It seems other people on Google Play have similar problems. I see there the developer has an email ( - unless you already contacted that one). Support for these games can lacking, so you may have to cut your losses until it is fixed. If they see the bug, maybe they'll extend the deadline.
Update: Success! Used TunnelBear as a VPN on my iPad, used my account that isn't bound by my phone number (email and Facebook are linked though) in the Line app. I even bought coins using USD with my Apple ID.
Edit: I had to uninstall Line, turn on the VPN, and then sign in on the app via Facebook. I tried logging in before tunring on the VPN, and then turning it on, but it stays locked to that region.
Hi, sorry for late reply. You can try sending them a suggestion for a dark theme. Do you use a screen shader? Not exactly what you're looking for, but I recommend Flux for PC, which will apply to the whole screen.
I believe you cannot have more than one smartphone to have the app with the same account. You can use your PC with your phone and possibly tablet.
Not sure if it changed, but when you can't install on more than one same type of device, it should give you a prompt asking to delete history on the previous device.
You can try using TunnelBear, they give you a free GB for doing a promo tweet. That should be enough to let you try. Although I wouldn’t stick with it, there seems to be better ones out there if you’re going to use it permanently. You could probably search around or ask for a better one. As for the number, I believe you’re stuck with it now. I don’t know if new accounts can be made without numbers but you can always give it a try.
This map is a bit old, but I think is still relevant.
Line started out as a Japanese messaging app and the only countries that really use it are Japan and Thailand.
Most of the world either uses Facebook Messenger (Western nations) or WhatsApp (everyone else). With a few pockets of Viber, KaKao (S Korea only) or WeChat (China only).
So you are aware that they spy on you and misuse your bandwidth to advertise things to you, and you still think there might be something good in all this?
If you only use it for your wife it's easy, tell her to switch to something else.
Ideally you would use an open source protocol and client, such as XMPP. Since everything is open, no single company has control over it. Even better, the client can't do anything behind your back, because the source code is open. If you don't like a client or server, you can change to another one and still keep your contacts.
Of course, you can't ask all your friends to switch to something else, but this is what I did for my family and close friends, and they are all happy with it. Give it a try!
I am not familiar with it, but there is help page if you haven't already checked it out: https://help.line.me/line/ios/categoryId/20000119/ (view in desktop mode)
Keep in mind of the following though: https://line.me/en/call/howto
>Calls cannot be made to the following: > > * Emergency numbers, including the police, fire department, or ambulance. > > * Some paid or premium call services. > > * Businesses without connection agreements with LINE.
Could also ask Line for further info if needed.
Idk what these other idiots are talking about it’s easy.
If you have registered your number on your account reinstall the app and do not register your number. Download a vpn (TunnelBear) and connect to the country with the stickers you want. Close line, open it and there you go.
Just got this done after a couple of hours of tinkering with different VPNs etc.

Hope that saves you a couple of hours!
There is no need to register your phone number. Actually, if you do that, you won't be able to get JP stickers, even if you are using a VPN. I use TunnelBear VPN. It works and it's free.
I recommend you to type the Line shop address with the sticker ID you are interested for in the Keep Memo chat like this:
line://shop/detail/7825
line://shop/detail/2212

If you send it, the chat will automatically create a link to the shop.
Good news for you! If you're quick to do this, maybe you have time to get some before they block this option. Here are the steps:
1) Get yourself some coins first to be enough to buy the sticker(s) you want. 2) Link a Facebook account to your LINE account. 3) Remove the phone number linked to your LINE account. To do this, simply delete LINE and reinstall. Use Facebook login method and once you're in, your phone number is removed by the system. 4) Download a VPN that have servers on the country you need (e.g. if a sticker you want to buy is Japan-locked, then use VPN like TunnelBear). 5) Uninstall LINE on PlayStore. Open the VPN and set it to the country you need. 6) Once connected, go to PlayStore and install LINE while still under VPN. 7) Open LINE and log in using your Facebook account (remember to not add your phone number). 8) Navigate to sticker shop, and you should see the region-locked sticker is now accessible to purchase using coins on your account you bought earlier. 9) Enjoy your new sticker!
I've tried TunnelBear and Private Internet Access. Line sends me a connection notification each time I tried to log into Music, and they all show a Japanese IP.
Is it possible those IP's are no good?
AFAIK there is no japanese client, because the app detects your location via network and your phone number which is tied to your account.
You can access the japanese store with a VPN. I just use the free trial with TunnelBear. Make sure your account is tied to a Facebook account, because if you sign in via phone number it will know your location. FB login skips that. Make sure you make chat backups as well.
Clear app cache for the LINE app (or you could just uninstall)
Turn off location and remove SIM
Connect to VPN
Reinstall LINE if you chose to uninstall
Sign in with Facebook
Buy stuff
For whatever reason, sometimes it gets stuck at 81% after logging in. I found that disabling and re-enabling wifi sometimes works, if not then just wait a while.
What exactly do you mean by"on the play store itself"?
I first started the VPN (I used ExpressVPN), then opened the Android emulator and then the Google store on the emulator and downloaded the LINE app to the emulator (and yes, I only used the line app on the Emulator for the purpose of getting the stickers. And I created a new account on the LINE on the emulator where I used my Facebook to login). I hope this helps :)
I should have mentioned that it only works on mobile. I haven't tried it on an iOS device; but on Android, I usually use OpenVPN with the EasyVPN plugin
