If you have any of the risk factors listed here, that would explain why your doctor brought it up.
Try adding L-Theanine with the coffee (or any caffeine)
Game changer
I keep L-Theanine at my desk, and I also have precombined caffeine/L-Theanine pills for the mornings where I’m not drinking coffee but like a flavored water or something.
Look into it, L-Theanine is legit…. Takes that edge right off
a gram seems to work for me, buying in bulk is usually cheaper.
I bought the 250 gram bag (8.8oz) and it's still going strong. Also choline rich foods is always good, eggs and beef liver (if you can stomach it).

I drink large amounts of ionized alkaline water I make. I add to it a flavored, sugar free electrolyte powder. Amazing stuff. Made by LYTE SHOW. See Amazon. Lyte Pow. Tastes great. Don't get the liquid. Buy this powder. https://www.amazon.com/LytePow-Electrolyte-Powder-Minerals-Replenishment/dp/B08J25R68R/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_mod_primary_new?adgrpid=57713511564&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkOqZBhDNARIsAACsbfLLH5f9F1QpsOUUHslLhLvldJqSwylrw7AFpV6fbiFJTsNzS3CatZYaAkFkEALw_wcB&hv...
they make oral moisturizing spray. Here's one i use incase you wanna get it for her or soemthing:

It also has xylitol in it which is good for teeth.
You can get small pieces of rice paper that are designed for taking powders and dried herbs. Wrapping a pill in one would certainly increase the time it takes to dissolve, though it's also going to make it larger and more difficult to swallow.
I use them all the time for powders, and they work great for me (but I can also take a couple of dozen pills in one swallow without difficulty, so YMMV.)
Here's the brand I use.
Alternate source if you want to avoid amazon.
the ones you linked are not bad. definitely better than people who recommend Pedialyte or such. but i think these are even better. no added sugar, no flavoring, no need to dissolve in water. these are what marathon runners/bikers use.

Drink more water than you'd naturally want to, i take an electrolyte tablet with my water in the am (link at bottom).
Magnesium will help you sleep in the evening and is a nice compliment. Read some dave asprey (head strong) if you really want to up your supplement game whilst on modafnil.
Good luck
I don't know anything about Modafinil, I found this post reading about your recent Work Drama posts. I did want to suggestion you treat your S.A.D with simple Vitamin D. Take 10,000 UI once a week for 12 weeks. Then regularly there after. This bottle will last you forever.
Amazon.com: Vitamin D3 10000 IU Country Life 200 Softgel: Health & Personal Care
I also suggest you try Taurine. just a half spoon in any drink.
Also regarding your work drama. Do no work outside the official duties you signed your contract for. Do not work outside your contracted hours. Do not spend any time outside of work finishing up things you did not have time to finish due to your hours. And be sure to send the president of the company a Merry Christmas email. With a google Voice number. Give your self a title Lead IT Admin.
I take Thorne's Phosphatidyl Choline. I live in the town Thorne grew up in so it's really cheap to buy it at the pharmacy. Cheaper than even Amazon.
But I think they do good work. I can't say I feel some incredible, marked difference but I do feel more steady if that makes sense. Way less headaches.
I also take Brain Plus off Amazon. It's only $20 a month. I used to take Qualia which at the time was $99 a month and I can't say I feel much difference so I take the cheaper one. Qualia had to change their formula and remove either the racetams or noopept or both and it didn't work as well for me. So now I take the cheaper formula and take the other stuff separately.
Sometimes people rag on proprietary blends and that kind of stuff but I feel like I tested and tried and I'm willing to save the cash here. I spend about $400-600 a month on supplements just to keep my hormones balanced and my brain turned on so it all adds up.
I'm thinking about going off the Moda for a bit and trying Selank and Semax (peptides) to see what I can accomplish there.
I’ve been taking a probiotic that has a bit of St John’s Wort. It definitely helps with the anxiety issue. It’s fairly mild and organic so you won’t feel like you’re just stacking uppers and downers.

I haven't used it but it seems to me it's the best pill cutter available, although not necessarily efficient. They have videos on youtube.
