Life in Geneva is expensive, and it's hard to secure lodging for yourself unless you want to (and can afford to) check into a hotel.
If you don't speak French, you'll have a hard time finding a job, and if you have no job, you're not going to have a great time. Unless, again, you have a very cozy allowance.
Generally speaking, you may want to read:
I don't know what else to tell you but I'm happy to try and answer any specific questions you might have.
A lot of info have been compiled here: http://wikitravel.org/en/Geneva and yes it is expensive ! It's a city of banks and trading companies, so rent is through the roof for businesses. Some restaurants are worth their dime, far from the banks !

The best exchange rate is at money&com, just above the cornavin station. I have looked into this because I work for abroad and can definetly state you won´t find a better physical exchange.
The only alternative option that I found with better rates is using WISE and transferring to a swiss bank account in order to withdraw the money from the ATM.
It doesn't appear on google maps, but it should be here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=46.20706&mlon=6.14177#map=19/46.20706/6.14177
NB: it's been a year that I haven't been there. I hope it hasn't closed. Cheers

Just search "Casserole en fonte" on facebook market
I filmed this within walking distance of Geneva's city centre near Pont Butin. It is a beautiful location and worth a visit.
> secure your bike properly, because it will get stolen
This. You'll also need to buy a real and good lock, I heard the most effective and cheapest are these kind of bike locks.
