just make sure you get the NEW EZ Flash with the MicroSD card slot. The original one was mini SD and it was limited to older / slower cards and a maximum of just 2GB cards as well. The new version uses Micro SD cards and will work with even 32GB cards.
Oh I used to love my m3 perfect, but had the same issue with the battery dying and then it stopped working completely. I second the EZ Flash IV. but def. make sure to get the new one with the micro SD card slot and not the Mini SD card slot like this http://www.r43ds.org/products/EZ-Flash-IV.html ... It works better and mini-sd cards are super hard to find. Plus, I think the mini SD version only works with cards up to 2GB in size whereas the micro SD card version actually supports up to 32GB in size. Mind you, 32GB might be overkill, but it's nice to have the support for it. You can alternately get the Supercard Mini SD like this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016OSTG24 but from everything that I read, the EZ Flash works a whole lot better, so it may not be worth saving a few dollars by getting the Supercard... It also has the 2GB memory card size limit like the old EZ Flash IV did too.
I wouldn't get the DSTwo+ for the time being. There are some reports of the thing bricking systems (again, due to an update by the gateway folks from the looks of it - much like they did with the r4i gold 3ds card as well). Your option on 10.2 for 3ds games is the Sky3DS card and you can actually use it to help enable homebrew as well. if however homebrew is all you want to do, then cubic ninja is the only thing you'll need. But with the current prices on that game you may just want to buy a sky3ds anyways and run that game. It's actually cheaper to get the sky3ds
