I'm using this cable with my Vector Pro 2. I do get a windows notification saying that my display connection might be limited, but I haven't noticed any issues both while gaming and not gaming. I'm connected to a 27 inch HyperX monitor.
I have this same model and I put a WD Blck 2TB in there, works perfectly. Here is the model I installed SSD .There is a heat absorber stuck to the inside of the bottom laptop cover, which sits right over both SSD drives. There is no room for an extra heat sink. For me it has worked perfectly, I am not getting high temps on either SSD nor is it heating up my cpu or gpu. That said, I do not do intensive gaming, more video editing, so I can’t speak to prolonged gaming. I also put a 4TB Sabrent Rocket in there at first, and it worked great, but I swapped it out for the 2TB WD and out the 4 in an enclosure to use as a portable SSD.
I have 2 of those units and thankfully haven't had any issues like what you described. I did run all windows and driver updates first thing including Nvidia from their site, then created a disk image in case I need to wipe it at some point. I do have Steam installed and no issues, as well as Xbox app. May want to reinstall windows and then the drivers, though that is super annoying right out of the gate. Also, the Node Control Center app they come with is outdated, so definitely update that from their website. It has a ton more options for overclocking, undervolting, TDP, etc. I absolutely love these machines. They're much less expensive than Razer as you said and the airflow I find much better. Does help to elevate the back a bit, I use these from amazon, super convenient and definitely keeps the temps down Laptop Feet
I've tried two docks:
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand 11-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NDGD2V5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_0W6BMFYX6VQ882250WPZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Anker Docking Station, PowerExpand 13-in-1 USB-C Dock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088F7SY6S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_1X6CEHQ3N8B9401W8P8D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Neither worked, and I thought about getting the intel version, but it's $100 more for an i7, which I'm sure I haven't done enough research, but I've read that the ryzen 9 is better outside of thunderbolt.
