Hi,
For Google drive, the easiest way is to connect it as an external cloud (https://koofr.eu/help/connect-other-cloud-services/how-can-i-connect-google-drive-to-koofr/) and simply copy files. This is done directly Google to Koofr, so nothing is downloaded to your device. Google photos are a bit more problematic, since they are no longer a part of Google drive. You will need to download photos and reupload them to Koofr manually (note that Google photos from before 2019 are still accessible as Google drive files, so those photos should be transferable by the previous method).
Yes, Koofr does support displaying HEIC format in the gallery and thumbnail viewer.
Hi,
Our desktop app is indeed a sync and not backup app. We believe a good backup app is completely different in functionality than sync, which is why at this moment we recommend various tried and tested (open source) backup apps that work well with Koofr. Since you mentioned Mac we have a blog post for using Duplicati https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/easily-backup-files-from-your-mac-computer-to-koofr
You can check our blog for other options.

Hi.
Yes, the lifetime deal accounts include the same features as the current paid Koofr accounts, the only difference is that the length of access is a lifetime.
More on differences between the paid and free Koofr accounts:
While it is hard to know anything from just a screenshot saying Error, HBS worked well with Koofr before, so perhaps it is just a matter of some wrong settings: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/how-to-backup-your-qnap-nas-to-koofr-with-hybrid-backup-sync
Hi,
Since Photos is no longer a part of Drive, you have two options on how to transfer photos to Koofr:
Hi,
To see currently syncing files you can enable the sync icons: https://koofr.eu/help/linking-koofr-with-desktops/what-does-enabling-sync-icons-in-the-settings-do/
Whether remaining display stays depends on the kind of error. If error breaks the sync cycle (ie network down) there is no remaining or progress left to display, cycle has finished with error and a new cycle will need to start to sync again.
Thank you for explaining. Maybe I have to choose between Koofr, Mullvad and VPNing to another country, at least for now.
I guess it makes sense that a VPN provider and country with strong privacy and consumer protection would also be popular with criminals :(
Do you think that blocking every single Swiss server from one of the more popular VPNs is a reasonable result of your system? It has been this way for at least a few days (I'm a new customer).
While on these same Ch servers, I can connect to pCloud, dropbox, google and Mega cloud storage without any problems. I also have not had any problems connecting to Koofr from the Mullvad network outside of Ch.
It seems implausible that I am encountering intended behavior here, and not some bug or oversight in the detection system. Unless there is some entity using every Swiss Mullvad server to attack specifically Koofr.....?
Hi,
We tested this once more, and can assure that there is nothing wrong with this instruction of naming the remote however you want, we even did it with the space in the name:
rclone config e) Edit existing remote n) New remote d) Delete remote r) Rename remote c) Copy remote s) Set configuration password q) Quit config e/n/d/r/c/s/q> n name> Whatever name Type of storage to configure. Enter a string value. Press Enter for the default (""). Choose a number from below, or type in your own value Storage> 18 ** See help for koofr backend at: https://rclone.org/koofr/ ** ... rclone mount "Whatever name:" K: --vfs-cache-mode full The service rclone has been started.
You probably named the remote KOOFR but then user koofr as the name in the mount command, that is why it didn't work. You need to use the actual remote name in the mount instruction (see above). We will add this note to the blog.
I would like to be able to run an application from a USB flash drive.
When I go to clients for installation.
I cannot permanently install applications on their computers, so I could run portable applications temporarily.

PS
Additionally, it would also be a form of promotion for you,
if the Koofr application was included in the Portable App Directory

Hi,
You can sync whichever folder(s) you wish with Koofr, no need to limit yourself to the default Koofr folder.
Instructions and details can be found on our blog: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/setting-up-synchronization-in-koofr

Hi,
The best way to reach us is through the in-app contact form: https://koofr.eu/help/other/my-question-is-not-answered-here-how-can-i-contact-you/
The public contact form that you used is working, but it has a pretty tight spam filter due to high volume of spam, and this error you got is actually returned by this spam filter.
Hi,
If both syncs are directed in the same folder on the cloud, then they should be in sync automatically. If you want us to look into your issue please contact our support with more information: https://koofr.eu/help/other/my-question-is-not-answered-here-how-can-i-contact-you/

Hi,
The android app should upload photos automatically, but make sure you have all the settings correctly set. There is an option to only upload in WiFi, meaning it will not upload if you are on a mobile network, also perhaps you have some background activity prevented on the Android itself - battery saving modes for example can affect this as well.

Hi,
The installation of Koofr desktop client cannot be moved, but our application uses up very very small amount of space, there also are not many temporary files that would take up space.
If you wish to have sync set-up to synchronise folders from your other drive, that is possible: https://koofr.eu/help/linking-koofr-with-desktops/can-i-move-the-location-of-koofr/
Hi,
Error 429 usually means you entered the wrong password and due to many incorrect login attempts you got temporarily blocked.
You can check our zotero instructions:
https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/koofr-with-zotero-via-webdav
Pay special attention to the “how to generate application specific password you need for webdav”:
Hi,
We checked and aren't seeing any issues with regards to using Cryptomator with Koofr. So this must be an issue specific to your setup, either a problem with configuration or something else. We suggest checking our blog post with this subject and Cryptomator help docs: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/koofr-with-cryptomator-on-your-computer
>When i tried to reinstall the app OsX tells it can't verify malware. I can I solve it ?
Hi, when you get a warning: Koofr is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? from your macOS, you need to click on the Open button. You only need to do this the first time you are trying to open the Koofr desktop client. Read more here:
https://koofr.eu/help/linking-koofr-with-desktops/how-do-i-install-the-desktop-client-for-mac/
No, that is not going to be an issue.
You can find more help on connecting other cloud storages to Koofr here: https://koofr.eu/help/connect-other-cloud-services/
Hi,
for potentially malicious types of files (.exe, .zip., etc.), the password is set automatically and you will not be able to switch it off. Password protection is mandatory in those cases due to antivirus and browser requirements.
https://koofr.eu/help/share-files-and-folders/can-i-protect-a-file-that-i-share-with-a-password/
Hi,
as long as you followed the point (6) in these instructions, about generating an application-specific password with your Joplin app, you will be fine and everything will keep on working for you. It does not matter if you used one password or two different ones.

Hi,
no, there is no solution for integration with Amazon. You can read more here:

Hi,
you can read about how to connect Kodi to Koofr via WebDAV here. Instructions are equipped with pictures:
https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/browse-your-koofr-photo-gallery-in-kodi
Unfortunately, it is not possible to give access to only one folder via WebDAV.
Hi,
we will look into this and possibly put it on our to-do list for the blog. Meanwhile, you can also use rclone to encrypt your Koofr files.

Hi, In Koofr web app you will only be able to play files that are supported for playback by the browser and .mp4 is one of them. The non supported file types will need to be downloaded and played with some other player.

Our apps for all platforms can be downloaded directly from our webpages: https://koofr.eu/desktop-apps/
We do not distribute our apps through Mac or Windows store because that would prevent us from issuing quick fixes to all platforms when bugs are discovered.
Could you please let us know what is your use case in which you would need the portable version of Koofr?
Hi, you can only sort your files by name, size and modified time.
Alternatively, you can search by file type using the advanced search options. Read more here under number (7): https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/koofr-search-tips-and-tricks
Hi,
did you first manually mount the network drive in Windows? If you did, you have to remove that mount first, before you can mount the network drive through our desktop app.
Hi,
network drive will not take up any storage on your computer. It is an alternative way of accessing and editing data in your Koofr account directly from your computer. You can read more about it here: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/3-ways-to-map-koofr-as-a-network-drive-explained
We added this to our FAQ for others who might be wondering about it:
Hi, I am not familiar with Piwigo and how it works exactly. From what I could gather from the quick look at their webpage, this is basically a self hosted web photo gallery? If so, you could perhaps simply mount Koofr as a Network drive on this same server and have it exposed as local files to Piwigo? I am using a similar setup with digiKam.
For achieving this, you will probably need to use rclone: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/learning-the-basics-of-koofr-with-rclone
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Syncignore file only applies while sync is in progress. If files have already been synced, syncignore will not unsync them. If files are now ignored, you can remove them on the web and they will not get removed locally.
But before you start deleting, please note, that when you create a .syncignore file inside an existing sync, you need to restart the sync to apply the rules.
We recommend creating a syncignore file before adding files into the sync folder.
You can find some more info and examples on our blog: https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/advanced-ways-to-exclude-files-from-sync
Would be great to see this in the Koofr client. However, Mountainduck comes in my mind which may solve your issue. It’s not free, but you can connect Koofr via WebDAV, remove files from the local storage or keep them offline. A file is downloaded to the cache when it is accessed oder downloaded manually.
It also supports Cryptomator out of the box.
Hi,
Server side encryption is done with automatically generated random keys, so it is not possible to use your own.
What you are asking for is basically support for client side encryption. Koofr does not yet offer that out of the box, but such features are in the works for future upgrades.
We have added our API to Rclone (https://rclone.org) just for this reason. Rclone brings transparent, open source client side encryption which you can use with Koofr. Or you can use one of the many other over-the-top encyption softwares that can connect to Koofr via Webdav.
Hope that helps.
Hi,
We just successfully installed and ran this on a M1 Mac as per these instructions. So not sure what more to suggest. Can you install and run any other apps not from app store? Obsidian for example: https://obsidian.md/download
